1641  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: QUESTION: For Gambling Enthusiasts ❗❗ on: February 02, 2023, 10:18:08 AM
Is PvP gaming a thing?
Is it fun to compete against strangers for money? Does it provide the same level of comfort and convenience as casino games?
I mean, I've seen couple of threads here about some decent PvP games, but I'm not sure if people really do prefer this sort of gaming, specially in terms of the fun and the ROI.

If you are familiar with the PvP gambling topic, which of the following would you pick if you had $10–$100 and felt like gambling?

1. Casino A:
Normal casino where players play Slot games, BlackJack, Rollet, baccarat, Crazy, and the rest of casino games with the chance of winning large chunk of money.

2. Casino B:
PvP casino where players compete against each others in games such as Poker, Rummy, Ludo, 8Pool, Monopoly, Race Cars, Flipcoin, etc..., with the prize being your opponents buy-in amounts.

If you don't want to express your thoughts, simply answer with A or B.

Ok, thought-provoking questions in the gambling subforum today, but I will try my utmost best to give you a clear answer.

As much as I completely adore games where you do not have to play against another human, for example slots, I also very much enjoy playing with other people. Not because I win their money (although the sensation of "schadenfreude" is exciting, when you win their hard earned money), but because at some point, playing alone does start to become a bit lonely.

We are social animals, after all. My vote is for people vs people.
1642  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Using AI to predict outcomes on: February 02, 2023, 01:36:45 AM
ChatGPT is all the rage at the moment. I’ve seen that people are asking it to predict sporting events. Would you leave gambling decisions up to artificial intelligence? Do you see any potential drawbacks for outsourcing your bets to a software program? Has anyone here tried this yet? Do we need someone to put together a thread of ChatGPT predictions to see how accurate they are?  Any other thoughts?

Chatgpt is way too overblown and overexaggerated for absolutely no reason. Sure, ChatGPT is an amazing AI technology which almost could be mistaken for human, the way it sources and does research on anything it is asked, but it is really far from ideal. Any human can do better. This also goes for gambling predictions. I would rather trust my gut feeling and my own research than some AI novelty bot which is slightly more advanced than the other AI bots circulating on the artificial intelligence market.

Not that I believe outcomes in gambling can even be predicted at all...  Roll Eyes
1643  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 31, 2023, 09:22:05 PM
Well then, was math discovered or invented?

If you were to completely destroy all books, websites, etc. on mathematics and wipe all memories and knowledge on math from everybody's memories, eventually people would rediscover math. Sure, the symbols, numbers and letters might look different (the number 5 might look like this ->◢) but the axioms (rules of math) would still be the same. 2 apples added to 2 apples will always result in 4 apples.

Bitcoin, on the other hand, is built on the foundations of different technologies. We would first have to invent a computer which works exactly like today's computers work (0s and 1s), then we would have to invent the internet exactly the way it is, and we would have to invent the concept of money exactly the way it is and so on.

If we were to reset all of civilization, who says Bitcoin would be technologically possible or even required (For example in a money-less civilization?)

I see.  So goldkingcoiner does not subscribe to the assertion that bitcoin was discovered.   Angry Angry Angry Angry

Depends on the perspective. We discovered Bitcoin. Satoshi invented Bitcoin.
1644  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 31, 2023, 07:57:02 PM

This reminded me of below meme I saw long back…

“We will never know who invented fire”

“We will never know who invented Bitcoin”

Nobody invented fire. Fire was discovered. It is not an invention but rather a natural phenomenon just like gravity and therefore there is nothing special about itWhich is why Newton died a virgin.

Bitcoin, on the other hand, is a brilliant invention.

Bitcoin > Fire.
1645  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 284: Makhachev vs. Volkanovski on: January 31, 2023, 07:52:38 PM
Size and weight are so relevant in wrestling and grappling departments. That this fight makes no sense in my opinion.

Takedowns would be difficult to defend if Volkanovski were a similar mass and weight to Makhachev. Being at a disadvantage increases the difficulty factor.

The difference in mass is only 5 KG so its not really that much to go on. Does that much weight really make a difference in any sports event? I would say no.

