301  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Solution for 1060 5Gb and P102-100 5Gb to continue mining ETHASH on: April 19, 2022, 07:44:15 AM
Hi,

After new epoch 487 my 1060 5Gb and P102-100 5Gb, have stop working. I tried different miners and only lolMiner is working. Let's see how many time still working.

Use Linux to extend your mining with 5GB cards. Windows reserve some Vram for the windows stuff - this i why not enough space for the DAG. With linux you can extend mining for month´s.
By the way - why you not unlock the full 10GB from you P102-100 card? It is possible on every P102-100 5GB and P104-100 4GB.
302  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH merge postponed on: April 14, 2022, 08:36:15 AM
Are you guys aware that the PoS merge has been postponed? This is good news, those that invested in graphic cards in January of the year can make most of their money back by December, I believe that merge isn't coming this year,  Grin enjoy the last stage of ETH mining felllas.

You don´t get your money back in 1 year. Nearly every GPU need more than 1 year for the amortization.
Nothing new, was predicted by many people.
303  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best mining build, I think on: April 13, 2022, 01:34:35 PM
With just 10 pieces of 3090s you are already at 1GH on the Ethash algorithm, why aren't people doing this instead of having so many GPUs around, taking so much space and having to use more risers and more motherboard, why are people not going this way?.

Hmm sorry why should i buy a gpu for 2000€ or now for 1800€? Because it has over 100mh? Sorry this heat problems with GDDR6x, the efficiency is also not the best.
I prefer RX5700 - consumes around 120w and do up to 55mh - for me the better W/MH ratio
No many bought AMD Vega7 3 years ago - they do 100mh at 200w for 700€ (at the release), much better than the RTX 3090.

I also have a couple of AMD 6600xt running at 0 - 25% fan and temp is around 55°C, so nearly noiseless and really no heat. Different person prefer different things, and not all have the money to start with GPU´s for 2000€.
When i see the market - if you want a gpu that make over 2$ a day you must pay around 600€ - in 2017 we bought GPU´s for 200€ with the same reward. The same thing happens with asic - an s9 cost me 2000€ in 2017 and it make up to 20€ daily. Now miners cost 10000$ and make the same money.
304  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining CPU, RAM, SDD/HDD on: April 13, 2022, 12:47:04 PM
Hello friends,

Another question, I've heard time and time again that CPU, RAM, and SSD/HDD does not affect mining.

I want to know the specifics as to why it does or does not. If anyone is able to break it down for me or lead me towards the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.

When mining use the GPU, how can affect the CPU the mining hashrate - right in no way. This is a no brainer

Only generally true, mainly for ETH....depending on the algo, and other factors, the cpu/ram can make a considerable difference to hash rate...the possibilities are endless, but i mine 1 coin that requires 1 core (not thread) and 4GB system ram, per GPU,  if i run 6 cards on a 4t/8t 16GB system i get less than half the performance as 6c12t 32gb ram...like i say, it GENERALLY makes zero difference, but some algos are very tricky.....advisers should not assume that the poster only wants to mine ETH, etc.

Same goes to newbie posters, please give as much detail as possible in your questions? What coin / algo, what specs of pc are you using / considering....all info help us, help you

J

When the Coin is GPU mineable, the cpu has no affect. If the cpu have an real impact on the hashrate, than because the algos needs some CPU power, but i know no coin.
But generally, all GPU coins get no benefits with bigger CPU´s. But you can write the coin you mean to correct me.
305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Beginner Mining Rig on: April 13, 2022, 12:40:59 PM
Hello Friends,

Be advised this is a longer post, I am very curious and as you can see for yourself in a few moments, very serious about mining. I want to learn more, I want to follow through with this. So if you don't have anything productive to say, please do not waste your time with this post.
Now, I’m new to this so if there is anything at all that my ignorance is not allowing me to see, please shine some light on it.

For the past 3 months, I have been trying to research and investigate crypto mining and I feel comfortable enough to attempt to build my very own rig.
After many long hours, I finally want to begin thinking about purchasing a few key components. However, I ran into a few problems and I am hoping I can find some solution here.

