301  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If you were Satoshi Nakamoto, what would you do? on: February 10, 2024, 08:33:32 PM
If I was Satoshi I’d do nothing. I wouldn’t reveal who I was & I wouldn’t do anything to prove it. Satoshi created Bitcoin anonymously, he didn’t want publicity or fame for doing it. I’m sure he was solo mining & has many Bitcoin in ‘not known’ Satoshi addresses. He could spend them without raising suspicions, it’d just look like a real OG selling. Satoshi is either dead or going to live anonymously, that’s how he wanted it to be.
302  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Bitcoin is the only crypto you should BUY on: February 10, 2024, 09:31:48 AM
There are a lot of really bad, potentially & often subsequently proven to be, shitcoins. I am literally over 95% Bitcoin (not including my home & other real estate). I have a relatively small Ethereum allocation & even smaller stash of shitcoins, just for shits & gigs. I do mostly agree that Bitcoin is the only coin worth having & I’d go furtyer than that. Bitcoin is preferable to mostly all stocks & traditional finance products.
303  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: whats the new narrative? on: February 09, 2024, 02:23:00 PM
what's the latest narrative circulating in the crypto space these days?

I don’t think there is a new narrative. Buy Bitcoin, Ethereum & HODL for a number of years. Buy low, sell high & see if you can uncover low cap gems. As usual we go from bull to bear cycle & back. Learn about 4 year cycles because they’re still relevant to this day. Don’t panic sell when we’re dipping, don’t listen to bull shit crypto social media channels & influencers.
304  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do You trust Tether (USDT) Stablecoin? on: February 09, 2024, 02:14:34 PM
It has a long history of transparency and trustworthiness. If you’re asking me, would I leave my net worth in it for a significant amount of time then the answer is no. But would I sit between crypto & fiat trades, waiting for an opportunity to buy back cheaper then yes. I think it’s fine as a type of middleman, kept on an exchange short term. Like anything though, do your research and not your keys, not your coins.
305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Morpheus Network (MNW) - good investment? on: February 09, 2024, 12:30:11 PM
Morpheus Network (MNW Coin) is a shitcoin that makes increase during last Bull Run, base on the past record and the next bull run is around the corner, in which can make a equivalent the same or more than before price increase move. In other words make your research properly before investing.

Pretty much this above, but the fact that the max supply is under 50,000,000 makes it potentially worth throwing a few hundred bucks in. If you’re an altcoin investor then it’s always a good idea to search out the low caps. The fact that this is so cheap still keans it is worth a gamble, as the OP says.
306  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Algorand dead or can it recover? on: February 09, 2024, 11:38:03 AM
The SEC says a lot of things are securities. It doesn’t mean that you can’t make handsome profit though. I don’t think Algorand is going to change the world & become like Bitcoin for example but you could absolutely still do well in it. It’s a pure proof of stake smart contract blockchain & we have seen growth in its ecosystem. While it has some unique features like accessible staking and low transaction fees it faces challenges such as centralisation & tokenomics. It's too early to definitively say if it has a big future but patient investors can find opportunities in its long term growth. Some people say it’s promising due to its technology, I would consider it a good buy but maybe not a super long term HODL.
307  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: bullish 2024 ! on: February 09, 2024, 11:27:25 AM
Most altcoins still follow the Bitcoin cycle so yes, 2024 is going to be a bullish year. You should block out all bearish sentiment & concentrate on buying cheap coins whilst you can because it’s likely that overall, we are only going to go up over the next 18-24 months.
308  Other / Serious discussion / Re: What has football taught you ? on: February 07, 2024, 10:32:30 AM
Football will tell me this Sunday 11th February in Super Bowl LVIII, Chiefs vs 49’ers that the US a & large amount of people worldwide loves football. It brings so many families together, so much togetherness & family time. It will bring great joy to fans of the winners & sadness to the losers. You just have to love the affect it has on lives.
309  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XMR Zcash and other private coins are getting delisted from binance on: February 07, 2024, 10:24:49 AM
Sad for privacy coin enthusiasts but what are the exchanges supposed to do? If they are threatened with denial of services to specific countries unless they delist said privacy coins then as a business, they simply have to do so. I mean, they could get embroiled in court battles & litigation to fight it but is it really worth it to them? They run very profitable exchanges even without privacy coins so it just isn’t worth jeopardising their businesses to fight for privacy coin inclusion. There are still no KYC places like Bisq people can use but privacy coins are dead as far as any future mainstream adoption goes.
310  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Has Education acheived it aim to eradicate poverty in african society on: February 07, 2024, 10:14:12 AM
Education of course massively helps in the fight against poverty in African society. By providing people with knowledge & skills, education etc it empowers them to break the cycle of poverty & improve their economic prospects. It equips them with the necessary tools to participate in the workforce, create sustainable livelihoods & contribute to the development of their communities. Collaboration between governments, civil society & international organisations is essential to address the existing barriers & create an enabling environment for education to fulfil its potential in poverty reduction.
311  Other / Politics & Society / Re: High Crimes in UK London what is the problem ? on: February 07, 2024, 09:58:15 AM
Many blame Muslim Mayor, Sadiq Khan for the increase in crime in London during his tenure as Mayor. Increased immigration plays a big part too. Has anybody ever been to London, it is full of low value immigrants. I went there once in the 80’s & when I returned in 2018 it was like a different city. London has fallen, I feel sorry for the Brits.
Obviously a multi-cultural city isn’t a bad thing but their borders are not under control, more & more non-skilled workers are going to Europe all the time, in search of free welfare. Big European cities are struggling with increases in crime due to uncontrolled immigration with violent, uneducated third worlders arriving.
312  Economy / Economics / Re: Cryptocurrency impact on Economy on: February 07, 2024, 09:48:09 AM
Cryptocurrency has a significant impact on the economy. It offers the potential for financial inclusion by providing access to banking services for the unbanked. It can enable faster & cheaper cross border transactions which reduces the need for intermediaries. Volatility can pose risks for investors & businesses. Cryptocurrency also raises concerns about money laundering & illegal activities. The decentralised nature challenges traditional financial systems. Cryptocurrency has the potential to revolutionise the economy but its impact is still evolving & requires careful regulation & monitoring.
313  Other / Politics & Society / Re: World Cancer Day on: February 06, 2024, 12:55:19 PM
Some things are programmed genetically & there’s not much you can do but you certainly do some things to lower your risk of getting cancer. Try to adopt a healthy lifestyle by maintaining a balanced diet, engaging in regular physical activity & avoiding tobacco & excessive alcohol use. Protect yourself from the sun by using sunscreen, seeking shade & wearing protective clothing. Get vaxxed against viruses like HPV & hepatitis which can increase cancer risk. Always participate in cancer screening programs recommended for your age & gender such as mammograms & colonoscopies. These steps can't eliminate risk but can greatly reduce it. May I just wish anybody who is affected by this awful disease the very best.
314  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Personal Computer Mined How Many Bitcoin Per Day In 2009? 100? 250? 1700? on: February 06, 2024, 12:32:28 PM
I have always been interested in how difficult it was to mine BTC in 2009, but there seems to be no clear answer.

