741  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Comparing HDD mining to GPU mining - Manufacturing Demolition is about Same-Same on: June 11, 2021, 12:10:49 PM
WOW, so much mis-information on here.

First, if you want to "Compare HDD mining to GPU mining"

Then fine, but limit it to these coins -

bitcoinhd
burstcoin
litecoinhd
diskcoin
hddcash
xrphd
mass MassMASS

The only one i have found to be sucessful for the "home miner" was BURST, and that was 3 years ago now. Today it too is fairly pointless.

Never found anywhere to sell Diskcoin
Areweave is something else entirely
CHIA...not a traditional POC coin.

The thing is, your trying to compare a type of POW with another type of POW, yet i bet none of you have mined any POC coin for over a year, Most of them bar BURST are even fully estabished yet, and certainly dont have the mining base ETH has.
Back in the day BURST was raining coins. I think most of us has somewhere between 100K and 1 mil BURST, heck we used to give them away, cos they wernt worth anything....
HOWEVER, in terms of a POC coin, it was awesome. You could plot a 8TB extermal SMR HDD with a Ryzen 1700 in a little over a day, and a couple of those drives SOLO mining got you a load of coin.
The pools came very quicky, and their were tons of them. SO anyone could have a go....if you look at the list of POC coins now, unless you have at least 100TB of free storage, pointless....

As for CHIA, it DOES kill SSDs and NVME, in the plotting stage, but NOT in the farming stage, i am still using my 5 years old Seagate External 8TB HDDS (SMR) and 4 or 5 are perfect (the 5th one i dropped down 2 flights of stairs). These drives have been mining BURST for 3 n half years continuously and now are holding my CHIA plots, no issue....
BUT CHIA differs very differently from BURST (i say BURST cos all the other POC coins use BURST plots) in the way the plotting is done. Instead of filling 8TB a day, i can do on a good day 0.8 to 1 TB a day, so complete waste of time. As for the killing DRIVES, for some reason they have chosen a plotting method that entirely favours enterprise level equipment. It doe a huge amount of writes the plotting drives, and therefore eats thru the TBW of the drive incredibly quickly. Don't be fooled most NVME / SSD when run constantly at high temp / high write speeds are luck to last 30-50% of their TBW, thats it the controller doesn't fail first.
The other factor is that consume ssds/nvme have cache, and are generally qlc or tlc. This means that they are great fr copying smallish (>1GB files) every quickly, but take my corsair 510 1TB, it starts writing @ well over 2500 Mbs, but after a short file drops to around 500mps, or lower for over 85% of the plotting.....A Enterprise SSD will acheive the same speed for 100% of plotting time, an Enterprise NVME should do full speed again for 100% of time.

I personally would love to see a POC coin, much more like the original BURST, it was easy to plot, and easy to mine. You genuinely could do it on an old desktop, or modern-ish laptop, add an external HDD when u could afford t, and it really took me back to mining BTC in the day (with my cpu). If POC coins  can come away from Hpool and its crazy mortgaging, or CHIA enterprise only coin, then i think i would more than compete with GPU mining.

Thank you, a dude who understand Chia mining and plotting and all other stuff  Grin

Burst/BHD dual mining is something that give a little profit -> burst rise in price the last months and implemented staking/mortgage. BHD is dead but can be trade at the moment. lhd, xhd, hdd, disc, boom all died and was scam to make some profits for the developer. Mass also named scam in the past, but it has trading volumen, developers are active -> we will see what happened.

Arweave is no PoC coin, and i don´t know why so many people take it to the list of poc coins.

Yeah corsair 510 is not so good for plotting.

But overall thanks dude -> you confirm me in my way of thinking and working.

However he can kill - he kills. To me, Chia killed 2 HDD WD Gold Enterprise. And I only tried one for plotting and the other for storing plots. You may also have damaged discs without knowing it. Check them out with the Crystal Disk Mark

i checked my discs every week lol  Roll Eyes

You know how chia mining works? So if you know that, than you understand that chia doesn´t kill any HDD while mining. When your HDD died, than it have some other problems, nothing to do with mining chia  Roll Eyes
And why you are using HDD for plotting?

