remembering that your proof of residence has it your home address, so that makes it easier for scammers besides you to steal money at the casino he can also get to your house and steal and kill you, that's because if the scammers see that you are a big whale in his casino so he already knows that in the real world you have a lot of money. are things that scare

That is good advice for rich people. But not really something that 99% of us need to worry about in our life. Worst case scenario, you brag about being rich on the internet and the "bad people" dox you and break into your 3-room apartment because they believed you. Now once they find out you have no riches, they might do something bad to you out of revenge. There are enough scummy people in this world.

But I do agree with the KYC part. That is very sensitive information, which should be handled with care.
1782  Economy / Gambling / Re: WINZ.IO 🚀 WELCOME BONUS: 300 FREE SPINS 🎁 CHRISTMAS CALENDAR REWARDS 🎄🎄🎄 on: December 27, 2022, 08:35:32 PM
quick question: I know Belgium is on the countries that are restricted to play on winz but what about the USA? For work, I am 90% of my time in the US and I was wondering if I could open an account from there and play on winz without any problems ?
According to their terms and conditions, the United States is also a restricted country (jrrsparkles is right). In fact it's the first one on the restricted countries' list, not sure how you missed it.
A friendly advice : always read the casino or any other service provider's terms before using its services to avoid any kind of troubles. If they don't want you there, for whatever reason, then just look for another alternative.

Well hold on, this might be a different matter of legality if he does not live in the USA but rather only wishes to play on winz while he is in the USA. But does that change the fact that he is from another country? If you go to study abroad, does your Netflix subscription become voided? No, I could watch Netflix no matter where I live as long as I have paid for it and have access to the internet. I think the same circumstances should be true for casino players who are visiting a different country.
1783  Economy / Gambling / Re: Roobet.com | Crypto’s Fastest Growing Casino 🦘 on: December 27, 2022, 03:40:11 PM
The gambling industry is changing at a very fast rate in both promoting the business and also
adding more fun into it. I am not sure but definitely it is crypto space that has given more wings to it. First there were a lot of restrictions while using the gambling sites. You were not able to pay with the cards, had border payment restrictions, paypal always sucked, other payment
processors were not up to the market and more chances of scams were there. As soon as crypto bloomed, so as to crypto based casinos. Roobet obviously did an amazing job putting it as a two way business approach. There is a large community who even love the Roobet name in a positive way now. Everyone has favorite casino's, I guess Roobet is one of them for me

Yeah, I would agree with that. The introduction of cryptocurrency and decentralization to online gambling really gave people a bit more breathing space. Gambling had way too many regulations and silly rules which made gambling not very fun at all. But with crypto as a payment system and a smart contract underneath, casinos can automate their business and throw many annoying, outdated regulations out of the window by force.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

I hope everyone got something nice, whether a gift for oneself or a gift from a treasured person. Hopefully everyone now has more Bitcoin than they had before!

We should perhaps think of a new traditional way for Bitcointalk to celebrate the oncoming new years in a way that only a true Bitcointalker could appreciate. If anyone has any ideas on that, feel free to mention anything!

1785  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hackers leak personal info allegedly stolen from 5.7M Gemini users on: December 26, 2022, 12:55:21 PM
Another sad story related to exchanges... Anyone used Gemini? We all love KYC so much...

Gemini crypto exchange announced this week that customers were targeted in phishing campaigns after a threat actor collected their personal information from a third-party vendor. The Gemini product security team published a short notice that an unnamed third-party vendor suffered an "incident" that allowed an unauthorized actor to collect email addresses and incomplete phone numbers belonging to some Gemini customers.

KYC is dangerous from many reasons, one of them is that you give your data to people who do not know how to keep them safe...

more details: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/hackers-leak-personal-info-allegedly-stolen-from-57m-gemini-users/

It is sad to see how many people prefer comfort over security. Comfort, its the very reason why they keep giving their coin to third party members and give away their personal information/government documents to faceless entities. When will they learn the two most important lessons in the world of cryptocurrency and blockchain?

First: not your keys, not your coins. Second: be your own bank.

Those are the two only rules you need to never be tricked into giving up your money/anonymity/control.

