1421  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: Bitcoin 2014 in Amsterdam on: May 10, 2014, 05:32:28 PM
+1 to NewLiberty...I live in North-Amsterdam (Noord) and can totally recommend it...anyone want to buy a Russian submarine?

You will need a bicycle, but there are a 1000 bike rental places.
1422  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: Bitcoin 2014 in Amsterdam on: May 10, 2014, 01:48:45 AM
if you still want tickets, use promotional code BitLendingVIP for 25% off registration

Thanks for the info!

Its not too early to book your hotel/apartment, though.

ITA! Can you recommend me a good and cheap hotel?

There are some great AirBnB deals still.
I've just done a round on most of A'dams cheap but not horrible hotels.....they're full.
Your best bet now is going to be AirBnb or 9flats.....
1423  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Did Cryptsy take My Coin? Am I screwed? on: May 07, 2014, 11:05:32 AM
Like the above: just give them some time.
I've had a 10,000 NXT deposit sit in limbo for 5 days before it finally turned up.
Keep on communicating with Cryptsy support, make sure that it has been escalated to their second line support desk, but don't expect much communication from them : they only posted my issue as resolved 36 hours after the missing NXT turned up.

Good luck....

1424  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: Bitcoin 2014 in Amsterdam on: May 06, 2014, 09:49:18 PM
Its not too early to book your hotel/apartment, though.
I keep banging on about it, but the city is filling up FAST.
If u don't want to sleep in a park....book now!

On tickets: there are still tickets available.
And if you want to get in for free, there may still be volunteers needed.
(Free reg, in exchange for 10-15 hours light work)

Any questions, feel free to PM me.
1425  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Official "PRISMicide for Bitcoin" Thread - open source smart card wallet (video) on: May 06, 2014, 09:42:06 PM
PRISMIcide guys:

I'm one of the organisers for NXT and we're going to be neighbours at Bitcoin2014,
Just wanted to say 'Howdy, neighbour' and introduce myself.

We're also going to be running a RasberryPi demo rig, tho' ours is a solar powered NXT-forging node. The more time I spend with RaspPi, the more I love them.

I'm a resident of Amsterdam, and am also on the conference volunteer crew, so if you have any questions or need some help, feel free to PM me.

Heres our conference thread on the NXT forum:
https://nxtforum.org/nxt-promotion/bitcoin2014-btc-foundation-conference-amsterdam-may-15-17/

Only suggestion I have for you right now is: get accomodation booked up NOW.
Hotels are filling up fast, and you might need to go to www.9flats.com or www.airbnb.nl to find something.

How do I blacklist the peers in the new client (Wesley's)?

You have to edit the file nxt-default.properties

# Known bad peers to be blacklisted
nxt.knownBlacklistedPeers=

Here you have to fill in the IP's of the nodes that you want to blacklist.

I never blacklisted a node so I hope this is the right way to do it  Wink

Quick point:
Its better not to edit nxt-default.properties. Create a new file called nxt.properties and then copy the lines that you wish to change over from nxt-default.properties.
On initialisation the values from nxt.properties will overwrite the same values from nxt-default.
This also means that when you upgrade, the nxt.properties file will not be overwritten by a new version, while nxt-default.properties will.

Heres my nxt.properties file:

*************************************
nxt.myAddress=EvilWorld

nxt.myPlatform=EvilPC

nxt.myHallmark=

nxt.allowedBotHosts=0.0.0.0

nxt.apiServerHost=0.0.0.0

nxt.apiResourceBase=C:/nxt/html/tools

nxt.javadocResourceBase=C:/nxt/html/doc

nxt.enableUIServer=true

nxt.allowedUserHosts=*

nxt.uiServerHost=0.0.0.0

nxt.uiResourceBase=C:/nxt/html/nrs
***************************************

This is mentioned in the release notes somewhere.....

Time for a block check!!

It looks like the fork promised at 130,000 blocks is happening, with all versions of NRS older than 1.0 heading off into the abyss.
I've checked 4 nodes and this is the correct chain:

130193      4747512364439223888      dinsdag 6 mei 2014 12:00:59

      4      2 + 4      568 B

      2      13532004242576828706      375 %

If you are not seeing this, you are forked. Upgrade or take your node down now please.
1428  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOINPLUS??? on: May 03, 2014, 11:03:47 PM
The fact that they can't even get a site up should be a big enough warning....

deader than my grandma.

is a good, though slightly outdated, explanation.

LAX: squirting the future.

U could have put around 30 seconds more thought into that name, Jerry.
1431  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: May 03, 2014, 07:58:41 PM
IRC has its ups and downs, a lot of discussion happens on Skype groups/PM as well as the fora.
Like salsacz said, l8orre would also be a good guy to track down as a first point of contact.

