@Branko

I just saw a video that may make you reconsider if the RF has anything to do with you beloved anti-capitalist figthers.

https://youtu.be/ZAMz5kgb7V4

Income inequality is Moskva size compared to a boat.

I keep reading in the lamestream media about 'Biden warns Putin that use of nukes in Ukraine would be a mistake' and blah, blah, blah.  This is utterly absurd of course as there is no need and no benefit to Russia in doing so, and no indication that there is any danger of this.  ALL we seem to have is endless nonsense along these lines in the Western media echo-chamber.

What would be amusing would be if Putin would warn that 'it would be a mistake for Biden to consort with Martians.'  Repeat it over and over again and let it bounce around in the media and social media echo chamber ad-nausium.  Whenever possible even official figures would, when confronted with ridiculous assertions about Russia's first use of nukes from the West, countered with this or some other absurdity on the sole basis that 'it is all over the media' and point out that actual evidence or logic is unnecessary because it's 'in the news.'

Ahhh.... so it is the west who is saying that Putin is using the "N" word... there is nothing real to it? Nothing like Adolf Putin broadcasting an staged meeting with his Chief Psychos telling them to "ready the nuclear forces" nor any program in RF TV where commentators or opinion wannabe leaders speaking about how RF could use the "N" weapons?

You mean is all an invention from the west? Nothing like prime time news Dmitry Kiselyov depicting how the UK would look after an "N" attack. You trolls need to do much much better.

https://youtu.be/YyhTw-ZHTiE?t=36

https://youtu.be/Bn0XfCYhd2U

Any mention of the "N" word is a serious threat, it is not something you mention to your friends over a cup of vodka and has in itself diplomatic weight. There is no other use for it. There is no other point in showing a Satan in a parade.

As of now, there is far too much use of the "N" word in the RF. It could be because internally reinforces the Kremlin narrative of "being the victim and under attack" (ridiculous at it sounds) while "being strong" and "a culture" (even more ridiculous. Killing is not a culture, and destroying is a sign of weakness).
1462  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: October 25, 2022, 08:52:40 PM
I heard some commentator say the Russians could be drawing not only Ukraine but allied forces into a trap and that there could be some type of nuclear incident by either side to provoke allied troops to cross the border into Ukraine but then they would most likely be met with a full nuclear response within the borders of Ukraine which would not legally trigger article 5 or something to this effect.Does anyone think this is a possibility or would the Russians foolishly use a nuclear weapon in Ukraine. After all Ukraine is also bordering their country and the fallout would affect them too not to mention the possibility of a full scale invasion of Russia as a response. This then would start a global nuclear war. This is getting very dangerous and only a fool would imagine it won't affect them because they are on the other side of the planet. If a nuclear war starts we will all be dead or dying within 24 hours and that includes most of us on this thread Sad

Noone, and I mean NOONE would use anything but strongly worded letters, more sanctions and more weapons sent to Ukraine as response
for tactical nukes. There are other considerations preventing Russia from using it

That does not seem what the US ambassador declared on the matter. They did declare that the answer would not be nuclear, but would be devastating. He was not talking about sanctions.

In any case, tactical nukes would not be a good idea. Firstly, most countries in the world would have at least some shift against RF, I thinking China, India. The "N" word is a hated one. Second, the land would be basically be left radioactive and, depending on the winds, it could spread to other countries. One thing is to send Chernobyl radiation to Europe, a different think on-purpose made toxic clouds.

But even if all that is overseen, the effectiveness of tactical nukes is not that great.

Should we just pretend by closing our eyes that the only affected region is Germany, the whole world is in ransom presently and the inflation has been getting more overcoming edge than expected in tackling it, the value of commodities in the market remains the same but their prices have over jumped up to a certain limit beyond correction, making available an alternatives on the demands on this items is a good option and this can be achieved through diversification, reduced import level and encourage every homemade finished products.

