1741  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If Luck Was Measured In Percentage, Rate Your Luck In 2022 From 0-100 on: January 06, 2023, 10:50:05 PM
It's a Simple question -
Let's all assume that luck could be measured in percentage, I want us all to rate our luck in gambling for the year 2022,
From 0 to 100, rate how lucky you were in gambling last year.

And if you don't mind, feel free to also discuss your plans for this year 2023, how much do you hope to make from gambling before this year runs out, and do you have plans laid down to make this possible? Please feel free to tell us, you might just be helping someone re-arrange their gambling activities/plans for the year.

For me,
I will rate my 2022 gambling luck 5% out of 100, I didn't gamble much, but for the little I gambled, I didn't win much either, Infact, I think I lost more money than I won from gambling in 2022.

My gambling plans for this year 2023...
I currently do not have any plans yet for this year as I've not really settled into the year, have a few debts from last year I am still trying to settle before I think of gambling again..

Luck pretty much IS based on numbers from 0 to 100. Since probability is all percentages and that is what probabilistic math is based on, mostly.

The world is so extremely, unfathomably complex, that it would not be possible to accurately measure such things as luck since you do not have the knowledge about all the unknown variables which influence your luck. (In this case I am referring to luck as the probability of winning). But If you asked me how I FEEL about how lucky I am, on a scale from 0 to 100 then I would say probably around 30. (at least during the current time - since I have been on a losing streak, it seems.)

I have definitely felt luckier in the past.  Wink
1742  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it advisable to memorize seed phrase? on: January 06, 2023, 10:43:21 PM
I read that one of the best ways to preserve a seed phrase is to write it on a piece of paper and keep it in a safe place... Somewhere safe could be in your home out of the reach of family members and friends, it could also be a safe deposit box. But not everyone are financially buoyant to afford the services of a deposit box.

I believe we must have seen or heard about fire outbreaks, where buildings are completely erased by fire. Imagine if the owner or occupant of such a building has some Bitcoin assets, and has his/her phone, tablet, laptop and the seed phrase piece of paper in the building and everything was lost to fire. Now, this brings me to the question... Can seed phrase be memorized? It's advisable to memorize seed phrase?

It really depends on how good your memory is. If you have a bad memory and tend to forget certain things quickly, then I very much doubt your strategy of keeping your seed phrase in your head, will become something with a successful ending.

I personally am quite forgetful and I doubt I could remember my seed phrase for a long time. Maybe I could, maybe I could not, but that's not something I am willing to bet my money on. Better safe than sorry.

Whats wrong with a hardware wallet? They are really the most secure wallets that you can store your coins on.
1743  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the motives that drive you to gamble? on: January 06, 2023, 10:33:26 PM
I do not know about you guys, but I gamble because I like it and because it is a hobby as well as an addiction. I'm good with myself, as I already admitted to having an addiction but tried to find and apply techniques to avoid getting off track and spending all of my money on gambling. It's quite easy for me to control my gambling anxiety as I already follow strict rules that help me stay on the line.

What about you guys? Do you have any addiction to gambling? What drives you to gamble? Is it the long shot of having a big profit coming in or is gambling simply a way of spending time for you?

For me gambling is fun because I only gamble with small amounts of money. I make no mistake in acknowledging the fact that I am not the best gambler nor am I a fortune teller or have some other way to predict the outcome of my gambling bets. Many people make this very same mistake and gamble large amounts of money and risk losing EVERYTHING.

I might never make giant winnings but at least I know I will not make giant losses. And honestly, I am completely ok with that. I have no problem with having fun and walking out, relaxed and without stress.
1744  Other / Meta / Re: This forum will need explicit rules on the use of AI. on: January 06, 2023, 08:37:58 AM
You guys are worrying too much, I would say.

Artificial Intelligence might be quite impressive nowadays but the very core of this forum's member ranking system is highly dependent on interpersonal and group relationships. Sure, AI can generate generic texts and at times, might seem extremely human, but ask yourselves, would you really not be able to tell your internet forum friend was an AI with nothing of interest to say? No life, no thoughts, no ideas. Just impressive algorithms.

