701  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lotteries and possibility vs. probability on: October 23, 2023, 11:04:41 PM
-cut-
So over all, lottery is for the most lucky people or gamblers, and also for the patient, for the impatient gambler will probably play the lottery once, loss and never come back to try again, chances are that, an average gambler may lose the lottery game a hundreds or even more times, before he or she have any chances of ever winning.
Lottery isn't a winners game. Amount of people playing it and losing is way higher then people losing in casino games.
Take jackpot, let's say Megamillions for example. Changes to win it are 1 in 302.6 million.

Slots have a bad odds for winning jackpot too but they are way higher. According to investopedia article "one-in-5,000 to one-in-about-34-million chance of winning", and since odds in slots are bad, people turn to other casino games, table or even sports betting. Games that have lower house edge. Those are not bringing huge jackpots so they are not as inviting for players like me for example, as for me this is all about luck and big multipliers. If i would want to have better odds, i would be definitely playing blackjack as that has lowest one, if one just follows some simple rules playing it.
On just simply looking at the odds then you could really be able to tell that its not really that something that you could be able to hit up even if you do have that long lifespan and continously betting on everyday.  Grin

This is why it would really be that always a best approach on dealing up with lotteries or sweepstakes that you should not really be that anticipating or really that being too positive on winning the lottery would really be just that making you that betting even more on which it isnt really that recommended in doing so. If you do have just some spare amount of money then it wont really be that bad to throw up some bucks into lottery.
Just make it sure that you arent really that spending that much when it comes to lottery tickets because if you do then it would really be that still significant when the time comes.
This is why you should really be mindful and careful when it comes your spending.

Ticket purchases are cheap but since you would really be making bets on everyday then there time come then it would be something that you would really be that significant.
Just dont make yourself that desperate then you should really be just fine and if you do really that make yourself that enjoying on betting on lotteries then go ahead.
Just dont make yourself that messed up.

Buying cheap tickets that have remote possibilities of giving you a win, but are cheap even bought by the dozen is - statistically speaking - clearly and provably a losers game. However, there is nothing wrong in playing tickets from time to time because it is like a way of keeping hope for the future alive for many people who will never have any other way of making significant money.

This is what the Ruzzies see when near the Terrycon. Anyone fancy going with them on a "storming operation"??

The main striking force near Avdeevka are former prisoners from the Storm Z assault detachments of the Ministry of Defense. Nobody asks them what they want, they are given an order and they carry it out. Ukraine's deployment of 31 and 47 mechanized brigades to defend Avdiivka indicates two things: the situation there for Ukraine is close to critical and the Ukrainian counter-offensive has truly ended.

In that we can agree: many of the individuals in the units are given orders that are simply obscene - there is no way to carry them out, it is simple suicide. It is normal in any army to follow orders - that's how armies work in general - the difference is what orders are being given, what are the chances of success and how risky the operation is. The incompetence of the leaders is shown in the type of orders given.

BTW it seems that from WW II tactics, now Ruzzia has passed to WW I meat attacks tactics and lately to Medieval siege techniques by digging tunnels under fortifications. What is next? Using swords?

Again, trying to represent "people" like if only "people" voted for Trump. It is not true, he is rich and has huge donations from rich people. There is nobody more detached from reality and the "people" he pretends to represent than him. He has lived since for ever in his bubble of privilege and cares nothing for "people". All he has ever tried is to hold on to the family fortune.

Again, Ukraine is not fighting alone, the mobilisation of Ukraine human resources is far for exhausted, Ukrainians are resisting Putler's Moscowian regime because they know there is no peace unless he is stopped drastically. There is not an option for "no fighting" if you want a country that you can call your own and in which you are actually a full rights citizen.

Since the beginning of Ruzzia's war of invasion Ukraine has been getting stronger an stronger. They have tank brigades that did not exist, fully modernised artillery units to the point that has exceeded Ruzzia's fire effectiveness, long range striking capability with Scalps/stormshadows, long range G2G capability with ATACAMS.

Really?

https://twitter.com/vicktop55/status/1715798683675992559

Yes, Branko really, a tweet does not change any of that.