Spot on. In fact the EU including Germany are affected, but have plenty of resources and political influence to short the issue. The problem comes when India and Germany are bidding for the same gas tanker (sorry India) or Somalia (on the verge of a massive famine) and Italy are bidding for the same cargo of grain. That is the real consequence of Adolf Putin's war - the poor perish without a cause.
1464  Economy / Economics / Re: Food prices in Germany - Tell me what you want to know on: October 25, 2022, 10:34:09 AM
Oh, those claims are true in any manner please let me know. I know of a few EU countries that will send it over gladly. In the places I have been everything is well supplied and you can pretty much buy anything that you could before the war, albeit a bit more expensive - nothing that would make people not buy.

I guess the RF must be doing great as well, you see, people are queuing in the borders surely to do some tourism in Georgia and Turkey.

When I read the news that the Ukrainian army is unable to repel the attacks of the drones that Russia acquired from Iran, it becomes clear to me that the Ukrainian surface-to-air defenses are very weak or non-existent at all....

Sure, that is why the SUs and MIG are all over Ukraine supporting the ground forces -  Except for the fact that they are absolutely absent since day 0. RF air superiority, which was taken for granted even by Ukraine allies has proven to be non-existant. It is just another of the myths about the RF army that have been vanished after this botched aggression that has benefited only the US.

Russia is using drones and missiles, many of which are intercepted and many of which are inaccurate to the point of being useless because they cannot risk planes and pilots to missions in a relatively well defended sky. Trying to win a war by cutting civilians from water, electricity, hospitals and schools is useless.

Its not useless, as UK/US "Shock and awe" proved in Iraq...its just that Russia was for some reason reluctant to use it at start
...

They were not willing to use it because they wanted to take a country just by walking in. Does that solve to you the why? Now they are ok with destroying anything they cannot take, and even for that it seems they somehow are not achieving exceptional results.

Shock and awe was to a scale 20 times bigger than anything the RF could field even before the start of the war, when they still had some of the better weapons platforms operative and in, to a point, in enough quantity. US employed proper cruise missiles (504) and around 1200  proper warplane sorties. It was delivered in a very short period of time and against a country that did not have proper air defences to compete with US.

But even after such a concentrated attack, the war ended up in cleaning Fallujah and Saadr City house by house, street by street and never being able to pacify Irak. Is that how good looks like to you?

So now that Ukraine destroyed more than 4000 out of those 3000, there are no tanks on Russian side of battlefield?

In your haste to make shit up you may have overdone it a little bit. Ukraine claims to have destroyed or captured ~2500 (Oryx confirmed ~1400).

Russia has been taking tanks from Lukashenko and also bringing rusty "unpickled" T62s to the war zone - I doubt they'd do that if they didn't have severe shortages.

I guess you cannot recruit a tank by force, like the slave orcs being sent to the front under threat.

<...>
Russia has issued a grim warning to the rest of the world: World War III is all but guaranteed if Ukraine’s Western allies continue to meddle in their ongoing conflict. Specifically, a top Kremlin official threatened worldwide destruction should NATO approve Ukraine’s request to join the organization. <...>

Of course, the threat of a nuclear conflict should not be underestimated, but I do not think that there are suicide bombers in the Kremlin or the Pentagon who are ready to destroy themselves and the whole world in a fiery hell. And even if there are such rabid psychopaths in the highest positions, they are more likely to be neutralized by people from their environment who want to live. However, while European leaders are now methodically killing the economies of their states and escalating the conflict more and more at the instigation of the USA, the confidence that a global war between East and West can be avoided is fading before our eyes.

paxmao, when you describe the concept of "legal annexation", what relevant international legal documents did you follow so that I could also get acquainted with them?

In the course of your comment, I had a few questions. If you don't mind, please answer them. I have put my questions in brackets in your quote.

Legal annexation could potentially be if, after a long period of peace (How many months or years exactly?), a referendum with all guarantees (What are these guarantees and who provides them?), time to put forward arguments against and in favour (Who chooses such time?) and abundant international observers (How many observers should be there and who should appoint them?) is held among the inhabitants of a region a a majority decides that they want to join a different state.

According to the definition of "annexations" which I found, they are illegal.

Code:
<...>F.  Evaluation
38  Under present international law, annexations are illegal since they are incompatible with the most fundamental rule
on the prohibition of any threat or use of force. As such, they do not result in a lawful title to territory. All States are
under a legal obligation not to recognize annexations and their consequences as lawful. They may, however, give some
de facto recognition to unlawful annexations in order to accommodate adequately the needs of the inhabitants of the
annexed territory. There are good reasons to consider the prohibition of annexations and the obligation not to recognize
them and their consequences as lawful as rules of customary international law with the rank of ius cogens.

