441  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: It's spelt NxT and besides it's an outted scam!! on: June 24, 2015, 08:49:05 AM
Jeff Garzik, one of the developers of Bitcoin and possibly the future lead developer, determined there are probable backdoors in the NXT source code.

NxT was a scam where its' founder owns at least 400 million NxT.   Shocked

It's called TaunSew and is incapable of coming up with any new material:

Hashes do not match, the "open source" NXT that is available to download is not the same as the NXT that everybody downloads on their desktop, which contains probable backdoors (which explains much of the thefts which occurred within NXT since launch).

Jeff Garzik covered this ages ago

https://twitter.com/jgarzik/status/511928969000943616

NXTers deny / refuse it but that's the power of running an internet cult.  Jeff Garzik has nothing personal against NXT.  He's a developer for BTC, possibly even the lead developer if Gavin steps down, and he's doing all sorts of ventures to build cryptocurrency as a whole.

Replying to TS is being increasingly difficult, to be honest, his lies are just.......amazing.
Not to mention the fact that I (and others) have already answered them repeatedly.

Lets start with the thefts from NXT accounts: there have been around 10-12 thefts directly from accounts. Mostly small amounts of NXT, always owing to lousy password security.
In some cases less than 1000 NXT, but even so, it still sucks to lose your funds like that, so we always take theft reports seriously.
We've checked all of the thefts out, and in some cases recovered the funds.
In every case, people lost their NXT by using a well known phrase as password, or a simple ABCDABCD....  repeating pattern.
Since we started beefing up password security a year ago....no more thefts.
Most of the guys/girls/whatever who lost NXT are still involved with Nxt, including the guy who actually had the most stolen (and recovered):
https://nxtforum.org/general-discussion/got-nxt-64-757-stolen-from-my-wallet-%27%28/msg50586/#msg50586
.....and now he's running a NXT-based business and representing NXT at conferences:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1AmBhjkVQU&feature=youtu.be

The backdoor: If there was a systematic backdoor built into the NXT code, you'd expect to see thefts on a much larger scale.
We've had a shitload of coders look at the NXT code since then, and there is no backdoor to be found.
The NXT dev community comprehensively answered Jeff G, and he hasn't come up with any evidence either.
https://nxtforum.org/general-discussion/a-longer-reply-to-jeff-garzik/
https://nxtforum.org/general-discussion/garzick-attacking-nxt-again/

Anyone who wants to check it out for themselves, and has the necessary skillz.........come on down, rip NXT to pieces and find that backdoor code:
https://bitbucket.org/JeanLucPicard/nxt/downloads/

Just to finish off here, 'coz I'm getting tired and grumpy........if you want to see exactly how NXT works:
http://jnxt.org/nxt/
Log in to this test NXT client with the alias 'nxt' and take a good look at what Nxt has built over the last 2 years.

NXT isn't a scam or a frigging cult, it's a sane, honest and legitimate project, one of the best in crypto right now.

To anyone who is curious about NXT: do your own research, rather than taking the word of bitter, repetitive trolls like TS.
Grrr.....what a little tit. Angry

(And, very sadly, I don't have 50 million NXT either......I've spent the last 18 months accumulating NXT in any way possible, and I'm just getting close to my first million, which makes me happy.)

Have you considered the possiblity that you may have Alzheimers, TS ?
You live completely in the past, yet can't remember stuff that you posted 4 days ago..... Huh

ROFling again......you're right  Cheesy
I do seem to be one of not very many people who give a monkeys f**k about this.
Sad, isn't it ?

Stan: one of your boys left this on my lawn......

Thought you'd like to have it back.

back to ROFLing......

@TS and btcj
Seriously, guys, wtf ? I raise one simple frigging piece of basic math, and then get to watch you two either avoid the point completely or shill more BTS gibberish.
Stylish, lads, way to promote BTS.

To paraphrase Stan: it's not rocket science.
One number is much bigger than the other number.
Both numbers should be the same.
Something is wrong.

