481  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PRE-ICO] Graft - credit card and crypto payment processing network on: December 26, 2017, 09:44:06 PM
Guys, the card will work for the inhabitants of the non-European Union. And now now All projects with cards "Only for residents of the European Union". This is very distressing. The Graft has a situation?
It will really be hard to get an headway for this because it really goes beyond Graft or any other card services being launched and I think its better to have told every one rather than giving false hope which would then be interpreted as misrepresentation and deceit. I hope if the situation improves, something can still be done in that regard.
482  Economy / Economics / Re: If You Hate Poverty, You Should Love Capitalism on: December 26, 2017, 09:35:21 PM
Poverty is bad and serious poverty is terrible. There are many ways in which to reduce poverty, eliminating poverty is near impossible. Capitalism, socialism and any other political beliefs are capable of reducing poverty when implemented correctly. Will be nice to read the views and replies of others to this thread.

Any economic or political system cannot singlehandedly end poverty its the combination of several factors and most importantly the individual in the poor scenario. While socialism to a large extent could encourage laziness among the citizenry, capitalism on the  other hand can ensure that the common wealth is unevenly distributed which is even worse on its own but would go a long way in encouraging human intelligence and that its a key way out of poverty.
483  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: advice on trading on: December 26, 2017, 08:38:22 PM
hello!

i have learned the basics of what are cryptocurrencies and now i wonder how to begin trading to multiply my money. do you have any favorite sites on where you trade? which advice would you have for a beginner like me?

The basics that you have learned will give you heads up but going through the path of multiplying your money might not be the right way to go for a start as you are just starting small and that does not guarantee double. So what you need to do is take it slow and gradual. There are tons of sites you can trade but be sure to do your checks on which one you would prefer because depending on your need, you might want to visit some specific sites as it relates to service discussion. Exchange section of the forum would help you out.
484  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Proof of BTC credit to an Exchange wallet. on: December 26, 2017, 07:34:33 PM
If I send BTC to a BTC address provided by my exchange (say Bitstamp), and for some reason the BTC is not received, or at some point the Exchange claims this transaction didnt happen. How can I show that the address I sent the BTC to BELONGS to the Exchange? Do exchanges post a list of addresses used by them? Obviously a screenshot is not proof enough that a BTC address was in fact provided by the exchange to credit my account.
thanks,

It simple, the way the blockchain is designed there is transparency. The only thing I think can suffice in this case is you having a screenshot of where the address is generated and your transaction ID which can be verified by anybody. There is a slight chance that in the process of copying and pasting, you might sent to another address but aside that, if the fund is confirmed it will be there all you need to prove is that the address you sent it to, was generated from them.
485  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Thoughts on Crypto Lending on: December 26, 2017, 05:32:03 PM
I just noticed a few sites that offer services of Crypto lending
eg
Bitconex

etc
thoughts on these services? anyone use? sketchy? scams? thanks

You know what, someone telling you what could be wrong with crypto lending would mean someone else making the decision on your behalf rather you could just use Google to know more on the various crypto lending platforms that have been in existence in the past, and how far they have fared from there you can then make a decision whether to invest in something like that, or even decide to start such a platform. Wish you all the best in that.
486  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NEW YORK COIN on: December 26, 2017, 04:27:22 PM
What do you guys think?

I just got 500k coins for like 60$. Worthy risk forsure, is there any potential for growth? I really like how hey are trying to push it to retail stores and ATMs but it feels a little like a fake push, meaning, doesn’t have strong support or tech. Also, I think they’ve “restarted” twice.

500,000 for 60$, I wonder total amount in supply of that particular coin. What I would like to ask, is what due diligence have you done to arrive at that point to make such an amount of investment. The 60$ is not much but the volume is something of concern which might be difficult to offload especially for a coin without the market already and the potential for it to reach a new height might be tough if its not deleted from exchange sites before reaching maturity.
487  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Possible 100x coin? on: December 25, 2017, 09:32:49 PM
XSPEC is a seriously undervalued coin with a low supply and amazing privacy. This coin uses Ring signatures and OBFS4+TOR.
This is the hidden gem of 2018..

Every great project that have been launched have the potential to go 100x the problem is when? A lot of factors would be responsible to ensure that the potential is reached in due time and that would revolves around the resolution of the developers in ensuring maximum support is being given to the coin and more importantly its a workable project but truth be told 100x returns is a whole lot to accomplish within reasonable time.
488  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitconnect and Regalcoin are dead? on: December 25, 2017, 08:45:19 PM
I've just checked the market recently, and it feels like I didn't regret about not investing to Bitconnect and Regalcoin.