It is much better understood if one thinks of a referendum of independence of which there are a few cases.

Regarding referendums, there is an interesting post with some historical data confirming that the countries of the so-called collective West (led by the US and UK) are ready to recognize or not recognize the results of referendums, only when they get benefits from it.

Source in Russian

* Updated quote from Encyclopedia of Public International Law on Annexation

...

Pretty much all irrelevant to the case. Adolf Putin ordered a few fakeferedums to make annexations as something demanded by the population. It is impossible for a population to express a will a gunpoint. Trying to pass the the illegal (thanks) annexations as something demanded by the population, but is simply impossible to recognise in the middle of a war, mass graves, killing and soldiers forcing people to vote. For those who want to understand, it is fairly simple.

As for you legal quotes ... well, sure... all annexations are illegal. No problem is that is what you are trying to prove?? So that would include the recent ones by Adolf Putin, sure, thanks - illegal they are - pretty much my point.

It is very clear for whoever wants to understand - for a change is the status of a region you would allow people to express views, pros and cons openly and in peace and then let the majority decide. It does not matter if it is one month, or two months or a year, it is about a large majority of countries and institutions considering the polling and campaigning free and pacific (pacific enough sometimes).

Is it relative? Yes. Does anything fly as you suggest? No, it does not. There is a minimum. Times are changing so much (thanks Trump, Boris, Putin, Xi,...) that is easy to put everything into doubt and make facts appear as "maybes" and you are just trying to relativize and put forward some legal opinions as if that was an exact science - it is not. The citizens of a territory can chose to organise themselves however they please, and that could be joining an existing country or abandoning an existing one.

If you are here to argue about semantics just do not use "annexation", but rather voluntarily joining or voluntary union  - short of what happens when a country joins the EU (and that sometimes is without referendum).  Does secession or annexation always require a referendum... I would say that it would also be acceptable that a government elected with full democratic guarantees and a program of claiming secession clearly expressed would be valid.

Now, all the whattabout:

- Catalonia held a referendum that did not have any guarantee so it was not accepted by any country in EU, nor US, nor pretty much anyone. It was very clear that it did not have the basics. Apart, is well known that of the four regions of Catalonia, two (including the capital Bacelona!) are not in favour of secession.

- The referendum on independence of Scotland, agreed with the UK government, resulted on a no. It did have all guarantees.

- Referendums in the old USSR were probably not required by the existing law (the USSR law did allow secession as far as I know). If you want to argue that they were illegal you would need something more that just saying so and if you are trying to make them like a "west" doing you would also need some evidence. No wonder you are using a source in Russian  Grin

BTW, please see here a list of countries that declared their independence from UK. Do you think the west did accept these just for benefit?.

Following you argument, who in their right would try to stop NATO on a battlefield. When you get to war like this is because you have already failed in using soft power.

Its impossible to win using soft power when other side own world money printing machine
...

Again, and just for the shake of following your logic - not agreeing with it - it is impossible to win in a battlefield when the opposing party controls the money printing machine, has a larger, better trained and better equipped army and is not sending their own to die, but rather arming another country.

Perhaps one could conclude that Adolf Putin's RF is throwing a very expensive and deadly tantrum.

Fortunately, Ukraine does not have an effective air defense system.

...

More than half of the incoming attacks are being shot down. Those numbers are likely to increase once Germany sends their systems and the US sends the AMRAAM based systems (kind of cheap, effective and with a virtually unlimited supply of spares).

The reason Adolf Putin has to throw expensive and many time inaccurate missiles is precisely because the airspace dominance has been denied by the effectiveness of the Ukrainian defence and, to be fair, by corruption, incompetence and lack of real resources from the RF since day 1.
1469  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which Game Have You Won The Most From And How Much In Total? on: October 21, 2022, 12:21:30 AM
1. Do you believe there are some games that carry ill luck with them, that no matter how long and how much the player wager, he or she never win significant amount of money?

