1541  Economy / Economics / Re: Russian Gas ban - A problem for Europe or suicide for Russia? on: September 15, 2022, 11:38:26 PM
In short Indians are suffering as a result of proxy war between US and Iran. Electricity bills are going up everywhere are yours is not an isolated scenario. Fortunately, here in India we didn't closed down all of our coal and nuclear powerplants as demanded by loonies such as Greta Thunberg.

Can't say how much India is suffering but Pakistan is suffering alot even though its sitting very next to world largest oil and gas reserve country. Buying expensive LNG from Qatar instead of cheap Iran gas, producing expensive electricity from furnace oil but not willing to buy cheap Iran Electricity. All this is because of USA sanctions on Iran and also forcing other countries not to trade with Iran.
Now Europe is facing energy crisis and they must thank USA for that. Just like we are suffering.

US politics are usually terrible for other countries. Their national interest is always put before anything and more worrying - before anyone. They do have a long tradition of not caring at all for anything other that the electoral results. In the case of Iran sanctions, it must be noted that Iran is trying to arm themselves with atomic bombs. No wonder they are sanctioned.
1542  Economy / Gambling discussion / When betting becomes to high on: September 15, 2022, 11:35:32 PM
Have you ever had an experience betting in which you knew that you were going over the limits of you finances and still continued? I have one playing a game, it was absorbing plenty of my time and despite me knowing it, I was kind of hooked on it. It was not a financial problem, but left me wondering how easy is to actually fall into a bad habit and how difficult is to break it.
1543  Economy / Gambling / Re: 1 - The copycat epidemic within crypto casinos. on: September 15, 2022, 11:32:40 PM
Differenciation in general is difficult to find everywhere. It would seem that everything is now created to satisfy and algorithm that makes everything out there, including casinos but also all websites, all videos and even movies look pretty much like each other. It is like the guy who said that if people want to buy Coke, I am not going to sell them Pepsi. It kills innovation.
1544  Economy / Gambling / Re: Vulnerabilities in gambling websites in past on: September 15, 2022, 11:30:11 PM
usually business owners or gambling site owners will continue to develop the site's platform in order to increase the security of the company.
so all gamblers who are in the gambling will no longer doubt the security of the gambling platform.
and i myself sometimes have doubts about some gambling sites that have no purpose to develop these sites to increase the safety and comfort of the gamblers who are in them.
Then such sites are to be beware of, yet I doubt if this is particularly true. Many gambling sites might be nonchalant truly, yet many sites are working underground but might seem not so to everyone. You might not know because it is not about the appearance that you will recognise the updates and security features put in place by the owner of the sites. The internet is susceptible to attacks at any time, and if anyone has any reason to believe security is lacking with their betting companies, he/she can switch to another.

I have this assurance that no one is tied to a particular gambling site provided that you're not receiving upto expectation from them in their services, there are a large number of casinos that want to come out shinning and have been putting in consideration many implementation to help them able to achieve that, that's why some casinos only bears name and past reputation but they don't seat to come up with something new for it gamblers, even if at least just a change on the theme and home display of the casino website goes along way to entice the gambler and to make them believe they are working something new and more are still coming.

But that continuous movement creates a continuous need of re-programming and re-desing. Doing a proper audit on the code is critical and that is also a quite expensive undertaking for the company. In my view, innovation introduction has to be carefully planned to avoid introducing bugs or even maliciously prepared code inserted in the platform.
1545  Economy / Gambling / Re: My list of good crypto casinos on: September 15, 2022, 11:27:53 PM
Not a single one of your "good crypto casinos" on your list is even remotely popular. I think you are being paid to advertise random casinos on your website (or perhaps they belong to you) and to be honest, your list seems not only a bit suspicious because of the fact that you needed to link an external website even though you could have just posted a list on this thread but also the fact that I have never even heard of the online gambling casinos (nor mostly anyone else here) that you are attempting to endorse. Could you elaborate on these two points just to clarify things, in case I am getting ahead of myself?

I hope you understand that this is a subforum of experienced veteran gamblers who know which sites are good and we have already made our own lists?