The height on the other hand is quite a gap between them and I think that will be more of an influence on striking power, from a physics standpoint. So my money would be on Volkanovski. Although I do not know much about him and have not yet seen many of his fights yet. I do find it hilarious that the Australian has a more russian-sounding name than the russian boxxer. Grin Tongue

Makhachev might have a couple of years more experience in boxxing but that does not seem to have put his career far above Volkanovskis. Still, Volkanovski has more to gain from this fight. I think that motivation alone will make him fight harder.

Smart money's on the australian boxxer, Volkanovski.
1646  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Being Lonely drives you towards Gambling....! on: January 31, 2023, 01:52:12 PM
Does anybody have this experience or this is happening with me. Most of my gambling losses have taken place when I feel lonely.
Today one such incident have taken place. I've kept my last few weeks signature earning aside to meet some medical needs. Today my mother got hospitalised and I'm her attender. She is supposed to take a minor surgery as her vision isn't clear. She's been taken to the Operation Theatre and I was left alone in the room. If anything required the nursing staff would call me. By thos time my mind didn't think about anything. All of the sudden why don't you gamble? and I started and made 0.009BTC close to 0.01BTC and the greed didn't left me. Finally lost all my month's earning kept aside.

Through this I would like to remind be careful when you are alone. If your mind wish to gamble, go for it. But don't consider it as a way to pass your time and keep on wagering. The outcome might hurt, because most of the time loneliness is felt when our mind is in a bad mood. Some enjoy being lonely, but the reality used to be different.

I think the loneliness is really the symptom of something a bit deeper which could be something like depression. And depression itself is just a symptom of a dysfunctional dopamine regulation in one's brain. Gambling really gives you a dopamine rush which makes you really happy for a short while but you need to keep doing it over and over again to retain that dopamine rush. Just like with drugs.

Its better to find the reason why your dopamine is low and fix it instead of relying on short fixes.
1647  Economy / Gambling / Re: PVP Games Lounge launching soon on: January 30, 2023, 03:29:50 PM
I am happy to announce me and my team are developing couple of table games , that will be played versus player and multi player tournaments , a public chat room for players:
more information will be released , we are building it around a Defi Token project for it to get enough publicity for the games platform.

Sounds interesting but your lack of detail leaves a lot out and a bit more information might be nice.

Why exactly does your project need a defi token? How is it going to compliment the entire system?

When you say "table games" I assume one of the very first games you are going to introduce is going to be poker? Are there going to be introductory games? What about bonuses? I think it would be a good idea perhaps if you were to integrate the bitcointalk community more strongly into the community events. That would give you a small starter crowd who will market your project even further.
1648  Economy / Speculation / Do you consider spreading FUD to be unethical? on: January 30, 2023, 12:51:15 PM
We hear it all the time in the news and even here on this forum - Scary price drop speculations based completely on fake/exaggerated news or on something without any kind of substance.

While we can all agree that panic selling is newbie domain, there are also veterans who love spreading Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt. These are the people who know from experience that the Bitcoin price will definitely rise, but they can't resist buying discount BTC off of panic sellers.

Bear-whales and smaller traders alike spread FUD for the reason of scaring investors and pushing down the Bitcoin price.

Do you consider this FUD-spreading unethical or do "shaky hands" get what they deserve?

1650  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Hit And Run Gambling - Can The House Be Beaten This way? on: January 30, 2023, 11:57:48 AM
Hi gamblers, it's a simple question I want to ask...

Remember it is said that, in gambling, the house always wins, I Want us to look at this two scenarios and tell if this are not actually a way to win/beat the house..

Imagine yourself as a new gambler who just joined a casino, played a few dollars and with luck on your side, you win money running into thousands of dollars, will withdrawing your money plus winnings from that casino, never to return there to play again, mean you have beaten that casino?

Secondly, imagine that on your first day of gambling, you gambled $200 and in the process, won money running into hundreds of thousands of dollars, you withdraw the money and start up your own business, and never returned to gambling again, isn't this one way to beat the house?

Ok so what happens if the situation is the other way around? If you go to a casino, played and lost your money. Do you leave and never come back? In that case, would you consider that also winning?

I do not think that planning on being lucky once and then leaving forever is any better than staying and gambling and hoping on staying lucky to keep on winning but if you have already won, then yes, taking the money and leaving would definitely leave you a winner with a profit.