Meanwhile we are discussing, a few of the mili-bloggers are claiming that Ruzzis have taken the pile of waste north of Adviika, then claiming that Ukraine took it back, then again... I am starting to think that they may not have taken it in the first place. However, what I have seen is pictures of the area - hint = they are not a nice view for the Ruzzian war enthusiats (if there is anyone left).

This is what the Ruzzies see when near the Terrycon. Anyone fancy going with them on a "storming operation"??

https://t.me/rezident_ua/20205

English translation:

" If we compare the mobilization processes in Ukraine and the Russian Federation, they are strikingly different.

If in Ukraine there is a mass exodus of men of military age using a number of corruption schemes to avoid going to the front or going abroad, then in the Russian Federation the army continues to grow at the expense of contract soldiers.  Thus, only since the beginning of 2023, 357 thousand people have been accepted into the Russian army.  Moreover, this number included not only those who were in the reserves and signed a contract, but also volunteers.
In Ukraine, there are virtually no “volunteers” left—there are no queues at military registration and enlistment offices (as was the case in the first months of the military conflict).  Now military commissars are forcibly dragging people to the TCC - the mobilization resource in the country is almost exhausted, so the capture of almost every man of military age is more reminiscent of footage from an action-packed film.
That is, the potential of Russia and Ukraine in military terms is simply not comparable, and the current situation with mobilization processes in the two countries suggests that Ukraine has no chance of surviving a resource war. "

It seems even Ukrainians (unlike paxmao) are starting to realize the truth

Again, Ukraine is not fighting alone, the mobilisation of Ukraine human resources is far for exhausted, Ukrainians are resisting Putler's Moscowian regime because they know there is no peace unless he is stopped drastically. And this is only going to get worse for the Ruzzi (mostly from the territories, not really Ruzzis): along the next months Ukraine will get a decent airforce (F-16 and possibly  Gripen) and the suit of bad beast weapon that can be launch from these (e.g. meteor, HARM, amrams...).

I have to congratulate Putin for achieving this - from a barely armed state that posed no threat, to a porcupine with all the latest shit to throw to your human-wave attacks.

Now Branko, try again, but this time say something credible.

Speaking of credible, it seems that Kazaks being forcibly enlisted upon threat of deportation. Why Branko? do you think they do not share your uninformed optimism?

Factually wrong information. Firstly, the US has a permanent stock of military supplies in Israel. The reason is that if a war with Iran, Siria, Egypt or others breaks out, it is difficult to send immediate support from across two seas to Israel. US simply has opened the gates and pass the bill.
The United States cannot now pass a single bill due to the absence of the speaker of the lower house of Congress. It is the speaker of the lower house of Congress who puts laws on the agenda for consideration; in fact, he has the right of veto, like the president. After McCarthy's resignation, all legislative activity in the United States was paralyzed.

Fully incorrect. There is a temporary speaker https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-67161430, the legislative process is not interrupted in any way and the funny thing is that since this guy is temporary, they cannot remove him as easily as an elected one.

Mr Buck argued there is nothing preventing the Speaker pro tempore from performing normal legislative duties, like recognising members for motions to propose legislation. If Mr McHenry began to do that, he wrote, it would be up to House members to object or come up with an alternative plan.

Now, try again, but this time read some credible sources first.
You are lying, wishful thinking. The acting speaker of the lower house of the US Congress does not have the authority to introduce new bills for consideration; now the House of Representatives can only consider bills previously put forward for consideration and all legislative activity in the United States is paralyzed. Actually, the article at your link suggests one of the options for solving this problem - giving the acting speaker the necessary powers.

Just read the links and care to read the news from more than one source. do you really think that US support for Israel is going to be stopped by a technicality? Well, if that goes ahead, Ukraine help , debt ceiling, border security and many others go in the package.

BTW, yesterday was the day of the war in which more Ruzzi-tanks were destroyed. There are so many pictures, video and geolocated evidence that mappers are still trying to process, but there seems to be more than 50 tanks lost in a day with no tactical gain to mention. This is along the 40 lost not two days ago and the now thousands of Ruzzis recycled into landfill along with them.

It seems that Ukraine has now taking the advantage in artillery, not just in precision, but now in shelling per day. The self-demilitarisation of Ruzzia is going well.