Everyone is free to add their own names to the list, I do not think the guy is going to get much of just posting - would be very little and made little sense. However I agree that the list is fishy at best. My contribution is about the one I am sponsored by, Playbetr that is a proper casino with a long history of delivering service and a long standing presence in the forum.
1546  Economy / Gambling / Re: The History Of Gambling. on: September 15, 2022, 11:25:45 PM
That is known to everyone that gambling addicts need more money to gamble and there they have two options. Some of them lend and borrow money in order to gamble while more criminal minded people do anything illegal to get the money for gambling. In both cases, we never know if those gamblers were able to recover their money and made a profit out of it. Steps like these will make them lose more and eventually they will have no option left but to suicide.

I have heard many stories about people making money by criminal means. Very often they try to lose this money in casinos. Stolen money is easy to get and easy to get away with. The sooner the criminal gets rid of the extra money, the less trouble he will have with the law.

That makes absolutely no sense. They are not trying to "get rid" of their money, it is called money laundering. In effect, money laundering is when a person or entity seeks to mask the source of money obtained through illegal activities by moving it into assets and investments that are considered to be legal.

Here is a hypothetical scenario. What if you made illegal money through cybercrime, white collar crime, stolen property sales etc. and then you go to play roulette at your favorite casino. The possibility is that you will lose many times but you will win at some point and the money you win will no longer be connected to criminal activities, and no one will ever know the real source of your money. As the casino has no way to track the origin of your money, it will definitely let you cash out your legally earned winnings.

Yep, loosing is not really the objective, unless the casino actually belongs to the same organisation and then it is the perfect excuse to get money. In any case money laundering through playing seems a bit expensive. I do not play that game, so I do not really know the rates being paid, but it would seem that a casino would likely take half of it so...
1547  Economy / Gambling / Re: What is a game you would like to see in an online crypto casino? on: September 15, 2022, 11:23:54 PM
There are two things that come to mind, the first one is a very typical Spanish game called "mus" that is played in pairs, usually just 4 people and is played with just 4 cards each and has four rounds with different rules. This games is said to be originally from the north of Spain, in the Basque country. Another game I would like to be on is chess, believe it or not, but not the standard chess, just short versions.
1548  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Queen Dies at the age of 96 on: September 15, 2022, 11:21:29 PM
The Kings and Queens of England are just the rich guy in town. A hereditary privilege that is pretty much senseless on a modern democracy. Now, if you have to live with it, at least they should be providing the right level of service for the immense privileges they have (the land and properties of the Crown are beyond measure). Elizabeth did provide such a service most of the times... Charles III has failed even before commencing.
1549  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: September 13, 2022, 10:37:53 PM
If the war ends, Ukraine will join the Nato and earn support payments to rebuild its economy due to the fact, that the EU is depending on ukrainian goods such as wheat and oil.

Isnt NATO representatives already claimed that Ukraine is not ready for joining NATO, as Ukraine does not fully meet European standards yet? I am a bit far from Ukraine joining NATO discussion, but last thing I remembered, was there several months ago there was a meeting of NATO countries and it seems they are not waiting for Ukraine in their union. As to wheat and oil - does Ukraine support Europe that much, that Europe would give billions to rebuild destroyed economy? Europe is not short of wheat deliveries from Ukraine, but so far there is no such huge shortage and wheat crisis in Europe, that will make people crazy.

There is no such thing as standards for a country to join NATO. Ive been to Albania and Macedonia many times, these are great countries, but if we consider the reasons for accepting them into NATO, it has nothing to do with thefact that they suddenly began to meet some standards. This is a purely political decision. If there is a decision your accepted, no decision your not. If such a decision is made, Angola will be in NATO within a month.
When the war ends, Ukraine should offer NATO to join Ukraine. Insisting on some reforms within NATO, for example, throwing the fuck out Hungary would be definitely one of them. Germany doesn't have shit so need to get rid of it too.

>does Ukraine support Europe that much
You don't understand the major point. In fact, Europe owes Ukrainians all the things and without any conditions. Because democratic societies, unlike authoritarian ones, depend on their own rhetoric. If they said "Never again", they should prove it. If they said that democracy and values are important, they should prove it. Otherwise, the line between Putin's rubbish and the proud statements of the West is blurred.