And of course the affected people will find a way to blame Bitcoin/crypto for this, instead of improving themselves...
1786  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🎲BetFury.io|🎁Welcome Pack on BetFury| 💸300 Free Spins + 150% Deposit Bonus on: December 26, 2022, 11:10:45 AM
Not only BFG token but almost all tokens and coins have started to fall in bear market.  which is a normal cycle.  So now the BFG can't be the only one to blame.  Because all cryptos are very deep right now.  But since BFG is giving their staking offer.  So it will be a consolation prize . Since BFG Tokens are free by gambling even if not purchased.  Hence stalking rewards will serve as a good benefit for gamblers

I’m not blaming or single out the BFG token poor price performance. It just happened that this thread is for Betfury BFG tokens and the comment that I reply is about the APY of BFG so I focus my comment on the topic by not including other altcoins in the market like what you said. This is not a general altcoin discussion thread so let's focus on BFG.

Besides I didn't suggest to invest on lther tokens and only mention that it is better to not stake and don’t hold the token at current condition to avoid loss.

I would have to agree with the previous poster. Attempting to judge the price performance of the BFG token (or any crypto) during crypto winters is not a very smart way to Gauge the realistic future APY. You should instead be comparing how the price is doing on a more selective scale. For example, is the market cap corresponding to the drop in price the same way other similar tokens do?

If the only factor which is inducing a bear market of the token is the overall crypto bear market then that alone is not enough information to judge a token.
1787  Economy / Gambling / Re: Duelbits.com | Casino & Sportsbook | VIP | Instant withdrawals! on: December 26, 2022, 10:36:08 AM

me, too.
sometimes when I want to open the Duelbits platform I can't open it because my country prohibits gambling so I have to activate the VPN to be able to gamble here.
but sometimes I only use VPN 1x after that I turn off the VPN after that it's still smooth nothing has changed. Even though if I turn off the VPN, the platform should not be open.
and when I used a VPN, I got a not too big win at Duelbits and I tried to withdraw my funds, everything was fine, no problems whatsoever.

You won't get a problem if you only use VPN once but remember at one time they could have used it as a reason when your account was suspected
I also claimed to have used VPN to access all casinos including Duelbits and so far there was no problem, but I understand there was a risk there
The most important thing is not to try to cheat them like taking advantage of promotions.
If you are exploiting the terms and conditions of the casino then you are always at the risk of being caught and face the consequences like in the case of VPN as some users account is freezed and they are unable to withdraw and they can't claim it because use of VPN is not allowed but many are still doing it as we all know to bypass the restrictions.
I have read it before from this thread actually that Duelbits answered that regards to the VPN usage. They've said that as long as it's just for accessing and you don't do anything illegal or against the terms and conditions of Duelbits, you shall be fine.
They'll detect if there's an abuse while using a VPN but if there's none, you have nothing to worry about and you've got a valid reason as why you're using a VPN if ever they start questioning your access activities.

Well, not to be sounding like a bit of a prude but I doubt most gamblers use VPNs because they are afraid of the online gambling casino registering their personal information. The very fact that most casinos can demand a KYC at any time should make hiding your IP a bit of a unnecessary task for any person who is allowed to gamble in said casino. I think most VPN gamblers are either not allowed to gamble by the laws of their country or they are not allowed to gamble in a particular casino. So obviously a anonymous user secretly gambling can be construed by the rules as a suspicious enough reason to demand KYC. At which point they are in trouble.

1789  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I found a Bitcoin restaurant in my neighborhood on: December 23, 2022, 07:21:41 PM
Why would you invite a restaurant owner for Christmas dinner?

Well OP answered that. A tight knit community is the answer.

But if that happened in a highly populated city/town, it would be a bit different.
It took me a while to think of what an answer to the question could be in such a case- in a more populated world (like the western world). But if I had to take a guess: I suppose to either flex ones cooking (kind of a rubbing salt in his face situation) or it would be to brown-nose the owner in hopes of getting special treatment when visiting the restaurant next time.

Although having said that, it does make me sound like I may be a bit of a downer with a pessimistic view of the world. Roll Eyes
1790  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Do you think that Bitcoin is more worth buying than the ASICs? on: December 23, 2022, 02:24:07 PM
What is your reason for starting mining?

How do you define whether a supplier is legit?

