The previous assumption is likely wrong:
It is what I expected, very close to my estimation based on the difference of medians of intra-days merits between periods before and after.
nearly 30% increases of both sMerits generated for merit sources, and of  median of total intraweek sMerits sent in the last two weeks.
So, you maybe right that the rises of merit circulations last two weeks come from the re-allocation sMerits to merit sources and their sMerits-give-away activities.

Notes:
In the raw statistical results above,
- mean: mean;
- median: p50
8382  Other / Meta / Re: Time Series Analysis on Distributed Merits in the forum (daily, weekly, monthly) on: February 02, 2019, 02:33:36 PM
Update:

ABSTRACT
Notes:
- The asbstract describes figures of intraday merits over the period from 19/2/2018 to 28/01/2019 (truncated dataset);
- Days from 24/1/2018 to 18/2/2018 truncated due to highly potential outliers; and days after 28/01/2019 truncated as well due to incomplete week (the fifth week of 2019, 2019w5);
- Statistics presented in the post are for truncated dataset.

(1) Potential outliers are days that have intraday total merits beyond 135.5 or 1151.5;
(2) Median of intraday merits over the period is 621.5, whilst the interquartile range is from 516.5 to 770.5;
(3) Friday is the day over weeks has lowest intraday merits in terms of both median and mean, at 542, and 617, respectively.

1) Daily merits' time series plot
I used full dataset (only dropped the first two days due to extremely high merits distributed during those days), since 24/1/2018 to 28/1/2019 to draw the below plot

2) Basic statistics
* For full dataset (only first 2 days dropped)
- Mean +/- sd: 792 +/- 533
- Median (interquartile range): 639 (521 – 836.5)
- Min - max: 312 -  4493.

From the full dataset, we can easily identify potential outliers via the following formula:
IQR = Q3 – Q1 = 836.5 – 521 = 315.5;
1.5*IQR = 1.5*315.5 = 473.25
Potential outliers:
-   Above Q3 +1.5*IQR = 836.5 + 473.25 = 1309.75
-   Below Q1 – 1.5*IQR = 517 – 477 = 47.75
Let's see how many days that have total intraday merits beyond 47.75 or 1309.75?
Code:
. count if merit >= 1309.75 | merit <= 47.75
  33
In total, 33 days are extremely potential outliers, and none of them occured recent weeks (only days before 18/9/2018).
Code:
 .         list id merit date if (merit >= 1309.75 | merit <= 47.75) & merit != .

Let's identify potential outliers of the truncated dataset (from 19/2/2018 to 28/1/2019):
- Mean +/- sd: 683.6 +/- 260.1
- Median (interquartile range): 621.5 (516.5 – 770.5)
- Min - max: 312 -  2463.
IQR = Q3 – Q1 = 770.5 - 516.5 = 254;
1.5*IQR = 1.5*254 = 381
Potential outliers:
-   Above Q3 +1.5*IQR = 770.5 + 381 = 1151.5
-   Below Q1 – 1.5*IQR = 516.5 – 381 = 135.5
Potential outliers are days that have intraday merits beyond 135.5 or 1151.5.
Let's see how many days that have total intraday merits beyond 135.5 or 1151.5 ?
Code:
. count if (merit >= 1151.5 | merit <= 135.5) & merit != .
  47
There are 47 days in total, and there is only one potential outlier day happened in early weeks of 2019, on 09 Jan. 2019, at 1161.
Code:
. list id merit date if (merit >= 1151.5 | merit <= 135.5) & merit != .

It seems that the assumption on the 30 percent increase of forum-generated sMerits that leads to 30 percent increase of intraday merits is wrong.
The assumption was likely right in the two weeks later period, but for now, it seems to be wrong.
Anyway, let's see the merit circulation next few weeks to confirm the assumption.
For the 30 days prior to Jan 9 it was already above 16000

Exactly!
Nevertheless, it's hard for newbies to investigate projects themselves and identify exactly which ones are scam, which ones are un-scam.
The problem [serious one] occur when they got help from other forum users, DT members (who are more professional), with warning messages:
"Scam project! Stay away from it, and stop supporting it!".
If, after that, they keep supportin scam projects, and ignore all warning messages, they should be tagged red.
It's the final destination for them.
I disagree, we all have to take responsibility for our actions and this includes researching schemes before promoting them in exchange for payment.
"But I didn't know they were a scam" usually is more accurately written as "I didn't care if they were a scam, I just wanted the money."

Thank you for your help.
sMerits come to me today, one of them come from you.
Good post for newbies, you deserve merit but unfortunately I am out of smerit. I have put your post here so others merit source will review your post.

This is a valuable suggestion, that I will take into my deeply consideration.
The new trust system is complicated one, and it takes time for me to write such a informative topic.
Quote
However I feel you can write more briefly if possible. Newbie should meet and understand how work trust system and what is their responsibility. Newbies also can help us to improve forum. This isn't not only DT responsible to keep forum clean and scam free.

