461  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What do you have to say about this on: January 25, 2022, 02:22:18 PM
Do you think it makes sense to solo mine ETH with ASIC miner? I know the chances of making anything is very low but I have excess electricity available and I want to solo mine for years, I will just plug and play then abandon the miner until few years later, good or bad idea?

Why solo mining? Explain please what to you think and why you ask us such question?
No one knows what is the best for you. Do some calculations. About how many Asics we are talking? Do you think you are a lucky guy? Do you want to do this because of the last news about some solo miners?
You must be strong, because it is hard to mine for days, weeks maybe months without any reward.

For most people it ends up with the same result for solo and pool mining in the long term in my opinion.

This is how it would look like if you use ice & ethermine:
./TT-Miner -log -logpool -luck -poolinfo -coin EPIC -P <Wallet>.<Worker>:<Password>@epic.eu-north.hashrate.to:4005 -coinalt ETH -Palt ssl://<Wallet>.<Worker>:<Password>@eu1.ethermine.org:5555

is it possible to give an example flight sheet for HiveOS?

Maybe it is better to understand how you set the arguments in HiveOS than copy pasting this stuff. You asked the same question in so many threads  Roll Eyes

Ttminer restart itself when it detects any failure mining EPIC.
Is it possible to stop the miner restart itself ? So i can see the problem and fix it.

Hi,

a new beta release will be available later today.

Nice hear  Cheesy
464  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Please post batch file description for Ethereum Classic mining - TeamRedMiner on: January 24, 2022, 12:29:31 PM
Hi,

I am having a problem with my mining rig (12 x RX570 4GB). I wanted to resume mining after a long break and wanted to jump into ETC mining - Ethereum Classic.

Could anyone post a full description of the batch file, as I am not sure, if I did it correctly?

Thanks in advance!

Can you read? Maybe trying to read the readme from Teamredminer? And why should someone post his batch file? Post your bat file and we can say if it is right or wrong. And by the way post such questions in the teamredminer thread or ask on Discord.

465  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Linux (paying), Windows (unreg) or Linux with free distribution for mining ? on: January 24, 2022, 09:10:50 AM
You're not wrong, but I agree with JayDDee, you're not paying the OS, you're paying for the service they provided to you

For me and probably most users here, we have few rigs, I use Hive OS for free, only in 1 rig, and I have windows in another rig, because I use as my PC.

But can you imagine someone having more than 10 rigs for example, using windows?
It's a mess, you set windows to turn off updates and tweak everything to mine, and then windows make some updates, restart, have problems with drivers etc

That person can use Linux, but it's a long way to do everything, set a restart for GPUs in case they failed, or some problem with electricity, download drivers etc

With specific mining OS, everything is easy, in a few minutes you can set your cards, overclock, put the rig to restart after a crash, and you can monitoring everything in one place, it's the cost to this service you're paying.

I use Awesomeminer to manage my rigs, in my opinion the only good solution, because it is the only client server application for mining. You can use it with Linux or Windows (main application only for windows, but clients for both OS). I hate that these days all stuff run in browser, come on guys, it is browser and not a multifunctional tool to do everything.
I have build my own windows version 3 years ago, with this windows i need around 10 minutes to install windows with all driver that i need and so on, need only to type in the Rig name in the whole installation, nothing more. Updates deactivated for sure.
466  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Want to buy few used GPU on: January 17, 2022, 02:42:34 PM
As mentioned before. Vegas needs playing with timings that takes alot of trial and error and ALOT of time (specially the gigabyte gaming oc, wich is terrible to work with). And i guess 1080TI are pretty straight forward.

1080TI use to much power for this small hashrate and the hashrate decrease every new DAG Epoch. Use 2060 Super instead, they only use 115w and can do around 45mh. Used cards are available for less money than 1080Ti´s

The Nvidia cards all day, they work better with no driver issues and they have low temp compare to AMD, if I have to buy AMD card today it will be the newer versions not the old architecture, I'm talking about the likes of rx6600 and others but since this is between 1080ti and Vega I will surely go for 1080ti

The GPU temp depends on every GPU and Subvendor. My AMD cards are always under 60°C.

Going to choose from few old GPUs from a friend of a friend that needed money and want to sell them, what will be the better decision between 1080ti and Vega 64? Which one is more durable for mining and give less stress or troubles?

Vega Cards, use less power, hashrate will not decrease very DAG epoch and they have more hashrate than a 1080ti.