Thanks

I am not sure why you have 2 different questions in your post and 1 random question in your topic header but I will try to answer, to your topic question of if I think buying BTC is worth more than mining hardware:

I think that your perspective on this is wrong. At some point, your investment in those ASICs will be covered by the mined Bitcoin profits. And once you have regained the money you invested, you will be mining for profit, having to cover only your mining bills (electricity, rent and so on...).

Now, if your mining bills >= Bitcoin profits then obviously mining Bitcoin with ASICs would be useless as you would earn no profit and there would be no point in buying ASICs in the first place.

So the question you should ask yourself must be: Is my government ripping me off when it comes to the electricity bill ? Roll Eyes
1791  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [BOXING] Manny Pacquiao vs. DK Yoo on: December 23, 2022, 02:14:27 PM

Exhibitions fights are basically there for two reasons, as I understand it, the first reason is for marketing and PR purposes. Obviously every fighter has to keep up their own appearance in their social media as well as for whichever marketing team is helping them out in the news headlines. I am guessing that if they did not do this, then when the real fight starts, their audience will be much much smaller. And therefore they will make less money.

The second reason is to gauge their opponents strengths and weaknesses. Preparing them for a longer and harder fight.

Speaking of opponent, there is a rumor circling around that Manny Pacquiao will possibly meet Former Super Middle Champion Anthony Mundine in an exhibition fight
.  Mundine is two division heavier than Manny Pacquiao even though Mundine  is 47 years old, we cannot deny the fact the remnant of the boxer's strength is still there besides their age isn't that far Manny being 44 years old.  I think the match is just crazy.  Mundine is too big for Manny, taller and longer in reach by 8 cm.  Even thought it is only an exhibition fight and DK Yoo is much taller and bigger but DK Yoo isn't a real boxer unlike Mundine

They are currently in talk of the said possible exhibition fight.

Source: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/boxing/article-11563815/Anthony-Mundine-talks-fight-boxing-legend-Manny-Pacquiao-Nedal-Hussein-not-impressed.html

Oh wow, really? I have not heard anything about a Manny Pacquiao vs Anthony Mundine exhibition fight!

Is this fresh news? The article was seemingly posted on the site December 22 2022.

Well even if this is just rumor or not, I doubt Manny Pacquiao is going to lose against the already retired, 47 year old Mundine. Although I doubt that age is the issue here, as Manny himself is 44 and and retired. But since Manny retired only last year, he definitely has way more fight in him than Anthony Mundine.

In my eyes, this is not an even fight. Manny already won.

What would cause an account check with compliance?

Anything that a casino could regard as suspicious behavior. Although it might be worth noting that the term "suspicious behavior" is usually not defined by any online casinos for the purpose of keeping their reasons a bit "fluid". In the case for example that someone is moving money in ways that could be seen as money laundering or if someone is using a bot to try to cheat the system or the player logs on with different IP addresses everytime...

The casinos need to make sure they are not involved in any illegal things like allowing players from forbidden countries to play on their casino or having their casino used to launder money.

If it were up to me, I would prefer the casinos did compliance checks when the account was created instead of later, on the grounds of suspicion.

1795  Economy / Economics / Re: Use your money wisely. Invest or Deposit ? on: December 22, 2022, 03:53:05 PM
True, by using money for things that are useful then we will not regret it in old age, as long as we are young and easy to find money then save it all, if it looks big then use it to buy land and then build a shop building that can be rented out so we have provisions if it doesn't work anymore, don't regret being wasteful.
Wasting money is really not recommended in life, because saving money for necessities is a better thing to do. Because it is for yourself in old age so it is not a problem if you have to save money from now on in terms of gathering supplies for yourself. Because it will be very painful and sad if when you are old there are no provisions to enjoy anymore. So use existing assets in everything that can circulate money continuously and the rest is saved for old age.

Investing nor saving for old age are not a waste of money, I would say. But then again that is a relative definition. I think everybody has a completely different interpretation of what "wasting money" actually means. For example, if I were to buy clothes, I would see it as a waste of money if those were brand clothes with thousand dollar price tags. I prefer good quality but decent price. Another person would see it as an investment into his social life because he is surrounded by people who think the same way.

For me, I think its both good to set aside money for old age but also it does good to not forget to live in the moment. We are alive now. Tomorrow is not assured. So saving every single penny for old age is nonsense.

I say its better to save/invest half your extra money and the other half spend on meaningful things.

