721  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sad reality: some countries gamble more than they can afford on: November 10, 2023, 11:11:25 PM
Why does it have to be about poor countries? If a country is rich its ok for its citizens to lose a bunch of money?

You as a person decide whether to gamble or not to gamble. The country IMO has nothing to do with it. Even if the country restricted or limited gambling, there are still ways people would gamble so you really cannot blame it all on the government.

At some point people have to be responsible for their own actions man. Can't just always think someone else is at fault.
I think it’s not so much as that but more as a distinction that this always happens with third world countries. For instance this also happens in the Philippines. Not to mistake it for the notion that rich countries are allowed to splurge their money on gambling.

And while you are right about the people finding ways for them to gamble despite band and barring, restrictions are still pretty much effective as it disallows the common joe to just have free access to gambling sites as they would if there was no ban. For sure these countries know about VPN but they would rather deal with people who are like that than do nothingvand subjrct the fountry to massive gambling crises.
722  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ever heard about financing a gambler? on: November 09, 2023, 08:44:49 PM
if they are a good gambler/bettor, why not? I've seen people give out loans to addicts and crackheads, what difference does it make if you support a friend with an idea for how to make money yeah? LOL. but in all seriousness, I don't think it's a good idea, nor is it something that I would subscribe to. First off, they would've already not needed my help if they are doing alright for themselves from the gambling venture that they are talking about. Secondly, you don't gamble money that you don't own, that's a recipe for disaster and the easiest way for you to get yourself in trouble. Third, I just don't trust people with my money. I'd rather just gamble/bet by myself, than blow it off on someone who's probably just talking out of his ass so he can get his gambling addiction fix.
723  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Most you have ever lost in one session? on: November 09, 2023, 07:50:45 PM
What is the most money you have ever lost in one session? could be land base casino or crypto casino.

mine was $200,000 on Stake.com 2 weeks ago
That's a massive loss. Biggest I lost was around 1000 and that was cumulatively too (in a span of a whole day), back when I was going ham on the gambling train. It also became my point of no-return where I started second-guessing whether I'm doing the right thing or digging myself a grave I wouldn't be able to escape from. I'm guessing you're in the same boat too at this point. To which I suggest, you should ask yourself if you think gambling is really for you. To lose that much money is ridiculous to everyone since that's so much money to start with, that a lot of people right now wouldn't even be able to get a hold of that much cash. But I digress, it's your money, your rules, do whatever you want with it.
724  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Out of curiosity, how much you wagered recently? on: November 09, 2023, 06:56:06 PM
He's got a problem that's for sure. No one in their right minds would've splurged that much cash all for the sake of gambling. That's beyond madness. I don't even think he gains something from it, given the fact that his returns are apparently less than 10% which is stupidly low. He needs intervention, perhaps someone who could refer him to a good addictions specialist so he can rid of this habit cause this is nuts. imagine wasting that much money on something as trivial as gambling? Let alone without even a sizable amount of return in the process too!

I know trainwreckz is a very popular twitch streamer, and perhaps one of the biggest out there even, although I'm not really even sure what type of content he releases or stuff.
725  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What impact does the BTC price have on your gambling habits? on: November 09, 2023, 06:12:49 PM
I'd say it has a positive feedback towards my gambling habits. Especially during 2020s when bitcoin was soaring high in value. And while I don't think it directly affects my gambling behavior really, more like it just coincides sometimes, and during 2020s people didn't have that much to do with the money and time that they have so my friends and I started gambling our time away to pass the boredom and shit. But right now that bitcoin's pumping I'm feeling a little confident in my bets, and I feel like I'd win a lot (I do win a lot or at least I am always able to secure every win I get) so this time it could be different and the recent bitcoin happenings may really have affected my gambling propensities. Whatever though.

726  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tips on staying responsible. on: November 08, 2023, 11:36:59 PM
Let's discuss the unique challenges of responsible gambling in the world of cryptocurrencies.

Crypto gambling can be fun, but it's important to keep our financial boundaries intact.

