btw my hyper on bittrex what to do with these right now?

I'm currently offering to hold HYPER for those who do not have wallets and need a place to store them until the swap can take place if you want to store them with me free of charge.

Are you actively staking the coins as well, or a sort of cold wallet setup? And if the former, are these given (estimated) to users? I'd completely understand if you stake and keep it all, just curious as it does obviously have an impact on the floating amount and inflation.

There was a rumour a few days ago that the PBOC wanted in person verification:

http://bitcoin.xyz/pboc-proposes-person-verification-account-opening-exchanges-withdrawals-still-hold/

Quote
An article in the China Business Journal reportedly claims that the PBOC has sent a 4-page draft proposal to Chinese bitcoin exchanges. The bank is asking them if the requirements outlined in its proposal, including one involving a mandatory in-person verification, are feasible.

An exchange insider, Lu, told the Chinese publication that one of the items listed is the requirement for all new users to go through on-site verification before they can open an account. Bitcoin.com previously reported on the PBOC potentially requiring on-site verification in order to deposit or withdraw 50,000 yuan when using a Chinese bitcoin trading platform, but doing so to open an account was not mentioned.

Lu commented that this requirement is not feasible and does not follow the trends of the internet, citing that even stock market trading accounts allow remote video verification.

We shall have to wait and see if a) they accept viseo verification and b) how many of the customers of those exchanges agree to video verification.

I suppose b) depends on how much money is involved and whether they can afford to walk away to keep a low profile from the Chinese govt.

In-person verification is a ridiculous request, IMO. Unless their plan is not to "regulate" BTC, but rather to kill it in their country. Most aren't going to travel just to verify their identities.

Hello
I have question. My HYPER Wallet is behind, now it is 72000 blocks. And every day I get more blocks behind.
I have it online 24/7 and wallet shows 6-10 active connectctions. What can I do to improve?
thx

This happens to me occasionally but it is normally caused by not enough computer resources to establish a good sync. It could also be your blockchain forked.

If your wallet just stopped syncing all of a sudden let it sit there with only it running for an hour or two and nothing else and see if it starts syncing again. If it doesn't, then you will have to resync using the block files offered by Crazyjack.

I ran into this as well. Usually I'd just let it run overnight and it'd have shown progress by the morning. Pretty much everytime I ran it I'd have to do this.
424  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Anyone using newage-bank.com? on: April 01, 2017, 09:33:46 AM
I already saw people that used their site for free like a faucet saying it's not possible to receive the money. Transaction stay pending, but never deliver the money to your address. I don't know if people investing on it are receiving the money back, but it can stop working (and it will) anytime like any other Ponzi, HYIP scheme. I personally think this site is a waste of time.

This. If you get a return, it's because someone else lost money. But in all actuality you are likely going to be one of those that loses everything. Steer clear.

Huh TWO of the "big three" Chinese bitcoin exchanges Huobi and OKCoin are implementing video verification. Sure, it is so much better that on-site verification. If everything works out well, can we expect bitcoin withdrawals soon?

Probably soon.

And also i don't think that they're that much better than on-site verification. Usually they ask for your ID and you upload it and that's about it. But now they have to ask you for a live stream as well.

Another reason to store your bitcoins offline in a cold wallet.

Or just store it in whatever payment processor the currency you're trading with deals with, instead of holding it on an exchange.

Wait, you have to submit an identification AND do a live stream with them to verify you are who you say? This could be circumvented as well through fake IDs so don't really see the point.

I never heard about video verification until now, is there any existing service that use this sort of verification? I wonder will some people quit Huobi and OKCoin because of this. It will be very interesting to watch how this situation will develop in China, they are one of the first countries that will have some kind of regulations and we will see how will this affect on bitcoin users there, and how they will react on that. This will be a lesson to all of us, who knows will other exchange sites follow the same idea.

I've never heard of anything like that either. But keep in mind that if the major Chinese exchanges require it... it just becomes a normal part of life for them (that or they can't get involved).

Would love to see some examples of things you've personally built. And are you willing to do up-front quotes on projects (i.e., "this should take x hours, so y is the cost," rather than keep paying while you work out your bugs/learn things?
428  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: If you have 10 BTC = Approx $10,000, where would you invest for 1% monthly? on: April 01, 2017, 03:30:23 AM
Hello, recently i found out freebitco.in is offering 4% per annum

Other than cloud hash mining, is there any good investment for dividends?