The winnings depend on the max win available in the game.  I don't believe that some games carry ill luck.  The result of any gambling game is random so we only rely on the possible chance we can get a huge win.  Other games have low RTP and others have high volatility, so this affects the result of the game.

2. Which game have you won the most amount of money from?, and how much in total did you win from that game?
Maybe you can also mention the game provider(Pragmatic, Evolution   etc.) so we can search for the game on our respective casinos and try it out.

The game I won the most is from Dice.  Winning the jackpot twice with a total of more than 1.2xx BTC (0.97BTC on the first win + 0.3xx BTC on the 2nd win.  It was a dice game from fortuneJack.

I play few games myself, an rarely dice for fun, however Poker among friends sometimes yields good results. It is very rare that I make more than 10 USD, but once  I woun a predition game about a football game Madrid-Barca and that really made my day as my colleages had to pay for my drinks during that day. I think that I got around 100 euro out of the bet  Grin
1470  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Parents And Their Children In Gambling.. on: October 21, 2022, 12:18:59 AM
Perhaps the best advice if your child has started to get involved in online gambling is just not to spare your time and sit next to him at the computer and give at least some comments on his game.  It is clear that for you it is usually boring and uninteresting.  But getting the child out of this dangerous addiction is much more important.  Of course, this is advice for young children, not very suitable for teenagers.  And gradually, with your comments, it is worth taking the child away from the game, imposing on him the idea that this game is not very interesting.  Then another game.  And so on until he gets tired of playing.

But this advice may not work for everyone.
I think psychologists know better than me what parents should do.
If someone faced this problem, write here how it was solved.
Maybe the trick is to get your child out of his room or in front of his computer and do something related to physical and mental activity so they can move and think about what they should do. It won't be easy because they will try to reject it with the excuse of being busy but we still have to try it for their good. With more and more we spend time with children doing physical activities, they will not think about touching their computer for a certain time because they already feel like interacting with other people and it turns out to be more fun.

But this is just an example and there may be other ways to help children get out of gambling without resorting to violence.
Nowadays its really hard to distract them on what they are doing which they could really make out some alibi that they've been studying or any reasons that is related into their school which do ends up for you to
to agree and let them do on what they are currently doing which means that they do really have the free time for them to engage on things which you arent expecting them to do.
Parenting is never been easy even you do your best on guiding them on the right way on which there are really ways which you do really able to miss out
on watching or monitoring everything.

I think it also has to do with competitiveness. Many societies tend to generate and encourage competition rather than collaboration. It is much easier to compete than to collaborate and that also leads to some initial betting at early ages - I bet that I am faster, I bet that I can do whatever better than you,... If that becomes a habit I think it may be a problem in the long term.
1471  Economy / Gambling / Re: Vulnerabilities in gambling websites in past on: October 21, 2022, 12:16:31 AM
You may enjoy what you discover in a short span of time, if you manage to exploit some advantage against the house but yes, it indeed risk our account because once the site finds out what we are doing it will automatically freeze the account and the money that you've got inside your wallet will not be able to be withdrawn.

There's always risk in such actions that we are doing while playing on any website. Being fair is better as you are not worrying about any possibilities that your account will be ban to the site that you are playing.
So what's the point of us exploiting if in the end when we want to withdraw the money, the casino can easily find the violation that we committed and can block our account easily. But if the opposite happened, we could withdraw the money freely without any suspicion from the casino, it might attract many people to try to exploit it. But it's still not a good thing to do because it means we're breaking the rules of the casino.

I hardly believe that there are major vulnerabilities in gambling sites if not for hacking, and this occurs once in a while. With good security features and precautions, the risk is lowered to some reasonable extent though still susceptible, no doubt. But reading here that many vulnerabilities exist in gambling is strange to me. Maybe what you are referring to as vulnerability is a mere approach to gambling that is a weakness of the house. I don't think this would cause an account blockage without payment if the casino is fair. Only that many of them will give silly excuses not to give you your money on detecting you outsmarted them which I don't think is legal on their path too. We often don't know our rights or have the money to fight for it.
Indeed, occasional major vulnerabilities can occur in casinos and maybe the casino security team forgot to do something about those vulnerabilities. And it is such a common thing that can happen in a casino that it will be exploited by other parties to try to exploit it. But as a business owner, I think the casinos could be looking for excuses not to give the money but I think for a reputable casino, it wouldn't be a problem unless we really broke their rules.

