2921  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What services you wanna see with Bitcoin ? on: August 22, 2017, 12:51:42 PM
The services I am longing to see around my area is groceries selling that accepts bitcoin because that is one key thing that is still missing. I want to be able to enter a super market then get some daily needs and pay from my wallet with seconds, it confirms. I dont need to carry cash or my ATMs just because I need to buy things. Also, there should be a clause that I can claim more should in case the price of bitcoin increase within reasonable time frame.
2922  Economy / Speculation / Re: If price of BTC reach 50K who is going to buy? on: August 22, 2017, 07:08:15 AM
I just sat down reasoning about everybody's decision to  hold or keep their BTC, if the price of BTC reaches 50K today who is going to buy at that price? then there will be many sellers and few buyers,  is the reasons for holding or keeping the BTC justifiable? please some convincing explanations.

Your concern is very much valid and equally on point but you also should know that at this point that the price is still running into few thousands of dollars, it still not affordable for several people at the same time others are buying but Satoshi has made avenue for that too and that's why there are units in bitcoin where you can buy if you cannot afford a whole bitcoin.
2923  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin (BTC) be killed by BCC soon? on: August 22, 2017, 06:33:28 AM
the keyword that OP failed to mention in all his ramblings is temporary
the difficulty is lowered temporarily.
the blocks are being mined faster temporarily.
bitcoin cash is more profitable to mine because of the above 2, temporarily.
the price is higher and pumped temporarily.
the drama that it has caused will last for a short time (temporarily.)

bitcoin price may drop but that will be temporarily.
and since the hashrate for bitcoin has not changed i don't thing anything else about mining "bitcoin" will change though.
I agree with you on this and that is where a lot of people will get it wrong and the moment you want to create a coin, just go ahead with it without shinning on the glory of an already established job and that is exactly the situation with all this forks being promoted by group of developers and miners alike.  I hope all this temporary issues can just go off at one so we focus on what matter.
2924  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin hitting the next level... requirements. on: August 21, 2017, 02:24:47 PM
In order for bitcoin to hit levels of $250,000+...... it will need to be accepted and marketed everywhere. So far, Microsoft accepts bitcoin. This could be the ice breaker and the door opener for other companies such as Apple, Sony, Google, etc down the road, eventually leading to retailers such as Walmart and franchise such as Mcdonalds.

In order for bitcoin to take off to levels that seem ridiculous right now, we will need to see the average Joe not only be holding bitcoin..... but also be spending it. (In this case, $250,000 could possibly be severely underestimated)

The issue about this happening will largely mean a change in our orientation in the way we all see bitcoin because quite a number of us are seeing it as an asset and thereby hoarding it with the expectation that price will increase but for it to get the massive attention, it needs to be available and affordable because without that, we will continue to be stuck at a growing currency which is still growing after 8 years or thereabout
2925  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are we already rich, gentleman? on: August 21, 2017, 01:14:56 PM
I am not rich yet which is the case for many people as bitcoin does not offer free lunch without any work, but most of us will equally agree that we were not where we used to be since our encounter with bitcoin whether early or late. Also, we will also agree that if things goes according to trend, then the path to riches is somehow clear and even being seen at the front and this is the right path at this time. What matter most this time, is not to be discouraged and never compromise the standard or try to cut corners. Very soon we will get there.
2926  Other / Meta / Re: Scammers are not banned on: August 21, 2017, 10:34:54 AM
Ok I heard this is the way it is.
Now just to understand this way of thinking,
what is the reason behind this?
why are Scammers not banned?
Because they'll just create a new account immediately?
Make it much harder to register here.
Introduce much harsher filters.
Make them have to pass a Quiz or something like that.

I'd also like to vouch for a 2 week registration lock
If you register you have to wait 2 weeks to make your first post
Another idea would be to additionally force everyone who would like to register to send in a BTC microtransaction, eg  3$-5$

The trust system seems to be fundamentally broken and doesn't help stop the scammers at all.
Need a reputation system on top of this. Like 2000 Bitcointalk members -1 a user (scammer)'s reputation => account automatically locked, must contact admins to unfreeze

Crush the scammers hard - don't give them their breeding ground to be happy (as now).

Right now they laugh. Make them shiver.