Share your tips and thoughts on staying responsible in this digital realm.
One tip that I found about years ago in this forum and will continue to stand behind is the loss-win limit. Back when I haven't set limits upon myself I always notice that I gamble on a net loss. Either I blow off everything that I've won in the next few games and leave the session with an empty bankroll, or I lose altogether without winning. Since then, I saw someone preaching about setting winning and losing limits when you gamble, I chose 3 wins 3 losses, and everytime I reach either of these parameters I automatically quit for the day. Since then I've been gambling on a net positive, all the wins that I have made are kept and saved, and I don't fall off the deep end when I lose since I always could just try again tomorrow, given the fact that my bankroll's not toast anymore everytime I gamble. Try it for yourself!
727  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Advice for new comers on: November 08, 2023, 11:06:21 PM
Pretty much everything that's been said prior to my comment is what every newbie should keep in mind when gambling. "gamble for entertainment only, don't use your gambling account as a wallet to save and gather your funds with" all that shit. But there's one tip they may have overlooked in favor of these vanilla-type advices.

Never gamble hungry.

Take it literally and metaphorically. Sometimes when we're hungry we tend to make the stupidest choices, ever heard of the tip to not buy groceries when you're hungry cause you're more likely to spend more on dumb stuff than if you were grocery shopping on a full tummy? That's that. Take it metaphorically too! When you gamble from a place of lacking, (eg you want to gamble for profit cause you don't have money, you're gambling cause you're looking to earn this chance to earn more money), you're inevitably digging yourself a new grave. So, might as well just gamble when you're in the proper mindset, and when all your needs are met. trust me, that's gonna do so much wonders for you.
728  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What conditions might cause you to stop gambling? on: November 08, 2023, 10:31:38 PM
I'd stop gambling for anything really. Gambling's not that big for me that I'd only have 2 negotiables before I drop it off lol. I'm a sensible guy and I understand why sometimes things must go, including gambling. I think people should think this way too. The thing about "setting definers for when you'd only stop gambling" puts it at a higher pedestal than what you should normally do, and that gives gambling addiction to me in my opinion. You should be able to drop gambling as easy as dropping that single-player game you've been sinking hours in when you get called for dinner by your mom. Gambling's nothing but a way for you to pass the time and here we are talking as if gambling's the end game entertainment system and we really should set shit for when we'd only allow ourselves to drop it. that's fucking nuts.
729  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are some things you should always avoid while gambling ? on: November 08, 2023, 09:56:55 PM
Let us discuss in this thread the things one should completely avoid while gambling. Here are some suggestions according to me :

1) Do not gamble in work area : It is not ethical to do so. Your employer is paying you to work for him for certain hours. If you waste these hours for gambling, it is a bad habit.

2) Do not take loan to gamble: Some young guys are so irresponsible that they take loans to gamble. It is a very bad move and can even produce life threatening conditions in future when loan recover agents knock your door.
Either this board got so deranged that we literally have to remind people to stop gamblnig when working, or this has been a circulating problem in the community since Day 1 that we just addressed lately but either way we shouldn't have to remind people that working and gambling should be done separately, not together or whatever. It's stupid and you would think people would understand it cause hey, it's logical at its core and there's no inherent flaw behind the intent to stop someone from gambling when you're working but no, apparently people really do it like it's normal lol.

Anyway, take gambling as a form of entertainment only, never as a way for you to earn money, once you see it as a money-making machine, you're toast and you'd start doing stupid shit with it.
730  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it the right time to invest in Bitcoin? on: November 06, 2023, 04:35:35 PM
It has always been advantageous to invest in bitcoin no matter the price action of the cryptocurrency giant. Being the most famous, most consistently profitable, most profitable, and easier to understand, bitcoin is in the position where it will always be worth it to hold a couple of it at any given time. Cause eventually in the future, as long as you play your cards right, you’re getting dividends from the vote of confidence that you’re naking today. So yes, bitcoin is profitable still, crypto is flourishing and should you decide to diversifyyour portfolio, there will be valuable coins out there that you can hold or day trade, and you’d always have eventful memories with crypto, for better or for worse.

731  Economy / Economics / Re: AI will put an end to work, says Elon Musk on: November 06, 2023, 04:07:05 PM
During an uncommon interview conducted by UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, the tech billionaire Elon Musk predicted that if AI is not regulated, there will be a time when no job will be needed. This means that AI tools would take over the entire work of men making paid jobs become reductant. He even claimed that humanoid robots might be a perfect friend for one of his sons who is having difficulty in having friends. I have always believed that regardless of how sophisticated these AI tools become, they will never replace humans. But hearing this prediction for an individual who has a full understanding of the AI sector is frightening. Elon Musk owns an AI company, xAI, that is competing with big AI firms like OpenAI, Google and Anthropic.