Key Aspects of my build
1) I want to build a rig that is modular so that I can expand when I am financially available
2) I want to begin with two 3060ti GPUs

Problem 1
Power Supply

- How do you calculate the number of watts needed for your GPUs?  In my case, I want to power two GPUs that require a total of 400 watts. So then do I buy a 500w power supply to cover my needs running at 80% efficiency.
- When do want to add more GPUs? Would it be correct to assume that I need to purchase another 500w power supply to support another two 2060ti GPUs
And if I have understood this correctly, should I just buy a 1000w power supply in the first place?
- Question; Should I only trust 80 Plus certified power supplies or can I cheap out for a Chinese model.

Problem 2
Motherboards

- I did have a hard time understanding motherboards. So instead of asking, I am just going to tell you what I know.
- There are five types of PCI slots x1, x4, x6, x8, and x16
- There are different transfer data rates. 2.0, 3.0, 4.0. The higher the better. My question with this topic is, does it actually matter purchasing a 3.0 vs a 4.0. I understand that there is a speed difference, but more so I am asking if there is a noticeable difference.
- Risers and splitters give you the option to have your GPUs connected elsewhere on your rig
- Those are the main parts that I understood, now some questions that I have
- Question; how do you find or calculate the maximum amount of GPUs that a given motherboard is capable of running efficiently?
- Question; is it best to buy a motherboard that has a set number of PCI-e slots and only use what is available? Or can I buy a motherboard that has, say 4 PCI-e slots, and use four splitters giving a total of 16 PCI-e slots that are available to use efficiently.

Problem 3
Hardware

Now that I am here I might as well triple check the hardware that I need in order to have a fully operating Mining Rig using NiceHash
- Some sort of frame
- Motherboard
- CPU that fits the motherboard
- CPU cooling fan? (optional? Or is it highly recommended)
- Nvidia GPU(s)
- Powersupply
- Risers
- Splitters (if this route is available)
- M.2 (i have no idea what this is or how many I need) (is this an SSD)
- RAM (also do know how much I need, will 2x 8GB, 16GB total be enough? They perform better if they are from the same manufacturer or can use different manufacturers)
- Storage (I’ve read I don't need a lot, so I'm guessing 500GB. Is it worthwhile to purchase a 1TB)

For those who stuck around until the very end, thank you, I truly appreciate it. For those willing to hand out guidance, I will be eternally grateful and in your debt.

It doesn´t matter what pcie slot it is - you only need x1 slots, all other are compatible.
PCIe gen doesn´t matter - all over PCIe 2.0 is enough.
You Power efficiency calculation is wrong. If you need 400w and your PSU has a efficiency of 80% than your rigs pulls 500w. But if you use the total power of the 500w - it takes 625w from the wall. The wattage on the psu´s are the max internal power - the power from the wall is higher because of the efficiency.

Storage - depends on your OS. For linux you only need a 8GB USB Stick, Windows the cheapest SSD drive between 128gb - 256gb
RAM - 8GB is enough. You only need 1 Modul. Dual channel has no effect for mining.

- Question; how do you find or calculate the maximum amount of GPUs that a given motherboard is capable of running efficiently?
= What? You buy the motherboard you need. Only you know how much GPU´s you want in 1 rig - a mainboard run always with same power draw, doesn´t matter how much gpu´s you install. So best is to add many gpu´s as possible to 1 mainboard.

No one calculate how much power a gpu draw, everyone test it by itself with a wattmeter. Online you can find all information how much power the gpu need.
You should buy the power supply you need. Not to big and not to small. The GPU´s must use up to max 70% of the power from you PSU.

M.2 are an interface. Some M.2 sockets are connected via PCIe, so you can add an m.2 to pcie adapter, to add more GPU´s, and some M.2 are only connected via Sata. But my opinion - read about it - if you don´t know what this is - i would not recommend to start with mining.
It doesn´t matter what pcie slot it is - you only need x1 slots, all other are compatible.

If you want - learn the basics of a personal computer.

You must start learning more basics about normal computers. Build one and read. All what you ask you can find online. When you don´t know so much, it would be hard to troubleshooting in the future. I mean you don´t know what m.2 is, a long existing interface.
I don't mean that in a bad way, this is just to protect you from nasty surprises.