As of today, Bitconnect got down by 50% from $440+ to $220+ and Regalcoin from $75+ to $4+. Maybe lending type coins are not going to last long, especially that Bitconnect was criticized as a ponzi and they have been threatened by UK to shut down their services early January.

Are they really dead now guys?

If its all about the drop in price that is being witnessed for you to determine whether those coins are dead, then I would say maybe bitcoin is dead too and all other coins that have shown a downward price in the past couple of days. In the case of bitconnect, the possibility of it crashing is kind of high considering the negative publicity that surrounds it and the UK threat you made reference to in determining the future of this coin.
489  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Charity giant Pineapple Fund announces they will no longer support Bitcoin Core on: December 25, 2017, 07:54:17 PM
https://www.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/7lnu9w/pineapple_fund_update_homes_in_haiti_education/?st=jbmj0xiz&sh=1a425cb9

I absolutely agree with them.

This is the second charity in two days I've seen moving away from Bitcoin Core... The idea that these outrageous fees only run off small people is absolutely wrong.

Pale Moon announce they are dropping cryptocurrency as well.  https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?t=17826

I expect we see a lot of services stop accepting Bitcoin Core in the very near future.

At a point, I expect things like this to happen because of the high transaction fees that we have come to witness and that would affect the inflow of resources coming to charity organization like the one Op is quoting but I still know that its not going to be permanent. It will pass if not go down completely, but largely to a bearable level which is all that matter and everything will be back to normal. The bitcoin core developers just need to do something rather than pushing the blame to someone else.
490  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoincash now is 3rd in CMC do you guys BCH can overtake bitcoin in future? on: December 25, 2017, 03:38:07 PM
As i see bitcoincash was very fast and reach to the 3rd place in coinmarketcap in just only a few months do you guys think that bitcoincash can overtake bitcoin in the future? How long do you think?

It's something to behold for BCH to have reached an height that it took not a small journey for bitcoin to reach but the truth is that the ground work was done for it by bitcoin. Whether it will take over by bitcoin or not, the future will be the determining factor and the entire community. The moment bitcoin is able to resolve the issue of long confirmation time, I am sure it will be more difficult for bch to take over.

492  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The whales are cashing out on: December 24, 2017, 05:41:28 PM
The extreme escalation in transaction times is there to ensure the whales can cash out but that smaller investors cannot.

Whales can make large transactions, the fees do not mean as much to them.

At the same time the small investors cannot cash out because their investment is quite small compared to the fees.

The result is the following:

- Whales are cashing out, converting to fiat
- Newbies are buying from the whales in the hope of continues increases
- Existing smaller investors do not want to sell now (despite possible large profits) because of the high fees is you only have a small investment (Today another bitcoiner on this forum has to pay a 20$ fee for a 50$ transaction).

When the whales have completed the sell-off, smaller bitcoin investors can finally begin to sell and that will be the trigger for a complete collapse in the price.

When price is going down, you blame the whales when its rising, you even blame the whales the more thinking that they are not human beings. if truly they are cashing out now, then its a way for you as a small time investor to even cash out because the market is free for everyone to participate whether big or small. Just do your calculations right and be part of the whales by buying when the price is low.
493  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why rich people with a lot of Bitcoin don't try to improve it? on: December 24, 2017, 05:13:07 PM
I mean, they are so rich, they can start to mine Bitcoin, even if they lose some money they shouldn't care, they are ok with all those money they already have.
Am I wrong?
If you became rich and you are doing the dream life that everyone wants is thanks to Bitcoin, don't let him die.

Bitcoin is not dieing at least not today. What is being faced now, are just challenges that I.believe would pass just for the core.developers to do something about it and we are good again. The reason for the increased hostilities.towards bitcoin is.largely due to the increase in the price of the forked version of bitcoin which I don't see as the lasting solution to the continued over bloating of the network just for us to keep up the faith.
494  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Blackout - No transactions on Christmas Eve! on: December 24, 2017, 04:24:31 PM
People won't stop sending transaction mostly due to decreasing Bitcoin value. After a while of thinking, I decided not to sell my BTC because of expensive and slow transactions. Bitcoin price should be back to normal soon. As far as I remember, Bitcoin value vastly decreased in September. It took 2 weeks before Bitcoin price was back to normal. What a shame that many exchanges still don't support SegWit, it could help a little. I hope that Lightning Network will be introduced soon, I have used in on the testnet and it worked great.