It is a question of attitude. Many casinos and many companies or business in general kind of have a blind eye on regards to vulnerabilities. It is a question of having the right professionals or else it may just go unadvertised. A good safety consultancy is expensive, not to mention hiring personnel to deal with it, so unless they are really motivated they will eventually run into trouble.
1472  Economy / Gambling / Re: The History Of Gambling. on: October 21, 2022, 12:13:54 AM
Ancient Indian texts shows that gambling was a part of people's life.

Type of gambling may vary from country to country/people to people.

Gambling habit had started one of the biggest wars of Indian History i.e. Mahaabhaarata.

Here is an article about it if you wants to know more: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2910357/

It's about compulsive gambling, but probably in older times almost all gamblers were gambling addicts. That's because people weren't cultured much in the past, and hence they were greedy and envious beyond measure. They could put at stake their children and wife , they could easily kill out of rage. Only a few people are like that these days. Because of the education today we have higher level of morale than people used to have in the past. And that's why we can be responsible gamblers.

There are many historical references to compulsive habits along the story, some of them affecting kings and emperors. I guess it is in human nature to look for things that thrill and cause good instant gratification. But it is not less true that it is human nature to look for a better version of ourselves, so if anyone fall for compulsions it may be corrected with some help.
1473  Economy / Gambling / Re: To what extent do you chase anonymity while gambling? on: October 21, 2022, 12:11:06 AM
Hey guys.
Choosing crypto in casinos has always also to do with more anonimous gambling.
Anyway I'm curious how important is anonimity to you when you pay & play?

It's important and actually that's one of the reason why I like playing in crypto casinos. My anonymity matters because it can give me less worries while playing.

However, due to regulation wherein many casinos are becoming regulated by the Government, I had to comply on their kyc requirement, but this depends. I will only give my information on casinos that has good reputation and trusted by many gamblers. At this point, I comply in kyc of one specific casino that I trust.

Still the problem remains, you value your anonymity but at the same time most of the law compliant sites will conduct some short of KYC and will have you in files. It is a choice youhave to make - be fully compliant and legal or go dark and then face the risks associated with working with business that may not have accountability. Let's say that their owner can also be anonymous when they want.

LOL, well done for the guy. There is always a chance of fat winnings to be honest. Some of the bettings such as horse racing or some sports in beisball or basketball can potentially assign odds that factor in nearly impossible chances, but there is always a chance, even a diminutive one. I guess this is no different from winning the lottery, except that is perhaps more fun than buying a ticket and just waiting.

After Putin succeeded in annexing Ukrainian regions and holding a referendum in them, there are reports in the pro-Ukrainian media saying that the Ukrainian army succeeded in retaking large parts of these regions. This was accompanied by silence from the Russian side to comment on the matter.
Is it possible that the news is true or is it only for media consumption as the two parties are accustomed to doing?

The recent events showed a shift in the course of the war, and it seems that what Russia called the military operation to protect minorities in Ukraine, became one of its most important goals to bring down the political regime in Ukraine.

The illegal annexation has been so successful that Adolf Putin has signed a decree to install martial law in several RF oblasts. The Orc army is so successful that a number of oblasts that have border with the illegally occupied territories have now restrictions to travel, movement an massive control.

One would think that Adolf Putin did not take much of large bite, but it seems that even that little illegally taken territory is more than he can hope to defend.

Well you two got me convinced what an ingenious idea, after giving it more thought, why have a general elections in Ukraine at all?

Then it'd be like Russia and that's not a good thing. Instead Ukraine kept having elections even after one of their presidents turned out to be a massive shithead and that's a good thing (the elections, not the shithead).

Oh, well now it's crystal clear, why didn't you just say that earlier...only minor detail left is to define levels of shitheadness. At what level of shitheadness should Article 111 (UA Impeachment) should be enacted (if ever) and at which you can just wipe your ass with the constitution because US cookies showed up on the streets? Yep, sounds like a totally legit democracy.