I can´t understand why dudes spread bad vibes and have a knowledge like a rock. Sorry but you tried chia 1 time and then you have the knowledge to say -> yes Chia kills HDD´s? Huh
You have nothing to apologize to me. The discs are inserted as correct. If they were placed faulty CrystalDiskInfo would report it to me immediately because I put it to constantly monitor the system. Also, the disks worked very little for me and only data was stored on them. I said that I only tried parcelling on the HDD and not that I was constantly parceling on it. I wanted to see what it looked like so I could see if it was worth a more serious investment. For you, opinion is the opposite of your spreading negative vibrations? You don’t understand why people do that? You do not understand because you think that only you know everything and everyone who thinks the opposite is not true. You are God, you know everything, sir, no one should say anything contrary to your infallible opinion. If I said they kill - then they kill and I will post pictures today as proof that they are killing. Maybe Chia didn't damage your HDD, but my did. And it’s not just me who’s noticed it but a number of other people as well. After only 4 damn plots I have damaged 2 extremely durable WD hard drives. The WD Enterprise HDD series is no joke so it is so easy to damage both.
If you are as positive as you present yourself, then let me know how to get the hard drives in order after parcelling and storing them. Maybe someone else knows how to do it. I formatted the HDD and tried regenerating with the HDD Regenerator, but Crystal Disk Info again reports the hard drives as damaged and occasionally freezes my computer. I had to take them both out. Now I can only throw them away.

I never said you have insert it wrong XD but when we discuss about how to insert a disc in the right way -> than we on the wrong way  Cheesy
You have no proof. A disc can die, but you don´t know why. ok 10000 people mining chia without kill there hdd´s, but you say it kill and so it must be true? You don´t know how chia mining works -> if you know that -> you will see it can´t kill a hdd -> ok it can kill - like every other normal hdd reading/write cycle.
I have many discs that died while they done nothing!!!!! you heard about bad luck? you heard about faulty discs? how old are your hdd´s? You have 3 to 5 years guarantee -> so where is the problem? Are they older? Oh ok then it can die because of its age.

I don´t know everything, but i know some things and learn every day new stuff. But ok it is your opinion, go your way and i go my way -> with my 4 year old HDD´s mining 365 days a year without any fault

743  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: HDD Mining - How to become a Crypto Billionaire in 2021 on: June 11, 2021, 08:55:43 AM
They say ... Chia is green, Chia is 'woke', Chia is for 'gay people, not for nerds', Chia is the future of Crypto....

Surely rose glasses have infected their brain.

The Chinese own and run Chia since day one last year [2020] when they funded the project, or I should say 'rescued' chia [ a floundering going no where project lost since 2017 ], the deal is this.

The Chinese billionaires ( same guy who funded the ukraine bitcoin-gold, aka bch ) wanted

1.) IOU's ran by chinese exchanges they sent the price to $1600 usd, pre main-net, the west had nothing to do with chia price, pre mainnet launch 5may2021
2.) The xch 21M pre-mine is the property of the 'chinese investor'
3.) The dev-team in SV aka bram&hoffman ( aka mr bit-torrent aka porn-king ) get the IPO, said to be wroth in access of $10B USD; Next RedHat for Crypto-Support Fortune500
4.) The chinese people get to pre-mine on hpool, the west told to 'wait', the pools were to never come
5.) The chinese people get to play 'lottery' with the IOU system

7.) The HDD companys all Asian based like WD, Samsung, ... all were working since last year [2020] on this deal, that like GPU's the HDD's to go 10x in price, in the west we would call this 'collusion', in asia its business as normal

8.) The western gimps, hairlips, and believers get zip, zilch nada chia. They aren't even bag-holders, they're empty bag holders, and then they're told to re-plot. The world has never seen a bigger pool of lemmings.

That's the deal, now you adjust your polly-anna wishes to reality.

XD oh dude oh dude -> do you need a towel for your tears?

hello,

no one yet reported this?

i´m using Z11 with Firmware from http://to.tools/Z11-firmware-sd-image - this is originaly by chipless-mod.

now i got the issue that awesome miner shows speed in MH not kH
is there anything you could do about this?

second problem is, when send pool config via awesome miner it is configured with "_ant_pool1url=" ahead my pool settings

seems there is something strange with the FW - but maybe you have a fast fix

Make an api report and send patrike a private message. I think he can fix this.
Go to Tools -> click api report -> save this report and send it patrike.

Patrike are there any plans for more ASIC Firmwares? Like Z11? Or only focusing on BTC miner?

Is it worth getting some Antminer L3+ to mine LTC + Dogecoins?

I am thinking to mine in poolin pool. It currently yields $7usd per day?

800W machine?