Secondly, not only the aid is not diverted to Israel, the fact is that now many republicans are keen on sending aid to Israel, to which Biden has made an intelligent play: All needs to be passed in one law: aid to Ukraine, aid to Israel and debt ceiling. Reps want something, they are going to have to give something. We are talking of a huge 100 Billion package.

In recent weeks, he’s topped even himself by calling obliquely for the execution of Gen. Mark A. Milley, urging shoplifters to be “shot,” accusing NBC News of “treason,” which is punishable with prison or death, and repeatedly calling the special counsel putting him on trial a “thug.”

How to deal with such an unstoppable force? Two judges have now wrapped gags around Trump’s big mouth in two of the many court cases he faces. In the New York state civil fraud case, Justice Arthur Engoron has barred Trump from making comments about his staff after Trump attacked one of the judge’s clerks in a Truth Social post. Engoron ordered the post taken down (Trump complied) and he has promised sanctions for future offenses. “Consider this statement a gag order,” Engoron said.

Meanwhile, this week in federal court, Judge Tanya Chutkan barred Trump from attacking, intimidating or threatening prospective witnesses (like Milley), court officers and prosecutors. Trump remains free to attack his campaign opponent Joe Biden and the Department of Justice itself, and he has already vowed to appeal the gag order. Should he offend again, sanctions in the form of fines or jail time may ensue.

Something is very wrong when a judge has to give you the order of not threatening witnesses  Huh

Trump does not understand that defendants are supposed to remain quiet and with a low profile, if they want their lawyers to have more chances of getting you out of trouble.

Still, he is one of the leading presidential candidates in this race and he has learnt he needs to be as polemic as possible and belittle others as often as he has the chance, in order to further rally his base and continue to increase his advantage over others, Biden included.

On the other side, he may be getting nervous of some codefendants pleading guilty and further cooperating with investigators to get the other people accused several long time sentences. At this point, he is running for the charge so he won't get himself thrown into a cell.
The United States of America will certainly be at her lower point in politics, if Trump gets back into the White House next year.

Yep. It is not about his politics -  they are not that different from most right-right Republicans and his views are not that special. It is about how he does politics and how he acts like a consented brat name calling the opponents, threatening, etc... You know, who the f*ck threatens the clerk of the courtroom?? or some random person that happened to be counting votes one day??

That is not a proper conduct for a president and is not politics, is not ideas, it is simply misbehaviour.
709  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: October 20, 2023, 02:52:46 PM

There seems to be evidence of 9 helicopters lost in the ATACAMS strike. Ukraine used the "pack 1" with cluster munition, limited range, so it rained small bombs all over the airfield. There seem to be satellite confirmation. I have only seen OSINT, but it is speculated that some of the kills were K52 attack helicopters. This is quite a blow to one of the few strategies that the Ruzzis had left.

ATACAMS are nuisance for Russia for sure, and the loss of the helicopters is not totally trivial.  But it's also not particularly difficult to adapt to the new threat, and experiencing it in action is good data to feed into the development process.

More interesting is to see where the U.S. sets the ante.  These feeds into a calculus about what is 'fair' and what is out-of-bounds when it comes to supplying classes of weapons to proxy forces.  In proxy conflicts the more wide-spread opponent presents a much larger 'attack surface' and they have a natural dis-advantage for this reason.  And the U.S. has very far-flung bases for protecting their empire.

I don't recall the U.S. (through their proxies) using HIMARS or ATACAMS (or stormshadows) inside of the pre-2014 Russian boarders.  Probably the agreement is that comparable Russian equipment supplied to Russia's proxies will not be allowed to attack within formal United States boundaries either.  We'll just have to see how things progress, and who makes the mistake of handing modern weapons AND control over said weapons to nutso coke fiends and people of that ilk.

I do not think is a strategy that Ruzzian Army can adapt to. These choppers were as close to the frontline as possible because they need to act with speed and they need to have as much fuel as possible to hoover and move in the frontline. Now they will need to move very far away, so their capability is diminished no matter what "adaptation" they try. Similar, to a lesser extent, with planes.

To note, US did not officially confirmed the delivery, meaning that Ruzzia does not know either if the next week would be the 320 km range ones. Another strategic problem they cannot adapt to.

