521  Economy / Exchanges / Re: 2FA athenticator on: December 17, 2017, 09:35:04 PM
I was using Google Authenticator as an extension on Chrome but is now not working. I have key and password but I am not being asked for it.
Why not just settle with the mobile version of Google authenticator because I have been using that, and I have not had any issue whatsoever. You install it afresh and everything should be back to normal. Before I was using the mobile messages via service providers but because the block such messages from entering my mobile phone, I had to choose Google authenticator which has proven to be a handy tool for a while. I have not used the extension version of it.
522  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: why are developers not increasing blocksize ? on: December 17, 2017, 09:30:32 PM
i mean ,current unconfirmed count is 150k and its stable at that point , means new high fees tx are only getting mined.

amd network is very slow and congested., it take around 30-40 minutes to get 4-6 confirmations for single tx having 420 sats / byte fees. and its very high fee.

why not increase blocksize , and allow more tx to fit in a single block, and make it quicker to send btc like it was before.

its really pain in the ass, sending btc from one place to another and this another place requires 6 confirmations to verify the payment.,
and it takes around 40- 45 minutes sometimes 60 minutes for tx to show on .

bitcoin is already popular and new people are jumping in to it..,

so tx count / second is gonna increase, eventually, why not get ready for it ?

who decides what will be block size ?

code developers ?
consensus ?

will all miner's code needed to be modified ? even ASIC ?

The same thought came to me too but the earlier posts was about creating a new forked coin in other to get that to reality in the case of either SegWit or BCH but why cant they just increase bitcoin size itself instead if creating another coin. In the solution offered by BCH m, it then means we should abandon the bitcoin and focus on another coin but that is not solving the situation because if all the transactions move to BCH, sooner or  later, the entire blocksize would also be saturated and we would be faced by the same situation all over again.
523  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to claim BItcoin diamond and BTG?anyone help? on: December 17, 2017, 03:24:51 PM
I think you are not right. https://bcdwallet.org is real site and is not fake. You can follow to his twitter and make the free BCD with us. Stop spam please.
https://twitter.com/BITC0INDIAM0ND

EXCEPT... that the "OFFICIAL" twitter account as linked from the "OFFICIAL" bitcoin diamond page (http://btcd.io/) is "https://twitter.com/BitcoinDiamond_"  It doesn't have a bunch of zero's (0) in the twitter name like your FAKE twitter account... honestly, you think we're stupid or something? Huh Roll Eyes

That is an obvious FAKE twitter promoting an obviously FAKE SCAM wallet... your account and all your posts (and all your alt accounts) have been reported... have a great day! Cheesy

Even with all this fact staring the face of many, a lot of people would still fall victim of this kind of cheap scam that could have been avoided just by seeking the right information. Every time there is a new fork, people who have initially castigated the idea would be the ones eager to want to claim their own coin and because of the anxiousness, the scammers will capitalize on that as a means to get their victims. To those set of people, I am never sorry for them.
524  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Alternatives to Blockchain.info? on: December 17, 2017, 02:29:30 PM
Yes, I use multiple air gapped offline wallets, however, it's curious that there is no serious competition to Blockchain.info    Web wallets are useful for some situations where you don't want your real wallets anywhere near you.

Blockchain.info actually has the majority of users in the industry and its largely due to either the domain name or the time they have spent in the industry. But there are still several alternatives that are doing fine depending on which one you want to go with just do your review right and some exchange sites offer wallet services as well. BTC.com, Xapo, Coinomi, etc. Web wallets are very useful in case you want to quickly do some transaction but just as a precaution is not to keep the bulk of your funds there since you are not using everything at once
525  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are you sure that bitcoin will fall? on: December 17, 2017, 10:16:43 AM
Bitcoin price will fall, thats is a fundamental thing that would happen getting prepared for it is what matters and what quite a number of people don't want to get as they are used to the ever increasing price. However, fall in price as I have expounded is not the same thing as price crashing which would mean a lot of loss of confidence but still it will go back to recovering which is what it has always done.
526  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bittrex 0.001 btc withdraw fee -- about 19 usd on: December 17, 2017, 07:33:46 AM
I withdraw 0.3 btc from bittrex and I noticed the withdraw fee is 0.001 btc. It is about 19 usd.

the withdraw fee is expensive now.

