401  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Lomachenko vs. Kambosos - May 12 IBF Lightweight Title on: January 18, 2024, 12:04:52 PM
They say this is Haney's left-over fights, hehehe, but it's true, however, I'm not that convinced that Haney totally defeated Loma in their fight. And then he refuses Loma for a rematch. Haney though has accomplished a lot in his young career, so we will give him that.
Obviously, it is, but for us, he beat Kambosos fair and square. But against Lomachenko, it's questionable as most of us here thought that Loma did enough to at least make it a draw. But the judges saw that early score of Haney is enough for him to win. So it's not that it's a left-over fight. And with Haney going up in weight and winning a belt, I don't think he will go back to this weight anymore. And so it's good to hear that the IBF belt is on the line for this two. And I'm seeing Loma winning and maybe it's time for Tank Davis to fight him. Tank has been protected for so long, and they should make fight a real champion.

As for this fight, Kambosos only advantage here is that t his fight is going to be in his native Australia again. Nevertheless, it's not a assurance, Haney traveled to Australia and bet him twice. And I think his string of bad luck fighting in his home country will continue as I see Loma winning thru 12 rounds here.
Loma needs a convincing win though. He is going to travel to Australia and we have seen worst thing happen like in the Pacquiao vs Horn fight. Hopefully, they won't rob Loma. But Loma can remove the judges in this scenario if he can win by a knockout. Or just a total dominant win just like what he did when he has coming to 135 lbs and defeating a lot of great boxers.
402  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: January 18, 2024, 11:49:59 AM
Volatile nature of Bitcoin is a big issue even for long time investment, it makes both the new investors who's intention is to learn more in the process and the old investors to experience or maximize FOMO and the fear of doubt and uncertainty Which are very common to investors, volatility should only be seen are a characteristic of Bitcoin to encourage investors not to sell but to hold and accumulate even more regardless the nature of the volatility which has made some investors to sell their investment.
Volatility is mainly a problem for short term investors because long time investment does not require you to be looking at the price of Bitcoin regularly. If I start buying Bitcoin today and set my mind that my investment will be held for at least 7years, why will I shake when the price drop sharply? Of course those buying at the dips might FOMO a little when there is market drop, because they will be contemplating the right entry point, but those that are using stable process like DCA are not bothered at all because whether price drop or not, they already set aside some part of money to be invested in Bitcoin at a certain time they have already planned irrespective of the price.
And that is the main reason why trading or at least short term of it is not for everyone. We have heard horror stories here specially around 2018 wherein there are members who have experienced a first bull run 2017, thought that it will go like that forever. And they didn't take into account that the next cycle might be worst and that's what happen to the majority of them. They continue to short or day trade, to no success as the market make a U-turn.

For those who are worried about the volatile nature of Bitcoin, the DCA method is highly recommended as the advantages are enormous. Not only this, there are many other advantages that the DCA method have which is the reason it dominate the discussion here. Many people are already applying it and you can see the testimonies by simply scrolling through the discussion.
But for "smart" investors, well, volatility could be a friend to say the least. Not that it will affect us mentality, but used it to challenge us and then be intelligent to buy during the dip, or do the best strategy that is known to us, DCA. And then have the mental toughness to go day in, day out, daily grind or weekly to stack sats as much as we can and then just sell it when the time comes or necessary.
403  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin [BTC] Price Could Reach $1.5 Million by 2030 Says Cathie Wood on: January 17, 2024, 09:30:21 PM
Anything can happen in this industry but for the price of Bitcoin to reach $1million in 2030, it will be difficult for old investors to take that prediction from the CEO of Ark because if you look at where the price of Bitcoin is coming from and where it is now in the market, you will know that the price will do better in the future but it will not reach that amount in five years time. Many holders have been waiting for a new price of Bitcoin in the market since last year but the market price is not coming close to last two years price $69,212 for people to know that in five years time the price of Bitcoin will hit $1.5million in the market. Don't forget that anybody can predict about the price of Bitcoin, and what the CEO Ark predicted is just to let people know that he is a fans of Bitcoin.

Everyone can make her/his prediction here, it's free, but you have to understand the reasoning behind, perhaps this entities will have something to gain with this kind of exorbitant predictions, like in this case, they are institutional investors and so they are what we call, "buy the rumor, sell the news", a strategy that is very effective, as this is deeply rooted for marketing, hence they want to attract more clients.