1796  Economy / Gambling / Re: Cloudbet | Bitcoin Casino & Sportsbook | The No.1 Bitcoin Gambling Site on: December 22, 2022, 01:50:37 PM
In my opinion, all complaints should be taken seriously as long as they are presented with evidence. Blockchain transaction IDs along with screenshots and any chat history can provide excellent proof when it comes to backing up an allegation of wrongdoing. If that stage ever comes, then it should not matter if the casino involved is a big reputable one or a new one starting out, they should respond to the allegation and then allow others from the forum to post in the Scam Accusation thread based on what they have read.

I think all complaints, regardless of whether or not there is sufficient evidence should be taken seriously by the casino itself, because thats their "customers" who are unhappy with whichever service or reason. Its really in the gambling casinos own interest to be concerned about helping their players feel comfortable because if they lose players, they will lose money. And even more if the players go on a rant online about how bad the casino is, and thus they will be damaging the reputation of the business and spooking away future customers, regardless of whether or not they have evidence for their claims.
1797  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [BOXING] Manny Pacquiao vs. DK Yoo on: December 22, 2022, 11:19:59 AM
helping poor people is not the only reason why you need to become a politician. there are more things you need to consider when you are in politics because you are guiding the future of your country. but in any case, pacquiao should be totally retiring from professional boxing bouts. great if he will arrange exhibition fights from time to time. but should not think of going active again. enjoy his retirement while he has no health issues.
We're all agreeing that he should retire and I guess these show matches are his words for his retirement. He's not going to take any longer professional fights and that's a sign of his retirement just like Floyd Mayweather.
But, at the same time, he's still making huge money if there will be some exhibition matches that are not for a charity cause. That will surely still him bag a lot of money because he's still that popular and now a living legend.
Making money would be the main target and its true that despite on being retired and on the time that they would be launching up some exhibition fights then they are really still been considered and thats the beauty
of being popular and legend on a certain sport where fans all over the world wouldn't really be forgetting on who you are and on the time that you do have some matches
then people would still simply tend to watch it out and purchase or having those ppv's or tickets on such venue.

That's why we call it an exhibition fight, they would not fight without benefiting from it, and the fact that they entertain the fans, means they are getting paid as well. Making money is just so easy for a popular icon like Manny Pacman, and whoever he fights next, whether he loses or wins, his popularity will still remain.

The reality is that as long as Betfury ends up being used and all, it should be fine but if there are less and less people who gamble here then it will never be worth something, BFG will be one of the gone ones and not the good ones.

I am pretty sure that they are working hard to make sure that Betfury stays afloat and makes a lot of profit, but we are in a bear market so it is a bit harder to convince people to gamble the very little money they have left already. It would be a lot better during bull run because not only BFG price will go up, but there would also be a lot more people who make a ton of profit from trading come here and gamble with it.
as long as the casinos remain consistent in maintaining the value of their tokens of course investors will invest in BFG tokens during this bearish market as long as there are still many active gamblers in their casinos, this is a tough task for casinos to spoil gamblers so they don't go to play elsewhere and keep playing in the casino they are doing a lot of promotions so they can make gamblers feel at home, the more players the more valuable this token will be in the future  Wink

Sure that  might be true but then again, that depends on what you mean by casinos remaining consistent in maintaining the value of their tokens. There will always be dips and dumps as well as pumps and moons. Everything that goes up must come down. So you cannot really judge a casino by short term value but rather you would have to look at the all time-value of their tokens/coins. Meaning, if you invested from the very beginning, would you have made a decent profit or would you have lost money?

I think the more large, institutional investors, the more valuable the token. The amount that the players bring is quite tiny, compared to that.

Bitcoin update:
There is a high chance price moves back up to the 17500-17700 area then drop hard to 10k.
This move will be quick and could manipulate many traders and in the process price will print a double top pattern that could look like the one below.

I don't know about you guys but I think the complexity of current AI is being given a bit too much credit here. I can totally smell when some text is fake and generic. Its all about the subtlety. And even if somebody created a bot to bump posts or cheat signature campaigns, I think we would be able to detect it. Perhaps not immediately but there would be signs at some point. Humans make mistakes. Grammar, typos, thinking errors like brain farts. You cannot really replicate those tiny human imperfections perfectly and they are what makes us what we are (yet).
