781  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tether's Stablecoin USDT 'Has a Peg Stability Problem', Claims Analyst on: September 12, 2023, 02:30:19 PM
Another scary cautionary tale about Tether? Except history shows that USDT has the ability to recover quickly from all sorts of de-pegs, and it doesn't have much impact on its capitalization and level of dominance among other stablecoins. History shows us that no matter how bad things are said about USDT, it still shows much better reliability than USDC, BUSD, TUSD, etc.

why does a company need to be involved in tether though. people have to trust a company! isn't that like the antithesis of bitcoin? you would think with all the high tech blockchain stuff we wouldn't have to rely on a company. even relying on a government would be an improvement over that, i would think. but who wants to rely on a government. so it's really bad. bad all around.

tether could just stop redeeming tethers and the value of usdt would go to 0. because no one else redeems it except tether!

Where have you seen any major projects comply with the basic covenants of cryptocurrencies? It's impossible in the current regulatory environment. You either accept the rules of this game and use liquid products that are widely distributed on the network, or you stick to the crypto covenants and wander somewhere in the crypto underground, using products that almost no one knows about and few people use.
782  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Coinbase launch a native coin/token for Base? on: September 12, 2023, 02:27:32 PM
If launch, it won't be now. Now the market is not predisposed for major launches. Liquidity is falling, capitalization is falling, interest among investors in altcoins is at a low level. When the large-scale deployment of new cryptocurrencies in various networks begins and the industry's capitalization becomes several trillion dollars again, we can expect that a crypto giant like Coinbase may launch such a product.

784  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should I invest in new projects. on: September 10, 2023, 03:00:17 PM
OMG, another clone of famous memcoins that someone finds interesting? When will these investors learn to distinguish between good projects and discard all sorts of shitcoins that are stamped in unlimited quantities every day? Because of such garbage projects like DingDang Bubble, the Ethereum network is increasing commissions. It is urgent to create a separate blockchain for such garbage and let them have fun there without creating discomfort for ordinary users of the ETH blockchain.

786  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Google New Policy: NFT Ads is allowed starting Sept. 15 on: September 10, 2023, 01:57:42 PM
The NFT industry is in dire straits, with trading volumes falling to all-time lows. If Google is allowing advertising, then it means it is saving its interests in the industry. Most likely Google itself has some NFT projects they launched in 2021 that are now completely unprofitable, no one is interested in these NFTs. So to create more interest they are allowing these ads.
787  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Free promoting a project by managing careless manager! on: September 10, 2023, 01:33:45 PM
You can't earn much working in the bounty, those days are gone. The amount of time divided by the amount of profit will signal that this activity is not profitable. Especially now is not the best time for altcoins, the industry is in hibernation and many coins are losing their value.

Only big farms earn money in bounties if they can automate their work, although I am not sure that big farms will spend time on this, it is better to hunt for retrodrops, there the profit will be much more.
788  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH's Endgame on: September 10, 2023, 12:13:40 PM
PoS itself did not promise anything that would affect network scalability or lower commissions. I still see comments that the fees remained as high after PoS. But nobody promised that after the consensus change they will be lower, this problem should be solved not by changing the consensus, but by implementing sharding. ETH can be killed by investors themselves if they think that further use of ETH and its holding does not make sense, only it is unlikely to happen. ETH is phenomenal in that despite all its flaws, it is still the titan of the smart contract market, and all the killers of ETH remain in second roles. I am sure this trend will continue in the near future.
789  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do you find new meme coins early? on: September 10, 2023, 11:37:50 AM
Discord groups, Telegram Groups, and social media networks.
This is where I mostly see those trends happening but if you are looking for the time before it will be released then I guess that will be difficult. But, if you do know a whale who is known for investing in this type of coin then better ask him. Because they are mostly the ones who will receive such notice when a project is being created. Why? Money. Either scam or not, they will be notified without a doubt.
But if you will just hunt the internet, you will have a tough time seeing them. Most of the time, it will be a week after the whales already bought first.

