541  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 50 GPU Mining Farm Earns Less Than $10 A Day - VoskCoin Mining Farm Profits on: September 06, 2018, 06:03:21 AM
1 Word.  ok its not even a word..  HODL.

I feel the pain on the gpu (and asic) farming, we need to make mining great again.

A year ago people said dont buy GPU/ASIC, take the money and invest it in the coin instead.  I didn't listen, I doubled down....

Well if you had followed that advice to take the same money instead of buying mining equipment, just buy coins at the prices a year ago --- you would of lost 60-70% of that investment.   At least putting it into mining hardware, you have some coin, some experience (that will help in some way some day in a career, or side project), and you can keep running it in the 'red' and HODL.  Don't bother trying to sell the gear on ebay - its like trying to sell your coin at the bottom, its just too late.  Ride it out.

yeah , who would have thought we would see such a drop, the people who bought gpus at decent prices
i.e close to retail are the only ones who might survive by selling off gear.

everyone else is getting reckt.

good thing that comes out of this is if this lasts another year shitmain might go bankrupt , from what i hear they are quite overextended, put in too many orders for thier shity chips.

Currently have my AMD rigs on moneroocean (using SRBminer to auto-switch between Cryptonight-based algos, and exchanging to XMR). Quite happy with that solution atm.

Interesting, I did not know MoneroOcean.

Lately Cryptonight is at the top of profitability considering it consumes less energy.

I will need to check it out myself.

I was able to get 4 msi vega 56 cards new  at very good prices .

they do 1700 easy  no flash no work just 18.8.1 and msi afterburner.

I have had them for under a week I will be trying to see what I can do with them.

The best vega 56 are the original blower fan type,as you can flash them with vega 64 bios and have almost same perf > 2000H/s

those are the ref cards not the msi ones he bought, pretty much all non ref 56 cards have shit hynix memory
If you cant find a ref 56 , just buy a true 64

I have one msi vega 56 (the ref one).
Anybody wants it in US,PM me.
I am tired of posting stuff in the marketplace as nobody buys anything there.
sell on ebay, too many bargin shoppers here

544  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining performance of Nvidia RTX 2080 Series on: September 04, 2018, 10:04:02 PM
It's speculative at this point.

I'd refrain from jumping to conclusions until actual measurements start coming out. Even after initial benchmarks, drivers and mining software could be better-optimized.

I'm not expecting a giant leap in mining performance either (certainly not enough to gamble on a pre-order), but I'm curious to see actual results.
yeah idk what the rush is, same with the ppl who all felt the need to jump on the fpga bandwagon early
instead of waiting till products were actually shipping.

I guess we never learn in this space lol

To be fair, pre-ordering a gpu with a relatively reliable resale and a warranty is a bit different than plonking down 3-5x the amount on a permanently custom modded, community supported piece of tech. Not saying there are no pros to the latter, of course, but pre-ordering something from Newegg is totally comfortable for me, whereas giving $4k to a stranger in untraceable currency is...well, riskier.
cheapest on newegg is $800 you can buy newrly two 1070ti or two vegas for that

i may be wrong, but isn't this a museum piece already before its being sold??

besides... i think 15500$ is better invested in some good coins for more profit...
15k for an x11 miner?
547  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum EIP 1234 accepted on: September 03, 2018, 02:45:35 AM
I've just been able to catch up on ETH news after a few weeks and from what i've read i'm now confused as to when the block reward reduction is going to be implemented. Is it October 2018 or during the Constantinople upgrade in 2019?

That being said, it indeed seems like ETH mining is guaranteed to end for GPU miners when that happens (i don't see ETH price recovering anytime soon). I wonder if Bitmain knew that ETH was not going to go POS this year, thus the ASIC developments.

5º They obviously want to reduce the amount of coins generated, and begin to take away from the coin those miners, so that the migration to total PoS is done without many people complaining too much.

Ignore the troll, the fork to reduce block reward, delay difficulty bomb and a few other network updates is called
constantinople, and its this year october 2018
548  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum EIP 1234 accepted on: September 02, 2018, 07:13:00 PM
just a few ideas / facts
1º Constantinople will be applied in winter 2019. So still 1 year and 2 months away more or less. Many things can happen

2º Reward per block reduced to 2 ETH. If in 1 year ETH is at the same price, it will be an absolute NO GO for miners (although it's already a NO GO).

The reduction go into effect only in 14 months?

This Ocotber.
OP is clueless.
Also block time will be reduced from 10 to 7 minutes, so drop in profitability will not be 30%.
Somebody please correct me with relevant links.