Thanks!

I think invest in some casino or Dice site would be a good choice.

or if you want something risk-free, you can just deposit to Freebitco.in to earn the interests
I wouldn't exactly call depositing your bitcoins online and trusting 'investment provider' to be risk-free.
You basically are trust in their promise that they will give back your coins with accrued interest.
They might or might not do this.

Plus, high volatility of BTC can kick you in the nuts when you give up control of your coins you can't monopolize on it.
You can't sell coins when price reach ATH, you can't sell it to prevent money loss when price is crashing either...

This is the one thing people refuse to pay attention to: it doesn't matter WHO you are lending your funds to/investing in, there IS RISK. NOBODY can guarantee a risk-free "investment." Even the FDIC isn't truly risk-free. Anyone who tries to convince you otherwise is either above every world government/everyone else in the world and has found a special trick that literally no mathematician/thinker could come up with or is lying. And the chance of it being the former is exactly 0.000000%
429  Economy / Exchanges / Re: The Return of Crypotocurrency Withdrawals? on: April 01, 2017, 03:27:00 AM
First, Coinbase and now those two big exchange. If anyone continue using these services after withdrawing his bitcoin, he can't blame anyone but himself If things goes wrong after that. The community should boycott these exchange until they change their ways on dealing with the bitcoiners.

The issue is the government has their regulations. No matter how you want to view it, they WILL attack anyone who gets in their way. That's how the world works. If Coinbase didn't follow the rules, govt would have those associated sent to jail and would confiscate everything by force. This idea that we can go without regulation is never going to happen as long as there's government.

Yobit wallet down bleh

It was down over a month ago.  If you want to trade, there is alcurex and novaexchange for VTY market.  Though I think it was listed in megacrypton too but now I cannot find it there.  I deposit some of my VTY there but I cannot see it anywhere.  I think megacrypton just stole the VTY deposited on thier exchange and maybe the reason why there are huge amount being sold at 1 satoshi.

This is why we really need VTY to be listed on a more trusted exchange as Yobit's wallet is always in maintenance and the other exchanges are okay but not the best. I would like to see VTY listed on Cryptopia for now as this exchange is a good exchange and then once VTY starts to get bigger then we can start to think about getting it listed on Polo and Bittrex. Even C-cex might be okay for now if it can get listed on there.
I just hope yobit fixes their wallet at this point lol.

It seems there is no chance that the wallet in yobit will be fixed.  I read the development team had sent a message to the yobit management but it seems they are ignored.  Have not seen the wallet being fixed.  I just hope they pump it hard there since some of my VTY are trap there without the mean of withdrawing.

Why would anyone pump it if you can't withdraw it? If anything, it'd get dumped. Not understanding why you think anyone would overpay for something that has zero value now (as those coins are likely to never be withdrawable, they will never have value).

thanks

When should we expect the rewards for this? Looks like you may have missed my post. Username: Ranlow

Thanks, Smiley

You have 82/100 and like 15 dont pass bets

It'd be nice if there were a way to see that. I just kept spamming bets for about 7-10m since there was no counter. BTW, there are tons of grammar/spelling errors in the site...

Stay calm everyone, that is life, accidents happen all the time. There are good and bad times. "Why do we fall ? So that we can learn to pick ourselves up." I am pretty sure you all know that quote very well.

Anyway, we are all in loss here. I am very sorry to hear what happened to you CryptoDatabase. I can't imagine if that would happen to me, with all that work put in and now all has been lost. I would go nuts for a couple of days, i guess!

I suggest you to take some time off, calm your mind, rethink what to do in the future and start again from the beginning, but not from the scratch, because you have learnt something by now. And do that every time. We all fall, its just a matter of time when, most importantly is how we get up and start over again and again and....etc.

Now, about our little swap project, when you get your stuff in some kind of reasonable level of order, tell us where we are and from what point of progress can we continue further on.

And about that not able to make and trades now, we can apply for an exchange at poswallet.com (sure, it will take some time). I find their service quite amusing and interesting. For coin to be listed, it needs 1000 free votes (sure, there are paid votes too). We can still apply for with an old HYPER but it would be better if we go with the new one.