In 2009, the difficulty was 1. The number of blocks a computer could mine at the time varied depending on many factors, but a CPU miner had a hash rate of up to around 3 MH/s. With a difficulty of 1, that corresponded to a maximum of about 60 blocks per day, or 3000 BTC/day.

In 2010, the difficulty rose quickly as more people began mining, and so the number dropped. By the end of 2010, the difficulty was around 15000, so that same 3 MH/s CPU miner only mined 0.2 BTC/day.

BTW, the average time between blocks can be estimated with this:

time in seconds = difficulty * 232 / hash rate

So, the average time to find a block for a 3 MH/s CPU at a difficulty of 1 is 1 * 232 / 3000000 = 1432 seconds

Incredible insight, if only I was lucky enough to be aware of Bitcoin back then. By the time I finally got in, in 2015,  the days of solo CPU Mining were a thing of the past. Congratulations to were involved that early, must feel good.
315  Economy / Economics / Re: COPA fights for Bitcoins true image against Craig Wright on: February 06, 2024, 11:02:13 AM
We all know that Craig Wright is not Satoshi. His fraud & persistent lies are getting very tiresome now. He’s lost in court previously but I really hope it is the final nail in this scammers coffin soon. He is constantly lying in court, committing perjury. He needs to do jail time, one of the most unscrupulous characters I have had the displeasure of being aware of.
316  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Silly and scary questions, and what would you do if that were you. on: February 06, 2024, 10:04:51 AM
I have lots of Bitcoin addresses & a number of different types of devices I store my stash on. If I was kidnapped or tortured I’d give up one of the devices and say that’s all I had. If the kidnappers were dumb I might try & send money to the kidnappers Bitcoin address with a fee of 0 sat/byte, wait for them to leave, then when it doesn’t confirm, in a couple weeks it drops from the mempool & then it’s back in my wallet.
317  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FTX to refund customers at Bitcoin's prices below $18,000 on: February 06, 2024, 09:37:29 AM
It should definitely be in full but at this point, I think customers will just feel some relief to at least get something back. What happened with FTX was a disgrace & yet another stain on cryptocurrency & stick for people to beat us with. As I said though, at least they will get something refunded, it’s not much but it’s better than nothing.
318  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's the biggest airdrop you've ever received? on: February 04, 2024, 11:33:07 AM
The biggest & most profitable airdrop I ever was received was all the free shit forks during the block size wars. It was a really worrying time with Bitcoin & all the drama around it but remembering back now, we all got a lot of free money out of it by simply holding Bitcoin. I converted some of the BCH & smaller forks into real Bitcoin & sold the rest for fiat. That was by far my biggest & best airdrop(s).
319  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Reason for acquiring bitcoins. on: February 04, 2024, 09:57:48 AM
The reasons for acquiring Bitcoin are because it’s the greatest innovation of the last couple of hundred years. It’s a financial behemoth, an inflation killer & the future of finance. It’s financial suicide to not hold even 5% of your wealth in Bitcoin. I’m struggling to think of legitimate reasons for people not to hold a small amount of Bitcoin. The idea is to protect yourself against forever devaluing fiat currencies. Bitcoin is the best tool to help you with that.
320  Economy / Economics / Re: are we returning to stone age? on: February 04, 2024, 09:03:51 AM
It is highly unlikely that we will return to a lifestyle similar to that of 1000 or more years ago. Technology has become deeply integrated into our daily lives improving efficiency, communication & quality of life. The global population has massively increased making it difficult to sustain a primitive lifestyle. There is a growing movement towards sustainable living and minimalism where people seek to reduce their reliance on tech & live more self sufficiently which let’s face it, is a good thing. Complete regression is improbable but adopting elements of off-grid living is a possibility for some of us.