This reminds me of a sentence by Groucho Marx: "I would neve join a club that accepts me as a member". Jokes apart, NATO is an strategic alliance and there is not a formal criteria but there are some things that need to be considered:
- Does the country joining have a decent weapons or army spending or are they counting on NATO defending "for free"?
- Is there an strategic advantage in the location? Will the country accept bases?
- Is there a regime that can be trusted (to a level at least)?

And a very important one: Can NATO, in case of an attack, really commit to protecting said country?

Kremlin is running out of fake news. They're replaying their greatest (i.e. most absurd) hits now.

August 7:

In the Mykolaiv region, Russian troops destroyed an arsenal with 45,000 tons of ammunition supplied to the Ukrainian army by NATO countries, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

September 12:

An ammunition depot with 45,000 tons of ammunition of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was destroyed near the settlement of Voznesensk, Mykolaiv region, the Defense Ministry said.

45 thousand tons, twice LOL. Fucking morons can't even math.

45,000 tons of ammunition that's a pretty solid amount. I think if such a depot really exploded, the blast wave would reach Australia

A small atomic bomb is just 10 tons equivalent, so yes.. as usual, "informing" is cheap, but does not change reality.
1550  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: September 12, 2022, 10:42:47 PM
There is something going on, despite the lack of official coverage my take is that we will see filtrations along the next week, nothing clear, always from intelligence sources that may as well be disinforming. This brings another question: What happens if Putin is demoted? Or, to make it more clear, who the f*ck is now in changer of the "red button" and are they any more trustworthy than Adolf Putin?

Anyone who managed to stay around Putin after 20+ years of his paranoid regime must be as much or more of a psychopath than himself. But I don't think he'll get demoted by his comrades. They all have a lot to lose if the regime falls apart and not much to gain.

Like any leader in history, he is only as good as the loyalty that inspires. In his case, said loyalty is based on fear and on corruption and mafia. If the psychos that support Adolf Putin no longer get what they want ...

Anyway, our friend be.open has now the occasion to learn what is actually a full collapse of a front. See, what happened in Popasna is not, what is happening in Kharkiv Oblast is. Do you notice the difference in speed and results? Throw a missile to that.

Desperate Russian Terrorist Forces are bombing power plants now. As if there are no more military objectives for them, just destroy everything they can on the way out.

Meanwhile in Russia itself:

The Ferris wheel "Sun of Moscow" is not working now [...]. The press service of the attraction said that it operates in a "limited mode" in order to exclude a "mass influx of visitors." The Ferris wheel was opened by Russian President Vladimir Putin on the evening of September 10.

[...]

As the Telegram channel “Caution, Moscow” reported, after the opening on September 10, the Ferris wheel worked with malfunctions. Muscovites reported that the attraction stopped moving, because of which visitors got stuck at a height of 140 m.

"Sun of Moscow" is the largest Ferris wheel in Europe.

Superpower in a nutshell.

I have read in some media that there are actually serious protests against Putin, publicly and from relevant politicians in St Petersburg and even Moscow. For now I class this as rumours but these have not published before. The disconnect between Putin and the real needs of the RF citizens, particularly the younger ones and those who have not a direct connection with the apparatchiks.

I thought this was very difficult, but it may actually lead Putin and his Psychos to a full withdrawal... or a withdrawal from the world of the living depending on how bad it goes.

I don't know why, but water in Donetsk dissaperead after the war started. Before everything was fine with it. But again, this is funny that "second worlds superpower" (as russians like to descrive themselves) can't provide water in already like 7 months.

Weren't they getting the water from the Ukrainian side all those years and not bothering to establish their own wells/pumps/reservoirs etc? I thought that's what happened and then they started the invasion in February thinking "well take Kyiv in 3 days so why bother planning ahead".

Anyway, I found the secret plan of Kherson counteroffensive, now it all makes sense, doesn't it:

Dam it! Those are the ones I left over the garden table at Mar-a-Lago! You are the gardener, aren't you?

Oh, if you like stories, I think you will be glad to know that Putin as signed as the new Marlborough Man now that he is about to be demoted.

1554  Economy / Economics / Re: ECB lifts rates by unprecedented 75 bps on: September 09, 2022, 12:31:28 PM
I think btc would probably slump a bit based on the news of this and how it plays out but it'll probably respond similar to some stocks and rally after it (interest rates are normally only high when they need to be afaik so they'll probably be lowered within a year or two and most markets can continue in their current direction).