This is a beta version. You find it on Discord for example.
307  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Seeking for Chia mining answers on: April 12, 2022, 11:49:05 AM
The last time I went deep into chia mining its not as good as crypto mining, to run some HDD for 24/7 they will consume electricity too, it also depends on how many HDDs you are running, those little 20-40watts will turn big before you know it, moreover mining ETH is more profitable than mining chia.

Ok 1000 TB give you around 18 dollar a day - so you must let run 100x HDD´s with 10TB per HDD - we take a low power consumption 20w per HDD = so a Chia miner with 1000TB consumes 2kw/h or 48KW per day. So not really worth.
But you can dual / triple / quadril mine Chia with many Chia forks at the moment or with MASS on hpool. But i would say it is not worth to buy HDD´s for mining at the Moment.

In the passt i made over 4 ETH with my 20TB in less than a month - i miss the good old times  Cheesy

Try the original Software first. Looks like a problem with the ethernet. Maybe the controller board, but test with original firmware.
309  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best GPU maker on: April 12, 2022, 09:00:19 AM
Between MSI and Gigabyte which one is better when it comes to GPU? If you want to buy 3080 and 3090 RTX graphic cards which maker is the best or which one will you go for?

In the past i had many problems with the fans from Gigabyte gpus. They cool very well, but they brake after short time mostly. This is my experience with older Gigabyte gpus.
For me it is more important to have a big cooling system, with so many fans as possible for the cheapest price - no matter what manufacturer
310  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU 1 on Gigabyte Motherboard is always generating HW errors on: April 12, 2022, 08:32:46 AM
Wow, you probably hit on of the eletronic / tech issues where there's no explanation  Cheesy

You did a good job already trying most common problems, bios update, change risers, GPUs etc

You can try to change some settings on bios for sure
I have another motherboard, but I had some issues with 3 cards, the motherboard only recognized 2, no matter which positions, so I change settings on Bios, specifically on PCI-e section, and after some try and errors I found the issue.

You can try to change 1 parameter at time and see how it goes
Another thing to try, put a monitor or a adaptor on this GPU1
Try to clean this slot with isopropyl alcohol or a clean contact product

After that, I don't have more ideas, let's see if some person here have some idea

Or, you slot could be broken, some contact or pci lane is damaged

Thank you for your reply Smiley

I tried mostly everything in the bios, on pcie and other parameters... nothing changed.
I cleaned the slot, but the problem is still there.

I don't think it's the slot itself. Like I showed on this picture :

https://ibb.co/7S7qNX1

I removed the riser from slot PCIEX1_1. I moved this card with the riser to slot PCIEX1_5.
On PCIEX1_5 there was no HW errors.

The card that was on PCIEX1_2 was running fine before I moved the PCIEX1_1 to PCIEX1_5.
After moving the PCIEX1_1 card, the PCIEX1_2 card was generating a lot of HW errors.

On the mining software, the PCIEX1_2 card was displayed as GPU1.

Very strange thing..

This GPU has a failure, there is nothing you can do. I have the same problem with 1x rx570. After 2 years it started with HW failures.
311  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: My curious case on GPUs with no Vram temp on: April 11, 2022, 01:23:57 PM
I used my 3070ti to mine ETH for a month without knowing that my memory temp is on 100 degrees already until the hiveOS update introduced mem temp on their dashboard, how could I have known when the GPU temp was at 47°C mining ETH 60MH, I thought its working in its best shape yet, I wish every nvidia GPUs have mem temp readable.

Mem Temp reading is not needed for GDDR6 models, so this GPU´s don´t need a sensor for the VRAM.
312  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Artefacts on monitor on: April 11, 2022, 08:21:21 AM
My 3060ti Gigabyte GPU start displaying Artefacts this morning and I noticed the back plate is so hot, the fan is working I don't know what went wrong.

Check the temperature? Are they ok?
313  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Goodbye my 1200 watt PSU on: April 08, 2022, 11:25:07 AM
I lost a 1200watt PSU yesterday, I'm running 6 graphic cards on this rig using an inverter and solar panels, the whole rig consumption is 460watts using an inverter calculator and watt matter, now that the PSU is gone I want to ask if I can use a 700watt PSU I have laying around.