I might get duped once or twice into believing an AI post came from a real person, but there is no way I would become interested in reading an AI's dull, generic drivel. Least of all, would I befriend it.

Guys for the love of Bitcoin, stop meriting the merit farmers and stop replying to the trolls. If we keep fueling their toxic posting motivation, they will come back in larger numbers.
1746  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would you bet is chess matches? on: January 05, 2023, 09:28:14 PM
Chess tournaments as well as checkers may be a good sports field for the betting industry. I know I would bet in a chess match as I already did that against a friend. We have gathered a group pf players in my neighbourhood. Thrn we started with a betting game where we could bet on the winner ot we could bet on first player going for a check. Ithe experiment worked out fine. So, if there was a site where you could bet on checkers or chess would you go for it?

Chess is a game based on skills not luck. This makes this a game not worth betting on in our AI age. Even back when AI did not exist we had computers who could easily defeat world champion chess players using simple lines of code with a well defined algorithm.

In other words, I am saying its a game in which it is too easy to cheat, if your opponent is human.

Although you know what would be interesting? AI vs AI chess. The best AI (developer) wins. That is something I would bet on!
1747  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is playing national lottery smart or waste of time? on: January 05, 2023, 07:20:54 PM

Playing national lottery is the largest waste of time and worst waste of money that you can think of, even for the most risky of gamblers. If you look at the probabilities, its just not worth it. The probability of winning is so tiny, getting hit by lightning, twice, is more probable.

Some people just do not seem to be able to understand the math behind the probabilities, I think that's the root of the problem. The lottery just makes it seem like an achievable goal. But thats marketing.

The reward is so large but too many people are going for it. It is national, so the entire nation is well aware. And yet how often do we hear of big winners?

Suffice it to say again, but lotteries are not worth the money, time or effort.
If people would make out those calculations and find out the odds or chances then for sure they would really be losing that interest on betting on lotteries but once a person would be having in mind on getting rich once they do hit the jackpot then this is something that is really hard to be controlled or something that would really motivate you on making out bets even if its on daily basis. It all matters with your own mindset
and if emotion would also play out together with your mind then for sure you would be betting and wont minding on the time and money that would be spending out.So just let them be on what
are the things that they do because its their money to be used after all.

Well, yes. The problem is always the mindset. There are people with fixed mindsets who, even if you were to confront them with facts, physical and mathematical evidence, then there would still not be a doubt in my mind that such a person is going to spend money on a lottery ticket in hopes of changing his life, based on a miracle.

Lotteries depend on the desperation and hopes of people who believe in ridiculous things. But then again there are more than enough of such people (crystal gazers, astrologists, fortune tellers and so on).

Basically its impossible to convince those who do not wish to be convinced.
1748  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Non-KYC BTC to fiat process on: January 05, 2023, 06:42:44 PM
2. Set up a business which accepts Bitcoin then slowly mix the coin into your own turnover. (I am not sure about the legality of this one so maybe get legal advice.)

That would be a picture book example of money laundering so I wouldn't do that!  Wink

But yeah, cashing out slowly in small increments is probably the way to go. Even if you raise some red flags there's noting strictly illegal about owning Non-KYC coins in the EU, so while it could be a hassle it shouldn't come with legal problems (unless you try to e.g. evade taxes or launder it as per the example above).

Yeah I guess so. Although technically its his rightfully earned money and he would be paying taxes on it either way, so while it does resemble money laundering, it cannot really compare to the same kind of money laundering as with stolen money/funding illegal activities/avoiding tax responsibilities etc....

Basically OP is willing to pay taxes he/she just wants to avoid the headache of trying to prove its his money. So that is why I mentioned the business part as a possibility.