The above numbers are pulled directly from Banx.io trade history, btw.

I'd still love to hear an explanation for this, even if it's as simple as "Oh, Banx.io doesn't actually show the full trade history, mate"

Anyone ? I've seen enough BS in this topic so far, so lets just figure out the numbers first before we draw any conclusions.

447  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT, the ultimate SCAM, will it die because of 100% pre-mine given to 50 people? on: June 20, 2015, 12:50:26 PM
Don't get angry...it's pointless.

Look at the amount of FUD and BS that the mainstream media have directed at Bitcoin and crypto-currency in general.
The only way to respond to this sort of fact-free trolling is to simply keep calm and carry on educating people: about BTC, about crypto and about NXT.

This thread is from over a year ago, and the OP completely blows his credibility in his first post:

Lets remember history for a moment.

NXT was all mined, approximately 1,000,000,000 tokens, instantly.

They were then given to forum members deemed most influential or a friend of the developers, 50 people got ALL THE COINS instantly.

There is very little in liquidity, creating a false illusion of wealth, try to sell 500,000 NXT on cryptsy and see what happens to that price!  On the other hand you could sell that much of Litecoin and the market for Litecoin would NOT hiccup!

NXT should be rightfully called out as the biggest insta-mine scam in the history of alt-coins.  It is written in JAVA.  It was kept CLOSED SOURCE to hide major flaws and security issues.

They keep promising features that then do not appear and claim features that do not really work.  Have you tried to use their asset exchange?  Not really functioning.

Should be renamed SHT or SCM.  Smiley

--edit--

NXT says scamming is okay -

Fairness is one of the most important factors, if not THE most important factor, for the viability of any crypto coin.

Unfortunately, NXT got it wrong.

fairness is a fake concept which has no place in capitalism

if u dont know this then u are delusional.  there is no fair cryptocurrency, this is hyprocite talk

look at bitcon its the worst obviously. fairness is such a joke anyway. there is no such thing as fairness in this world

Thank you for admitting that NXT is a scam - see this is the mentality of NXT and people behind it.

People who made NXT believe and support scamming.

Fairness is what separates men from animals and the 1st world from the 3rd world.

Fairness and empathy are what make us human.

NXT is inhumane, as proven by the poster above by his support and admission that NXT is a scam, even defending NXT's right to scam you.

peacefulmind quotes Come-from-Above as a reputable source of NXT information, but C-f-A is a troll account, with no connection to NXT at all.
Come-from-Beyond is one of the original NXT devs, the OP couldn't even get that right.
Not to mention the facts that:
NXT has been open source since February 2014 and still is.
NXT distribution was open to everyone to claim for over 2 months, on this forum.
73 people recieved NXT in the initial distro....heres the original NXT [ANN] thread:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=303898.0

I could go on, but it's probably quicker just to point out the correct information from the OP:
NXT is written in Java.

satoshi have hundreds and hundreds of million dollars in bitcoins and he's never touch, why would he want to bother with a scam coin? this is just a pure pump for a scam coin, what's go up must come down.

Hmmm....maybe because NXT is one of the few crypto-currencies that still embody Satoshis vision of financial empowerment for everyone, using an open, transparent and de-centralised system?

Check out the Nxt wiki for some more insight into NXT:

http://wiki.nxtcrypto.org/wiki/Nxt_Wiki

and the vision of BCNext (the original Nxt dev):

http://wiki.nxtcrypto.org/wiki/BCNext%27s_Plan

At this stage of the game, after almost 2 years and a massive amount of development, calling NXT a scam is pretty much the same as calling BTC a scam.
It simply makes no sense, and is incredibly short-sighted.

(and, no, I don't believe the message on Nxt came from SN, I think it was a test from one of the mobile payment platforms)
451  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Banxshare scam.. Fake market cap coinmarket on: June 19, 2015, 08:28:16 AM
By 'does nothing with it' you mean 'nothing apart from dominating the assets market and creating an ecosystem worth more than the total market cap of NXT itself ', I assume ?