Going to choose from few old GPUs from a friend of a friend that needed money and want to sell them, what will be the better decision between 1080ti and Vega 64? Which one is more durable for mining and give less stress or troubles?

I would go with the 1080ti. Post ETH i think the 1080ti will be the more profitable card. Using todays numbers and in a world without ETH the Vega will make $1.25 a day but the 1080ti will make $1.45. Then you add in these are used cards and buying used Vegas is risky, you never know what kinda shape that HBM2 memory is going to be in. The 1080ti however are rock solid and durable cards you can mistreat them and they will keep on ticking.

Much longer timespan? I hate this theoretical stupid shit. Why has nvidia cards longer timespan? I lose 1 nvidia and 1 amd card in 5 years of mining full time with 200 cards. This bashing against GPU manufacturer is senseless. Every one has good an bad cards. Or did you do a research for years with 1000 of cards?
467  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CPU coin recommendation on: January 17, 2022, 01:54:49 PM
Calm down everyone, he only has 12 6248R CPUs  Lips sealed
The "288 processors" that he mentioned may be the total number of "Cores", since: 12CPUs x 24Cores each = 288 Cores

Yes and he has not such CPU´s, i think he has access to this CPU and this are not his own. I think he will do some illegal mining at work or what private person has 12x a 3000€ CPU at home?
468  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Worry about what temp is safe? on: January 17, 2022, 10:01:31 AM
I think these days that chart is mostly irrelevant. It is listing Core temps and most GPU algorithms these days are memory hard and memory temps really depends on memory type. the best source for safe temps is to read the datasheet for whatever memory manufacture / type your GPU is utilizing. But 90% of the time when a GPU fails its normally a capacitor or mosfet and is an easy fix. When im looking to buy broken GPUs the listings are almost always the lower end brands like Zotac because they use cheap capacitors and mosfets to hit there price target. The cheaper parts just don't hold up against the 24/7 usage.

Not really, I think there are nearly the same number of core and mem intensive algos.

I had 2 GPU´s running over months with 85°C, but they still run fine Cheesy but most of my gpu´s running between 40°C and 60°C
469  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I got the best Xmas gift ever buh on: January 14, 2022, 10:11:49 AM
I've been talking and yearning about mining crypto for months in my family home and today I got 6 pieces of RTX3060s as Xmas gift from my aunt, the problem now is how to take advantage of this cards to the fullest, we have stable electricity in my country, there are even days without grid at all what can I possibly do in this situation?
so your aunt got you 6000 dollars worth of electronics as a christmas gift? Is your aunt a saudi prince by any chance?
Its not my fault that you have a poor aunt 😅

I'd rather have a poor aunt and a stable grid, than to be so arrogant.  Cool
470  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Good investment or a trap? on: January 13, 2022, 10:04:53 AM
How cheap are these cards? If they are used for mining for long already? I don't like used GPUs mist especially AMD cards cos they die easily, I bought 3 Radeon GPU as used from someone and later I detected that they've worked and solder some things on the GPU before, this was after the GPUs stopped working, the choice is yours

And i like used AMD cards. I have 150 AMD cards, many of them are used and they run for 4 - 5 years now -> 1 died in this time.

Neither, since lhr gpus are here to stay for the meantime, old gpus were given a chance to stay hashing for sometime yet, trolls complain about lhr gpus but in reality, lhr gpus were the ones that held the difficult of coins to rise to atrocious levels. I guess people with old gpus must be laughing right now and that guy that wants to sell his old gpu will still get some value out of it. Anyway, you do you, I would not buy it but like I said before is neither a trap or a good buy.

Yes true -> i can sell my RX570 8GB for more than i paid 3 years ago  Cheesy
471  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoin Mining: you WON’T pay for that card (with assumptions) on: January 13, 2022, 09:40:32 AM
Altcoin Mining: you WON’T pay for that card (with assumptions)

So, I’m going to take the position that you will NOT make your money back with altcoin mining.
Instead you will have to ‘gamble” to make money.

Change my mind.