About what is fair... well, is a war between Ruzzia and Ukraine, so anything military in Ruzzia and the occupied territories is ok and ready to be blown, why not.

710  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tips on staying responsible. on: October 20, 2023, 02:35:59 PM
Let's discuss the unique challenges of responsible gambling in the world of cryptocurrencies.

Crypto gambling can be fun, but it's important to keep our financial boundaries intact.

Share your tips and thoughts on staying responsible in this digital realm.
The only way to be responsible with online or offline gambling is to never see gambling as a way to make money or become a source of living. One should only gamble for entertainment purposes only , that is to socialize and meet new people around, aside from gambling to relieve one’s stress and frustrations in life. And when you plan to gamble, always set limits for your betting losses that’s why one should only gamble on an amount that he can afford to lose. That is to free yourself from getting financial problems in the future as gambling can definitely put us into a very worst situation when one gambles without self-control and discipline.

Responsible gambling starts within oneself. If you can gamble without compromising other aspects in your life, then you can finally say that you are a responsible gambler.

If you ask me, it is quite the opposite. If you take gambling as a way of making money and you clearly understand that this may only be done in certain games such as poker and never ever by trying to be "smarter" than the house, you can be perfectly responsible about the matter. It is more difficult precisely for people who actually play for ego and is all about how "they feel about it" which is about themselves really.

712  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Flip or Trade? What’s The Bigger Gamble? on: October 19, 2023, 10:13:26 AM
Lost in the whirlwind world of day trading? It often feels like a maze with big folks and their flashy tools, leaving us hoping for a stroke of luck. Imagine ditching the tricky charts for a simple, real coin flip, person vs person, with a fair 50/50 chance. No gimmicks, no house edge, just a clear, honest game.

What’s your take? Does day trading seem more of a gamble compared to a straight-up coin flip
Your chances to meet dinosaur is 50% you can meet it or don`t meet.

Dinosaurs are believed to be extinct so that is a 0% chance of meeting an alive one. or 100% of not meeting one Grin.

There are lots of day traders, but as for - it is difficult to predict small price changes and they mostly testing their luck. I prefer long distance and big price changes - it is possible to predict and difficult to lose, if you good in trading.

Knowledgeable day traders does not depend on luck, they depend on their analysis of the market.  One might not be familiar with technical analysis but is well versed in the market movement of certain stocks or cryptocurrencies.

Hodling is really the best strategy with Bitcoins but it does not secure us 100% profit since the future of Bitcoin is still uncertain.

Traders do not rely on luck... at least to a point. Even some of the ones you can argue as professionals sometimes are using a wrong approach, but they only find out when the loose a huge amount and they do not even get why this has happened. Example: imagine a strategy that works a million times, but will fail one in every million and when that happens you loose everything. I am sure you get it.
713  Economy / Gambling / Re: Casinos not asking for KYC to register and play, but do require it to withdraw on: October 19, 2023, 08:56:41 AM
Casinos try to satisfy their clients but must follow the rules of the regulator, so the casinos change their rules. We must be aware of this, and if we want to avoid following the new rules of the casino, we can move to another more friendly casino. It is our choice to stay or look for another casino, and the casino will not force us to stay just because the casino wants to retain its customers.

Exactly, instead of complaining, why waste time on that? Just move on and look for other casinos. KYC is already implemented in most legitimate casinos, so we should always be aware of that. They might not require it at the beginning, but eventually, they'll ask for KYC information, and as usual, gamblers need to comply to continue enjoying gambling. With a huge number of online casinos, we do have plenty of options, but are they all reputable?

The risk of transferring between different casinos, some of which may not be so reputable, is that you might avoid KYC, but you'll likely face a higher risk of losing your money in the process. We need to be realistic about this matter, as regulators have already made their presence felt in the crypto gambling space.