First, early memcoins can be tracked on the DEX Screener service, then Twitter posts can be monitored for frequent mentions, but all of this still won't help you buy a memcoin at the very beginning of its stellar growth and thousands of percent profit, as was the case with PEPE. Many people dream of finding some services or metrics that will signal the emergence of such memcoins. Only problem is that such services and metrics don't exist and all these searchers are after the non-existent El Dorado.
790  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoins that you will be hold till next Bull Run on: September 10, 2023, 11:15:47 AM
I plan to hold and DCA Ethereum, Binance and Ripple, because I think Ethereum, Binance and Ripple are the best investments for the long term, so I will get a big profit from investing in Ethereum, Binance and Ripple and hold until the next bullrun comes, therefore I will not miss to buy Ethereum, Binance and Ripple at a cheap price (correction), because I believe the price of Ethereum, Binance and Ripple will increase very high and give me a lot of profit during the bullrun.

Ripple hasn't updated its ATH in over 5 years, why use DCA for it? Unwise allocation of funds to sluggish altcoins that in the long run bring their investors less profit than bitcoin investments. Binance is also under threat as a lot of its products are either disappearing from the market altogether or are under regulatory scrutiny.
791  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to identify shitcoins? on: September 09, 2023, 06:16:33 PM
-snip-

Here's a list of potential shitcoin metrics.

  • Listing exclusively on decentralized exchanges such as pancake;
  • Selling tokens through the site;
  • No funding rounds;
  • Lack of foundations as main investors;
  • Any memtoken;
  • Lack of white paper and documentation;
  • Most of the offering centered in the hands of the team and investors;
  • Anonymous team.
Also, do they have to run bounty campaigns on bitcointalk? Smiley

The forum doesn't have a hundredth of the shitcoins that appear in the industry. If every shitcoin started a bounty campaign here, the forum would just choke in a flood of crap posts, shilling and spam.

White paper and documentation may exist for such projects, but most often either rewrites from other projects, or white paper and other documentation written very superficially and without technical details. For comparison, you can always look at a bitcoin's white paper and a shitcoin's white paper - the difference will be immediately noticeable.

You should not expect a project that copies other projects to suddenly write a unique white paper. Most altcoins are just parodies and copies of other well-known altcoins. If they are gone, no one will notice it, except for the investors who bought these shitcoins.
792  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why should I invest in Qizon Coin? on: September 09, 2023, 05:43:57 PM
To me, any token that sells its tokens on a website, rather than on a dedicated token sales platform, is a potential scam. Another concern here is that the listing date on exchanges may be further away than the expiration date of the site registration. A banal exit scam may occur. All sorts of digital garbage constantly appears on BSC, which is not worth any attention.
Agreed on that but not all before there were some ICOs that usually selling their tokens on their own platform and it still clicks and got some legit process or result. But the era wherein the release of exchange listing platform like IEO marks the end of this and only few lile 0.001% of those who do that now are mostly scams.

In the past, ICOs could be launched directly from the project's website, and when the site closed, there was a scam, and no one controlled it. Now there are various launchpads that organize various ICOs. If a project is not launched on any launchpad, but sells its tokens on its website, it can be a good signal that it is a scam and the developer of this scam does not want to spend money on attracting various services, as he does not have money for it. He wants to get rich on the scam with minimal investments.
793  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hedera Hashgraph is ten times better than Ethereum on: September 09, 2023, 04:45:29 PM
-snip-
In order for people to change their attitude towards cryptocurrencies and value their technological properties first, infrastructure is needed. Why do people need cryptocurrencies if they are not implemented much? We know about the integration of bitcoin, ETH, USDT and a few other cryptocurrencies that allow real world interactions through crypto solutions. Otherwise, all other altcoins do not bring any benefits and solutions, they are just speculative bubbles and people see them only as a lottery, the ability to make money on resale and nothing else. As long as there is no infrastructure, but only exchanges, people will see cryptocurrency as an investment component.
It's true - infrastructure is needed, but realization is always difficult.
The main thing I'd note is that regulations are still not very supportive - it's going to hinder infrastructure growth making real use cases for these crypto/altcoins very difficult to achieve.

If the government is racing to revise its regulations and adopt cryptocurrencies - then I'm sure the infrastructure you mean can be built everywhere. The real use cases are increasing and the technology is much more usable. But back to the first chapter - it's very difficult.