Is this the first rate hike from the ecb though? I don't think I've heard of one before this over the past 6 months and it looks quite a dramatic start (although maybe I've missed some news before).

Yep you have missed the news, there was a previous rate hike of half a point. The bank is taking very seriously not just the inflation but what the FED is doing and what the US is doing in respect to the Euro (basically eating it alive). The commitment as you say seems strong, like a signal to the market that they care more about macroeconomics than about the situation of people in Europe.
1555  Economy / Economics / Re: Age as a factor depreciating some people of their dreams on: September 09, 2022, 12:28:14 PM
Sometimes being too old is just true. It does not mean that you cannot accomplish or learn, it means that the value is inevitably less because you will not use as much any new learnt skill, simply because you have less life time to do so. You of course can go to university with 70 years if you want, but you have little time left and possibly little chance to put that effort to good use.
1556  Economy / Economics / Re: Ocean Shipping Rates May Never Return To Pre Pandemic Levels on: September 09, 2022, 12:24:31 PM
They eventually do. Shipping is a very classic example of a cyclic sector and does go down and also up. The reason is that when prices become sufficiently attractive, other competitors will build ships and everything will stabilise or go opposite direction eventually. Now, the cycle is usually very long and the price includes a heavy exposure to bunker fuel, which is a product of refining.

Fossil fuel prices must return to pre pandemic levels for shipping costs to stabilize.

High fossil fuel costs, shipping costs, place china's export market in jeopardy.

The container ship industry is operating at a loss. As the airline industry has since 2020. While the graph charts appear tenable on the surface. They are not long term sustainable.

Markets won't wait for issues to be resolved. They're scrambling to find local alternatives closer to home.

Globalization and global markets are at stake. If anyone cares.

It is said that the remedy for high prices is high prices. Markets do go through turbulent times from time to time, it is just the way the cycle is, but it is self correcting. In the long term, the dependency on fossil fuels is diminished and countries tend to look for alternatives. It should have never happened with proper planning (e.g. Germany not depending so much on gas from RF) but it will pass.

This is not surprising comming from the most progressive estate in US. However it is not really new in the world, as, for  example, the UK and others have been analysing and making public the information about pay disparity across many factors since a long time ago. Still, the measures that can be taken are usually limited as the market sets salaries.
1559  Economy / Economics / Re: Working hours | How many are too many? on: September 08, 2022, 11:59:43 PM
It depends a lot on your work and if you really enjoy it. Some jobs are so mechanical that even doing it for one hour is inhuman and only apt for those who can't choose. However, it has been known that many professionals do enjoy their jobs up to the point that they do not want to quit under any circumstance, so you can see teachers and other working hours and hours.
1560  Economy / Gambling / Re: Vulnerabilities in gambling websites in past on: September 08, 2022, 11:57:15 PM
Well, if the exploit works and deprives casino customers of their funds, then it seems that the shares of the casino itself will no longer be worth anything, it's another matter if the casino has a sufficient reserve fund to cover the damage from hacker attacks and this does not necessarily mean investing in shares.
Getting bankrupt would really be depending on the funds been remained since there are casinos which does have cold wallets and doesnt store up all of their funds on casinos hot wallet
which does means that whenever they do get hacked fully or huge damage on lost funds then they would totally goes down compared into those platforms/casinos
who stored up their revenue on cold wallets which they do really have chance on have some recovery after the hacking or exploit.
It does really vary on the situation.

That is why many casinos take the option of having their funds very safe in cold wallets, some make the same strategies that consist of putting their money there and then that the players play with local money from the same casino so that there is no problem with real money, usually there are few casinos that do this type of practice because the security to put it in the same casino must be very high, you cannot risk so much money so that a hacker with a lot of skill can access and take all the money, this is something that everyone is careful about, for that reason I think that's a very smart way to protect yourself.

Yes, it is normal to take all short of precautions, although I think that many of the so called "hacks" are really people who setup the site and the do an exit scam of some short. Crypto and safety are a difficult match, casinos are just like any other site and anyone should consider what are the risks involved not only with the betting, but with where you bet.
