LOL are you kidding me? a forum for 1 mil? am I missing something here? is this NASA?  did you even have a look at the website of the  "company he hired" to do the job? its a 5 dollar template site.

and you dont think he will risk his rep over so much money? well. thats your opinion.
his improvements are slow, cost to much, mostly never come, and with they do, they suck.
so yes thermos is dipshit and there is no use starting a scam accusation as there is no new info, just the stuff thats on reddit.

oh and I will just add. after spending 1 mil you got thin air in return
While 1 million $ is no small amount, you or me can't really tell why the amount was spent. This isn't the place to discuss about the new forum/ theymos's 'embezzlement". Create an another thread, and we shall have a legitimate conversation and by we, I think a lot of people would be interested in this "embezzlement" controversy.
662  Other / Meta / Re: A place for us to receive merits? on: August 29, 2018, 10:11:13 PM
I know most of you are aware of the merit system.  The newly system implemented in this forum which will make us more competitive than others using our brains to make quality posts.
Oh sure, you're using your brains for bounty reports. That should get 10 merits per post IMO.

PS: The newly implemented system is 217 days old BTW.

Some of us are using minds in creating posts or new thread.
Does that include you? You ARE a shitposter. So you don't use your mind, if you really do, well you're stupid.

I thought the rant and bitching about merit was over?

One mind, Two mind, Three mind, four... Not enough minds bitch I need two more... Still not enough to shake my brain... Lol Fan of Hollywood Undead
OP got brain transplants too.

Wait a minute... TheJoke[r], hates mysterious rich people, hmmmmm. I think this all boils down to Batman issues.

yeah. or you can continue to remain blindfolded and a good patron of "the mysterious guy" Smiley

and when you decide to stop being an ostrich with your head stuck in a hole in the ground  check out this:
https://www.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/55xjai/proof_that_theymoss_embezzled_forum_money_has/

and other links when googling "epochtalk reddit"

but of course if backing up someone you never knew or met is your thing. then kudos
You should read this: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2mcdb4/thermos_is_spending_100000_worth_of_his_donated/cm32dws

I don't think theymos will ever risk his reputation amongst other things[1] for money. In fact, he is one of the very rare people who actually helps the community. He has done so mnay things and is even doing things like trying to make improvements everywhere in the bitcoin community, while you're just saying thermos is dipshit. If you have any legit accusation/s, write it up here or here in Meta itself, it won't be moderated, so you don't have to worry about that.

[1]You shouldn't be knowing what that is.
664  Other / Meta / Re: Show new replies to your posts on: August 28, 2018, 11:42:52 PM
Nope. Not yet. And its not coming soon either. Get used to it. I am an asshole now, again. good luck.
665  Other / Meta / Re: "Trust" system is shit !!! "Trust me !!!" on: August 28, 2018, 11:34:13 PM
Soon? I doubt it will ever happen just like migrating completely to the new forum.
Hey hey, the new forum is coming out in 3018TM. Have high hopes.  Angry

Well, that's what happens if you give control over to an individual/group of individuals. Either way, I don't really want to complain. I have catered my trust-settings to trust like 2 people and don't even judge anybody by the random DT ratings left on their profile.
I think for last 2 years, no DT1 member has been added. Only people have been removed. DeaDTerra was one, and escrow.ms was two, that I vaguely recall.

Oooohhhh made the experienced list.
You'll get used to it. Don't be surprised if people call you mod/dev/admin/god/satoshi.   Undecided

Anyone who relies on the trust system is making a flawed assessment of their situation. I look at it for what it was originally intended( I assume), assessing the person I'm trading with. I will generally still use escrow regardless but it's always there as a supplementary tool.
Trust system is supposed to make individuals look trustworthy, that's why people get added to DT, and that's why the ratings are visible. New members have no clue on how this system works, so if they see someone trustworthy, then they'll most likely trade with them. Newbies even deal with scammers and other fake newbies, and end up getting scammed, so dealing with a trusted member would make more sense. We know who to deal with and who not to deal with, after being here for months if not years.

This forum has complicated internals. For example, account sales isn't against the rules, but you get a scammer tag if you are revealed to be buying accounts. Most people don't even know the rules. Not all new members come here and search for things like: "Why do people get red trust?" "Why is account sales discouraged?" Things like this should be pinned in the spam-fest Discussion boards.

666  Other / Meta / Re: FAO MODS: Why not charge a fee to recover hacked accounts? on: August 28, 2018, 11:09:54 PM
I remember Hilariousandco(Global Mod) saying that Cyrus once mentioned that account recoveries are a hectic task, and a lot of investigation is involved. These account recoveries consume a lot of time, apparently. Since only 2 people can investigate and their time is very limited, so a lot of issues just exist and nothing ever happens.

I don't think I said hectic, but what I probably said was that there's likely more to them than just verifying the address and then restoring it. It's likely not just a five minute job.
Called it.  Roll Eyes

It would take at least a couple hours every day to deal with them. Each case typically requires a lot of follow-up. And it's really annoying work. I used to do them sort-of regularly, but at some point I just couldn't stand it anymore, in addition to not really having time. Cyrus is still doing some, though not enough to keep up.