Well said, crazyjack. Thanks, CryptoDatabase for all that you've done to keep HYPER alive.

Huge +1 here. Even after the tragic situation you experienced, you didn't use that as a cop out for ditching and moving on. Not sure how you feel about it, CryptoDatabase, but I would have zero issues voting you as the new leader for HYPER going forward.

Are you planning to make this a social game? Been looking for someone to do that for a long time now (like where multiple people are on the same table, like in real life). As far as I know nobody has done this yet.
436  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Coinbase added a fees now on: March 31, 2017, 02:08:04 AM
i was using coinbase to send bitcoin to my users without any fees but now they add fees 0.5$ per transactions
but transfer from coinbase to another coinbase still for free just enter email receiver , do not enter an bitcoin address
or they will count a fees of 0.5$
also there are no send in bulk at coinbase
So transactions between other coinbase users are free? Miner/transaction fees are taken care of by them?
So the only way I can think of this happening if you enter in their email address they used to register with coinbase for them to know if your sending to another coinbase member.
Any clarification on this revealing fact? Huh

I believe that if you're using a Coinbase address the same thing happens. At least it used to -- I've sent payments before that showed "to Coinbase user" when using their actual address.
437  Economy / Securities / Re: [IPO] Snapbook - Next Gen Social Network, 25 BTC loan, 25% interest, 2X LIQ PREF on: March 30, 2017, 07:05:53 AM
Its known as convertible debt, not convertible loan, however I see plenty of flaws in your concept that present it as a high risk for anyone here (others probably see it too). Anyway...

1. What will happen if the business fails? 90% of startups usually fail, and people here isnt in the business to lose money, unlike angel investors and vc, who arent in the business to lose money, but understand the risk of INVESTMENTS.
2. Why are you coming to a bitcoin forum asking for a loan or a "convertible debt"? Why not go to an investor or a VC and pitch them your idea?
3. Do you have any understanding of an IPO, and what it is?
4. Why do you need a loan right now when something that you are doing can be done without a loan or investment during its early stages, then probably amount $200 to get it off the ground initially with about an additional $200 for advertising?
5. Why dont you have real world data? Start your concept, build a userbase, and see where that go because ive seen many social media projects go under after projecting XXXX in so many months or years.
6. Do you have anything other than stock that can be presented as collateral for your 25 btc request because people here want their money, not worthless common or preferred stock that wont get their money bank if the company goes under (if there is such a thing - where is this company located/registered at anyway?)

EDIT: Either way, I would not suggest asking here. You wont get anything. Try btcjam or go to a real investor or vc and pitch to them and see if they will invest or not.

1. We are not going to fail, we are great startup people. We have many successful businesses, previously we worked on a distribution/logistics startup on Alphabay.

2. We want to give the bitcoin community exclusive opportunity for our loan. You are special

3. Yes, initial public offer. This is the IPO of our loan

4. We need money to pay our team! This isn't soviet russia

5. Real world data will come after we launch

6. We have very high feedback on alphabay, 99% positive

do you know that you have to register with SEC and approvals for soliciting Series A funding ?
First of all have you incorporated a company ? and hwo can you expect people to invest without a real business plan and in a anonymous company operated by a anonymous person who deals on deepweb ?

I think everyone has beat this horse to death but seriously, if anyone is even considering loaning funds to this person, you're not making a loan, you're giving away money. The OP makes it clear they have no idea what they're doing, nor what they're even talking about (which is evident by not knowing business protocol or even proper term usage, despite claiming they're pros at this). 100% scam.

Good to see a signature campaign for VTY coin. I think the VTY needs to make websites with great contents that can attract the crypto community. Brain storming sections for new ideas would be great. How useful would it be if the team offers bounty for users who give the best idea to take VTY to the next level?

I think instead of just ideas, it'd be better to pay for actually doing things that help. Like maybe a type of affiliate-like system.

I agree VTY should be executing project plans  by now if only they are successful with their ICS.  They also need a more professional site, a half finished site is quite a turn off for me (please do not take offense on this, I am just citing some flaws).  Affiliate-like system is good too but the question is what kind of project would they integrate this affiliate system.

Couldn't agree more with the design. There are plenty of free WP themes that look a lot better than that, and there are many paid ones that are ridiculously beautiful.