The fact is that T&C may be just to difficult to understand, so even if they put a KYC first, then you still may be subject to some conditions for the withdrawal that you may not be be happy with. There best way is to check for reputation and go to sites that only use plain English or plain language in general Terms and Conditions. If you cannot understand something, do not sign to it.
714  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Advice when you are going a bit far in gaming and betting on: October 19, 2023, 08:40:23 AM
<...>
-snip- The first thing you must realize is that you can’t get rich gambling. Gambling will always be a 50/50 chance and winning is not guarantee or sure. Challenge yourself, not everyone pays their bill on time. Work on shaping up your financial life. Set a few goals, if you make them, you will get the same rush you did in gambling. A win is a win. Then you will find it easier to stay on the same track. Focus on what you want and find another direction to try and achieve it. Gambling is recreational, you don’t get rich. -snip-
Your knowledge of gambling addiction's roots is excellent. Yes, it's a mental compulsion that explores our emotional vulnerabilities - boredom, stress, and dissatisfaction. It's more than throwing dice or pressing a slot lever - it's a yearning. This is the crucial question: Why is acceptance so hard for many? Why do people deny everything when they're about to lose it? It's time folks face their demons and admit their problems.

I completely agree with your view of gambling as a hobby rather than a means to wealth. People must realize there's no jackpot at the end of this rainbow. The cycle of wins and loses, highs and lows continues. Financial stability, planning, and control are the ultimate joys. Real-life goals are worth more than a win. Let your adrenaline kicks come from real-world challenges and triumphs. Always remember the house win.

Your answer is very interesting, too from the psychological perspective. I'm not an expert but I know that people usually believe what they want to believe, and nobody likes his "shadow", quoting Jung.

The level of self-consciousness and humility to admit one's flaws is really high, and most of us mortals struggle with it because of our own Egos. That's why external help is needed in most of the cases, because others can clearly see what one often denies.

I agree, btw, that satisfaction from real-world triumphs can be so high as the ones you get with any addiction, but after reaching certain point one needs to detoxify from certain practices and substances in order to start enjoying these more natural pleasures again.

Let's face it, not all gamblers out there have a good grip on life. I guess that is not that different from other people that are not gamblers and do not either have a good hold on their life, but when you are gambling for fun it may be easier for them to go past the line because they have other problems around - family, money, work, relations,... All that ends up reflected in their playing.
715  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: October 19, 2023, 08:32:03 AM
Quite credible in my view. I recently posted that this capability was being requested because the Ukrainian army had already objectives in mind, that they could see and wanted to blow up.

It turns out that they have chosen wisely: military objectives (it would have been easy to "take revenge"), high value targets but, above all, those weapons platforms that Ruzzia was using to good effect and with minimal probabilities of getting hit back. Now Ruzzian planes will have to retreat further east, but also will the helicopters that require to be close to the front to be best use. The ATACAMS is "cheap enough" to be used for a plane or a helicopter, which Stormshadows were not.

This will be effective to further demilitarise Ruzzia but also I guess that now the Ruzzi pilots will be wondering what may happen right the moment they land back from a mission if the base in range of ATACAMS. It could be their last mission.
Yeah, it's much cheaper than Storm Shadow, but seems that Ukraine so far only got old version of ATACMS. On remains of missile it was visible that it was made in 1996. So, it means that range of it is 160 km and doesn't reach whole Donbas and Crimea. But Ukraine used it before it was officially announced that they got missiles, so, I think it's only matter of time when they will got newer modifications, maybe it's already delivered.

Edited: There seems to be a river crossing by Ukraine. Let's see how far it develops.
Something is really happening on left bank of Dnipro:

Not a single word spoken in this cartoon video, Tom und Jerry next.

I like this one better, it does not needs words either. I propose that you guess what, when and how was hit yesterday.

No? not yet? It is ATACAMS hitting a bunch of helicopters deep inside occupied territory. Now, go back to publish cartoons, it is your thing. Others will get the shrapnel up their arses while you pretend to be cynic or funny here.

Edited: There seems to be a river crossing by Ukraine. Let's see how far it develops.

Yes, and you would be at war with half of the world. Is not resolve or contention, it is a calculated non-escalation because escalating gets Putin killed, their military damaged beyond repair and the Ruzzian regime gone. But that is one of the many things that you will never understand.

Noone will sacrifice to "save" Ukraine. Noone.
Otherwise you would be long ago in some trench in Ukraine.
Instead you write nonsense on almost dead forum

As usual, you cannot write 4 lines an make sense. If the forum is dead why are you writing?

