681  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Aptos Fake/Scam Airdrop Site on: November 21, 2023, 07:31:13 PM
I have not received any big reward from free airdrop. I watched videos where Youtubers got a big airdrop from by doing some sample tasks. I am following them just with thinking that maybe I also get it.
Don't be deceived by what YouTubers display out there now. That golden era where people got appreciable rewards from airdrops has gone. That was the 2016–2017 era. I was a crypto rookie when that was happening and couldn't understand what was going on. Well, there was that killing ETH gas fee then and there were only a few exchanges where to sell off those tokens then. Most of those airdropped tokens never lasted. They got "rugpulled" as soon as they got listed on some unpopular exchanges. Some of those exchanges were co-owned by those projects and that made it very easy for them to cash out. It was the same way we had merry days with faucets but all that don't attract much interest this day.
682  Other / Meta / Re: Any 50 BTC donor still active here? on: November 21, 2023, 06:55:52 PM
Get a list of those members that was given by LoyceV.
Wow! There are a whole lot of them from that data. I never knew so many people turned out to ensure the forum got funds for its upkeep back then by donating to its cause. It's really sad that most of those members aren't active any more or their accounts exchanged hands. Perhaps a greater number of them moved on to better things that caught their fancies once Bitcoin became popular. Anyway, let me quickly add that those coins were donated at a time Bitcoin wasn't that valuable. I'm sure it would be different given the same scenario now.

Kudos to those who donated. You guys are the rare gems, despite how it turned out later.

Complaining about poverty and not making any decisions is the easiest way. Anyone who tries to change their lives will definitely achieve it; it is important not to stop at the first failure.
I understand the point you made there. I just got off the phone with someone a few minutes ago and we talked about this similar thing, concerning people complaining of how difficult things have become but would foot drag when made an offer to better their lot. However, the twist to this is that there are people who want to do something to transcend their poverty level but can't really find anything to do. This is the situation in most countries in Africa where I come from. The ineptitude of our political leadership has thrown so many able bodied men and women into the dungeon of poverty. These are people who sought for something to do but can't find any, coupled with the harsh legislations to go with which make going into private enterprise difficult because of the tax system and all that. It's a sad reality but let me not bore you with all that.
684  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is your solution to pay less Fee ? on: November 21, 2023, 01:41:44 PM
~snipped~
If the aim is lower fees, then forget the pointless crypto swaps and look into simpler, practical options.
No, I don't think it's a useless advice. If anything, it makes sense. I've used that method at a point in the past. Anyway, what would be the, "simpler practical options" for you if I may ask other than swapping (maybe into other coins that's not LTC) that GeorgeJohn mentioned. Now is a very critical time for Bitcoin in terms of its major cardinal use as payment option and it's falling at it. I'm sure Satoshi would've been very disappointed seeing this.
685  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Survived Cancer because of ALTCOINS/MINING on: November 21, 2023, 10:50:03 AM
OP's story reminds me of Hal Finney (Hal). Even while sick and in partial paralysis, that user was still committed to coding and programming as he told his story. He was one of the very few who came close in interactions with the Bitcoin maverick, Satoshi.

I like it when people find worthy courses to distract them from all agonies when they're faced with the vicissitudes and issues of life. Life isn't fair to all, dealing us dirty when we least expect. OP, it's good to hear you made it through your issues of life. Welcome back.
686  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcointalk forum a home of solution on: November 21, 2023, 08:47:47 AM
I would say that the forum does not solve the problem. Users may be able to help with advice, but solving everything and everywhere, as they say here, borders on fantasy.
I can understand the hyperbole in OP's comment but that's not to be taken for granted for those of us who had zero knowledge of Bitcoin before coming here. As a noob, there were a few dudes from my country I met who branded themselves as crypto gees who wouldn't even explain to me how to generate a thing as basic as an address until I paid them. That same information was effortlessly dished out to me here free once I asked without much ado.

All you can get on the forum is information about cryptocurrency, and you can earn a little extra money. For me, this is by no means a solution to all, as they say, life’s adversities. If this is not the case, you can be called lucky.
Basically, what is there to life if we take off those two – knowledge and earning. If the forum offers those two (and we know it does), haven't a better part of our problems taken care of 😏. There are several millions who need these two but haven't located this forum. So, they still have those two problems unresolved in addition to other problems bedeviling them.
687  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best exchange to start trading? on: November 21, 2023, 07:28:42 AM
Like I said I am not looking at trading to make a big return and if I start with $200 will be happy if I can turn that into $1k to then invest the profits in my long term position.
$200 to $1k is a massive achievement. It's huge if we want to consider your idea of, "not looking at trading to make a big return". Anyone who gets that ROI should applaud themselves for such a feat. Again, you shouldn't be carried away or be blinded by the profit you made by turning your $200 to $300 and then neglect the high risk associated with investment in altcoins. Mind the tokens you invest in. Also, always check and follow media channels of these tokens you've invested into to know what goes on with them. That way, you will easily know when a dump is coming or when favourable news emanate.