But for bitcoin enthusiast, this price might be possible but not as early as 2030. We still haven't seen the price reaching $100k yet, although this bull cycle, almost majority as saying that the 6 digits might be hit. Still a long way to go though, and it will take a lot of money to flow into the market for Bitcoin to reach at last $1 million in the next 2-3 halvings.
404  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is a different kind of wonder on: January 17, 2024, 08:44:36 PM
Relying on the past 15 years as a basis for forecasting for the coming years is not accurate, as the price of Bitcoin started at a very low price and rose and will not rise at the same level, but the patterns may be repeated, which happens every four years. If the pattern is repeated, we will see levels higher than $80,000 before the end of this year. And levels higher than 130 thousand dollars before the end of next year, and therefore it is an opportunity to double your money three times or at least twice, and therefore it is better to prepare for that instead of thinking that the price will reach very high levels, such as more than $200k.

That's what my though has been it would be better to start accumulating Bitcoin instead of focusing on how and when the value of Bitcoin would increase, though we have seen in the past Bitcoin will surely increase despite the hurdles. We should be more worried about the fact we have not accumulated much and work towards hodling more Bitcoin. But I believe ATH will be achieved next year based on last two bull seasons data as many are expecting bull run this year and we may see some dumps which we have to capitalize on to buy Bitcoin at lesser price.
Definitely, if we look his past history, there are patterns on prices, but it's hard to predict where and when and what will be the highest it will go through. And that's why there are early bag holders who tend to sell instead of holding as they thought that bitcoin will not go that far. But look at what happen to it, majority of them regret their decision to sell early. Nevertheless it's not that late for them and for the majority of us to buy and then HODL (specially for those who don't want to trade).

And in the incoming bull run, or right after the block halving, bigger prices are to be expected, again. Speculators are predicting a minimum $100K at least as our new all time high. But we will see, it could be +/-, however, if we have accumulate this past couple of years, we might be just sitting in the bull run and see how it unfolds and look how bigger our portfolio will grow.
405  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Three gems in my view on: January 17, 2024, 01:20:51 AM
I don’t know much about Sui & Optimism but Arbitrum is a solid project. It has the potential to do at least a 10 x in the upcoming bull market. Proceed with caution & do your own research but in my opinion, Arbitrum has a lot of room for upwards price discovery.
Right, as far as I can remember, when this project was listed, it was on top tier exchanges that's why it was able to break at least in the top 20-30 list. Even their airdrops was worth something, a thing that we haven't seen in years in the altcoin market, and lucky for those who got the airdrop around March of last year, and maybe some of them have sold it already for a quick profit, or just HODL on them as we are now in the bull market and just time when the price will go up and shot.

But if we look at it's previous all time high, ARB is way below at -81%. But I think that is the norm for some of the top altcoins. Because as I have said, everything really depends on the bull run and I think this year and the next year, some of them will reach new all time high, including ARB. Everything right now is at Layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum as it powers faster smart contract and that's what a project needs as it include bring down the cost of transactions.
406  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: January 17, 2024, 12:35:40 AM
Jazz do seem to be getting some things under control, I did think that they would be going for tanking at the start of the season, so the fact that the yare winning is a surprise to me, but it is not a good thing neither for them. Right now they are 9th, not a good team, not going to win anything, but they are not tanking neither. So they will end up with neither a good playoff run, maybe not even be in playoffs, but they will also not be in the tanking system neither, not get a good draft pick neither.
They got everything going right now, I think they made adjusted like putting Nunn as their starting point guard. And obviously, Lauri Markkanen is still improving, how many 7 footers we have seen that can dribble the ball (that behind the back that he pulled against D'Lo), and then shoot the ball with ease. Another big man that can do that is Jokic, but I think Lauri belongs to the top along with Joel Embiid.

This is the worst place to be, they get nothing from this, they will not become better next season neither, it is just not going to work for them. I hope that they could end up with a few more wins so they would at least be in playoffs.
I think that Jazz has the potential to make the playoff, or worst be in the play-in but still the chance are still there if they keep on improving and be healthy throughout the season. The team has completely rebuild already from the last couple of years and if I'm not mistaken, only Clarkson, who remains as the remnant of the old Jazz. But still though, coming off the bench, Clarkson is still big in Utah.
407  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou - March 9 on: January 17, 2024, 12:19:21 AM
Another attraction to this fight is the undercard fight between Zhilei Zhang and Joseph Parker who both come from spectacular wins, Zhang against Joyce and Parker against Wilder and this is for the interim WBO heavyweight title.
These two fighters are now on top of the rank because of their wins against their respective opponents and the two are possible contenders for the winner in the Fury - Usyk fight in case the winner of the Joshua - Ngannou can't agree on the terms.
Parker is my favorite fighter to win against Zhang, I am more impressed by how he beat Wilder than Zhang beating Joyce, but he needs to be careful Zhang possesses a very wicked left straight and he has a good lateral movement.
Zhang vs Parker is also very difficult to predict. We've seen that Zhang left hand has that power and Parker has great lateral movement. So it's a question if Zhang can land that power and or Parker uses his movement to make Zhang misses his power shot.

