When is the DDOSing stopping ?
Probably when you decide to stop pointing your skript at 127.0.0.1.

More likely, the heatsink is just all full of mung.  Side is off the case, pets in the area, in a basement, hell, he probably blows cigar smoke directly into it also.   Grin

Before you pull the card apart to re-paste it, hit it with some compressed air.

O so true. I smoke around 2 packs a day in my DC and have a construction site across the road weekly compressed air cleaning of rigs is an absolute must.
IN the dc? Dammit man, remind me never to colo any servers with you. I like my servers to be reliable.

I've gotten banned from IRC...So I wont be on that for a while...lol

I'll find a way to get to it sometime soon, I have a Remote VPS, so i can use that.. =)
Start your own channel, not too hard.
3304  Other / Off-topic / Re: My dog has arthritis :'( how much oily fish can I feed her a week? on: April 28, 2012, 08:53:58 PM
Can I feed her Omega3 as well and have you got some links about the ginger and garlic treatment please.
wtf? Omega3? ... fresh fish would be ok. Liver is fine, provided cow or sheep had a happy life in sunlight on green gras.
Well links ... if you donīt trust me, why would you trust my links?
Maybe you can start from here.

Omega3 is very high in oily fish and tinned sardines are cheap.  Fish-oil is well known to help with arthritis but I've never heard of ginger and garlic being used that's why I asked for some links on it so I could find out more.  Thanks.
Yeah I have only heard of ginger for digestive problems.

I don't give refunds to customers that call me scammer and abuse my reputation PUBLICLY without consulting me first in private.

You forget something or ?

3306  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Future of money panel discussion: Virtual Currencies on: April 28, 2012, 08:51:24 PM
Many Bitcoin Escrow companies exist, and I even talked about it at the end of the panel

That's cool. The video sounded a bit like it was cut off by some unknown amount before the end.

Yeh, the whole panel was 1 hour, I think she ran out of tape Sad

tape?

How many Gbyte's of tape did she have? LOL
Digital tape is generaaly not measured by GB. If it was, I suspect the real estate would be TB because of the low compression.

That just made me laugh because my kids Flip SlideHD will record 2 hours of HD video on a single charge and hold 4 hours of video before downloading at 720p. How can you run out of tape?

You run out of tape when you are using actual tape, like this:
Not hard drives or memory cards.
3307  Other / Meta / Re: Unjust scammer tag on: April 28, 2012, 08:19:20 PM
In BTC there are no refunds. It is meant to be irreversible. I was not asking for USD.

You make a mistake you face up to it. There is no chargeback or some other crap.

You delete the wallet the coins are lost etc.

As I just said, the lack of chargebacks doesn't make theft obsolete. The fact that we consider spending an erroneous transfer to be theft is not dependent on the currency in which it happens. If I you're my neighbor and accidentally receive my sweet-ass pimped out computer (physical goods), you don't get to use it. If you accidentally receive my bank transfer (USD), you don't get to spend it. If you accidentally receive my bitcoins (virtual currency), you don't get to keep it. Or rather, you do, but it makes you a thief.

It's up to you, really, but your reaction and lame attempts to justify your act of theft have done way more to destroy your reputation than the scammer tag ever did.
This is a good analogy. If the postman delivers something to you that should have gone to the guy next door, do you keep it even though the label says his name and not yours? If you do, that is theft, and you deserve to be in prison for being a thief.
3308  Other / Off-topic / Re: Question to multi-BFL Single miners: temperature and throttling issues on: April 28, 2012, 08:08:02 PM
There are 2 places where some lights blink: On the front panel is the power light, and also the one that indicates throttling. Inside on the right side, there is another pair that pulse whenever a nonce is sent to the host and other indications. The front panel one is the one to worry about, and it should be fine if your ambient is less than 72 degrees F or about 21 degrees C.

Did you get the new backplane yet?
I think you mean the host card (SHB), and no that will arrive on Tuesday.

More Goat ranting in the wrong thread as usual? Utter disregard for the laws of his own country? Blaming his own incompetence on others? Check, Check, and Check. Just another day on Bitcointalk! Have fun folks, nothing more to see here!
3311  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: [102% TESTING] I want your hashing power! "Project #2" on: April 28, 2012, 07:37:31 PM
It would be in their best interests never to discuss this sort of issue in public, even if Goat made up lies such as,"They copied my wallet off the server and THEN set fire to it, and by the way, rg told me he was shakaru!"
This is why "legit" companies never have a useful and handy forum/IRC presence. There are humans behind the companies after all, and I can understand rg's frustration over what we know to him is basic admin competency - backing things up.