Anyhow, much as I love the old BTS vs NXT grudge match......can we move back on-topic ?
You lot do know that this topic is about Banxshares, not Bitshares, right ?

Agreed it's off topic. So to stay on topic, for you complainers if you see an error somewhere please report it to me. If you don't like or understand assets don't be a BANX holder. If you don't like me or management then don't be a BANX holder. If you don't like... you guessed it don't be a holder! It's a simple concept.

We've shown you the 'error' in Banxshares trading volume: the numbers from Banx.io (the only trading platform for BANX) and the numbers from CMC.com do not match up.
And we're not talking about a small error, either. The reported trading on CMC ( $15,000)  is approximately 5 times higher than the trading shown on Banx.io ( $3000).

If Banxshares is a legitimate project, I'd expect them to take a look at this issue, figure out where the problem lies, then correct it and issue a sane statement. (that's a hint, btw)

If they are a scam.....I'd expect some defensive BS and a complete lack of action.

Again...issue a token on NXT and you won't have to deal with miners or blockchains yourself, everything will run over the NXT blockchain.
The token can also be traded on external exchanges, as well as used for internal business processes, so there is really no need to go to the hassle of maintaining a coin yourself.

Nah...EvilCoin is purely a having a laugh asset issue, not to be taken seriously.

For real NXT assets, take a look here:
http://coinmarketcap.com/assets/
These are all real projects, based on the NXT Asset Exchange system:
https://wiki.nxtcrypto.org/wiki/Asset_Exchange

Assets aren't mineable, but you can create a mineable currency using the NXT Monetary System:
https://wiki.nxtcrypto.org/wiki/Monetary_System

Check out www.nxtforum.org for further info or questions.

I was waiting for MarineCoin to raise its ugly (99% pre-mined and in the hands of the dev) head. Grin

The OP could always use EvilCoin......I've got pretty much 100% of those. Market cap is around the million $ point, so if the OP would like to roll 4,000 BTC my way, he can have the lot.

The sane explanation for EvilCoin: I created a vanity asset on Horizon, issued 10 million, set a sell price at 625 HZ/EvilCoin, and voila !
Instant million dollar market cap........it really is that easy.
But don't buy any of it, ffs

If the OP simply needs a token for his casinos internal operations....take a look at the NXT Asset Exchange or Monetary System. This is what they were designed for.
(or if you want to be cheap like me, use Horizon, which is an less advanced NXT clone)

Time for a quick update:

In the last couple of hours, we've seen 2 new trades on Banx.io:

83422   Buy   0.00671000   104.00000000   0.69784000   Jun 18, 2015 10:03 PM

Call it 1.7 BTC on those two trades, $ 425

And on CMC:
http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/banxshares/#markets

The 24 hour trade volume has risen to $16,940, a jump of $1500Cheesy
Curiouser and curiouser.

Just for a laugh, decided to run the numbers.

Being too lazy to get the calculator out, I estimate total BANX trading on Banx.io at around 13 BTC / $3250 over the last 24 hours.
CMC shows 62 BTC / $15,500:

Er....anyone got a sane explanation ?

How about most of them are HODLers in the underlying asset so they can get a piece of its profits instead of a piece of its appreciation?  Such assets don't trade that much, especially if they belong to private shareholders of a real company.

Again, expand your thinking about the kinds of things transparent ledger technology is good for.

That doesn't make any sense, Stan, and isn't even on-topic.

The point is : CMC shows $15,000 traded in 24 hours on Banx.io, but Banx.io shows slightly over $3000 traded in the same period.
Cynical people (like myself) would assume that this is some form of market manipulation, but I'm open to other explanations.

They're old concepts, Stan.

NXT got there a long time before you, as you well know.
But imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so thanks, mate!
