Thanks for the info.

The latest adventure of the brand new devs.

Today, we'll be taking a look at Mr. Darren Palmer, the CEO of PayProcoin and 'Instant Bitcoin', who cleared 40 million coins during its IPO ICO earlier this month. Sadly, Mr. Palmer claimed he was subjected to a coordinated attack by fudsters, which according to him, led to the closure of his bank, Paypal and Virvox accounts. So now Mr. Palmer must close his 'holding company' "until I find a solution and my funds returned."

Strangely, upon hearing the news of a bounty being placed on his head earlier today, our Mr. Palmer had this to say, as related by Nyterax.

I showed this to him and he told me in Skype that he doesn't care because his ID is fake and then he disappeared - that might be the last we hear from him. Can make a screen if anyone wants but whatever. Oh well, I really thought he could be legit, otherwise I wouldn't have supported the whole ordeal.

Clearly, the only way to prevent such blatant scams from recurring in future is by banning mining pools from posting in ANN threads.  Roll Eyes

I've never seen so many complaints about people having the right to choose. Do you really want some dudes on a forum deciding what you should be able to invest your money in? If you feel their should be controls of some sorts, then do it, and stop expecting someone else to do it for you. Make an Altcoin Business Bureau or whatever you think will help. I had hopes for that scamcoin buster thing a while back, but it seems to have fizzled out.

Restricting accounts will not work. Do you honestly think the scams are just some random newbie that shows up, then leaves? There are rings of scammers operating here. It's the same on any forum revolving around finance, this isn't a phenomenon located just here. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to find out the majority of them are by the same two or three groups. If we restrict newbies from posting, then we'll just see proxy posts, people paying someone else to post it for them. Then every announcement thread will be prefaced with  *Not my coin, just posting this thread*. Or bought accounts, which will just be considered the cost of doing business by scammers. No matter what restrictions we put on accounts, they'll get around it. Need to be a Junior member to make a thread? If I were a scammer, I'd just make 50 accounts today, 50 accounts tomorrow, 50 more the day after that, etc. After a few weeks I'm back in business, with tons of disposable accounts to cull the suckers who now have a false sense of security. Pay to post? Just look at how many donators/VIP members turned out to be scammers for proof that no amount is high enough to deter scammers. I remember seeing one scammer post in scammer accusations, he said he made 5k+ a month here, and had been for several months. He's probably still here.

People are too used to having someone else hold their hand. Many people just don't want to take responsibility for their own actions, and don't want to admit they're gullible, greedy idiots, so they run here to post about how it's totally everyone else's fault, and the forum should have stopped it somehow.

You have the freedom to choose, make your choices wisely.

Yes, report spam like that as well.

805  Other / Meta / Re: Time to Move Bitcoin 2.0 tech (Counterparty/Mastercoin) out of "Alt Coins" on: August 01, 2014, 08:39:45 PM
Moving it to Meta isn't "burying" it. It's for discussion about the forum, and the people who moderate and administrate the forum check it regularly. Posting elsewhere makes it much less likely for it to be seen. For example, I have the entire Meta board added to my watchlist, so any new threads created here immediately pop up on my watchlist (threads moved here do not), and I'm able to react to threads that need a moderator's attention much faster. Bitcoin Discussion? Not so much. You're only hurting your chances of a response by intentionally posting threads in the wrong section.
806  Other / Meta / Re: Ignoring/blocking pm's on: August 01, 2014, 07:42:16 PM
Yeah there is a message, I don't remember what exactly it says, pretty close to what malevolent posted.
807  Other / Meta / Re: Looking for information on why my account posting was blocked on: July 31, 2014, 12:57:06 PM
Hi,

Thanks for your responses and clarification. Would a response to a query about the pool in the actual Alt-Coin thread be also considered as spam (for example "Your pool is not paying out" - when a response about coinbase maturity times is needed).

Best option would be to direct them to the proper place to ask their question, your dedicated thread in mining.

Quote
I presume that the correct way then now would be to PM the coin op/dev with the pool details and let them update their OP?

Yes.
808  Other / Meta / Re: lost my password of accout on: July 31, 2014, 12:49:17 PM
Weren't you posting about buying or selling an account a few days ago? Sounds like you're trying to scam someone out of an account.
809  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Pool advertising is no longer allowed on: July 31, 2014, 12:32:28 PM
Getting added to the OP by requesting the devs via PM is a joke.  It happens maybe 50% of the time, and never quickly.

Not our problem. If a dev wants his coin to succeed he will do everything possible to make sure he does have the pool list included. If he can't be bothered to do that then why would anyone want to bother with it?

So if a pool owner posts his pool in a thread... he will get banned??  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

How about limiting that post too 1 in each announcement thread?