These comments can increase the fear and anxiety workers always had that these super-computers will replace them in future. What are your thoughts regarding the statement by Elon, do you think we should take him seriously?
No shit Sherlock! And I hate how they paint this as if it's going to be the end of the world for everyone on the planet once AI becomes strong enough to take our jobs. The government will be forced to take care of us less we die of starvation, and when we die from starvation, no one's going to spend the money that they are trying to make for themselves, meaning these rich people will cease to be rich. That's why a universal income law will be made in situations like this, which will grant the people the opportunity to earn money doing what they love, instead of what they could do.

it's going to be a win-win for the people when AI takes over. It's either they kill us all and release us from this mortal coil we call life a la Skynet, or it would aid us in achieving stuff that we've been looking for for centuries.
732  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fund for Bitcoin promotion on: November 06, 2023, 03:47:00 PM
There's none and there's no need to. Bitcoin's big enough that it could sell itself with little to no introduction. Anyone who says they will setup a bitcoin promotion should do this without the help of the people in here, I mean sure people could chip in and all that shit but the problem is that this has been used by scammers in the past to fool people into giving their money. Someone's going to say something along the lines of "hey, we're going to make a world-class bitcoin advertisement, but we would need your help financially", people will chip in their money, and the ad wouldn't come into existence cause the money's going to be taken away by these people. If you're going to promote bitcoin or whatever, do it free or do it out of your own pocket.
733  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Michael Saylor talks about Bitcoin, and you WILL be disappointed on: November 06, 2023, 03:21:19 PM
I mean. He's true in what he's saying. The appeal of bitcoin only applies to those who aren't lined with deep pockets. After all, the billionaires in this economy got from where they are right now thanks to their manipulation of customer information, something that bitcoin withholds. It's poignant and painful but at the same time Michael's only saying the truth in here. Sure there will be billionaire deviants who would still dip their toes in the crypto industry despite it not giving them true monetary value, but they wouldn't be significant enough to count amongst the hundreds if not thousands of billionaires right now who aren't keen on the protection and anonymity/censorship that bitcoin is providing its users.
734  Economy / Economics / Re: New business idea. on: November 06, 2023, 02:58:21 PM
The fact that you didn't post it on your local board means you are gatekeeping this possible business, and you should have not because there might be some people in your country who want to join this venture with you.

Well for me, this is a good business to start as soon as possible since it is bullish, but I'm not sure how long would it still be in demand since your country is using many types of edible oil. I see your point here, you want to take advantage of growing demand of this graundnut oil which is good, but posting it here would be difficult to attract some investors. I mean you can try there is no problem with that and it's worth trying I believe.
You good bro? He literally shared it with everyone so as to not gatekeep it. Why would it be the other way around if more people are able to see and understand what this little business idea of his entails? That doesn't make sense does it?

Edible oil's the market to go if you want something that doesn't saturate as well. Just go and take a look at your local grocery and see how many types of cooking oil there are, pretty sure there's no reason for him to fear not getting the proper audience for this since, granted there's health benefits, people will be more than happy to try out new types of oil. Olive and Virgin Coconut's been in the market quite recently and it boomed cause people are health-conscious, I'm pretty confident in the health perks of this groundnut oil he's talking about so with that we can safely assume this business's bound to boom.
735  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Lost wallet or something like that on: November 05, 2023, 11:12:26 PM
It was like bitcoin and that is it. Application on Debian Linux to try. Not like website at all. It had login and password much like website. It was like decade ago (2013-2014) Cheesy I am not sure.
It was unimportant at all but now I think reclaiming would give some gains.
I might try to remember better. Already tried to look Debian software lists.

Something very close to bictoin-core.
That didn't help that much. First off, plethora of Linux wallet apps to scour the internet from and much of them would've probably changed interfaces over the years, so much so that they would be unrecognizable decades from now (correct me if I'm wrong here, not really that educated regarding how Linux softwares work but yeah). Apart from that, pretty sure the only definitive way we could get your coins back even if we do get your password and your login username is to still get the hardware, as some wallet apps lock themselves upon specific hard disks to secure and make sure that nobody else could gain access to it other than you, regardless. I think your best bet now is to just jumpstart your bitcoin journey without these. it's sad and all that, but at the very least, its search lead you back into trying to investing into bitcoin yeah?
736  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Crack seed phrases with brute force? on: November 05, 2023, 10:23:27 PM
Everyone knows that the words that are used for seed phrases are not random. The BIP39 wordlist (2048 words) is used for creating seedphrases, and they hold a specific meaning. The last seed word generates a checksum, which validates the data. Also, the wordlist isn't infinite, meaning we have a certain parameter.