What exactly have you been buying?
Bitcoin or a stable coin?
OP mentioned it in their next post, perhaps you didn't read further. They said the alts were Alliance Block & Kaspa.
688  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to verified My Binance Account? on: November 20, 2023, 05:45:05 PM
I guess asking through their live support is faster than asking through this forum, @OP you need to use your common sense.
I was wondering too why OP came to the forum to ask about such an issue that's easily provided for on the Binance site. The interface on Binance is user-friendly with prompts here and there guiding every user on how to go through the verification process.

My advice is stay away against centralized exchange.
Everyone keeps saying this but they quickly forget that Dexs don't have as much options of trading pairs as Cexs. Traders love options to choose from and that's likely why they will keep going to centralized exchanges.
689  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why would someone want to buy an old empty ethereum address? on: November 20, 2023, 03:56:47 PM
I'd forego the benefit of the doubt, it's most likely going to be used for a scam. They're most likely going to use past transactions as a method to showcase how "trustworthy" they are or something along those lines.
This is the most tenable reason for me on that. No one buys an old or abandoned stuff if they don't believe they would hit a goldmine in it. We know people buy old social media accounts and use them to promote new projects to make them look old in the business and end up deceiving unsuspecting public. How those buying old ETH addresses will actualize such a nefarious scheme that expectedly will dovetail into a scam is what I would love to find out.
690  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What can help develop promising ideas without having huge resources? on: November 20, 2023, 02:20:32 PM
How do you think it is possible to raise a promising, but not having significant capital, project from the bottom and bring it to high heights in the world of cryptocurrencies? What strategies and actions can help to develop promising ideas without initially having huge resources?
We've seen many of projects starting small come online to ask for term members even before the projects are put together. It's crazy that someone gets random strangers to be on their projects, though. It's a telltale sign of scam waiting to happen. Sadly, not many people can pick up such sign.

What most smart devs and their teams do to raise awareness if they don't have funds to play around and advertise their projects is to airdrop their tokens and then create room for referral bonuses so those recruited can recruit others. Some of them run bounties and then offer to pay hunters with their unlisted tokens. Those two techniques seem to work better than others with the developers not having to commit much capital to it.
691  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is Bitcoin Bear Market over? on: November 20, 2023, 11:49:42 AM
What are your thoughts 🤔💭
The price dip in Bitcoin at this time is correction, not in any way does it signify a bear market. You should experience a bear season to know the difference between it and price dip. 2026 will afford you that experience. Back to the issue at hand, even if Bitcoin doesn't cross the $37k (it's at $37,250, already) level this November, I still count it to be in a bull rally. Everything points to that. The rally continues to speed up as halving draws near and that's what we're witnessing. So, don't panic. Do your purchase an hodl for the ride.
692  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Javier Milei just won the presidentiial election in Argentina on: November 20, 2023, 10:23:20 AM
That, indeed, is glad tidings for Bitcoin loving Argentines; both those living in the country and outside it. It transcends to even our community here as we already can feel the positive vibe. I don't want to share any pessimism of what the newly elected president, Javier Milei, may do right or wrong as that will distract the excitement in the air of his victory. This is worth celebrating because it's a win for Bitcoin and digital economy. Definitely, his policies will further deepen exposure for Bitcoin.
693  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the best thing that have ever come to you thanks to BTC on: November 20, 2023, 05:48:17 AM
Well, if I'm to quantify what Bitcoin has done for me I would say various; though I haven't been able to become affluent through it. I'm still that struggling dude out there. Yes, I've had a couple of near misses where I could've achieved that affluent status but for greed. Nonetheless, the great thing for me in this industry is that my involvement has enabled me empower a few others and provided them a source of livelihood, even outside here. I offer tutorials on Bitcoin and crypto trading. To me, that's a great fulfilment. Now I'm counting down to another bull run, hopefully I don't miss out on the Benjamins again.

Actually first user of the forum admin registered on November 18, 2009, 02:12:33 AM.
satoshi account was created one day later.
That account lived barely five days after its registration and then got abandoned. I suspect it was created by the same person that created the Satoshi account.

BTW, it was November 17, not 18.