If this is implemented, its going to do a whole lot of good at this time where a lot of people are beginning to lose faith in the whole bitcoin while jumping to the next available coin. I can't imagine someone sending an amount in which the transaction fee is even higher than the amount sent. I have a feeling op is only making jest of the current situation to have said bitcoin needs to catch up and if the core developers wants to still save what we have left, now is the time to do that.
495  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Bitcoin now the biggest bubble of all time? on: December 24, 2017, 04:11:33 PM
A lot of time we interpret something that would be better in the long term as this. Even at the current price which is a free fall from the highest level we have witnessed, but its still a far ahead than where we were few months ago. This is actually a good thing for bitcoin. A lot of people will see this as a way to mock bitcoin holders or even people involved telling them "I said so" but its going to be short lived as we are going to be back stonger.
496  Economy / Economics / Re: High prices mean even higher volatility on: December 24, 2017, 04:08:08 PM
If you watched the charts i'm sure you've noticed that the jump between 17 and 20K USD was on low volume. The price was never really there. If you don't get it i'll explain.
If you have very little orders on exchanges and not many people willing to sell at given prices you can put up a buy order of 1 BTC and move the price up by 100 USD, simply because there are no orders at certain price range. People saw a very fast increase and set up for sale at the level of $20k with very little orders between 100 and 20. So the price  went there in numbers but only a very small group of people did the trading. If that happens you usually also need a very small amount of coins to push the price down and this is exactly what happened. The real trading starts much lower and you can see it's taking more and more time to push the price through the support levels. Every $1000 down takes much more time than it did to dump the first 3k. It's all normal, but you see it like something huge and keep asking "damn it went down by $5k already what's going on?"

Thank you for this subtle analysis which is exactly the way we just need to start seeing things when the price just went on the increase within a few days a lot of people wanted answers but still don't want the right answers. Its all about the forces of demand and supply rather than blaming the whales for everything. The price tanked, a lot of people panicked, which then led to a further crash of price now we can have something to talk about than the issues of fees.
497  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If the bitcoin holder dies on: December 24, 2017, 11:45:39 AM
If the btc holder dies without passing any information about their btc to the nearest family member all the btc will stay as unused as a frozen coin.Unless a hacker hack in a steal the coins it remains as it is.If you want your family to enjoy the profit even after you pass away it is better you pass your private key information to someone you trust from your family so that they can use it even after you are gone.Or maintain the records in your safe locker for your family to use.

I don't even understand the whole controversy in the issue of someone dies with btc. Of course nothing will happen. Its just like a normal human being who kept his fund in a hole that is only known to him then he dies, nothing will happen to the money other than it rusting away but in the case of bitcoin, we see its in the wallet, but no one can access it. Just as simple as that.
498  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: The First DPOS Lightning Bitcoin Hard Fork is on the Way on: December 24, 2017, 11:43:51 AM
Here we go again with another forked coin, the next one would be about thunder rather than lightening with about seven line up to happen before the end of January this is also adding to the list. I think this is just as a result of the difficulty most developers are having with running a successful ICO and they see forks as another avenue to still achieve that objective of just coming to disrupt the market with forks all over the place.
499  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what will happen if miners stop mining bitcoin? on: December 24, 2017, 06:54:58 AM
I don't see any problem if they stop mining because this is eventually what will happen when the whole 21million is fully mined. But what is key is if the transactions are allowed to confirm when initiated the moment that is done, we are good and comfortable in my opinion but others could express more fear than this as to the important role miners play in the scheme of events as it relates to bitcoin and blocks confirmation or mining.
500  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will this affect sports gambling ? on: December 24, 2017, 06:31:24 AM
For the football fans, especially those who play sports gambling, In your opinion : what has happeed  last summer in the transfer window and the price explosion of players. We witnessd, and for the first time in history, a transfer cost more than 200 000 000 euro !  That transfer affected  the price even of normal players, like Romelu lukaku who left for Man united for 100 000 000 euro. Do you think all that will have a good or bad result on gambling ?

Football is a game of teams and collaboration one man does not make the team for no matter his ability and agility. So, I don't see the market value of one player affecting the team and more so the entire value of whether 200,000,000 does not even go into the pocket of the player neither that is what he will be collecting every week. At some point players will realize that getting to the pitch and playing in front of the several fans spread across the world is more important than the money.