But you are completely correct. It most probably will be seen as money laundering under the law and its not something I recommend. Just an idea I had.
1749  Economy / Gambling / Re: Rollbit.com | Crypto's Most Rewarding Casino 👑 on: January 05, 2023, 03:24:24 PM
Gambling, playing video games or watching movies on a tiny screen is so absurdly uncomfortable and inconvenient, it borders on the masochistic. Honestly, I prefer real life gambling over online gambling but sometimes, online gambling can be fun too because it can offer things that real life casinos do not/can not.
but phones are really the wrong medium for it either way.

It does feel more serious when you are viewing a large screen and using many buttons to delegate your actions.

I sometimes wonder why people are starting to shift away from computers/laptops and adapt more to smaller, mobile devices.
Maybe you are a rich kid that grows up with personal computers and laptops? And even though you got a high end mobile phone, you are mainly using them the way they originally intended which is for doing phone calls and send texts messages. Desktop/lappy users will never understand the joy of the mobile users even though one of the obvious reason is that it's portable and they can carry it anywhere.

The comparison between online and offline gambling are also close to what we talked about earlier. It also has to do with with conveniences. We can't just simply forced someone who are already used to the other to try the other as that may not work.

A personal computer or laptop costs around as much as a mobile phone. So I am not sure where exactly you get off on calling me rich. Also, I am not a kid. I think that either you are perhaps the kid who has yet to enter the world of working adults and therefor does not understand that buying a laptop or mobile phone is not such a huge, life-changing deal, even in poor countries. Hell, if you were really desperate, you could buy a very cheap, old used one and it would work just fine.

Playing on a small screen, is uncomfortable. No matter how you look at it.

All you're doing is trading in the convenience of a big screen for the convenience of gambling on the toilet at work. Personally to me, its not worth the trade-off.

Also, physical casinos are a completely different experience and they cannot be compared to online gambling. Not that you would know  Roll Eyes

Hi,

Question about cashing in BTC in EU. (asking fresh advice after scouring through the forums)

I've been hodling a handful of BTC for almost 10 years, with a few shitcoin excursions in the early years.

Since then, just hodled quite conservatively.

Here's the complex part:

I bought almost all of them with cash from an ATM at < 1000e.

I have no receipts, no proof of purchase and I have mostly self-custodied them on a multiple hardware wallets since.

Funds have moved wallets multiple times and I don't have all the transactions in between then and now. I do have some records from old exchanges but not a complete history.

That said, I think I might be able to control my 'first' hardware wallet. As a privacy proponent I also mixed some the coins a few years ago.

So now I'm in a situation where I need to grudginly cash-in some of it to stay warm in the house.
I need to get the funds in a bank account so I can pay bills, so I am not looking for p2p cash deals.

My understanding is that a traditional bank will frown at this to say the least.

What are my options? Does anyone have any experience on how to go about this in a legitimate way?

If bank, what kind of proof do they need in this case?
How to go about 'proving ownership' or what is the procedure both with the bank and the tax folks?

Any legal, professional advice, resources, links or other information would be helpful. Based in EU.

Also if anyone knows any technical tools that could help me make sense of my transaction history in a secure way, would be great.

Thanks all,

Well, you really put yourself into a pickle with this one. Since you do not have the requirements to prove the coin really belongs to you, If we are talking about large sums, you could do this either in two ways:

1. Have a talk with the bank/tax authorities about how to process this. Obviously the government will want a share in the taxes.
2. Set up a business which accepts Bitcoin then slowly mix the coin into your own turnover. (I am not sure about the legality of this one so maybe get legal advice.)

Personally, I think you could even cash in, in small increments without people raising an eyebrow. I doubt the bank or the government will become suspicious of you unless you alert them by dealing with unusually large sums of money)
1751  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Factors that contribute to form addictive gambling. on: January 04, 2023, 10:43:52 PM
Free alcoholic drinks, ease of withdrawal machines and ease of which to fund betting/gambling site wallets are serious contributory factors to addictive gambling.