Here are my assumptions:
1)   The price of the coin stays fixed (yah, yah, who knows what it will do?)
2)   Mining Ethereum
3)   Electricity is .20 per kilowatt USD
4)   DIFFICULTY continues to rise as per this website (3.8% per month, 29% in the last 90 days) https://www.coinwarz.com/mining/ethereum/difficulty-chart
5)   I’m buying an A4000 at 1499
6)   I’m not counting the value of the card itself (I don’t know what it will be worth in the future)
7)   Total rig cost for 5 cards is about $7500
8 )   Assuming we sell Eth for USD each month

    a4000
Card Cost   1499
Qty   5
Sub total   7495
Tax   449.7
    7944.7
Hash Rate   60
Hash Total   300
Day income per hash   0.055
Daily Income   16.5
Watts Per card   123
Rig Watts   100
Watts/hour   715
Watts/day   17160
Electric cost/killowatt   0.2
Cost/day   3.432
Net/day   13.068
ROI Days   607.9507

It will take 608 days to ROI on the A400 (not counting difficulty).
If I can get the card for $450 dollars instead of 1499, ROI is 182 days or 6 months.

BUT………..

Difficulty is eating away at your income every single month.

Right now it is reducing your net by 3.8 percent per month.

Buying 5 cards, electric to run the rig, we clear  $13 dollars a day in the first month.

But difficult increases each month.
By month 42 we actually start losing money on the rig (difficulty increases).
The closest we come to ROI is at 42 months, and we still owe $1617 dollars

Difficulty is killing your mining investment.

I maintain you would have been better off invest in a fund Like VTI.

Over the last 5 years a $7500 dollar investment would have grown to $17,000.

But….

Here is where we all are gambling.

If you took that $7500 and invested in ETH 5 years ago (forget mining), you would now have $1.6 million dollars.
It’s not the daily income from mining that makes the money, we are all hoping on the coin going up in price by 100 times.
So,  mining isn’t the answer, investing and holding is a better choice…..

Yes this is what i say very often here, but every day people say they get their money back in 3 month.

Return of investment from mining rigs depends on how much you build your rigs, why A4000 those cards are high costly go for something cheaper, as for electricity bill it depends on your country charges, mine is 6cent power but still I use power of the sun (solar panels) for mining, with the right calculation you will get your ROI faster

Google ROI -> ROI is an number from 0% to 100% and not how much days you need to get your money back. Call it payback time or so.

ROI is used wrong every day here.

"To calculate ROI, the benefit (or return) of an investment is divided by the cost of the investment. The result is expressed as a percentage or a ratio."

Some times too much of 'what if' will leave you with nothing, the biggest move I've ever made is building my mining rigs in January 2021 and I never regretted it cos my ROI is been made already, everything else is free money now, consider the following

1. How cheap is your electricity?
2. What type of GPU you buying? The newer the more costly they are
3. Are you planning to keep mining even in bear market when mining profit is down?

See the truth is you will make more money if you keep mining when profit is down why?

1. Difficulty would have reduced cos many miners will be shut down due to electricity bill to keep running the rig that's why I said how cheap is your electricity

2. You will gain more coins in quantities than before just don't be deceived by the present value, you lose only when you sell

Yeah we will see if you keep your rigs running when i does 1.5$ a day like in the last bear market. Miners must pay their bills, and they not all mining to hodl the coins. And by the way this is also a gamble.
472  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Raven halving is coming in a few days, what about mining profitability? on: January 11, 2022, 01:01:32 PM
For most graphic cards it doesn't matter, most cards are profitable on ETH mining and few like Rx Vega 56 and 64 are profitable for ergo mining, the 3070ti are good for ravencoin and TON coin so there you have it, all this depends on the cards you own

Yes it doesn´t matter to any GPU, but it does matter to the miner?  Roll Eyes and not all guys follow the mainstream.

The profibility change every 1 and RVN is the most profitable coin on some GPU´s.

The question is interesting for me because l have a few older cards like 1050Ti and they can only mine Raven
Today I can mine with them more or less profitable but I'm wondering what will happen after the halving

You can mine also ERG, Flux, ETC with your 1050ti for example.
473  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining with oculus quest ? on: January 11, 2022, 12:23:24 PM
Seems like a bad idea, nothing designed for portability (ie has a battery) is suitable for mining.
Your also paying for stuff that has nothing to do with mining, like the goggles and remotes, not
to mention the battery and charging system.

POW mining needs lots of power so "optimized for low power" means no good for mining.

Ok Smiley

Qualcomm Adreno 650 GPU 'most efficient graphics core in the world'
Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 865 has 'most efficient graphics core in the world' with Adreno 650.

https://www.tweaktown.com/news/69097/qualcomm-adreno-650-gpu-most-efficient-graphics-core-world/index.html

But it would not be for buying it only for the purpose of mining but for those who already have one.