The introduction of new technology is always accompanied by difficulties. When the first debit cards and electronic payments appeared, there was no developed infrastructure where we could use this technology in every establishment or store, but 30 years later it became elementary and the adoption of this technology became mass. With a cell phone, you can pay anywhere and everywhere, even without a physical card. The crypto industry is very young, it's only 14 years old, so there's still more to come. I hope that by this time the crypto market will clean itself well and a lot of clones will simply disappear and will not clutter the industry and the development of this industry.
794  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PYUSD a.k.a Paypal USD on: September 09, 2023, 04:04:46 PM
These people will choose a PayPal stablecoin and then these same people will tell us all horror stories about how terrible the crypto industry is and that it blocks funds and scams its users. When people opt for a horribly centralized platform, they should be aware of the risks involved and that their stablecoins may one day no longer belong to them. This is not the fault of the crypto industry itself, it is the fault of the investors themselves who popularize such crypto products and become their customers.

Ironic, isn't it?

Nothing personal, just business Smiley

People support centralized stablecoins and cryptocurrencies, just because they want to "ride the hype". It's all about money these days. Once it blows over, you see them whinning by not making the right decision at the right time. We should expect PayPal's new stablecoin to become a huge success, albeit for a short period of time. Decentralization must prevail for crypto to defeat banks. Otherwise, everything would be more of the same.

I'm seeing people looking more and more towards centralization and KYC. Each new generation of crypto users is more and more supportive of these ideas, perceiving control in the crypto space as some sort of norm, that this is the way it should be. It is unlikely that decentralization will win in cryptocurrency with such a public.
795  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why is Monero so unpopular? on: September 09, 2023, 03:34:15 PM
If they close these exchangers, they will open others. The main thing is that the exchange does not connect various fiat solutions and other centralized products, then no KYC exchange will be afraid of. P2P without fiat will live a long time and represent those islands of privacy in the crypto industry, which the connoisseurs of anonymity, decentralization and privacy need. Exchanges themselves provoke regulation on their platforms when they add USD, banking products, payment processors and other services from the world of centralized finance.

Exactly. Governments can't enforce regulations if a crypto exchange doesn't have Fiat trading pairs. That's because they don't have jusridiction on cryptocurrencies without a central authority (decentralized). You don't see governments cracking down on crypto-only exchanges these days (as far as I'm aware). I think DEXs and P2P exchanges with no Fiat pairs will most likely succeed in the long run. This means being able to buy/sell Monero using only crypto (zero Fiat).

As I've stated before, we have plenty of options to get access to Monero without middleman. Everything needs to stay open source and decentralized, so people will be able to enjoy XMR without restrictions. I don't mind about Monero being an unpopular cryptocurrency as long as it does the job it's supposed to. You can see why it's still the #1 privacy coin in the world. Who knows if Monero survives while others (Zcash, Grin, Beam, etc) go all the way down the drain in an instant? Just my thoughts Grin

Monero is becoming harder and harder to find on centralized crypto exchanges every year. Private coins there are subject to constant persecution. At the same time, the crypto space does not consist of only centralized exchanges, it is full of various P2P, DEX, Instant Swaps, where Monero is supported. Such services will always exist, which means that private coins and Monero will live on.
796  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Only good coins are listed on top exchange? on: September 09, 2023, 02:49:06 PM
That's exactly what this is about. Crypto trading depends only on the funds invested. The technology itself is of little interest to anyone, so we are witnessing a frenzied growth of absolutely useless and dead coins, which are of no use to anyone except trading, as they have no utilitarian function. In fact, such events have a negative impact on the industry itself, as new investors see not a developing market with the introduction of cryptocurrencies into everyday life, but a kind of big casino, where all sorts of useless funk is played and a lot of people lose money on it, and then this project steals from itself, as in the case of PEPE. After such events, what would be your opinion about the crypto market if you were a newbie?

This is bad because it makes crypto extremely-centralized. Not only that, but the variety of useless coins makes the whole industry look like garbage. I guess crypto needs more time to mature before it can be taken seriously. With upcoming regulations, the number of scams and useless projects will decline. The ones that will ultimately win are centralized exchanges. That's because they hold all of the cards to move the market in their favor.

Newcomers into crypto will get "rekt" as their investments go all the way down the drain in an instant. After all, they're only thinking about getting rich quick. Who knows how the crypto market will grow 5-10 years from now? Just my opinion Smiley

I think that when the crypto space seriously matures, it will be split into 2 camps. Those who want convenience, regulation and speed and those who want to be out of sight, who value privacy and freedom. Similar to the internet where we have clearnet and TOR. I'm sure the industry will split as it's impossible to please everyone and come to one thing. Either way there will be regulation and centralization, but if you want privacy then welcome to crypto TOR.
797  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins profits or bank profits, which best? on: September 09, 2023, 01:36:56 PM
You are missing one important detail. Very often large sums are invested not to make money, but to preserve the value of the original investment. Large capitals aim not to increase their assets, but to preserve them, so that bank interest covers inflationary costs and does not contribute to the depreciation of monetary assets.