Im really sorry I have too say this... But this is NOT the priority you should be looking at right now with all those scamcoins around these days..

People lose money everyday over scams...

But instead of helping the community, by setting stricter rules for coin announcements on here... you worry about poolowners who advertise their pools...

I really cant understand this... Sorry Undecided

Remove scamcoins? Ok.  *deletes alt currencies*  Grin

What sanctions? Imagine, I can create an account and spam ads of competitors.

We can press one button and ban an account, and remove all it's posts automatically. I don't think it's going to be a problem.

That's part of what prompted this, now it's fair for everyone, instead of some arbitrary rules that nobody is going to remember. Besides, this isn't some special rule just for alt currencies, when is the last time you saw a bitcoin mining pool advertising outside of Mining>Pools? Alt currencies has always received less moderation than the rest of the forum, and probably always will, but the pool spam is crazy and we're tired of dealing with the spam generated.
810  Other / Meta / French child board descriptions needed on: July 31, 2014, 11:38:37 AM
Don't send pm's to theymos about stuff like that, too easy to slip through the cracks. Ask davout to make a thread about it in the staff forum, much more likely to get a response.

Edit: Split.
811  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Pool advertising is no longer allowed on: July 31, 2014, 06:08:14 AM
Advertising mining pools is no longer allowed, including, but not limited to, altcoin announcement threads.  Mining pool ops should make one thread within the Mining section of Alt Currencies. Do not make a separate thread for each coin. Most OP's already link to pools available so advertising your pool is unnecessary and leads to too much spam.

How the Hell do you intend for people to find pools to mine the coins with, if not in the OP I quote you .. maybe you mistyped what you actually mean "Advertising mining pools is no longer allowed, including, but not limited to, alt coin announcement threads." So a new coin cannot have links to the pools for their coin is what that says ... I wonder if it's just not clearly written because you go on to contradict your self here with "Most OP's already link to pools available so advertising your pool is unnecessary and leads to too much spam. "

So can we have some clarification to this.... otherwise I think it's time to community found a new forum to work from ... ....  .... damn nazi's

Yes, listing available pools in the OP is fine.

Advertising spam is not allowed, this includes mining pools, gambling services, exchanges, shops, etc. Mining pool ops should make a thread within the Mining section of Alt Currencies. Most OP's already link to pools available so advertising your pool is unnecessary and leads to too much spam. Exchanges, shops, gambling sites, etc, should make a thread in the Marketplace section of Alt Currencies.

Edit by mprep:

You know what, time for a slight policy change:

After consulting and discussing with BadBear, I've decided that it's time to let people discuss a bit more freely about services. Although BadBear's earlier posts hinted that service posts are a "no go" on most cases, after contacting him a couple of days ago, I believe he has changed his thinking, possibly due to the community's opinion and suggestions (told you it would help Grin).

As per this shift, the following type of posts are now allowed in coin threads:

  • Posts about block explorers. ("Here is a new block explorer for this coin" type posts)
  • If a service comes up in a disussion and directly related to the coin, it's allowed
  • "We're up" messages for pools (if it's only once per thread)
  • "This exchange added coin" type posts for exchanges (again, if it's only once per thread)

However, said rules only apply to those posts that ARE NOT large, distracting with images, or markup codes (lots of bold and colors) and other traits of an advertisement. If a post is considered an advertisement will be determined on case by case basis.

Post your suggestions and opinions regarding this rule and how it should be improved and it might get implemented.

814  Other / Meta / Re: Looking for information on why my account posting was blocked on: July 31, 2014, 05:40:43 AM
I'm inclined to think pools should make one thread in mining, and stick to there.

Agreed.
Provided it's a bitcoin mining pool. This thread is about an altcoin mining pool though and it has no place cluttering up the bitcoin mining section.

Alt currencies has it's own mining section if you forgot.  Tongue
815  Other / Meta / Re: Looking for information on why my account posting was blocked on: July 31, 2014, 03:47:40 AM
I'm actually glad this thread was made, I've been thinking about it lately. I'm thinking ahead here, I already know the next response is going to be "I've never heard that rule before!".  While it's true that there is no published rule about it, as long as people were reasonable about it, it was fine, but it's getting worse. If we need to make a rule about it, I'm not even sure we should be allowing it in the first place. Outside alt currencies we wouldn't allow advertising your pool anywhere but the Mining section. I'm inclined to think pools should make one thread in mining, and stick to there.
816  Other / Meta / Re: Looking for information on why my account posting was blocked on: July 31, 2014, 02:42:34 AM
All it says is "pool spam" - yet i checked my messages (for the last 10-20 pages), and I don't consider a single post when a coin is launched to be spam.