And Zhang is dangerous in the early rounds and so if Parker can weathered the storm early, avoid that power and then uses his jab to not let Zhang set up his left hand, he might win this fight in the judges score card. But if Zhang in 6 rounds hit Parker, it might be an early fight for him. So the key for Parker is to ouboxed Zhang just like what he did against Wilder to stay away from that big left hand. But for sure this is going to be a great and competitive fight.
408  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Making too many picks reduces chances of winning. on: January 15, 2024, 01:43:46 PM
As gamblers, we love more action, so we tend to make more bets on a regular basis. However, experts say that when we make too many picks regularly, our chances of winning decrease. This is due to the fact that we won't be able to analyze all the games carefully that are in our ticket and won't have the advantage needed to win. So instead, it's recommended that we should value quality over quantity if we want to succeed in sports betting.

Share your opinion regarding this matter.
In sport betting, this might be true, and we have seen parlays being destroyed by just one game. And so if you just bet on a couple of single bets you might have to win, like 2 out 3 bets, for sure you will be in the positive.

But for games like lets say roulette, wherein it's better to bet like 10 numbers straight out of 36 on a single zeroes, you might still take some profits and then rinse and repeat. And if you're lucky, you can hit single numbers successfully and win big.
409  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: January 15, 2024, 10:36:45 AM
PG having a bad night so far against the Wolves with 1 of 10 FG. Good thing Powell is having a better first half so the game is still close. Kahwi with more shot attempts in the first half which I find unusual but he is doing okay.

Ended up with 16 points from 5-19 shooting, and not only PG actually, even Harden struggles who finished 14 points from 4-14 shooting. Height is might, when the twin towers of the Wolves are playing great, they'll likely win, and in this game, Gobert and Towns contributed 15 and 17 respectively.
Yes, big game by the two, Towns taking advantage when Westbrook is guarding him. He even had a alley-oop pass to Gobert for a slam. A good comeback by the Clippers but it was not enough, even Wb blew that easy two and the announcer says it was karma, Lol.

They are the number 1 team for a reason, but it's still good to see that the LA Clippers has been tested, this game turns out a close contest despite the Wolves took control of the game early.
It's the other way around, the Clippers tested the Wolves at home, they take a good lead in the first quarter and then in the final, but Clippers also a good team with Powell shooting 3 that close the score but then again, the Wolves can be denied with Gobert playing defense in the middle with that great block shot against Kawhi.
410  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: January 13, 2024, 06:16:56 AM
No Embiid, no problem for Sixers. Harris and Maxey play at All-Star level. Batum is on fire behind 3-pt line. Paul Reed is pretty good at both offense and defense. Even rotation players like Pat Bev and Mo Bamba were good. Fox and Sabonis are unrecognizable tonight. It's gonna be an easy win for Sixers after three losses in a row.

20 points lead with 4:09 left to play, it’s going to be a well deserved win for the 76ers, they stay locked from the very first quarter and never really let Sacramento Kings to get back into the game, limiting the Kings Dynamic Duo in Fox and Sabonis to a very low scoring game made it all possible for them, Sabonis had was just 2 or was it 3 field goal attempts in the first half. I don’t think I’ve seen him had less all season long.
Yeah, I think Maxey is emerging as their second option now behind Joel. But since Embiid is not present he will be the leader of and then Tobias Harris as the 2nd option for now. This is how they did against the Hawks and they almost win that game if not for some miscues in the last seconds.

But this time, they can't be denied as the Kings can't do anything about it. Bad shooting night for the Kings and they are a high scoring team. But with this phase by the Sixers, they can't do anything about it so good win by the Sixers to snap from their losing streak.
411  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Nery For Undisputed 122lbs Title - May on: January 13, 2024, 05:54:33 AM
I'm not very familiar with Nery's fighting style, but it seems he's got a pretty decent power in his punches. But his winning record is not made up of hard opponents. He will just be an easy opponent for Naoya. If Nery is one aggressive fighter who does not fear trading blows against an opponent, he may will lose the fight in the first 6 rounds. Naoya likes this kind of battle. This is where his monstrous blows are best at and be most useful.

Betting odds will definitely be very heavy in favor of Naoya.