Wow!
I didn't know about this. I always thought the interest was purely the profit.
This means they only make a profit when there is no inflation or high inflation which is very rare.
This makes it even less compelling for common folks who want to invest because to them they've earned an interest meanwhile all they got is just the pre-inflation value of their money.

For example, you have $10M in capital and you don't want that $10M to depreciate in 5 years, i.e. the money will lose purchasing power in 5 years due to inflation and now the value of that $10M will be comparable to the value of $8.5M 5 years ago. To prevent this from happening, you can put the money in the bank at an interest rate that will cover the inflationary costs. Total, in 5 years, your $10M will turn into $11.7M. You will have more money in terms of quantity, but with that $11.7M you will be able to buy as much as you could have bought with $10M 5 years ago. By doing so, you've managed to preserve the value of your money and protect yourself from inflation. That's what bank deposits are for in the first place, not for making money.
798  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Promising altcoins? on: September 09, 2023, 01:16:42 PM
Altcoins don't just follow in bitcoin's footsteps, but also multiply this effect many times over, especially when it comes to falling. If bitcoin falls by 10%, altcoins can lose 30-40%. There is a flip side to this effect as well. When bitcoin grows by 50%, altcoins can grow by 200%, but they also quickly become cheaper after such growth, so you need to sell quickly, otherwise all the price momentum will disappear as if it never happened.

Of course. Altcoins usually have higher fluctuations in market price. That's the reason why they're a much-riskier investment than Bitcoin itself. If you know how to play your cards right, you could make a lot more money with altcoins than Bitcoin alone. Most people like altcoins because they bring new features not found on the main Bitcoin blockchain. Not to mention, they're a lot cheaper than BTC.

Like I've said before, a promising altcoin is one that's not driven by hype but delivers as promised. Active development, innovation, and most importantly, real use cases is what makes an altcoin a solid long-term investment. I'd say ETH, LTC, ADA, and BNB are the "best of the best" in the crypto market. The rest are pure junk. This is my own opinion, and not investment advice. I'd advise you to do your own research to help determine what works best for you. As long as you don't turn greedy by putting all of your life savings into crypto, there should be nothing to worry about. Just my thoughts Grin

Large profits with small investments cannot be achieved without accompanying high risks. Of course, the more conservative the asset, the lower the return. Conservative investing goes very poorly with small deposits. Since most investors want to get x100 in 1 year, no one wants to wait 10 years until they have the opportunity to earn similar interest on bitcoin or ethereum. Hurry is only needed when catching fleas, but not in case of investing.
799  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should I invest into https://nexus.io/ Web4? Or Invest into Web2 Namecoin? on: September 05, 2023, 07:28:33 PM
Wow. Someone is still investing in old shitcoins that have been fading for a long time and don't bode well for their investors. Look at the chart of this coin over the last 8 years, what do you see there? Do you see rapid growth and new ATHs there? What is the point of carrying your money into a coin that has a trading volume of $5,000? What are you hoping for, that after you buy these coins, things will change and now the coin will behave any differently? No, it will behave exactly the same, so I don't see any point in carrying my money into such projects.
800  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PYUSD a.k.a Paypal USD on: September 05, 2023, 07:01:40 PM
Thinking about this, PYUSD might actually become the first legally accepted stablecoin (I don't see why not, given its standing in the finance industry  for over a decade). Also, the biggest reasons I've seen that has made stablecoins become really popular and dominant despite majority of them being centralized is that, DeFi as it currently is lacks the much needed to make it strives that's why stablecoins are important right now. Once we can get that problem solved, I don't see much importance for them.

Exactly. PayPal has widespread recognition as one of the leading companies (if not the leading company) in the financial sector. People will trust PYUSD more than Tether or USD Coin for that matter. It's likely PYUSD's market cap will increase to a point where it will overtake USDT as the leading stablecoin in the market. For what I know, all cards are on the table. Even though all of these stablecoins are centralized, they're still a great way to protect yourself against market volatility.

You'd save money and time by converting your crypto into a stablecoin of your choice instead of cashing out to USD. Who knows if PayPal even goes as far as launching its own crypto exchange in the future? Just my thoughts Grin