Branko, you are arguing against the facts (nothing surprising there). Putin has not escalated, there is a reason for it and is well know. I mean, well known to anyone who bothers to read the news from time to time, not you.

Nuclear escalation is a loosing game for Ruzzia not because "other will sacrifice", it is precisely because others are not willing to accept the sacrifice: US and NATO have already stated that a nuke in Ukraine or even letting a nuclear reactor blow has a massive chance of creating a radiation cloud that would reach NATO countries. NATO has made it clear that it would be considered a nuclear attack on NATO and grant proportional response. To be more precise US mentioned that their response would not be nuclear, but would be devastating.

This is the reason why Putin has "chosen" not to escalate.

Time to re-visit this brilliant work piece of art from Jan 2023.  We have officially hit the 2:12 mark.

Not viewable in my country because of hate and stuff

I can see it in all my countries - I wonder why? It is the US "feeding Ukraine" as if it were a pig. Just a piece of propaganda, nothing that has any reasoning or argument behind.

Regarding the "mark"... well, you mean the 0:19 mark? Like... from 3 days to 19 months?

Ukraine finally received ATACMS missiles and they already used it in attacks on Russian air bases in occupied Luhansk and Berdyansk. And seems attacks were successful, significant amount of helicopters and jets were destroyed or damaged. Z channels is already crying about it.

I admire the resolve of Russia. At this stage, if it were me, I would have used nukes long ago. But Russia is for the salvation of the world rather than the destruction of it.

These cockfighting superstitions are  fallacy.  There are no proven statistics that prove that these superstitions really work.  Even my relative who used to raise fighting fowl has his own superstition but in the end stopped because most of his fowl lost.
I really don’t understand how these superstitions goes,
What is it about them? Like is it what you tell yourself or some phrase you get to repeat over and over before taking a bet or engaging your animals in such activity to make money off them and eventually turn them to food?

I see a lot of animal cruelty in that and don’t or wouldn’t want to encourage any form of cockfighting. Come on?
Everything could be simulated in this day? Why do we have to put these animals through these.

I’m not a veggie or anything but, I was thought not to play with good, let alone to gamble on them. Just eat the damned thing and get your gambling on a sportbookie or casino.

Well the fact that there is already plenty of animal cruelty does not seem like a good argument to further encourage more animal cruelty in my humble view. Traditions are often cruel, but, you see, the uses of humanity change with time: witches were burnt, people crucified and newborns given to the wolves, not to mention the Aztecs killing humans for the gods. There is no need to continue things that one thinks wrong.

^^^ Over the years there have been many groups that have come into the US as spies or to subvert the country. Even German spies during WW2, and Russian spies, later, became Americans when they saw what a wonderful country it is here. The problem isn't the Hamas coming up over the border (or down from Canada). The problem is the criminals in Washington and the Federal Reserve Bank, who are destroying the USA. And the problem is the stupidity of the common people who can't see what is going on, and are letting them destroy the USA.

Understand what time it is in America – our lives are closer to Russia under Stalin, Cuba under Castro, China under Mao or Venezuela under Maduro than we are to the Constitution

The Democrats are making no effort to hide their totalitarian impulses. Certainly, Hillary Clinton isn’t. In an interview last week with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour, she suggested that Trump supporters were part of a cult and needed formal deprogramming.

Ironic take.  Stalin, Castro and Mao were able to consolidate massive amounts of power because they had a cult like following from their extremely loyal base.  That's really what you need to achieve that kind of power - someone with a personality that creates blind loyalty.

Luckily the Trump movement only seems to attract the lower 20th percentile IQ wise, which is a significant handicap for him compared to Stalin or Castro.

At this point Trump is only about those who willingly choose to believe whatever he says no-matter-what is out there. Anything that goes against Trumps lies is "partisan", anything that makes him responsible is "whichunting", anything in his own party that does not follow the line is "not American". At this points, I am wondering what the US educational system - which seems to be basically movies and twitter - has done to a generation.

The dumbest of the dumb are convinced that they are actually smarter than the rest because they have "information" that others don't. I guess it is too sad to simply accept the truth - You are gullible, know little about the world and most of the things you believe are seriously and obviously wrong.