I just do not think its possible to plan for luck, so the situation is hypothetical.

Bitcoin price seems to be increasing with time but we cannot confirm a bull until some more resistances are broken. specially the wall at 25200 and 31900.

There is no wall.

Then what are we observing?  Huh
1652  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 29, 2023, 09:41:30 PM

There's so much to do in that game, probably my favorite open world game ever. But you have to unlock a good portion of content by completing some missions first.

My favorite pasttime is getting the two Grove Street gangs to fight each other. As Franklin, you travel to the blue gang neighborhood, start some shit, and slowly lure them down the street and across the intersection. Then the green gang automatically starts shooting at them, and chaos ensues.

Tailing cops is also fun. Usually they will eventually turn on their sirens and speed toward a car whose driver happens to have a gun, then they get into a shootout with them. Getting gangs to fight the cops is also a good time.

Oh definitely. GTA 5 is fun but they made the game so large and detailled that my attention starts to wander after a short while and I cannot really concentrate on playing the story mode anymore. So I just start screwing around.

There are annoying parts though. Like when you go up a somewhat steep hill and your character falls down and slowly rolls down the hill for like 5 minutes? Its so ridiculous. I can't handle the road rage whenever someone crashes into me. At that point out comes the attack helicopter cheat Cheesy
1653  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is getting ready for $25K, How? on: January 29, 2023, 09:36:05 PM

IMO 25k is not really a resistance. It was never a significant level both on the way up and down. It was never defended for a long time and it didn't have a lot of volume. 29-30k is much more important. Everything below 30k should be considered a depression and undervaluation.

I would have to agree with you. It would seem to me that 25k is rather a psychological resistance rather than an actual resistance. 28-30k seems to be the next area of resistance if you look at the chart using technical analysis.

But then again, it might not be wise to underestimate the effect of psychological numbers, especially in trading. We might see a surprise bear trap around 25k but I doubt we will have much trouble after that.

I definitely will not panic no matter what happens once we hit 25k.
1654  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are there gambling games/sports that suits a particular gender the more? on: January 29, 2023, 09:18:19 PM
I doubt that there are currently any gambling games or sports which are specifically targeted towards different genders but then again, I could be wrong, since we know that psychological tricks like with specific sounds and lights are used to lure people into gambling more, so why not a psychological approach towards genders?

That being said, I think the male gender are risk takers, more so than the women. So it might now be worth creating gender approaches when most gamblers are men. Its better to market to the male. We see this for example in games like slots where women are used sexually sometimes to create a more enticing game.

In conclusion, obviously men are the main "customers" in the gambling world. I think we can all agree on that.
1655  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Medical student wins lottery 5 times after embezzling graduation funds on: January 28, 2023, 10:05:35 AM
A brazilian medicine college student diverted almost 200.000$ from the graduation comission's funds, which belonged to her whole class, to place high bets through the national lottery.

She won sometimes on short run, but after all, faced a huge loss and went into almost 40.000$ debt. After scamming the lottery, the police department was triggered and the investigation has started.

She was investigated for money laundering and embezzlement. Later on, it was discovered the funds' origin.

Meanwhile, the class students became suspicious about the situation after the woman told on her class Whatsapp's group funds raised for graduation were lost after she invested it in a brokerage firm and was scammed by it, but no further documents and evidences could be provided, because everything was robbed!

Since then, no more updates about the case have been shared on the news. It happened about 2 weeks ago.

Medical student wins lottery 5 times after embezzling graduation funds

This is what addiction does to people, unfortunately. And addiction is a very real disease even if some people scoff at that very notion. I am not going to feel sorry for her, as her actions were her own and she deserves the punishments that she will undoubtedly receive, but I can definitely say that at the very least, I understand.

Had she the self control to stop at a profit, she might have covertly been able to put the money back where it belongs, without anyone noticing and she would have made a profit as well. Not that I condone gambling with stolen money. Just saying.

It seems towards the end she just became desperate.
1656  Economy / Gambling / Re: What do you appreciate more Desktop or Phone on: January 28, 2023, 08:42:27 AM
Desktop applications are forever above mobile applications in my book. There is just so much more you can do and its much more detailled. Not mentioning the fact that I hate tiny screens. They are bad for your eyes and extremely uncomfortable to navigate. Its like comparing typing on a keyboard vs typing on that little screen- it becomes very slow and annoying on a phone.