Yes its expensive because you are valuing in based on the USD equivalent value but in that same vein transferring $5700 and paying $19 as fees is really still bearable to me as that is even .3% of what you are withdrawing. Which means it will still fall further if you increase the amount you want to withdraw since the fee is a fixed rate. We just have to do away with small payments this time.
527  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Kraken deposits and withdrawals disabled? on: December 15, 2017, 07:43:01 PM
they also sent me an email with a photo of their installation to tell me that they were running with a team reduced because of the end of the year holidays and had problems of materials but they worked hard to solve the problems.
so i'm reassured

Is that even an excuse. They know that the market they operate does not take holiday 24/7 all through the year whether holiday or not, it does not stop anything so if they know they employees are on holiday, they should put out a statement to that effect earlier and not wait for someone to suffer for that inefficiencies before stating the reason why or they better emply adhoc staff I am sure a lot of people would forgo the holiday if it would get them some extra cash.
528  Economy / Exchanges / Re: My experience with HitBTC on: December 15, 2017, 03:30:11 PM
At the end the wait eventually paid off which is something to be happy about. Recently, HiBTC has been in the news and it has been for a bad reason or negative comments. I use HiBTC and I have not had any issues but for things like this to be coming up here and there means they really need to up their game and ensure customers satisfaction which is the sole aim of every business that is trying to register itself in the mind of participants in the market.
529  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Most Secured Crypto Exchange on: December 13, 2017, 10:12:04 AM
Hi all,

I heard few exchanges were hacked and few were dissapered with the coins in past.

What are they??

What are the most secured exchange or Wallet in the world now??

All exchange site are safe until the day they are being hacked and because you wont be notified when that is about to go down, that is why its advisable to always be prepared by only moving the funds there for trading and not to make it as a wallet because doing that would mean you are making yourself vulnerable to lose that funds to the 'safest' exchange site. The moment you are done trading, move your funds offline and don't mind the fee because that is what a lot of people use as an excuse to keep their funds on exchange sites and then lose everything.
530  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bittrex Customers Locked Out on: December 13, 2017, 07:04:45 AM
Bittrex users took to social media to voice their concerns: something is wrong at the third largest cryptocurrency exchange in the world. Customers openly complain they’re having issues with withdrawals, and this has been going on for weeks.
https://news.bitcoin.com/bittrex-customers-locked-out-are-crypto-exchanges-ready-for-bitcoin/
 Roll Eyes

I am beginning to have another thought about this Bittrex because it seems is just beyond all this verification and the likes that they have been using as an excuse to deny people access to their funds. It is expected in sane places that if you are denying someone your service, they are allowed to withdraw their funds and take it elsewhere within reasonable time but Bittrex is just doing otherwise. Yet you get emails from them claiming they are one on the right side of events.
531  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Looking for an exchange that does not take a year for verification on: December 13, 2017, 06:46:58 AM
Kraken's verification is disabled Sad

I have applied to:

Bitfinex
Bitstamp
Coinsbank
Coinfloor
DSX

TheRock trading sign up is also disabled!

Are there any reps on here that might be able to help?
.

If your objective is mainly to be able to do fiat to crypto, I doubt if there is a wat around verification you just have to do it but if its mainly crypto then you can get sites like livecoin, HiBtc but you need to do your research on their specific terms before going fully into them though. Another option pending the time your verification would be completed you can settle the crypto part and find a way to concert to fiat in your locality depending the situation of things over there.
532  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have You Been Scammed? on: December 13, 2017, 06:32:02 AM
I have been scammed before and that was when I was still innocent and giving my trust freely but one individual took advantage of it and scammed me of my bitcoin in the process of exchanging it to fiat which is something I would not do again or give the trust so cheap like that again. Sometimes I wonder how the only thing someone can think of is making someone lose their resources and still baffles me how they were able to sleep with that.
533  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ☠☠☠ Will High Transaction Fees Be The Downfall Of Bitcoin? ☠☠☠ on: December 13, 2017, 05:46:40 AM
Its very expensive really that one need to pay $14 for a $134 transaction is surely on the high side which have deviated completely from the bitcoin we knew at some point where with few dollars or even cents, you can get the transaction done in due time. But I don't see it being the cause of the downfall of bitcoin because to me, bitcoin has grown to a point where the disadvantages is being overlooked by many by focusing on the positive sides hoping that things will get better.
534  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum wallet virus on: December 13, 2017, 05:02:56 AM
Hello everybody! I was just getting ready to start my experience with bitcoin and as many recommended, I downloaded Electrum for windows 10 from the official site but as the download finished, windows defender has found a virus, a trojan and deleted it automatically. This seems a bit strange because I've seen many people talking about this wallet positively, could you tell me if you get the same result? I plan to buy soon from Coinbase, what wallet for desktop should I get instead of Electrum? Please let me know, thank you very much!