B250 MOBO
Intel core CPU
8 gig RAM
6 gtx 1660 (none TI or Super)
I have not seen 700 watt power supplies with 6x 8 pins either. Most likely you will have to buy a 900 watt or higher power supply. 850 watt PSUs may not have 6x 8 pin connectors or they will be very short distance on 1 wire, so you have to mount video cards close to each other.

I have one from EVGA. But it is an old one.
850w is available with 8x PCIe 8 Pin

750w with 6x 8 Pin

only a quick research - i am sure i can find many more  Cheesy

corsair rm750

I would not take this power supply for 6 video cards if using an open case. For a closed case, the proximity of video cards is not critical.
For example, I use a 1000 watt power supply, and there are more 8 pin connectors. And I take the cables from the old broken corsair power supplies.

I think you will understand the difference

Sure i mostly use also 1000w psu, but for new mining 6x rigs with Nvidia RTX A2000, a 750w psu is more than enough. I only want to say, that their are 750w psu with 6 or more 8pin connectors for gpu´s  Smiley

But why you wouldn´t use such psu in a open case, only because the connectors on the PSU side are close together? That is no problem for the PCIe connectors, only for the SATA connectors, but i avoid this? I have 1 running for 4 years without a problem, and some of my other 1000w PSU has also close connectors and never had an problem.
1x 8Pin PSU side = up to 600w on the GPU side 1x 6Pin PSU side = 450w on the GPU side possible. So on a 750w PSU i never use a line on full wattage.  Cheesy

Don´t overcook it, it is not so difficult as many think - if you avoid SATA - all is good.

HERE is one of the creditable forum member,  VoskCoin review about Jasminer x4
Thanks for the review
https://www.jinglemining.com/collections/frontpage/products/jasminer-x4-c-1u-etchash-server
Ram 5 Gb
5550 $ / 450MH
This ASIC is now paying off for more than a year, but if the Ethereum Classic hashrate is 50-60 terahesh, then the payback is 2 years.
I think it's a bad investment. I don't like 5gb memory either.

This miner is scam - it sends mysterious signals to china. No RAM for the DAG inside the miner and it uses to less energy. Or is really someone thinking it is possible to achieve over 500mh with 200w at this time? And also this mysterious start sync delay - because the chinese must fireup the rigs first  Wink
You are a wise one, there are videos about this jasminer on YouTube and one of the popular YouTuber already started using one since the beginning of this year but I'm still curious because the miner build is just like a server, I don't understand where the 500MH is coming from or what's producing it. Very suspicious.

He didn´t open the miner XD. As i said, no one open the miner and show us the RAM. I only see one review, in this review i can´t see any RAM on the board, only some ASIC chips. Vosk did not check the internet traffic, but ok i warned enough. A new company came out and deliver a new miner multiply times more efficent than every other existing miner, surely true - absolute no brainer or are other companies like Innosilicon and Bitmain are to stupid to build such Asic - sure  Roll Eyes

Or anyone saw a bigger number of this miner? I only see everytime 1 miner. On the side you only can do Bulk Order - after i email them - i can get any amount of this miner - immediatly - also a red flag. i only see red flags.

How can anyone blinded by some numbers? I'm slowly losing faith in humanity, I've lost faith in this forum for a long time. All blindly follow some youtubers, they getting money for the review dudes.

It is scam, don´t buy it. I have never seen an useful review from this ASIC. In my opinion it is some strange clound mining and the jas"miner" only show you an dashboard. Or is someone out there who saw any RAM on the jasminer board? Or why it needs so long to sync?

I'd start to worry if that gets to 70°C, that's the kind of hot numbers you should be seeing on AMD cards not Nvidia, if you don't like this 63 then change the thermal pad and reapply thermal paste.

Lol 70°C is not hot and you can see it on all GPU - AMD and Nvidia - don´t spread false information and when you have not enough knowledge - shut up. This is so stupid AMD vs. Nvidia - Nvidia vs. AMD vs. Intel vs. yourself vs. a frog.

My 6600xt run at 25% fan at 55°C dual mining - my RTX3070 need 60% fan for 65°C dual mining - some of my old nvidia 1050ti´s running fanless while mining, one of my RTX 2060 running at 75°C @ 80% fan and so on. I cannot see that one manufacturer is better than the other.