A old nvidia low end GPU from 2016 (1050ti) has more or less around 300% of the power of the adreno 650 and you make nearly nothing with this old GPU.

You speak about a GPU for mobilephones, do you really think this is good "GPU" for mining  Cheesy
474  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU scarcity finally going away? on: January 11, 2022, 11:07:48 AM
Philipma1957 you are the reason why I still mine till date, others are trying to hard to discourage new miners, putting fear of bear market on us like we will end up selling our miners since profitability will reduce alot but who cares? If I can make 2 ETH in bull market and 4ETH in bear market doesn't that makes bear market superior? ETH - USDT is what looks wrong in bear market but for how long? After bear there is bull.

And who paying your bills in bearmarket? Miner must use there reward to pay the bills and in bearmarket maybe you get more ETH, but you must also use more of your mined ETH to pay the bills in bear market Wink or is your electricity "free"?

I don´t understand what philipma is calculating all day long. In his mind all cards with 2x msrp will pay back in less than a year and thats impossible.
475  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Team Black Miner (Ethereum Ethereum classic Vertcoin Zilliqa 0.5% fee)LHR unlock on: January 10, 2022, 12:58:29 PM
I am now in 2miners and v1.37 and this is how it looks like:
00:01:03 [2022-01-10 12:20:25.282] GPU0    590S     351.37 kH/W   29.52 MH/s    28.97 MH/s    10/0/7       100.00%
00:01:03 [2022-01-10 12:20:25.282] GPU1    6800     0.00 H/W      63.89 MH/s    63.29 MH/s    27/0/12      100.00%

The third column is estimated stale shares.
2miners pay for level 1 stales so it shouldn't be a problem. you have 100% accepted shares in the window. You can check in the pool statistics for stale shares.

This is from 2miners website, it is on the "shares" tab:

Recorded shares in the recent 6 hours are displayed in the table above. If you have a significant amount of invalid shares, please check the GPU overclocking settings of your mining rig. If there are many stale shares (more than 5% of all shares), there is an issue with your internet connection. We recommend you to ping the pool with a special stratum-ping tool. When rewards are distributed according to the PPLNS scheme invalid and stale shares are not credited.

Has nothing to do here, because teamblackminer is a stale share miner BY DESIGN  Roll Eyes

Yeah stale share miner for AMD, on my Nvidia Testrigs i got 0 stale shares over 3 weeks of mining. Strange miner
476  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: Mineable NFT.............Mineable Punks ! Mine punks with your gpu !.......... on: January 10, 2022, 11:54:28 AM
What do you  mean profitable ? You are not mining coins. Mining is free but you pay the gas fees to mint the punk when you find it. At current eth price and gas fees, with 80 gwei you pay ~110 dollars . Then you can list it on the marketplace and if anyone is interested will buy it. You must learn the philosophy of the NFTS first and then you gonna understand why this project is unique . Join discord for more info.

So i must mine with my gpu's and must pay electricity -> if i find one -> i must pay gas fees -> so why should i mine instead of buying?
I mining for something with no real market -> if no one wants my nft i loose money -> and earn money is why we are mining.

Unique maybe, but as was said - it is gamble and for sure it is not free like Bitcoin_Arena said.

NFT´s are the new ICO´s and i will skip this trash.

Had this issue last night on HiveOS. Not sure if it will transfer over to windows.
Try taking your OC settings off before you start up. Let it get going and then slowly crank your settings back up to where you want them.

The GPU is not detected by his HiveOS, so how do he change the OC settings? And what is different with other OC settings if his GPU is not detected?  Huh
478  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Dead GPU? on: January 10, 2022, 10:21:26 AM
I've spent hours with my rig today troubleshooting the heck out of it, I have 6 Nvidia GPUs on board mining for the past weeks nonstop now and today my 3070ti stopped working, not detected my hiveOS, I've changed riser no luck what else to look into? Dead GPU?

Test this GPU in a single PC?

This: https://github.com/tontechio/pow-miner-gpu/releases/tag/20211230.1
 Huh Huh Huh

lol miner, 4.93 GH/s on my RX 6900 XTs and 4.2 GH/s on my 3080 TIs.  Anyone now why the 6000 series AMD preform so well?

The question is why not? Maybe the GPU architecture is better for this algo? Some cards work better on this algo, and other cards work better on other algos, this is normal. I don´t understand this question  Huh

If you are using USB stick for HiveOS you must deactivate the logs with logs-off.