I understand your point coming from that end and I could equally suggested that if I fall a victim as well but those suggested point are too strenuous if implemented to the latter and may even have its own fall back. The forum Administrators as well as other reputable high ranking members are really doing alot in keeping the forum clean but the population is high to keep tab on every activities. Also, if you look at every sections where trade and loss of money are being done, there is always a sticky warnings and guidelines in other to keep innocent people safe but some people will choose to ignore and then fall victim. The onus is on everyone to keep himself safe and never trust blindly.
2927  Other / Meta / Re: 2FA to Active on Bitcointalk Forum (Requested to Admin) on: August 21, 2017, 09:39:20 AM
Dear All,
Please request to Admin to active 2FA While Login in Bitcointalk Forum
Like : Via Email or Google Authentication !!

Thanks

I really dont see the need for this in addition to the one we currently have which is to a large extent has been very effective. I am also sure that when the forum administrators deemed it necessary that it should be added then they would definitely do without anyone trying to make them do it. Also, people dont go through 2FA for its sake there will be some cogent reasons and serious security challenge to make that a possibility and if its going to be implemented, then it should be made optional.
2928  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cartel manipulating mining difficulty? on: August 21, 2017, 06:30:07 AM
I have read a lot of things about how the miners have done one bad thing or the other. To the manipulation of fees to the launching of bitcoin cash and now manipulating mining difficulty. In as much as I not speaking for them, be we also need to acknowledge some of the good things they have done for bitcoin because they made it available and even made our transactions possible. They also held to the faith long before some of use even find our way here. But my thinking is that if they could have so much control then Satoshi should have curtail that at the beginning.
2929  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Where can i report a crypto crime? on: August 21, 2017, 06:01:32 AM
Where to report a cybercrime?

To the nearest police station, just as you would report a normal crime. Some police stations might have specialized teams to deal with cyber crimes, which may help you.

Nearest police station? Where they would even cost you more heart breaks than before. You can report for record purpose though, but don't expect anything tangible to come from it because the knowledge has not spread to the career officers who have been in service for decades and couple with the fact that the transaction could cut across borders with costs of conducting an investigation will even be more than the amount intended to be recovered. The most important is to be more careful and move on.
2930  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin split to Bitcoin Cash! (BCH) Yep! You probably owe IRS a lot of $$$. on: August 21, 2017, 05:39:22 AM
After reading the first few lines of Ops submission, I disagreed with some of the salient facts there. Capital gains arises when you sell and the value at the point of sale. I did agree that 20% after one year is on the high side as in my country its 10% although bitcoin sale does not form part of it. Now in the case of BCH, technically, its not your investment rather is it your sweat its free money and asking for 20% is not too much and the 20% remains the same whether you sell for 12$ or you sell for 700$ the moment you sell, it becomes realizable gains.
2931  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Not Declaring Bitcoin Income on: August 20, 2017, 07:31:27 PM
Here in my country which is now an upcoming tiger economy (though we are still classified as a third-world country), we are free to participate in Bitcoin both buying and selling as the government is treating Bitcoin just like any other foreiign money.

However, I am sure that only a very, very small fraction of us are declaring our Bitcoin income. It seems to me that the government is not that interested to get strict with individuals as long as they can tax the Bitcoin exchange provider for the service rendered.

I am then wondering the situation with other countries. Can your government really be able to track if you never declared gains made from Bitcoin transactions?

For the advanced countries, I think tracking wouldn't be as hard as it it sound but for third world countries and developing country, they have more issues to tackle than handling bitcoin or giving it attention to a high level. They will even appreciate you for declaring that little willingly rather than spending more money chasing after you to get that little from you. For you I would say it won't last long but for now, enjoy your tax free income pending the time they will be ready to face you.
2932  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Question really stuck me! on: August 20, 2017, 05:23:13 PM
Don't forget that the fact that there are loaded addresses on the blockchain doesn't mean that they belong to a single person. THat's a common mistake made by newbies. They see raw data and think those "people" will dump and influence the price.
In reality some of those addresses (like Satoshi's) weren't used for a very long time. Their owners might be dead or lost their private keys.
Some other addresses store coins that belong to hundreds of people (exchange cold wallets, corporate addresses).

This is really a valid point because some of this wallet are equally owned by gambling sites in the case of those having high bank roll or exchange sites that the coins is not even their own but hold in trust for other people. Which means part of the 1percent masses have their funds spread to other part of the higher category. Also, the people involved by default their ideologies is not wealth creation as most of them got the mass of the bitcoin as compensation and because they believed in it. Even as at the price that could make them millionaires in today's world, none of them have tried to get the fame for themselves.
2933  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How can you tell if you are suffering from gambling addiction? on: August 20, 2017, 02:06:49 PM
It is not that hard to tell people are addicted or not, if the gambler gamble everyday and dont really care about the losing money and willing to sacrifice and used all of his wealth for gambling then that person is addicted to gambling