I wouldn't see a problem with that either, but you aren't.

Advertising your pool more than once per 24 hours in the same thread is too much. As for others, you're hardly the only one banned for it, at least a dozen this week have been.

You're also ban evading by continuing on this account.

Replace lk.org in the url with .lk
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=716639
https://bitcointa.lk/index.php?topic=716639

Edit: Actually not working, it usually works, but looks like it hasn't synced yet, it hasn't been very reliable lately unfortunately, I got a lot of use out of it.

I did tried it myself but it didn't worked, I also search the individual post of the user and the thread he has opened himself through his profile page but it is only showing the posts made till monday, so maybe I should wait 2 more days and then check it.

I have also tried to search through my posts but the same problem is there, I don't see my posts after monday.

Would if be ok, if I contact you by PM?

I can't really help you directly, but if you want to pm me the details of the situation I can tell you if it would be something theymos would help you with and pass it along with a recommendation.

Please unlock jarvis account dev. of honorcoin ver. 2.0 Sad he removed giveaway. thanks  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=645946.0

His ban will expire in 10 more days.

Hi BadBear,

If you have a minute I just wanted to make sure I understand this forum rule a little better. I read most of the thread, but again wanted to make sure my understanding is correct.

Asking us to put a link or promote a coin in our signature is ok as long as it doesn't ask us to post "insubstantial" posts as well correct? Or is it any type of giveaway period, unless the giveaway instructions are on another forum or site?

From a user standpoint. We can add anything to our signature as long as we don't promote the giveaway specifically? For example if the giveaway is posted somewhere other than bitcointalk, but asks us to put the coin and our address in our signature this is ok correct?

Last thing Smiley I see "bounties" all the time. So if the coins are given to do any type of work including, other than posting on bitcointalk, that is ok as well correct?

I know I read it in several posts already, but I also feel a warning would be more fair, even with a short time frame to remove the violation before banning. I do understand and agree with the reasoning for the giveaway rules in general, just not instant banning without a chance to change the mistake, unless of course there is a history of the user ignoring the rule.

Thank you for you time and Have a Good Day

The most common mistake I see with signatures is stuff like "Add this to your signature then post here so I can verify", which is not allowed. You'd have to be more specific about what you mean wrt bounties, but that sounds okay.

Specifically, you are not allowed to give people any incentive to post insubstantial posts in your threads.
820  Economy / Lending / Re: $1000 loan so I can challenge Randi - $500,000 return on: July 29, 2014, 03:51:41 PM
How could that go wrong...
Didn't this guy claim to be homeless?

Should have seen his last thread on shroomery. He claimed he was possessed, and needed a lethal dose of LSD in order to evict the demon and recover his soul. Posted pictures of him being all scratched up too, popular theory was he crashed his bike. Ended up getting banned from there.

Edit: My Soul was stolen. Funny, thought he lost his soul to squall when he defaulted. He's probably going to kill himself eventually.

Quote
Though I am still in control of my body, the soul within is not mine.

Two nights ago I was brutally attacked (physically) by a deamon. There are claw marks all over my fucking body.

Last night I received mxe and communicated with native american spirits. They taight.me abput the deamon, he used to be a shaman but into black magic because he was j
disgusted by his name. They said he tried to kill himself in a pit but failed and lived on loan trail, a very dark trail by himself.

he has evolved into quite the fucking deamon since then, the NA spirits said he lived in the 1400s.

I will explain more about the experience later, but let me tell you, this being physically manifested and attacked me.  there is extremely articuate demonic pictures in the mirror. There is a face with square eyes and a long ass tongue amd a second pointed devil tongue.  He clearly drew out his claws and created many satanic images in the mirror. shit that I could not have possible with fingers, very narrow lines made with claws, some even engraved into the.mirror.

I do know one way to get my soul back into me. Let me add that I can retain my soul after expulging crazy ass demonic sounds out of me, but it drift away after a few seconds. at first i could graby soul and pull it back into me, but each time I try to so it gets harder to do. Ive been excorsizing myself to pull it back into me.

I can regain and keep my soul if I can take a lethal dose of LSD. no demon could surpass that and the second I die from it I would gain access to my soul and retain it. my soul holds the key to immortality, my soul is the second coming of jesus, it a divine spirit that has the capability to.bring world peace. the fate of the world literally depends on this.

I am calling out, anyone that may be family or have access to.this, please help me. This shit is.very real and I need to.get my soul back to. bring world peace and.help.ascend humanity into.the higher dimensions of existence.

forgive me.for.any spelling.errors, i.am.writing on a phone.and.this is a cry out, please somebody, please help.me.

Please help me get my soul, i will post proof of this when I can get that a computer.

Much (true) love from my soul.