Per a GitHub post, the developers decided to accept the EIP-1234 scenario. It was proposed to delay the “Difficulty Bomb” for about 12 months, so the chain would be back at 30 second block times in winter 2019, and reduce the block rewards with the Constantinople fork

sorry , but you are the one clueless

https://cointelegraph.com/news/ethereum-core-devs-delay-difficulty-bomb-reduce-block-rewards-to-2-eth

lol wtf, its set for this october are u drunk? 2019 refers to the next fork, Constantinople is this year genius

I dont see any pofit in biblepay

@lunobird Let's just agree to disagree... don't want to debate over a speculative thing. BTW You are way too pessimistic which makes you sound like a troll.
yeah lol , definitely a Troll things are bad but theres alot on the horizon to look forward to from progpow,
monero 2nd fork , dapp development in eth and the fact that most Icos have finished thier dumping of eth and btc

and the appetite for new ico has seriously waned.

prices seem poised to pull us back into at atvleast  10k btc soon which will raise profit of all miners
551  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum EIP 1234 accepted on: September 01, 2018, 11:02:01 PM
We should drop ETH.
Since ETH dev don't give a shit about GPU miners we should leave them with ASIC miners and find new coins.
It seems Vitalik doesn't care anymore about decentralization

@asdb its difftent from when they moved from 5 to 3 eth since they also dropped the block time from 30 sec to 15 sec so it was a wash.  This is the first true reduction of issuance.

honestly I feel this is a good thing , my hope is gpu miners stay on the old fork similar to how etc was formed, then at a later date implement the constantinople changes along with a progpow or cn7 v 2 fork and let the asics have eth.

We need to reduce the dependence of mining profit on ethereum asap anyways, let asics have it.

I think this will show all those who say there is too much hash out there for other algos not to get destoyed when eth becomes unprofitable which i may well be with a 30 percent drop in block reward unless price rises by 30 percent.

When you all see that the majority of hash in etherum is asic based anyways , I have a feeling 70 percent of the the eth hashrate is Asic, vitalk and them i bet know this.

553  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Has anyone managed to mine x16r with RX Vega GPUs properly? on: September 01, 2018, 12:05:07 AM
So I'm trying to get a decent miner to work on my rig of 6xVega 56 (flashed to 64).

Tried Avermore 1.4.1: doesn't start after loading the kernel. Screen stays blank.
Tried Zawawa's GGS but it's not optimised and does no more than 10 MH/s per card.

Any more suggestions?
turn down the memory a ton like back to 900

vegas are beasts at x16r , on par with a 1080ti

You just have to lower memory alot, almost to stock

i also run a lower power limit, hash rate is 15mhs-23

Vegas are not on par with 1080tis. They are atleast 30% lower hashrate than 1080tis especially since there is no consistently updated amd miner for x16r.. x16r is not memory intensive, AMD wont be on par with nvidia.
30 percent slower? maybe 10 percent , I get 22 mhs on my vegas a low of 15, max i have seen on 1080 ti is 17 to 28

they are making wrong decisions.

alot people are going to suffer. except the devs.

we need to push for a progpow fork iff the main chain in october
555  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v11.9 (Windows/Linux) on: August 31, 2018, 11:59:20 PM
https://bitsonline.com/ether-2-eth-block-reward/
Devs agreed on 2 ethers per block reward instead of 3 as it is now. This will happen with the coming fork in October together with a delay of the difficulty bomb by a year. Last November happened something similar, if I recall correctly. Then the reduced time for a block compensated the miners, so we got the same profit at the end. I hope it will be the same situation this October, or else the mining will end for those with expensive electricity.

Prepare to see a big GPU sell-off.

I'm now going to turn into a gamer. Is there any high-end game that requires 12 high-end GPU's at once and works with only 2 GB RAM + Pentium processor? Roll Eyes

LOL

we are hoping to push for a fork off the main chain using the asic resistant progpow algo
Bitcoin Interest is piloting such a change for thier eth fork next week

Ok but those 50 1070s gave you over150usd/day pure profit few months ago. This one Z9 mini gives you 10usd/day and have no resale value soon Smiley

They were never that profitable, maybe half that at best. That profit was the result of a hyper inflated market and chances are we will never see anything like that again. This isnt an industry where you can look at a specific point in time in the past and say "look at how good this stuff is" because that data is completely irrelevant.

Also for the price of those 50 cards you can buy 24 z9 minis and make $240 a day....

you’re a terrible miner if you didn’t make at least $150 a day with 50 gpus before asics killed profit in 2017 that or you were late to the party and are buthurt u missed fat gains.

No worries by batch 4 that z9 will be a nice spaceheater like my A3s B3s and S9s

If you are mining ethereum or its forks with gpus and have a github account you ahould flood this post
by the eth devs and asic shills discussing reducting block reward only, or forking Asics and reducing blook reward.
So far most of the support serms to be for Asics.  They are discussing all this in a meeting tomorrow so leave your imput as gpu miners.