A man was invited to the court for failure to meet up with his bills. He complained bitterly to the judge he was standing before, on how he was given free drinks at a live casino and it made him so loose to the point that he lost and emptied his wallet to place more bet of which he lost more. He made several withdrawals from his bank account, most of which he had saved up for something as important as paying the bill for which he was summoned and more.
He attributed his huge loss to the ease of which he could easily withdraw cash because of the presence and ease of accessibility of ATM and POS machines and the free alcoholic drinks served which made him drunk and so excited to the point he emptied all his savings on gambling.
In comparison to live casinos, online casinos do not offer free drinks, but if one were to bet from the comfort of his/her zone, and had a fridge or cooler of chilled alcoholic drinks, it shouldn't be a yardstick to get drunk to the point of funding ones betting wallet all just to gamble at that instance of excitement. Also, if one can't get to control the amount of his/her alcoholic intake I don't think such a one can control the excitement that comes from gambling and shouldn't bet, make withdrawals or fund gambling wallets, while drunk.

What other factors do you know contribute to form addictive gambling?

I am not sure about psychological strategies that are used by physical casinos but I can imagine the professional casinos use some similar tricks to a supermarket. In a supermarket for example, the food has special lighting which makes it seem visually fresher than it actually is. The product placement and the colors are all carefully thought out in order to stimulate people psychologically into buying stuff. And the music is supposed to influence you as well.

I know the sounds and colors are being used by the casinos in a similar but different way. Slot machines are a great example. Loud, flashy and colorful.

But how exactly the psychological part works is unknown to me.

1753  Economy / Gambling / Re: Livecasino.io - 🔥 up to 20% cashback🔥up to 20% rakeback 🚨 instant withdrawals on: January 04, 2023, 08:58:11 PM
I know that the original RTP of the slot is 96%, what I am talking about is the current live RTP percentage of the slots during my session which is 100%+ as declared on the site that can be found here: https://livecasino.io/live-rtp or below the interface of the slot game.  With that data, there is a possibility of having a reward of 100%+ of my total wagered amount loss.  So I took my chances if the declared live RTP will kicked in and I believe it did since even a single spin gives me upto 50x of my base bet.

You continue to think in the short term. Read this:

'RTP is calculated over long-term

The return to player is a concept that applies to the long-term winnings, rather than the outcome of individual sessions. In the short-term pretty much anything can happen and there is no guarantee that the percentage will apply to gambling outcomes. The purpose is to give players an accurate idea of how much the game pays in the long run, without stripping them of the chance of winning big giving individual sessions. To be more accurate in short-term predictions, punters must pay attention to the game volatility..'

If you are talking about the cash prize from the Crypto crunch tournament, yes I received it today at around 11:00 UTC. You can check it on the reward page normally : https://livecasino.io/profile/rewards
It's written "Livecasino Tournaments - cash prizes (mBTC)" with the value of the prize you got.
The reward is given in the currency of your last deposit.

Txs! I got 300.00 µBTC. Quite good for my betting level.
I am not an addicted gambler so the term was a visitor to me but I checked the link you provided, I became to understand the term.
That means, RTP is for those gamblers that bet on plenty games at a time with very long slips. There are some times that they even used $5 to bet 30-40 games, and these are long term games and if any game cut along the line all the rest games are cancelled. Therefore, RTP is also cancelled. RTP is not recommendable for the short term gamblers, the pay is not guaranteed.

Why would RTP not be recommendable for the short term gamblers? IF you scale your bets then it should work out, should it not? You just have to find out how the casino calculates their RTP and their marketing strategy towards it. And just going by that data, you can reverse formulate the exact requirements for a good RTP. I am guessing that short term players might be disadvantaged at casinos only as long as their betting amount is small? With large bets RTP might still be worth it. But again, only as long as casinos are not factoring in the account age or some other time scale.

1754  Economy / Gambling / Re: What sort of Weekly & Monthly Bonuses do Bitcointalk members want? on: January 03, 2023, 10:02:28 PM
Currently we offer level-up bonuses for our VIP and rakeback. However, due to popular demand, we are looking to implement weekly and monthly bonuses as well. Do you guys happen to have any recommendations for a formula we should use in determining what an appropriate weekly/monthly bonus should be?