My question is, Is it possible to crack a seedphrase with brute force? Suppose you have a lot of computing power. Like having a super or quantum computer.

I am not talking about recovering a lost wallet or missing seed words. I know there are many Python based tools, like btcrecover, that can perform this task. If one had the original seed (wrong order) or a part of the seed, like 10 out of 12 words or 21 out of 24 words, one might be able to successfully recover the wallet.

What I am referring to is taking completely random words from BIP39, run some tools and algorithms, and try to make a valid existing seed (Having balance or no balance isn't important).

I know this might be a stupid question, and a lot of you might be wondering why I wanted to know this. The thing is, I saw a bunch of videos on YouTube and Facebook where some tools were trying to bruteforce seeds. They were using thousands of combinations of seeds (I forgot to save the video link). I understand, it might be fake. But is there any technical explanation for my question?

Another small question, why does BIP39 has only 2048 words? What's the reason? Is it related to any maths or equations?

I am not a hacker, cracker, or anything like that, but a curious person who wants to learn new things. If this topic already exists, please give me the reference link. I want to know more.

Possible? yes, probable? Nope.

seedphrases are programmatically generated in such a way that it wouldn't matter if you have the strongest or the fastest computing machine on the planet; as long as it's not a quantum computer running on cubits. there's no chance in hell that people could just brute force their way into your seed phrases since it's randomized without any definitive pattern that would be discerned by the common human being brain. Even more, the longer your seed phrase is, the harder it would be to crack it since there's like thousands if not hundreds of thousands of words in the english lexicon, with trillions of combinations depending on how many words you can generate.

So yeah, don't worry about it getting brute forced or anything. You're good to go.
737  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is It Late To Invest In Bitcoin? on: November 05, 2023, 10:01:08 PM
Never too late to invest on something as profitable as bitcoin. if it were no one would be investing in it now anymore, nor would there be anyone who would've raked money and profits by the millions in 2020. Imagine that.
The greatest thing about investing in bitcoin is that, out of all cryptocurrencies on the market, it's the safest choice to make since it doesn't keep you out of options at the end of the day. And out of all cryptocurrencies on the market, it's the most reliable when it comes to come backs by a landslide.

So yeah, the best time to invest in bitcoin is way back 10 years ago. The second best time to invest in it is now. Don't bother worrying about if bitcoin's still profitable or not this year, it always is and always will be.
738  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: CFTC Pays $350,000,000 to Whistleblowers! on: November 05, 2023, 09:45:18 PM
While I think it's great that these people are getting the proper care and credit that they deserve, it's due time for the CFTC to actually find a reliable way to figure out how to enforce cases and laws besides relying upon these whistleblowers. We gotta keep in mind that even if these people have the cajones to carry their cause no matter how much threat is put under their head, it doesn't erase the fact that them going out there spewing truth about certain issues puts them at a definite risk, maybe even to their families.

Perhaps a more comprehensive way of figuring out whether certain people or entities are liable of the crimes they committed could be made where the government doesn't need to endanger people who have little to do with the situation. I guess it's good that we're paying them but the thing is their lives are at stake despite the fact.
739  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does a rotation of a DCA HODLing account wallet, guarantee safety from hackers? on: November 05, 2023, 09:14:53 PM
Pretty sure there are proven ways to protect yourself from hackers as a DCA-ing Whale but at the same time, rotating your assets upon multiple wallets prove to be the most consistent in giving these people more security than any other method on the market right now. Picture this, you're someone holding millions worth of bitcoins, would you really go out of your own way to venture out and find other ways to secure your crypto, all the while risking yourself getting hacked or scammed in the process?

I don't think so. In this industry, when you've become so big the only problem you have is how you're going to keep your money, sometimes the best answers are those that are already in our faces.
740  Economy / Economics / Re: Would you prefer to own a luxury watch or invest in bitcoin or other assets? on: November 05, 2023, 08:45:51 PM
Both are good investments in my opinion. Luxury watches aren't your typical expensive buy my guy, when you take good care of these you're literally looking at 300k profit by the lowest, also depending on the brand of the watch you're buying. It's also worth noting that these are tangible, you can wear as a statement piece, or you can just keep where you could see it to be a conversation starter. Bitcoin on the other hand, isn't so bad of an investment purchase either, just cause it's not tangible or it's volatile lol.

I think we should stop comparing apples to oranges here, if given the chance I know most of us will take both options knowing that these two could bring you money. Why choose one when you can have both?