It looks good and even the minerstat website says it makes 9.xx USD daily and after removing the power cost it nets you some 7.XX USD daily.I checked ebay and the price of these machines have again got up in price.
It is funny as once before a few years in my country you could have bought these from mad people that lost money and thought these devices are not for anything any more, for just 50 Euros.I did the same mistake to think the same as those persons back then. From this I conclude sometimes it is better to spend 50-100 Euros to buy such kind of devices when they are completely in a loss.

i bought 2x for 100€ last year  Cheesy

749  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Comparing HDD mining to GPU mining - Manufacturing Demolition is about Same-Same on: June 10, 2021, 07:50:28 AM
A video card can mine hundreds or thousands of coins, and several coins can be mined on hard drives.
The hashrate of the CHIA grows by 10-20% per week and the profit of miners falls by the same amount.
Although, on the other hand, Ethereum will also stop being mined soon, so I don't know where it will be good after six months

Wow the growth has slowed down a lot then, I stopped checking some week ago. Right now its 26% since last week. The norm was 70+ % per week. It was like 200% or even more a few weeks in a row, once I saw the network space increase by one whole EiB on ONE single day. Could not help but check in every day for a while and be amazed lol. Never seen anything like it. Hope it stabilizes, but to jump in it for profit right now seems even riskier than buying gpus. Edit: ROI not gonna happen lol.

https://chiacalculator.com/ really gives suuch a bad prognosis if you put realistic numbers there and you are one of those I want to get rich quick guys.

Anyways I am still curious about chia because it is new and more fun compared to gpu mining, if you like building computers that is. I have a build ready to switch on when pools arrive... errm if they arrive, as you say, rules change and change. Perhaps pools arrive just in time for christmas and value has tanked because there has been such a shitshow with scammy pools stealing coins and people giving up because they can't get back investment if they don't join pools. I did not build my rig even expecting ROI, I had old computers laying around that could do plotting with just a bit more ram and a few more harddrives. So for me it is like switching my slower gpus to some shitcoin and hoping it will take off, if it won't, well then, at least I had some entertainment for a while.

For the past two months chia space growth was 8% day, that's doubling every nine days, now its close to zero and hovering at 20EB (19.8EB)

HPOOL is real, the  chinese billionaire who owns HPOOL company, also owns the chia-net Inc, team in SV, all this is a scam, just like bitcoin-gold, some 5+ years ago, which was chinese owned, and ran out of 'ukraine' this time its ran out of SV, kept up for appearances. To the sophisticated chinese, its what we would call money-laundering. The chinese IOU process since begin of year took XCH to $1600, on a shit-coin that didn't even exist, at main-net 5may2021 the shit-ware wasn't even ready, it still doens't work.

There are a dozen GOOD PoC coins, and chia isn't one of them, ar-weave looks good, but all have this same problem, shitty development, stalled projects and general helplessness

Dozen of GOOD PoC Coins? Allright give me a list with REAL PoC coins that are still alive!!!!! XD I am waiting for your answer. By the way, Arweave is no PoC coin  Roll Eyes
750  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Proof of Capacity shit-coins good idea, but to date all implementation is fail on: June 10, 2021, 07:45:20 AM
I like Proof-of-Capacity, but it has big problems, some might know, but on HPOOL some 20% of all submitted plots are fake, it turns out that in all the rush to main-net, nobody gave it a thought that people might generate 'fake plots' to the pools, which is another reason probably that chia-dev has drag their arse on the subject of pools, they probably knew this would be the outcome, remember the only goal of chia-dev (SV) is the IPO, as all other wealth stays in CHINA, with the chinese billionaires investors who funded chia post 2020.

STOP talking about POOLS there is only one pool HPOOL, that got the lead, because its all a scam, the chia-dev in USA(SV) say solo-mine, in ASIA everybody uses HPOOL and has earned a ton of xch, the west has a big zero, you think this wasn't all planned.

The HPOOL sw is solid like  a rock, never seen a bug, the chia-net dev sw is shit, u think this wasn't all planned?

Bait&Switch folks.

All the paid influencers on YT, are paid by Western-Digital drives manufacturing and SAMSUNG, but guess what, all the drives on earth are made in ASIA.

The west has gotten the shaft, and the morons eat the feces of the YT influencers.

...

I  bought lots of 16TB drives for $200 each months ago, today they're over $500, and 18tb drives are going for over $1k USD, so I'm not biting this bullshit, I'm done, in time I will re-deploy my plots to a better PoC coin, as I think chia is shit, and will implode.

