761  Economy / Speculation / Re: I am finished trying to to talk sense into some of you. on: August 15, 2014, 10:05:33 PM
Why would you leave now? Times like these are when I love reading this board.

Butter pecan please.

Kind of offtopic: But why you guys have different colours in the Legendary last half of a coin? you can choose the color?

PS: I want a vanilla icecream.

My color is for my Administrator rank, not Legendary.

I am politely asking people for opinions and comments on my thread. I am not telling them to invest or buy my shares.
I think it is closer to a survey. If they do not like it they can write back to me directly. I do not use any bots or other automated systems.

Still spam, don't do it.
763  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Forum moderation policy on: August 15, 2014, 08:18:04 PM
Don't send unsolicited pm's advertising your services, it is considered spam.
764  Other / Meta / Re: Please give us an interface to check the status of our reports on: August 15, 2014, 08:13:34 PM
Yes, bounties are fine in services.
765  Other / Meta / Re: Please give us an interface to check the status of our reports on: August 15, 2014, 07:22:43 PM
Modlog goes 14 days, though the modlog doesn't account for everything. For example a report may be handled, but no logged action was taken (may have been resolved with a pm for example). Modlog also doesn't show reports marked as bad.

767  Other / Meta / Re: Sorry on: August 15, 2014, 06:04:43 AM
I actually admire him for acepting his mistake. Very few people do it.
You and the Mod who banned him say it was a mistake. So is that the Law? A judgmental Moderator who may or may not say your post or mine is considered spam is Dubbed a mistake? There is a fine thin line when you cast a judgement on a user posting and just because a Bear is in a bad mood doesn't give hime/her the right to ban a person unless it is a true Violation not a judgment call. He/she may own the site but let's be a little more consistent about the "Spam" accusations.

Just because you own a site or moderate does not give you a free ticket to mute, ban or delete posts based on your "opinion".  You do this based on fact not the measurement of a sentence or how many words are in that sentence.   You can post a single word and contribute to the topic without it being labeled spam.  Simply agreeing with a post with a single word yes or no contributes to the the original post without being considered spam, But in some eyes if you post one word your are labeled a spammer.

The whole entire forum needs Re-Educaticing starting with the Mods.
Lets be consistent with the rules.  one rule Aplies to all not just some. I have read through several Moderators postings and have found almost all have "one liners"     So if one liners are considered spam who Bans/Mutes the Mods?

Let's be consistent Right?

This sounds good in theory, but fails in practice. Setting strict rules for what is spam and what isn't, with a hard line for consistency, with no room for judgement or opinions? Even if that were possible, it would just be abused by spammers doing the minimum +1. At this point, might as well just have bots doing the moderation. And then eventually someone would have to track down Will Smith in order to save us from the AI.

Don't get me wrong, I do have criteria and red flags I look at, but they're still subjective and open to interpretation.

Also, discretion and using human judgement isn't always a bad thing. For example, if I blindly followed the rules with no deviation like you suggest, you would be banned since you're ban evading (I won't). Moderation in all things, including moderation.

Fabulous, even better.

But yeah, doesn't carry over well to the small version, just looks like a blob of pink on the corner.
769  Other / Meta / Re: Legendary coin color on: August 13, 2014, 01:51:04 PM
I have zero artistic talent, so if you want something other than a simple color, you'll need to create the image.

If you create an image, you can modify more than just that half-coin. I did that originally only because more than a half coin's worth of color is distractingly colorful. Colorizing half a coin doesn't symbolize anything. If you create an image, make sure it's not more distracting than the normal colored half-coin.

I have set up the template, so you can choose any color you like. I've played around with a few, as you can see below.

Changing my vote from blue to rainbow. Also to rename Legendary to Flamboyant Grin.
770  Other / Meta / Re: RECOVER HACKED ACCOUNT on: August 12, 2014, 04:01:52 PM
It was banned a few days ago for malware links.

I wouldn't ban an account just because someone makes another account and says it was hacked though.

Would signing a message (cryptographically) with an address in an old, unedited post be grounds for said account to be returned to owner, and negative feedback for hacker's actions deleted?

IMO, not necessarily. Thinking it over, there are a several situations which make that not as secure a method as you would think. Someone who has their account hijacked, likely had their computer compromised as well, and could have easily lost control of their private key. Original owner gets the account back, then the hijacker uses the private key which he now controls to get the account back under his control.  Or someone sells their account, then uses that to regain control of the account. There are several situations like this I can think of off the top of my head, and probably more I haven't thought of. There are many things to consider when it comes to these situations, which is why I've said I won't be restoring accounts.

Hmm, I have no hamburger buns with BadBear. Apparently many, many other people do. Possibly close to the number of people who hate Lawrence.

I can't wait to hear the newest thread.

Still can't see people's problem with him?

Any who, it's a proven fact that me I see BadBear when I look outside my window. Sometimes he's a Grizzly. We'll never know.

I don't think that many people really have a problem with me, or maybe I've just gotten used to it and don't really notice anymore. Doing the right thing isn't always easy, nor popular.
773  Other / Meta / Re: Forum ranks/positions/badges (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?) on: August 12, 2014, 01:26:30 AM
It was updated by malevolent.
774  Other / Meta / Re: Congratulations BadBear on: August 11, 2014, 10:19:45 PM
When did BadBear become an administrator? I only just noticed:

Yesterday.

I won't be recovering accounts except in special cases.

I'm still doing pretty much the same stuff I always did (I already did several admin type duties such as ban appeals, fulfilling moderator ban requests, etc), with some more minor stuff. Just easier now that I have more information and tools to work with. Theymos is still in charge.
775  Other / Meta / Re: New legendary rank? on: August 11, 2014, 10:16:11 AM
That's going to take too long for me  Embarrassed

Wouldn't be very legendary if it were easy.
776  Other / Meta / Re: Is this what a perma ban looks like? on: August 11, 2014, 01:09:23 AM
It essentially turns the forum into read-only. You can login, but can't post or send pm's (can read pm's). There is an option to not allow banned users to login at all (with that account anyway) but that's rarely necessary and not often done.
777  Other / Meta / Re: Activity & new membergroup limits on: August 10, 2014, 08:54:08 PM
Why would bigger signatures be allowed just because a higher rank was added? If there were to be changes made because of it, it would much more likely be that the current limitations would be reworked so only the new rank has the full signature currently allocated to hero members, and hero/sr has more restrictions placed on it.

Don't really think that's necessary though, since Hero takes long enough to get, though it is something to think about.