By now everyone should have figured that DaRude thinks that you can treat a representative system in the same terms as a despotic one. That the police on a representative regime has the same limits than on a Dictatorship, that elections are always sham, (irrespective of having international observers and guarantees), that the only thing than matters is sheer power and being the bigger guy and accepting slavery to survive... And he believes that somehow this is because he has "more clarity" or his analysis is "more independent".

How are you going to have a realistic political discussion with someone who just does not get the concept of freedom or believes that it does not exist?
...

You got me! Congrats, your sarcasm detector is in top shape, nothing gets past by you! Yep cause when anyone says representative system* everyone automatically thinks of Ukraine!

And very interesting choice of words, you should read up on Realpolitik. But you probably won't like one of it's main proponents Henry Kissinger's position on Ukraine either.

*unless US thinks that our president is a shithead. Then with the help of their cookies, we can totally ignore our constitution and all rule of law, after a coup the most pro-US person is installed in presidents seat

Realpolitik maybe something "new" for you. It is not for me. Now, you have to move on from the XIX century, go past the Menshevik revolution, turn a bit for the existentialism and, by the end of the trail you will find that things are not quite as they used to be with Bismarck and that people in the internet era have better access to the world and can do something about their destinies, even if it takes to fight a Dictator.

Your points would be perfectly valid if made on a forum from around X B.C. to XIX A.C. Now you need an update of your firmware to "history 21.1" operating system.

Then it'd be like Russia and that's not a good thing. Instead Ukraine kept having elections even after one of their presidents turned out to be a massive shithead and that's a good thing (the elections, not the shithead).

^^^ Love that video. Thanks. Ukraine's help from the US and EU will dry up, even if it takes a little while.

Good, good... keep waiting for it to dry up. Patience is an important virtue - sometimes you can a whole life waiting for something to happen.

The morning did not begin with good news. Ukrainian cities were subjected to massive shelling from the enemy. We hope all our readers are staying safe. Unfortunately, there are victims and destruction. Russian terrorists attacked civilian objects. In particular, in Kyiv, a rocket damaged the building of the 101 Tower office center, which housed Samsung’s office and the company’s R&D center.

As the Director of Consumer Electronics Division at Samsung Electronics Ukraine Andrii Skira reported on his Facebook page, all company employees were outside the office. We also hope that employees of other offices managed to respond to the alarm and get to the shelter.

Any evidence that Russia is a terrorist country is no longer needed. It should not be feared, it should be defeated. Therefore, we remain calm, believe and donate to the Armed Forces, and continue to work.

Could russia target chip makers like samsung as primary military targets in the future. In an effort to pressure them to supply russia with much needed components?

In this instance russian rockets appeared to target samsung office bulidings.

...

Something like that is possible under the "Mafia Logic" that the RF army uses when deciding targets. However I do not think that is likely for two reasons: it does not really have an effect on Samsung's ability to deliver tech components and second, RF missiles tend not the be even remotely accurate. Most likely this is just another of their fuckups. They just shot in the general direction of the population and that is pretty much it.

Really glad that Crimea took matters into safe hands by democratic vote they accepted to rejoin Russia.
Otherwise it would have been a terrible bloodbath, they are now protected by the sane, instead of the insane.

The West deems it very differently though, through lies.
Not putting one example of it here, not worth what they said about it.

This is false information. Crimean citizens were not consulted with any observation or guarantee of due process. Until that is done, Crimea is an occupied territory that was annexed illegally by the RF. This is true to the point that soldiers from Wagner group that took power did not even tell who they were actually acting for!

Crimea belongs to people living in Crimea, anything else is medieval.

Who do you think has the power to punish Putin? Only God. But Putin is punishing Zelensky, and God will punish Zelensky, too
...

Your imaginary friend does not have any power over anyone, however have no doubt that Adolf Putin stays in power only while the US feels all right about his ability to control the nuclear arsenal. The moment that is in doubt, he will stop existing.

For now Adolf Putin is acting mostly in the interest of the US: getting Europe to owe more to the US, making many countries increase their spend in weapons, enhancing the NATO and bringing members that otherwise would be neutral, letting China know that US and Europe can and will fuckup the economy of any country that oversteps... Why would you get rid of such a guy? He should be in the CIA rooster if he is not.