Yes, this would be very useful. I hate that I'm basically acting as a CEO here. I hate dealing with lawyers and accountants, or figuring out who to hire. This stuff is not my wheelhouse, and is in fact not even on my ship. I wish that someone would take all of that business-related stuff off my hands. But it looks like that's the one aspect which is most difficult to (safely) get rid of, so I've been trying (with only a bit of success) to delegate in other areas.
That's your problem? Jesus, you live in the US, all those problems could be solved, there are so many people you can call up, since you don't have financial issues. Hire someone on or off the forum to manage the forum ads.
I mean, you have been in the bitcoin community for 8-9 years now,you still are finding trouble to find someone trustworthy? Yeah, being an admin can be a tedious and time consuming task, and delegating things may end up fucking you up, but you got to give it a go, otherwise things will get much worse. And the burden you put on yourself, will one day harm you only. Asking for help is not a bad thing, I don't know why, but i think you have such mindset?

Hate dealing with lawyers?  Find a lawfirm and be their client, since again, its not about the money. Having accounting issues, hire accountants? Accounting is a fairly moderate thing to do,because I have a background in it(speaking from experience), and since the forum doesn't have many means of expenses and income, it should be pretty-straightforward.
I was fucking honest, and I am not sorry. Tongue
667  Other / Meta / Re: "Trust" system is shit !!! "Trust me !!!" on: August 28, 2018, 10:54:16 PM
I wonder why are we ever relying on a broken system so much that we think it's the only cure for all the problems on the forum. I shouldn't complain though, for I don't have a better alternative to suggest.
We are relying on it because replacing default trust isn't going to happen soon.

And yeah, the Trust System here sucks balls, its not the system but some *people* that caused it to be bad. They make the system be so bad. A lot of people have ego issues here, on a forum. So if you call "X" DT member, a dog, you might get tagged for that  Roll Eyes. Some people act as if its decentralized, but its more centralized than it being decentralized. Wonder how many people are pissed at me for saying this. Don't deal with any body based on their trust, it might not be the best idea for you.
668  Other / Meta / Re: Is it even allowed to promote website ? on: August 28, 2018, 02:40:50 PM
Promoting is equal to advertising and advertising is not allowed as per rules. Report one of his posts and see what happens. He might get temp banned at least.
669  Other / Meta / Re: FAO MODS: Why not charge a fee to recover hacked accounts? on: August 28, 2018, 02:34:49 AM
We don't actually accept the profile field address unless there's some sort of proof that it's remained unchanged, for that very reason.

Well geez, BPIP can track that easily... would that be enough proof?
More than enough. The only issue is because the profile address changes aren't dated. Even an archive of it would help it.
670  Economy / Reputation / Re: A non-shitposting farmer? on: August 28, 2018, 01:23:35 AM
If he is a decent poster, then he probably won't join bounties. He'd go for the homerun, aka the Signature campaigns that pay in bitcoin. A lot of managers may hire him, because he isn't a shit-poster. He's perhaps one of the users who have a shitload of accounts, use it join different campaigns, and avoid getting neg-rated.  Wouldn't be surprised if he ranks up and applies for chipmixer, but that's a long way to go.

Unless he is breaking the rules, you don't really need to keep an eye on him, there's much more urgent matters that needs to be taken care of.

I counted 0 (zero) merits across 26 accounts. Average account age is ~6 weeks, so that's equivalent to 1 account aged ~3 years (Legendary rank date range). I think it's safe to say that Chipmixer isn't happening for this farmer but the accounts still can be sold. I've seen haiku bots that have been sold after ranking up to Jr.
He'll probably just get annoyed by the forum, and by the time he gets to legendary, the forum would be asking for KYC , so he'd eventually give up on account farming, and go back to ICOforums.net, shitpost there, and get paid.  Undecided

We'll still have hilariousandco asking theymos to initiate a welcome message for newbies. Awesome.
671  Other / Meta / Re: FAO MODS: Why not charge a fee to recover hacked accounts? on: August 28, 2018, 01:18:40 AM
Wasn't Theymos working on a system that would allow us to regain control of our account by email? Something similar to the possibility to lock our account when the email and password were changed. Wasn't it supposed to be added very soon?
AFAIK he did mention something of sort (bit too lazy to actually search for the specific post). It has been a while though so I wouldn't hold my breath on it coming out any time soon.
Yeah theymos mentioned that in a PM to KWH. Here's the PM,along with KWH's post:

If you have not posted that addy elsewhere, it probably won't be accepted.

We don't actually accept the profile field address unless there's some sort of proof that it's remained unchanged, for that very reason.

I'm working on a new address-staking system which will automatically handle signatures, etc. Might have it ready by the end of the month if nothing else comes up to consume my time.