There is no point in differentiating between someone who is addicted or someone who is not. The moment you play gambling, your winnings is more than your losses then the issue of addiction does not come in for whatever reason. It simply works for you and nothing more. But when your losses is more than winnings but you still kept playing, then that's where the problem is. For Mr, I play I win and I lose the moment of the average my losses is more, I stop playing.
2934  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What would you do? on: August 20, 2017, 12:46:46 PM
What will you do with your last balance? Waiting for the right moment before made a bet or because I like sports betting sometimes I bet on the game that will end? i do that because no more chance for me so i think better i'm rely on luck.
In my own case I would prefer to withdraw the amount but in the case the amount is below the minimum then I will wait for the right moment for games like Real Madrid and one other team or Barcelona and one other team. In the case of England team, I would then wait for when Manchester and one small team will be playing like that of yesterday before giving a run for my last balance.
2935  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Free fixed match on: August 20, 2017, 11:10:23 AM
Hi guys, I had topic here 6 months ago where i shared acc details and matches and now want to do simillar so for start free fixed match:
Itf Artvin Kempen Magali to beat Samantha Murray at odds 2.66
Of all the artificial ways to make money from gambling, sports betting is the most guarded secret of all and won't believe its going to be this cheap. I admit that games are fixed but not this simple where people will get to pay huge amount of money to even to have a peep into the direction of the things. I will watching out on this to know whether its match fixing or just a guess based on alignment with the team playing.
2936  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can Bitcoin Still Go Up? on: August 20, 2017, 06:15:12 AM
Now that it's been proven there are many other alternatives to Bitcoin which have advantages such as quicker transactions, smaller fees, and higher mining profitability, I don't see a reason to think Bitcoin will get to $10,000.

Will the price of Bitcoin still go up? It seems so outdated when compared to its competitors.

All those advantages the alternatives have has always been there every now and then new coin is developed to be next bitcoin but every of those attempt, bitcoin still came out on top in which all these won't be otherwise. Also, all those alternatives are not the ones being adopted by organisations or the one former PayPal COO is making comparison with. So, we are just starting, it won't be  easy, but we will get there
2937  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: November fork, name for next BTC on: August 20, 2017, 05:26:11 AM
Whatever they like they should give it as the name and create more confusion on the mainstream but one thing will be constant, it mill be treated as an alt on the forum, several exchange sites will equally follow the same,  while making some ridiculous release here and there, there will also be several discussions for and against the subject matter but at the end, the confidence in Satoshi's version of bitcoin will be the lead and everyone will be back to where we started in the first place.
2938  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you agree that Bitcoin is nearly to be just like another business? on: August 19, 2017, 02:36:39 PM
BITCOIN is businesss ...
its easy to access .. now i can paybills using bitcoin wallet ... and i can do investments and trading
though we must be careful and watch the market bout it ...
we can earn on it though we can loose our savinngs too !!! so be careful

If you look at it that way, then bitcoin is not business in itself rather, its a wheel or machinery to make business transaction possible. Everything you are able to do is payment for services received in the mode of payment used in the transaction is not a party to. In essence, bitcoin is used as a medium of exchange.
2939  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: TVE | TheViralExchange | P2P Marketing | Earn BTC with Social Media | on: August 19, 2017, 08:32:54 AM
I tried reaching the site too but it seems its no longer there and no one to ask about it since Op has not even been seen in a long time. I hope they come back soon for the sake of those who keep some coins on the site and even some form of increased confidence on their own part and the crypto community in general.
2940  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ? Increase fees to lower spam ; Decrease fees higher spam ? on: August 19, 2017, 05:34:40 AM
you just created a statement yourself and then ask us what "you" said means?! that is weird Shocked

fees are there to do 2 things:
1. to compensate for the work that miners do in the far away future when a couple more halvings have happened and the block reward is small.
2. to prevent spam attack because it becomes more and more expensive for a spammer to keep the attack up.

in this case, increasing the block size to 8 MB does not solve anything at all. if anything it makes things even worse. a lower fee means a cheaper attack.
the fact that nobody has yet performed a spam attack on BCH is firstly because the blocks are completely empty (mostly ~100 kB) and also it can mean the people who were spamming bitcoin were supporting BCH!

In as much as there is nothing wrong in compensating the works of the miners which I have no issue with but it been too high is a concern for many which might eventually reduce the influence of bitcoin and people will start considering other options. Although, not technically equipped but my understanding of August 1 is to increase the block size of bitcoin to cater of the increased volume of transactions but it seems that is not what is happening here as the increase is for another coin entirely which means the reduced fees witnessed now is just temporary.