We would love to hear feedback from all bitcointalk members!

Hope you guys have an awesome and safe New Years! Smiley

-Punt Management

Well, a good formula would be to take the average of a certain sample size of bonuses in other popular casinos and add a certain percentage of your own to beat out the competition when it comes to bonuses. 15% sounds like a good number for the percentage to me, although feel free to raise the bonuses higher as long as you stay above the usual "market value" of bonuses. I am not expert in casino strategies or calculations when it comes to bonuses, so take my advice with a pinch of salt. I just think that higher than average bonuses will attract more players. Smiley
1755  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What are your thoughts on revenge trading? on: January 03, 2023, 09:46:44 PM
Of recent, I've come across alot of people talking about traders chasing their losses which at the end, leads to possible blowing of accounts.
I understand that people trade with expections and most times when this expectations aren't met, they try as much as possible to chase after their losses and my questions are
~ what is your take on revenge trading?
~ Do you think people intentionally go into revenge trading or is is just emotional?
~ what will you advise someone making series of losses ?
^

I think there is a word for this and it also exists in the world of gambling. I have no idea what the word officially is, but it might be "frustration gambling". When you gamble too much and things are not going your way, you get frustrated and more easily lose your money in this psychological state. Its never good to make decisions when one is angry or happy. Decision-making needs a sober, neutral mind.

But I have traded out of frustration before and lost a lot of money. Once again goes to show when trading, leave your emotions at home. Roll Eyes
1756  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are We Being Fucked? The centralization of Bitcoin on: January 03, 2023, 05:12:03 PM
There is absolutely no need to be alarmed. Unless Bitcoin switched to Proof-Of-Stake, the perceived centralization is basically pseudo-centralization. Holding Bitcoin is not enough, you should also be able to show the effort and work you put into Bitcoin. The work and effort being the costs of mining Bitcoin, in this case. So however large the mining groups are and however centralized Bitcoin seems to be, the miner giants cannot be in control of the 51% forever. This is different with POS because simply holding Bitcoin has no effort/cost attached to it.

Which is why as long as Bitcoin remains POW, we will never see true centralization. Bitcoin remains free.
1757  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will it be profitable for the business? on: January 03, 2023, 04:28:18 PM
Suppose I am doing business through an online Facebook page and website and want to accept Bitcoin. But now if I look at cryptocurrencies it comes with high volatility, and I have doubts whether accepting Bitcoin will be profitable for my business.
I really want to know your opinion on this and what are the initial steps I should take if I adopt cryptocurrency for my business? Because I see many people on the forum are taking steps to accept Bitcoin for businesses and that's why these questions araised in my mind.

You always have the option of accepting crypto stablecoins/tokens like USDT, USDC, BUSD and others, if you are so concerned with the up and downs of the price movements. Although it is quite understandable that you would be, since your business expenses do not pay for themselves and the margins might be so slim sometimes that you cannot afford to speculate whether Bitcoin will be low or high.

If you want to diversify your risk, it would be best to get a mix of these stablecoins/tokens and stash them in your own secure wallet (do not stash them into third party wallets mainly exchange wallets - like Binance for example).

Of course not lol, I end up gambling it away in the same place I got it so freeitco.in basically loses nothing, it also gives me lottery tickets and more reward points and lambo tickets too but I won none of that so far which means that I do not deposit much here, been a while since I last did, but I haven't withdrawn any money from here neither since the same times hence there is a net balance between me and freebitco.in, there is no profit nor a loss for neither of us in the same way.

The good ol' gambling temptation, huh? Happened to me as well during the recent World Cup. Can't stop them itchy fingers when those two teams had neck-to-neck chances, yet still lost

Well there is nothing to be ashamed of. Its completely natural to want to gamble sometimes. Especially during times when there is a huge global event going and everyone is gambling on who will win, who will lose and so on...