[ Right now today, mining HDD 20TB generates $4.64 / day, so you do the the math, today 20TB is two 10tb drives at $500 USD, so its comparable to gtx-1070 mining. Ref Chia on Hpool]

bitcoinhd BitcoinHDBHD
burstcoin BurstCoinBURST
litecoinhd LitecoinHDLHD
diskcoin DiskcoinDISC
hddcash HDD.CashHDD
xrphd XRPHDXHD
mass MassMASS
chia ChiaXCH
arweave Arweave

Take you pic from the list above ( mining pool hdd ), chia has the highest price, but most of the stuff is abandoned projects, e.g. the code has been left to die on github. IMHO CHIA will fork, that will be the next great PoC coin, and it will be ran out of ASIA, and not the west, the west will stay for mr-bittorrent porn king; Asia will run with classic-chia, and SV will push chia-porn-plots

lol another stupid post from you. Don´t cry like a baby.

Any proof for this?

All the paid influencers on YT, are paid by Western-Digital drives manufacturing and SAMSUNG, but guess what, all the drives on earth are made in ASIA.

No? So stop talking shit!!!!!

Running v8.5.1 and was working yesterday, but as of this morning Microsoft has removed the Remote Agent app from the auto startup tab, so the Remote Agent app is no longer running.

Trying to manually start Remote Service fails with "Windows service start failure....not initialized.." Also The Remote Agent Installer is tagged with Virus Detected. Completely borked Awesome Miner

here is your answer

I can no longer install or run Awesomeminer - it keeps popping up trojan alerts - I know you stated that you reported it to Microsoft as a false positive.
Thanks for the report.

Microsoft corrected one trojan alert in Windows Defender yesterday (June 6th). Unfortunately this turns out to be yet another incorrect detection so I've filed a new report to Microsoft about this case as well. I will keep you updated.

Update June 8th:
Microsoft has removed the incorrect detection.

To force an update of Windows Defender defitintions, please run the following via cmd.exe started with Administrator permissions.

Code:
cd %ProgramFiles%\Windows Defender
MpCmdRun.exe -removedefinitions -dynamicsignatures
MpCmdRun.exe -SignatureUpdate

I am new to mining so wanted to do RND on how to mine and what to mine, before investing more money...
Basically I bought GT 710 DDR5 2GB graphic card and dont know which coin is minable with it or which software to use for mining those coins...

any information is much appreciated, thanks

With this card you can mine nothing realliy, you can´t test anything with it. Maybe with some old ccminer versions or so. But it is better to start testing and learning with a newer gpu. 2GB is no problem, many stuff out there that can mined with 2GB vram -> verthash -> zilliqa -> equihash 144.5 and so on.

Hi sxemini

Customize Coinbase Exchange Balance. What keys are uncooked on in the Coinbase account, and where to register them in Awesome Miner?

Hi,

go to coinbase -> options -> API -> click create new API -> in the next window click all wallets and mark "wallet:accounts:read" (so this api is only for reading informations, important if someone steal your api, he can only read your balance) -> click create -> a new window open with your API and your secret (write down the secret, it will only show this time only!!!!) -> this is needed for AM.

in AM -> configurate balance -> exchange balance -> choose coinbase -> first line is only for the name -> 3 and 4 line for api and secret.

I hope this will help you. Not hesitate to ask again dude. Have a nice day.

many thanks !!! everything worked out !!!!

Hello everyone.  Recently I thought about the possibility of mining on a personal pc.  What cryptocurrencies does it make sense / profitable to mine on a mid-range pc?  Will it kill the computer?
For mining, you need a 2-core processor and 3 gigabytes of memory (but 4 is better). This configuration is enough to make an Ethereum mining farm.
I assembled a farm on an old motherboard on an Am2 socket with DDR 2 memory because I got it for free. BUT the farm did not work for long, and the components had to be replaced.

For ETH you don't need 2 core, I used single core for years. Works great, only issue is that it takes forever to load, especially on Windows 10. And the setup to install OS takes a very long time. However single core works fine when mining.

For RAM you will need at least >5GB or more due to the large DAG. With windows it won't work if there is less system ram than DAG filesize. With Ubunutu you can get away with using less RAM. I used 2GB before when the DAG was almsot 4GB and didn't get any issues.

Most important is the GPU. Which you can't really buy right now unless you overpay.

Absolutely wrong. I have many windows10 rigs with 2 or 4 gb and 6 to 13 gpu´s and i can mine without any problem. System Ram has nothing to do with the DAG!