Since it's not confidential information, I guess there is no harm in sharing it. Smiley
Ok, then. If you wouldn't mind further, kindly share the said post. Perhaps, our hearts will merry seeing it 🧐

~snipped~
Sir, I think this is good advice from you "We have to learn how to live now and also project a little into the future." Thank You.
Thank you for finding that part didactic. Honestly, if only we could take out a minute and reflect on life issues and the vicissitudes there are, most of us will be greatly humbled by the nothingness of our existence. I laugh whenever I see people boast of material acquisitions while their families are in ruins because they abandoned them to penury.

Anyway, that's me digressing a bit there. 🙈
696  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why are there fewer women Than men involved in Bitcoin? on: November 19, 2023, 05:49:56 PM
I would appreciate if we can talk about this here. What could be responsible for this?
Bitcoin investment, knowledge and all whatnot may not be physically exhausting but the mental ability put into it for anyone interested in it isn't a joke. Women don't like what will stress them that much. Learning about Bitcoin is complex and technical. Again, Bitcoin started out with a lot of misgivings and misinformation as a scam. Thus, many people steered clear of it; majority were women. Till date, that misconception hasn't completely cleared in people's mind. Men can easily stomach loss but it's not that way with women. Women are often emotional around stuff like this. I think the loss part of this industry may not be what women want to deal with.
697  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs Altcoins on: November 19, 2023, 04:38:42 PM
It's like the era of BTC dominance and dictation of other altcoins performance is gradually winding down.
Yes, I can understand from what angle you're saying this as that dominance is now around 51% as against 75% to 80% we used to have it  less than a seven years ago. However, at 51% Bitcoin is still dusting the rest of the pack of cryptos with ETH coming a distant second with  around 17% market dominance according to CMC data.

For those who want to invest in altcoins, make your pick from altcoins with use cases. Don't pick randomly based on price. Also, remember that altcoins often pump after Bitcoin is done pumping as investors will cash out of Bitcoin and move their profit to alts. In my speculation, I guess later part of 2025 is going to be another altcoin memorable period. That's the period I want to see alts pump real hard.
698  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Massive influx of scammers activity during the bull season. on: November 19, 2023, 02:24:28 PM
It would be nice for the community to discuss how these period are so vital on profits and also how they can also be a hit by some these scammers that are fully active during this period due to same reason that everyone is always hyper in these period.
It's a circle that repeats itself every bull season. We know scammers are all for the money, this money rain becomes obvious during bull rally. That's when most people become excited and then lose guard. It's a favourable time for scammers to hit their preys. Of course, we know how angered and frustrated many investors tend to be during a crash and they're not likely to be interested in any further talks. During bull rally, investors are willing to invest further.

To checkmate scammers and hackers during bull season, people should be weary clicking on random links. Links could be malware carriers. Again, we should be careful with our passwords and passphrases. On no account should anyone screenshot them. It's better to write them out on a piece of paper or on a notebook. Do this and you're further away from getting scammed or hacked. Lastly, don't patronise any business that sounds too good to be true. They often end as scams.
699  Economy / Economics / Re: Imaginary Future on: November 18, 2023, 04:10:32 PM
Do you ever feel like that being after saving or investing for future you forget to live in the present? You don't buy the things you want to or don't go after experiences you want because you'd rather save/invest for future instead.
No, I don't feel like that. I've learned to balance things up. I invest awhile, wait for its dividends to come and then spend it on pressing needs. Take time off busy schedules and relax. We should learn how to ease off from time to time, after all no one will have all they planned to achieve accomplished. Even when you record tremendous success, you will want to embark on another. That's the whole makeup of man. Man likes conquering new territories and breaking limits; except for the unambitious ones. We should learn how to live life for its present time while also project a bit for the future. We shouldn't completely sacrifice our today for tomorrow. No one is promised tomorrow, like Akon the musician, would say.
700  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the minimum amount of bitcoin or satoshi should hold for poor? on: November 18, 2023, 02:19:48 PM
What is the minimum amount of bitcoins a poor person should have? and the minimum time it should be Hold/retained?
I know we're dealing with being broke here though you used the poor person tag. The real poor person won't even be bothered with anything investing as they don't even know where their next meal comes from. Be that as it may, you've to know that in this crypto industry no one is infallible. We're all at best speculators. It's like what happens at wedding where the priest tears out a marriage certificate and hands it over to the groom. People don't graduation on the first day of whatever they're into without first learning it. Yet, a newly wedded couple is handed a certificate. It simply shows thag no one knows it all in marriage. You should see crypto that way while seeking advice. Verify whatever you're told and don't take any advice or suggestions on their face value without doing your own research too. In summary, you will still be the one who will decide what amount of Bitcoin you should hold and that will depend on the cash at your disposal.