Since you have said it's from the official site, then its to be sure its really from the official site. If its there, then there is nothing to worry about. A lot of people uses this software and it is yet to fail which its expected to stay that way. I have downloaded it but on Windows 8.1 which I haven't had any issue whatsoever even with a very strong anti virus until I discontinue its use. Just go trace the source, validate it, then make exception for your antivirus or better still download the android version.
535  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Localbitcoins down December 12 on: December 13, 2017, 04:33:00 AM
I can't access my localbitcoins account, sever down, not even a single tweet. Even if I manage to get my bitcoins back, localbitcoins is history for me. Don't trust them anymore

It could be from your end at this time because I tried checking it out and it went freely without any issue. Try to wait a little and try again later. But for you to run to the forum and ask about  this shows how the volume of your bitcoin on that platform which has been said several times not to keep funds in places you don't own the private key and localbitcoin is one of them. What if you cant get access to the site again? You then shout scam even though its something you can avoid.
536  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Hot on: December 12, 2017, 09:40:32 PM
http://bithot.org/

what's this? What's up with ppl forking out non stop and ridiculous stuff like this?

i mean, it's around 200+ blocks away and their targetted 12-12-17 fork but they dont have wallet, mining pool or exchange confirmed.

what's wrong with this ppl? Angry

I don't even bother to check it out because I know they will claim to solve one particular issue which bitcoin has and I am beginning to think for every issue that bitcoin has, there will always be one forked coin created for that purpose and if that cannot be solved by one coin then we are looking at two or more coins coming with the solution. But in all, this is eventually turning into joke that we would even lost count of the amount of forked coin that we will have in one year which the possibility of stopping is not even in sight.
537  Economy / Exchanges / Re: I shared my id photos to cex.io and started paranoia on: December 12, 2017, 09:07:36 PM
Is it safe to share id informations to the exchange sites, is someone can do with these? I'm feeling like someone will use my id informations for the crimes at any moment. Can someone help me about this thought, i even can't sleep in peace now.

If you don't feel comfortable to do that then don't. The issue there is trust. If you want to open an account and they ask you for details or even a passport and you have to go to the extent of giving your biometric its because you trust that your information is safe which you will always have the option to not follow it through. So in this case you can try other site that does not require such information from you and you don't have anything to worry about.
538  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Is Bitcoin Forbidden In Islam? Why? on: December 12, 2017, 05:24:06 PM
There are several things that would have been illegal in several countries whether ruled by Islamic laws or western laws but today are legal and even in the future, I see severals becoming legal. We have Muslims who are gay today and even Christians that have their own version of the Bible that gave to accommodate their way of life. The point is today it might seems illegal but won't be for long as clerics will find a way to accommodate it within the Islamic laws.
539  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jesus' is 'really, really concerned' about the future of the digital currency on: December 12, 2017, 08:32:58 AM
'Bitcoin Jesus' is 'really, really concerned' about the future of the digital currency
Nicknamed "Bitcoin Jesus," Ver was an early proponent of bitcoin and bought $25,000 worth in 2011 that is now worth $425 million. However, in the debate over how to improve bitcoin's transaction speeds and costs this summer, Ver sided with a minority of developers behind an offshoot called "bitcoin cash."

"The fact of the matter is, the utility of bitcoin has been damaged," Ver said. "If you feel like you missed out on bitcoin back in 2011, take a look at bitcoin cash, give it a use. I think you'll be really, really impressed with the usefulness."

I was really carried away by the title but what I see here is Ver trying to continue his dominance in the crypto world because he was lucky to have been able to buy bitcoin at the time it was fresh so he thought he should advise same to bitcoin cash which I am sure he would have own as much as possible even more than the one he bought during the time of bitcoin. Anyways, anyone who is ready to risk it, should just go ahead.
540  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: An Ethereum hard fork looks likely to rescue millions locked in contracts on: December 12, 2017, 06:12:40 AM
About a month ago,  user “devops199”, triggered the flaw in the Parity Library code, apparently by accident. When they realised what they had done, they attempted to undo the damage by deleting the code which had transferred ownership of the funds. Rather than returning the money, however, that simply locked all the funds in those multisignature wallets permanently, with no way to access them.

Estimates of exactly how much of Ethereum's coins has been frozen vary widely. Low estimates put the figure at $150m but others suggest it could be as high as $300m. It is understood that a lot of the ICO project after 20th of July are impacted by this bug and have their funds frozen.

Parity has now sent out an update and propose options including hard fork to solve this issue and potentially similar contract issues in the future.

https://paritytech.io/blog/on-classes-of-stuck-ether-and-potential-solutions-2.html

Would you support such a hard fork?
I want to believe that any form of hardfork is just another creation of a coin and not in anyway going to solve a problem. Just like the way we were made to believe that bitcoin forks will the myriad of issues facing it but unfortunately, we are only deceived because in spite of the several forks that have happened, the issues still remains.  In other words, the way out of this issue is just to find another way to bring out the funds because even hardfork is just chance and not a certainty that the issue will be solved.