The total expenditure so far on the project is $2,865.86, not including time spent or video cards since I had them already. (13x 5870s from Bensoutlet)

If loaded to the gills with big GPUs, this rig needs a lot of power. Fortunately, PDUs that can handle it are cheap these days. I got this massive sucker for less than a hundred bucks with shipping:

Rated for 62 amps at 250 VAC. It has a 25 amp circuit breaker on each outlet, although each one is rated for a max of 16 amps, and each section of 2 receptacles is rated for a max of 16 amps total. It has current monitoring on each outlet, Ethernet and serial ports for monitoring, and includes an environmental probe for temperature monitoring. The plug is massive, although I'll probably end up hard wiring it. The cable is 3 conductor 6 AWG.

In most jurisdictions you have a legal obligation to make it available for his return.
THIS. There are endless volumes of precedence on this very basic principle.
3316  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: [102% TESTING] I want your hashing power! "Project #2" on: April 28, 2012, 05:59:38 PM
hmm j/w if it is true that the server was sold before the lease agreement is up. bc in that instant your BitVPS Policy - # We are not liable for any damage or loss of data. All clients are responsible for the backup of their data. would be null and void since you broke the lease contract. at least that is how it would play out in a court.

Where'd that come from? Was that a posting somewhere that I missed?  If it wasn't, how would you know anything about it unless either Goat or RG said something?

The story I am being told is RG's data center resold my server despite having time left. I am waiting for him to post in this thread with more details.

3317  Economy / Securities / Re: Should I start Diablo Mining Company, a 1M BTC startup? on: April 28, 2012, 05:56:34 PM
So far, I haven't heard any substantial arguments against the plan, other than ones that can be explained away with "we can't predict conversion rate, difficulty rate, etc", and I am OK with that. Where do I invest?

What about:
* poses real risk of centralisation by creating a hash rate for a single person that can compete even with deepbit in the suggested configuration. <-- Same with Vlad's operation, really.
* Diablo has not disclosed any previous work experience with either energy generation (a few mē are nice and might get subsidies - but if you start talking about several kWh it gets tricky and expensive) or mining farm administration. <-- I think his credentials are sufficient for this operation, or at least he would know who to contract anything major out to.
* Investments will be in USD, Shares will be valued in BTC - as soon as BTC prices rise, your investment has gone bad. Profits will be in USD (electricity) and BTC (mining), both sources of income can (and probably will) be squashed by USD<-->BTC conversion rate and Bitcoin's internal difficulty mechanisms. <-- See my "we can't predict conversion rate, difficulty, etc" thing above.
* To earn back your investment, this "company" has to generate at least 2 million Bitcoins either through mining (gets more and more diffficult --> Moore's Law, reward cut every 4 years) or electricity (valued in USD, paid in BTC --> currency risk). This is NOT realistic from a current point of view. <-- What is unrealistic about it? For a company that is just starting with a 5 year plan, why shouldn't it exist for 10, 15, 25 more years?
* It is suggested to use FPGAs - even though these are powerful mining machines, ASICs are potentially faster and save more power. Also: hardware doesn't last forever. Written off for 5 years, it means that they cost ~200 USD a piece per year additionally to electricity costs. <-- ASICs aren't available yet, and I am sure that they would be on the table if they were.
* others (as an example: Vladimir) have more experience, plan more realistically, don't get cought up in dreams about self sustainability with solar power but focus on their job and have already industry partners as well as a registered company (...and are known by their real name!). They also deal in fiat currency mainly, which after all isn't that volatile usually. You'd still get out the same amount of BTC but buying a second share from the IPO will cost roughly the same as the first share. <-- So you have more info about Vlad's operation than we do? Do please elaborate.
See points in RED above.

probably the same guys that own ten and hundred of thousands of bitcoins, we all know who that are .
And who might they be? Can you prove it?

IT MEANS YOU GOT NOTHING! LOL WTFSTFU
or maybe you are a terrorist.
or maybe you want Bitcoin to fail.
or maybe English is not your first language.
Haven't you figured it out yet? The bolded item is the correct answer.
3320  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Quad XC6SLX150 Board - Initial Price Ģ400/$640/520€ on: April 28, 2012, 05:34:34 PM
The -2 and -3N are similar prices. If you don't need memory controller the main advantage of the -3N is that it offers slight better I/O speeds. However the logic delay which is a bit part of Bitcoin speed is the same between the -3N and -2. So for some applications the -3N might be slightly better but I don't think so for Bitcoin. Not anything worth talking about at least.

Our choice is based on the volume we use -2 at in other products. We would pay a lot more for the -3N and our board would be dearer if we used that for little or no performance improvement. When customers get hold of our board I am sure results will be on the forum within hours and we will see how close my experience is. There is far more to be gained in areas other than speed grades that I would think about first.
Good info, thanks. And I might as well ask, although no one else seems to have any info on Artix 7, do you as a large manufacturing joint have any other info? I think that is one of the most anticipated devices, although it sounds like it will be rather late.