Yeah, the only popular opponent he fought was Brandon Figueroa which he lost via knockout so safe to say that Nery is not as scary as his resume looks. If he choose to go toe to toe with Inoue, this would end early and might be boring to some of us here as this might be a one-sided affair in favor of the Japanese fighter.
Yes, but he loves to throw a lot and so he is a volume puncher and that's why people says that he might have a chance to beat Inoue. But I don't think so, Inoue has matured already and getting better every fight.

For sure, Naoya will be the heavy favorite in this fight regardless on how they are going to hype Nery's as a big puncher. Naoya has been with the best in bantamweight and super bantamweight and he beat them all and make them look amateurish.
412  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is not a means to an end, Do it for fun and don't take it as a job on: January 13, 2024, 12:55:29 AM
The only people who could make a living from gambling are the ones who owns it, not the gamblers or player.
If you want to make a living out of it then stop being the player be the owner or invest/share holder.
It is hard to make a living from gambling if you are thw player.
Exactly, casino operators or those who created slot machines are the only ones that are going to make lots of money out of us. And even us gamblers knows how the game is being played here, still though, we are willing to take that risk and hope that someday we are going to win big. But to consider gambling as like as means to an end, to bring food in the table for your family on a daily basis? it's a wrong mindset.

There could be some successful gamblers, like professional poker and win millions in a tournament. But still skills are a requirement and it takes someone years to perfect his craft to become a pro poker and still not assurance that you can land in the top 10 and make a lot of money.
413  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why I get less batching unlike before on: January 12, 2024, 09:06:18 PM
When I first came into the forum I easily get criticized by my actions, though I still get some sticks now but on a less note, but I have learned.

I have observed that as a newbie it is more important to learn by reading people post and comment than engaging in it, and for the few months I have been here I have really find it beneficial to me as a person in terms of knowledge about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency at large.
My advice to my fellow newbies is learn to listen more than talking, so that you can learn something new.
Good for you, everyone in the beginning here have been criticized, although it is very constructive for sure so that you will improved. The thing is that there are sensitive members who joined this community and then when they are criticized they take it negatively.

So just enjoy your stay here, this is a community so you can go around and see what topics interest you and then developed yourself. You can even study how others, specially respected members reply so that you can get something from them. So best of luck to you, it seems that you are going to rank up to Member as well.
414  Economy / Speculation / Re: will the btc price reach 100k ? on: January 12, 2024, 01:03:33 PM
What do you guys think?

Many factors can influence the price of bitcoin, and reaching the $100,000 mark remains a speculative goal that no one can be sure of. The movement of bitcoin cannot predict whether it will reach the $100,000 mark this year, but it is highly possible that it will happen in the next ten years to reach that level due to how bitcoin has evolved since its inception. I'm not saying it won't happen this year, but the current movement doesn't bode well for it; it could happen even next year if the market performs well until the end of the year. All of this is speculative until otherwise proven, so we can't rely on them for the time being.
This market has been speculative for years though, even since in the beginning. So we already understand how everything works, it's volatility, FOMO and what parameters affect the price. The good thing is that many of us knows how to play around and take advantage of it.

And so right now, with the whole ETF approval as 100% already, this could fuel the price to go up and ramp up before the halving. And then with the halving, it will pushes the price, and we all know that it will be the catalyst as we have seen it based on our history. So I think we can see 6 digits as our baseline for a new all time high, and it might peak at around 2025.
415  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 12, 2024, 11:22:32 AM
^^ A lot of good fights indeed for this year. But it's hard to argue though for Inoue winning that coveted Boxer of the year nod against Crawford. Even Haney had a good year as well but they give the award to the Japanese.

For unification between Beterbiev and Bivol, another anticipated match this year and hopefully it will be pushed or happened. I think that the Saudis are interested of making this fight as well as they love both of this fighter. We will just have to wait for Beterbiev to beat Smith this weekend and maybe their managers are going to sit down and talk for unification at LHW.
416  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou - March 9 on: January 12, 2024, 10:39:33 AM
Even after Ngannou's showing vs Fury the books line him at 4.20, via KO at 5.60 and vs decision at 16.  I think the latter has a lot of value in it.  Ngannou has the cardio to go all through the end in a boxing match as seen vs Fury.  But the question is how does Joshua take a punch from Ngannou?  Will he be able to stand up and soldier on til the end?  I really have no idea.

We all know Ngannou's chin could take a punch and he could prolly take Joshua's powerrr.  :/
I think the closest that we might see how Joshua can take a power puncher is obviously against his first defeat, Andy Ruiz. But I think Ngannou has more power that Ruiz and with that, if let's say Francis landed the way he landed on Fury, it might be goodnight for Joshua.