If you really need mobility you can just take a small laptop with you. The only advantage of a phone at that point is you can take it to places you could not take a small laptop. Like to the toilet for example.

But if you are that addicted to a screen that you need to take it with you to the loo, then perhaps the problem lies elsewhere?

I just finally started GTA 5 a few days ago...

As usual with any GTA game, about a couple of hours into the game I get bored and try out the cheats. They actually put a 5 minute timer on the invincibility in GTA 5... How annoying.

The EU has legalized putting these bugs in foods:

They need to be listed on the ingredients so that people allergic to it can avoid them.

Well, technically we eat bugs all the time. They can't filter out each single one of the mealworms before grinding up wheat to make flour for example. But I agree, this is just gross and I do not want even MORE bugs in my food. But they will find a way to hide the bugs. Probably by changing the name of the "ingredient" or something.
1658  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is this safe to say this about casino platforms on: January 27, 2023, 07:02:00 PM
Is it safe to say that casino platforms is running their business with users find only? I read somewhere that they pay winners with losers money, I couldn't ask him or her if a casino can start business with zero fund at hand, I know that most of them wired their system to favour them more ( lose more and win less ) , if not they will run out of business fast I belief, what do you think about this? Was I wrong about this? Come to think of this, there is no prove that they have some money to pay winners.

I would assume that any serious casino, whether new or not, always has funds in order to pay their winners. House edge may be good and well but lady luck does not always care about probabilities. What happens if a new casino has to pay a big win and does not have the money? Legally, they would find themselves in hot water quite fast. I guess this is one of the reasons we keep hearing about small/unprofessional casinos withholding winnings on arbitrary grounds until they earn enough money from other players to finally settle the score.
1659  Other / Off-topic / Re: White Card entered in Football !!! on: January 27, 2023, 05:12:00 PM
The white card, huh? The first thought that came into my mind was this was the new way for forfeiting the match... Roll Eyes Tongue

Seems like a very strange concept similar to the "everybody is a winner" trophies which are given out to every participant, regardless of their achievements. I am not sure why we need to positively reinforce people during the game itself instead of giving such recognition "trophies" at the end of the game but I guess we can try out the white card for a while and see if the players play better.

1660  Economy / Gambling / Re: How best to report vulnerabilities? on: January 27, 2023, 04:04:52 PM
So I discovered a bug affecting a mode of play at OwlGames casinos that results in certain games rewarding more money than they should.  I tried to report it to OwlGames but was told that they have no bug bounty program and to "enjoy the bug" (not kidding).  (of course their docs say that any "exploit" can result in not being paid out, but it's not an exploit if it's simply how things run under the given conditions - not that that would stop them from screwing someone over I'm sure)

Their poor attitude certainly doesn't do much to make me want to help them out anymore although that was my intent.

But since it is only certain games, from 1 provider, should I try to contact that provider instead?  It's possible I imagine that it's not just OwlGames that might possibly lose money to the issue, though I really don't know.

I guess since these are casinos, losing a couple hundred to a few players every few days that would otherwise not have won anything maybe is just a drop in the bucket.  But I found it so strange that they immediately just alerted me that they have no bounty program.  Aren't casinos supposed to be pretty protective of their money even if they have a ton of it?  Huh

Anyone else have any experiences of trying to report issues like this?  I want to be rewarded for my time verifying the issue without taking advantage of it and alerting someone about it, too, so I'm also just worried about giving the info out and having them come up with some excuse like "oh it just needed a restart it's fine now, that's not a bug."

You definitely did the right thing by contacting the casino discreetly but their answer puzzles me too. Perhaps they thought you were not being serious or that you were trying to dupe them into paying you money or something? I cannot imagine any casino willingly losing profits. Or even worse, not caring about the stability and security of the casino website itself...

It definitely is a strange thing.

Unprofessionality of the casino aside, if they gave you the green light to exploit the bug then I guess you should take their advice and squeeze as much money out of them as you want. And they have no right to complain later, since they told you to go ahead.
