Way back then there was this coin called communitycoin. They've distributed them all to users here, each stake was around ~1btc.
Besides that, I've got COSS. Bought from .15 now its almost $1.

Still, now I have never booked loss in crypto trading. Just I wait for the period of time till my original value comes in terms of dollar value. Whether I would lost in Bitcoin but I always check the value in terms of dollar and when it comes again or surpasses with minimum profit then I exit from that coin.
The best way to deal with a loss? IMO just move on and diversify. There's nothing wrong with failing and losing money.

If I missed both the pre-sale and ICO, but they haven't listed on an exchange yet, is there anyway to buy the tokens? Also, is there a way to check the price or value without that exchange? TIA!
In this case, it is very advantageous to buy tokens as soon as they begin to trade on the exchange and after that fall in price. Sometimes in this case, tokens become cheaper tens of times compared to the price of ICO. This is a very convenient time for investment. Have you tried contacting the team or voicing your concerns thru Telegram or something? I remember sometimes they do give away special bonuses and /or discounts for those who contact them.

That would be the case if coin adoption would be not just.for speculators but for real users too, something unlikely happen at.this time

Go check out CrowdGenie's ICO, it's a Singaporean company that aims to putforward the blockchain and smart contracts tech into p2p lending.
They've got a working platform already btw.

Binance coin, BNB too is a sure shot option for profit as they are increasing in price after every burn and the coins are getting limited.
You know what, if Binance just did profit sharing with their coin, it would've been a massive success. With their volumes, they're gonna attract huge investments.

Hello,
I have a programming background, but I'm relatively new to crypto/stocks.
Hi! Welcome to the forum and to the crypto world as well. What would be some key metrics/performance indicated to calculate a coins growth potential for the future?
There's no specific key metrics to calculate the grow of any coin in the future. By doing this assumption you will most likely fall into speculations, most of those statements that are published are base on how those experts predicted the growth of bitcoin and it's like an intelligent guess. I may build a web app w/ API's to do some calculations.
Just like btnt8888 said you can use its market cap, total supply and add also your analysis. Thank you for the warm welcome. Yes, I started to build something and wrote a little script that calculates my own formula on what coins may be undervalued...but again this is with limited knowledge on the cryptosphere. I would love to see what kind of considerations go into analysis for professionals. If it's the social activity you could pull that data, if its github commits, you could pull that data as well. I would only use this for analysis to then look deeper into the projects on usage case basis. Actually social metrics and mentions is a good place to start. You can also include exchange data such as the trade volume and activity, not just the marketcap.

2 hours of green today and then red again. You do not know what in 12 hours...
Don't watch your folio now. Try to find your own strategy for such periods of market stagnation. If you want to be long term in crypto - you have to use to such situations. My current strategy is to keep ETH and only very good infrastructure coins. Unfortunately today we have very hard market situation. Perhaps I also will invest in some ICOs that solve real world problems. Or you can sit back and play your favorite game. Nothing comes good worrying about cryptoprices all the time. Just find something productive to do.

Would be really helpful if there's a udemy course about this, but there isn't.
Anyone know something of the like?

Crypto trading is more risky than stock trading but I believe that the more risky is higher the gain.
Actually, the risks are the same. You can lose all of your money. The difference lies mainly on the volatility. Stocks are solid, they don't go wild like what crypto does.

May-june 2018 i guess. We will see new record of BTC price (~25k), and hype aroung cryptocurrencies again. April to May this year I think is the soonest. That is, if no major hacks happened yet again and the BitFinex Tether issue has been resolved already.

I'm developing an altcoin that is based on social sharing. What foundational technologies are going to make it the most valuable? What makes an altcoin valuable? I'm wondering if it is just how much people hear about it? Thoughts?
altcoin can become valuable if it have new concept that will solved some problem easy to use that can make life easier. Well, those concepts you've enumerated are the ideal stuff every product tries to achieve, be it crypto or not. IMO what makes tokens valuable? The amount of work poured into it. Just look at Dash and ETH.

I honestly don't see the current movement as an opportunity just yet since price just bounces a bit and falls down even harder. This indicates a dead cat bounce or bull trap.
It's an opportunity to get into the market for cheaper coins. The barrier to invest now is at the lowest for like 3 months.

Dont look prices of the market. Its will be recover in short term. People need to be patient about market. Who selling their coins , they will be regret of that. Just wait and see green prices.
These times are gonna test your discipline and strength. Hold it out and be patient. In a few weeks time, it'll all resolve IMO. There's no need to be worried.

In such moments I like to open cryptofeels.net and watch all that red (and few green) charts flying around with "after-death music" background, try it This one relax me somehow. And what do you do during dumps? Do you continue to trade or take pause? Me, when I've got a pending trade that didn't get filled because of crashing prices, I just wait it out. Losses aren't realized up until you sell at a losing price.

The money invested in the ETH will make a circle and again become money. Through IСO, you put them into the project to make money and you will get your money back.
It's what everyone does and is not specifically only for ETH. IMO, a larger price correction is due, we've been hitting bull records over the past few weeks it's time for the bear to strike already.

I think this is often the case every increase there must be a decrease in price. At the end of last year has increased very much and now all crypto coin price in trend falling down because some issue about ban crypto so this is normal. Maybe next month the market price will increase again.
That's the best case scenario, when governments recognize that crypto is gonna be part of the internet as a whole. Worst case? We see more bans, resulting to further and deeper crash.

I am also a full-time crypto trader and it's very hard for giving time to everything because trading required all the focus and it diverts our mind from everything. But I always make myself relax give time to everything. I also give time to my family and also do trading and I am happy with it. I am successfully doing it...
Well you're doing it right I suppose. I never liked trading full time, it sucks energy and is always stressful emotionally. I can never live with that. Long term holding is much more bearable.

Now that the price of the ethereum has fallen to $ 850, it has become even more attractive for investment. In my opinion ethereum is one of the most attractive coins for long-term investments. With the amount of ongoing and upcoming ICOs, the demand is there and would continually be rising. This is more likely of a panic correction, it'll stabilize soon IMO.