It would have already been released by June(2018) end, its August end, so you just have to wait till....KYC gets implemented.  Undecided

These account recoveries consume a lot of time, apparently. Since only 2 people can investigate and their time is very limited, so a lot of issues just exist and nothing ever happens.
I think the process is even simpler for data-centered websites like facebook... I wonder what investigations can possibly be involved apart from checking the IP logs. IP Logs along with verification from the oldest staked address should be enough. The problem is, this process isn't automated and 2 admins have to process this stuff manually.
IP logs can be easily checked. Its literally a single button: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=help;page=profile#admins

Sometimes the issue is that, the Bitcoin address that is staked, its private key is sold along with the account. If the old account holder used a VPN/TOR and the new account holder also does the same, then investigation becomes complicated.

674  Other / Meta / Re: Is it allowed to this type of promoting style on altcoin announcement board? on: August 27, 2018, 10:29:20 PM
I don't these are bots, these are shitposters. There isn't any rule claiming not to use bots, however if these posters are paid to post, then its not allowed.

But since its copy pasted(first two posts) and the other is article spunned, they should be banned.

Also, the thread is thrashed.
AFAIK they aren't bots - the OP was incentivizing posting in the thread via airdrop. Trashed the thread and temp banned OP.
Beat you by 45 seconds.  Tongue

This article was written about bitcointalk's marketing: https://hackernoon.com/marketing-on-bitcoin-talk-what-can-go-wrong-d6d5bd6c6174

Most of the ICOs face the same issues.
Have a few suggestions in mind:

- Make a god-damn campaign guidelines for newbie campaign managers.

- The bitcointalk rules should be viewed everywhere(similar to reddit, shown on the right-hand side). At least then, people can know what the rules are, and the fact that rules actually exist(This can be really helpful).
677  Economy / Reputation / Re: Known Alts of any-one - A User Generated List Mk III (2018 Q3) on: August 25, 2018, 03:20:34 PM
Jesus Christ. I've been saying it's not going to be long before the only people posting here are shitposting families and their half a dozen alt accounts, but I can't believe that they actually took a picture of their operation. I never thought I'd see this. I think you're wrong about their excuses though. What I think likely actually happens in the vast majority of cases is that there will be one 'ring-leader,' 'boss' or family member etc that is the main person behind recruiting people to the group. He will tell his friends, family, co-workers, schoolmates that they can earn good money just by posting on a forum. These newbies obviously don't know how to work a bitcoin wallet nor care to learn so the ringleader of the spammer group will be in charge of all the wallets for the accounts. He obviously then has a lot of different addresses with money in so he will send them all to one address and then to the exchange or something like that. He will take his cut minus fees then pay them in their local cash. The sad thing is that picture will likely just be a small operation here. I'm sure there are farms or sweatshops with double/treble the amount in that picture. I don't think it's crazy to imagine that there will be entire offices set up like this in the near future if they haven't already. I mean, one guy even claimed that his entire office's accounts were banned (though that was like just a one man job and the bullshit excuse he came out with). As long as you can continue to get paid here for doing nothing but churning out a sentence or two then this is only going to get worse. Shit can't continue.
Dude, it doesn't end there. They have a fucking blog/entire website, showcasing how abusing bounty campaigns can lead to a fucking good life. I am so jealous dude. Like, sitting here following the community based policies and they are chillin over there having horrible English but at the same time getting paid in much massive figures. Oh great!!!!

The one ring leader/boss here is : Leader Tim.

thermos, do something! Don't turn this forum into a fucking Battle Royale to see who survives till the end. As it is, most knowledgeable people left the forum, something needs to be done,at least for the love of bitcoin?  Huh

The mod in politics & society is gay.
FH, I thought you were a lesbian. I am so disappointed in you.  Angry

Is there are really no lesbians in bitcointalk?  Shocked Cry Undecided
I've been called a Nazi too
So is mprep achow101, proves out OP's theory is right, you're gay!!!!

Edit: Thanks mday.

680  Other / Meta / Re: Please show Trust in Project Development on: August 24, 2018, 10:52:29 PM
I think you misunderstood what I'm explaining and I missed a comma when separating a long sentence. Now it is corrected and I'm not talking about the removal of DT member, but the red trust gave by that DT member for the particular user who not found guilty after an investigation.
No DT member tags someone who isn't a scammer. If there's an accusation going on, the tag stays for a little while, after the accusation is cleared and if the user in question isn't guilty. He won't be getting any negative for that.

I think you choose the decontextualized way of debating. We all know what "theymos" said about the trust system. I am talking about when giving away your merits, we don't need to consider the red trust of that user.
Read this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3377342.msg35493406#msg35493406

You can get negative trust for merit abusing, theymos has approved it. IIRC, he told to tag only obvious merit abusers, otherwise, give users the benefit of the doubt.

The forum might not be in a great way currently. There's definitely issues, and everyone knows this. But, honestly I don't see the benefit of introducing something which would affect how users perceive one another in sections which are irrelevant to trust.

I'm not a fan personally. I can see your frustration, but I don't think this is the way to go about it.
Yeah, trust shouldn't be shown in all sections. There are neg. rated members who have good knowledge(I am not talking about you, QS). For example, Last of the V8's has got a lot of merits, and is a meme guy who posts in the Wall Observer thread mainly.  Grin

EDIT: Vod, you can literally ask this guy to pray for you here to get theymos to listen to you: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4632723.0;