The amount of team analysis people do is insane. I do not have the patience nor the motivation to research stuff like that before I put in a bet. From my own subjective perspective, gambling is supposed to be fun, not a research chore.

Either way, it always feels like its impossible to tell who has a better chance than someone else.
1759  Economy / Gambling / Re: Rollbit.com | Crypto's Most Rewarding Casino 👑 on: January 02, 2023, 02:59:29 PM
but Rollbit site works fine on my phone. i bet on Slots and Live casino never failed to bet because for me Rollbit platform is good enough on my phone, never had any problem while betting
It also works fine on my mobile device but have personally not placed any bet from mobile phone and whenever I am in need I switch to desktop site mode from settings and adjust it accordingly but he might be facing some other issues as it loads and run on my device good.
maybe you have to use a cellphone device that is of good quality and a fairly strong internet network. but for me Rollbit is a very friendly gambling platform to play on mobile or on desktop

I agree with you, for my case it is also very difficult to place sports bets or even to analyze a game on the cell phone, I even made some effort to place sports bets on the cell phone but I could not, it was a disaster, then I tried to analyze the games through the cell phone because I thought that with that I could even be out of the house far from the computer that I could save my time doing game analysis on the cell phone but that was a disaster for that reason I stopped using the cell phone to do analysis

but since I couldn't do analysis and bets on my cell phone, I thought of starting to watch the games on my cell phone, something that also made me very uncomfortable because the cell phone screen is very small, so I couldn't watch the games comfortably and that's why I also stopped watching the games on my cell phone

After that, I only had to watch on the computer or on TV, with technology that is advanced, today TVs are smart and this helps a lot when watching games, at least in my case it helps me a lot, I always recommend that people prefer bigger screens to watch the games and analyze the games
but all of that goes back to their respective uses. if you are more often at home or in front of a computer screen, the best choice is the desktop.
but I myself am more often outside the house and I don't use a computer at the office so my best choice is a cell phone.

what is certain for me is using a desktop or cellphone to gamble on Rollbit it's all fine the most important thing is using a strong network and FHD screen resolution.

anyway i often bet on sports betting too using my phone and everything is fine

Doesn't the lack of detailed, many-optional control feel a bit off to you personally, when gambling on your smartphone? Your smartphone has a small screen so the interface is an obstacle to user experience and that is why the casinos need to cut out so many options. Options, which you would get on a laptop or a desktop computer. When it comes to sports betting, the mobile phone sounds like a nightmare. I would give up because I need more buttons, more screen, more options and a detailled overview of what is going on.
1760  Economy / Gambling / Re: Duelbits.com | Casino & Sportsbook | VIP | Instant withdrawals! on: January 02, 2023, 02:29:48 PM
Duelbits is fast to react whenever there is an accusation, they immediately solve it if something arises.
Their customer support is 10 points, very professional. They can miss it but if community informed them by their representative in bitcointalk, they quickly response and handle cases.

Quote
This is one of the reason why cases against Duelbits do not pile up.  Most of them are solved or clarified within one or two days.
Pile up or not, a matter is they handle cases very accurately. Less likely they make mistakes and if mistakes are found, they correct mistakes quickly.

Quote
Besides, I believe they clearly state the reason why a certain player is being punished or blocked.  And if ever the fault is on the casinos end, they immediately fix and solve the problem.
Better to handle cases accurately initially than make mistakes and have to handle accusations. It is not good for a casino and Duelbits team actually do their job well in investigating suspicious users as well as handling these cases carefully and accurately. They actually don't want any valid accusation against their decision on users.

I would have to agree with this guy. Their customer service is really the gold standard for customer service in the gambling field. If other casinos understood the importance of customer service and its role in marketing, then we would be seeing many more successful casinos, instead of casinos who have disgruntled players who hate them and would do anything to smear their reputation. I guess the gambling casinos are doing so well, financially, that they seem not to care so much about the aspect of their gamblers being more happy.