Welcome to decentralisation central, have fun!
1432  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: May 03, 2014, 07:31:06 PM
bluemeanie:

welcome on board, mate.
We like Java devs, btw.  Cool

Best way to find a good slot to work in would be to head on over to our main forum:
https://nxtforum.org/index.php

Good guys to get in touch with would be Jean-Luc (chief dev right now) and the boys on the Technical Development committee:
https://nxtforum.org/technical-development-committee/so-who-is-on-the-nxt-techdev-committee/

Good luck
1433  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: May 03, 2014, 12:56:40 AM
I know, but I think that we should request their e-mail. Of couse there is absolutely no guarantee that they'll hand it over, but I think we should at least try to get as many as possible to sign up for a "update list" so we don't have to gamble that they'll visit the forum and see that it needs to be done.

I cannot agree more with you. But how? Cheesy

We cannot request the email because we have no email of them. I wrote to http://nxtdb.info/. But many others do not even have such site. Just a domain. :/

WHOIS result for nxtdb.info gives:
skor2k@gmail.com
as the registrant.

Makes it even easier....

I'm off to bed, I havent contacted the above 2 examples.
1434  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: May 03, 2014, 12:48:52 AM
Quick suggestion on the old NRS nodes/hardfork at 130,000 problem:

Someone (not me) runs the IPs thru WHOIS, and comes up with an e-mail address for the admin of that IP.
Send the admin a mail explaining the situation (stress that the fork could lead to people losing money...slight stretch, but not a complete lie) and ask them to forward the mail to their customer.
This will be harder for nodes on dynamic IPs, but if u specify the correct (GMT) time as well as IP, it should be doable. Fixed IPs will be fairly easy to reach this way, i hope.

Example:

From my active peers, 81.82.248.205 is running 8.12.
81.82.248.205 in WHOIS comes out as:

IP Location:    Belgium Belgium Mechelen Telenet Operaties N.v.
ASN:    Belgium AS6848 TELENET-AS Telenet N.V.,BE (registered Nov 29, 1996)

remarks:        trouble:      IMPORTANT: To report intrusion attempts, hacking,

remarks:        trouble:      IMPORTANT: by a Telenet/Pandora customer, please

Drop the mail to the 'abuse' address, should reach their customer fairly quickly.

This is gonna be a lot of boring work, and there are only 3 days to go.....

Luckily, i'm on holiday. Discuss this among yourselves, decide if it's worth doing and, if so, get cracking on it.
1435  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: May 03, 2014, 12:00:04 AM
Okay. Let us stop here. I think you made your points. We will never know what is true or false. But it does not matter anyway.

Let us resolve the issue at hand:

@Uniqueorn
Handle that CEO carefully and efficiently. No need to waste his time.

@Salsacz
Back off this time. I am under the impression you got a lot of other work at your hand.

Much +1.

We need to be professional here.....this is serious biz, not a bloody schoolyard
(And just like a teacher, I don't care who started it)

Unique: If u have serious issues with the MC, just keep at least a couple of sane guys in the loop. Don't try to wing it on your own completely. We are meant to be a team, more or less.
1436  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: May 02, 2014, 11:53:32 PM

Cheesy

Onwards and sideways:

Like the graphic, like the text.
The future is NXT works better than Your future is NXT
and i've always liked You decide

Cheap needs to go, it has the association in US/British English of being very low end, the bottom of the market
I would use Efficient in the place of cheap,but it's already up there....any suggestions, guys?

And I'd like to see NXT:Love your money on a graphic......might do something when I get back from me holiday.
1437  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: May 02, 2014, 11:41:46 PM
ffs.....Salsacz and Uniqueorn, wtf r u 2 doing ?

This could be a serious break for NXT, maybe the foot in the door that we need to go mainstream, and u 2 are having a pissing contest over it ?

I know I'm not the f**king boss of u guys, and I know you have problems working together on pretty much anything, but my suggestion is:

Unique...take point on Overstock, be the main contact, but keep Salsa (and maybe the rest of the MC) in the loop, cc all mails etc on to them. Dont make too many promises without solid backup on them.

Salsa....could u back off a bit and keep an eye on how Unique handles the contact ?

We really don't need 2 competing contacts for a CEO's attention....you'll just piss him off.

1438  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT coin - A total scam? on: April 28, 2014, 11:55:08 PM
well lease forging will be coming up soon .... so your 20k nxt can now earn you 0.00001 nxt.
I won't be sure what to do with all that money afterwards.  Roll Eyes

Not a private island in the Maldives, then ?

(BTW, not sure you should write Maidsafe off because of a slightly dodgy IPO. I'm not an MS fan at all, and I see a couple of big issues with it, but ignoring it because of the crypto worlds current obsession with 'fair' distribution might be a mistake)
Stolen coins from Gox going into one of their (related) addresses, makes me even more sure about them.
Yeah,+1.
My position on MS has hardened since the above post, i wouldn't go near it now even with gloves on.
1439  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why is NXT dead? on: April 28, 2014, 08:40:53 PM
Yay Polycoin....his saccharine sentiments have elucidated a effluvious bowel evacuation from the undersigned.

interested...scam....interested....scam....interested....scam....interested.... scam

There, saved a lot of time for some people.

Nice work boys, But I don't really like the self-moderatedness.
Is there a policy for what gets deleted ?
Much as I like NXT (frothing at the mouth believer that i am) I don't want to see this thread just be an uncomplaining cheerleader for NXT.
Criticism does help to keep you sharp and on point, now where the f is Elmo?