So not sure what bookies is putting him as a big underdog in this fight. But I think it's going to be a field day for gamblers who wanted to bet on the underdog. As we all know that Francis is a live dog and that odds is very enticing and it might cost big money on casinos if Francis is going to pull the biggest upset and score a knockout against Joshua in this fight.
417  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: January 12, 2024, 10:23:59 AM
I can't believe the temporary result of the bucks vs boston celtic. until the 3rd quarter, they lost 100-62. the squad is equal but I can't believe that they can lose so badly and be so far behind. boston celtic's game today is really bad.

Must be something in the air tonight. The Portland Trail Blazers are down by more than 60 to the Oklahoma City Thunder with a few minutes to go. I can’t remember the last time I saw a beat down that bad. Hard to believe they’re even running up the score that much.
Yes, it was really a blow out games, Blazers losing that big points against the Oklahoma City Thunder. I know that OKC might deliver a win in double digits, but not that huge. And then the Lakers started very slow against the your Suns,  Grin.

Beal having his best game as Suns and almost shooting perfectly in the 3 point line, 8/10. And then Durant and Booker too providing the needed offense and they really buried the Lakers in just 3 quarters and it was just moot in the 4th as we are waiting what will be the handicap win by Phoenix.
418  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou - March 9 on: January 11, 2024, 09:55:17 AM
I don't think that Ngannou will come back to UFC, he had beef with Dana White and not sure if other organizations is willing to get him because if there is, he wouldn't box against Fury. And he get his biggest paycheck in boxing, so doesn't make sense for him if he can fight like 2-3 more and then fill his bank with millions.

Beefs mean nothing, if there's money to be made by both sides, they'll find an agreement pretty soon.
As of now, Ngannou is obviously better off sticking to boxing, he can earn a lot more and it's arguably easier then mma (I could be wrong here). But if he disappoints against Joshua, which is a possibility, then he might have to either retire or go back to MMA for a couple of last fights.
If he at least survives all rounds and lands at least a few good shots, then he'll likely get a chance to fight another boxing match. Re-match against Fury would make a lot of sense, and I think Fury spoke positively about that.
It's not about a a fighter vs fighter beef, it's promotion (headed by Dana White) vs their fighter. So there's no agreement in between, and I don't think that Dana will give in to the demands of Francis if we talk about money. Dana is business and we all know that he will have his way one way or another and that's why I do not see Ngannou going back to his franchise.

And as we have seen, he is a natural striker with raw power. And boxing is the perfect fit for that kind of athlete. And besides, money in boxing is big for Heavyweight, specially that they have the back up of one of the richest nation, in Saudi Arabia.
419  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Nery For Undisputed 122lbs Title - May on: January 11, 2024, 06:18:20 AM
As expected, Inoue is set to defend his title against Luis Nery of Mexico. Just don't understand why the venue will be in Tokyo, Japan as Nery was banned from fighting in Japan due to cheating but I guess it has already been lifted (for confirmation).
regarding Luis Nery's ban, from what I understand on this article, his ban will be lifted before the fight, but there was no mention whether the lift of the ban on Nery will be permanent so I assume the lifting on his ban will only be for this fight against Inoue.

I am not familiar with Luis Nery so I am curious how he will fare against "the Monster" Naoya Inoue.
Inoue might not be fighting outside Japan, so for sure the lifting of the ban with Nery is already on process as they are announcing this match.
Wondering as well if Nery will have a match for Inoue which is fresh from the big win. Inoue seems unbeatable as of the moment so this can be an easy bet for many, waiting for the odds to release and will surely place a bet as well.
That is the question for whoever is the head of the Boxing commission in Japan, but it seems that this is already a good and they are going to lift Nery's ban anyways. So the fight is on and maybe they will released a official date once everything has been written in a contract that both parties have agreed.

And as we saw on Inoue, he is unbeatable and when we thought that fighters will at least give him a good test like Fulton or Donaire for instance, it's not even close as he takes control of the fight and knock them out.

And just to cap off Inoue's 2023 campaign, he was name fighter of the year by Ring magazine, https://www.japantimes.co.jp/sports/2024/01/06/more-sports/inoue-ring-magazine/

If you have the capital, then you can gamble as long as you want, it might affect your physical and mental health though. And as far as we know, everything in life should be done in moderation as we don't want to be addicted in gambling and other vices.

So for me, no, gambling like everything will bring more harm that good even if you win big. And we all know that sooner or later the house edge is going to caught up with us. And then we also have the luck factor. If you are unlucky, you can have a string of bad luck in days that will make you lose money.