Sure. If someone known something good, for the forum, for the crypto enthusiasts, especially the following two things, they should help others with their skills, knowledge, and GUIDEs.
- Avoid investing and losing money into scam projects.
- Contribute to improve the forum to become much cleaner (out of spambies), and become a more informative place.
Everyone has their own roles in the forum. Even Newbies can be one of the most important components of the forum.

Newbie also can help lot. Just try save himself from tag isn't good practice. They need help others also to avoid scam.
8387  Other / Meta / Re: Who will be the first user to reach 10,010 activity? on: February 01, 2019, 05:34:13 AM

I found something probably wrong:
- shitposters will not able to get thousands of merits (15k) like this.
- making thousands of posts (583k) likely cause permanent ban due to plagiarism. Most of shitposters end with permanent bans.

If you turn into someone like this, you should ask theymos to change the account name from Jet Cash to Jet Trash. I just kidding.  Roll Eyes

8389  Other / Meta / Re: The reason behind "permanent" banning? on: February 01, 2019, 02:19:12 AM
It looks a bit harsh and cruel to permanently ban an account for spamming, plagiarism, or whatever the (similar) reason is. It's like a lifetime prison!
Before starting a topic like this, you should read or re-read the pinned topic first.
Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ
The rule #33 (last one) is:

33. Posting plagiarized content is not allowed.[e]
And, theymos emphasized that even years after the publishing day of posts, if plagiarism found, users will get permanent ban.
I will quote the original post of theymos later, when I saw it again, not found ATM.  I don't remember where I read it Embarrassed

Recent weeks, one user raised a request to un-ban for permanent banned users if they improved over time (or something like this, if I remembered well).

I am never completely tied to anything, but let's try this for at least a few months and see how it works.
It takes a few months before adjustments on Trust system been made.
By now, around 3 weeks after the activation of new trust algorithm, I saw some things, both positive (in green) and negative (in red):
(1) A new generation of self-made higher ranked members voted into new Trust list
They are inspirational stories that constructive and trustworthy users can play important roles in the forum, no matter what where they come from.
Around one year ago, at the start of merit system, some DT1 members were Members, Junior Members or even Newbies.
Within more than one year, fully contributed to the forum, they got acceptance and trust from forum community.
They deserve for all their dedication to the forum.
I congratulate them for their achievements! [Let's call it achievement]
Case studies: iasenko, Coolcryptovator, ICOEthics, asche.
The new DT1 Trust list (update on 29/1/2019)

(2) There are abusements on Trust votes.
I known that the Distrust mechanism will play a role here for abusement cases.
However, it always takes time to discover abusers. It means that in early hours or days after get new Trusts, those abusers can scam forum users.
In most cases, they often get distrust after found by other DT1 members or forum users.
It is risky for forum users at somewhat extent.
For me, I tend to careful when see someone who got a little bit Trust points. I admit that they are potentially better than me (of course, I don't have Green Trust, LOL), but some of them are potential Trust Abusers.

Let's see how theymos deal with it by next improvements.

Sorry, it's my bad mistake.
What I wanted to write is previledges to display images, but I don't know why I wrote avatar.
I already corrected my post.
You're wrong. A user can only upload profile picture (avatar)  when s/he ranks up to full member and above. The copper membership only comes with some privilege as the member rank like wearing signature, uploading image in text and not uploading an avatar.

For those cases, I known it well.
In another topic, it is well known that there are several local moderators who can wear avatar, even when they are still newbies.
It's not a bug of forum, at all.. You are wrong!
Quote
Those lower rank users you see with avatar are does who were wearing one before the implementation of the new Avatar rule and others might be bug from the system  (theymos still yet to address this issue)

There you go with statement from theymos
Yes, it's the same as always. Currently there are 3 patrollers and 20 non-patroller local moderators. (I saw someone say elsewhere that all mods have jurisdiction over newbies, but this isn't true.) At some points in the past there have been more patrollers, but that's not necessarily indicative of a shortage.

8392  Other / Meta / Re: Who will be the first user to reach 10,010 activity? on: January 31, 2019, 04:15:09 AM
When someone reach the threshold at 10.010 activity count, they will get the new rank / badge, something like 'Elite'?
Is there still the slightest chance of a new rank, it’s been discussed so many times but I think there are too many Legendary Members at the moment. Some got lucky with the 1000 Merit airdrop who were still Hero Members pre Merit System.

I think an ‘Elite’ rank or ‘Lambo’ member would be awesome achievable by 2000 Activity & 2000 Merit.
I think that the threshold at 10.010 is more appropriate one, than 2000.
Why?
Even, by now, Hero and Ledgendary ranks have same rights in the forum, so I think we should have an extremely high threshold for next rank.
The next rank, probably gives forum members who have it, a more respectful view from others (no more rights/ priviledges).

- Making your efforts and self-promoting to a Full Member;
- Buying a Copper Membership, will give some priveledges, except wearing avatar.

Remember that there are two payment gates available for now: BTC, and Grin coin. The paid rate in Grin coin will change over time by manual setup by theymos, forum admin.
More details are available there: Paid Copper Memberships

8395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.10.0 on: January 31, 2019, 03:51:49 AM
It's true.
I have not been in crypto for too long, but during my nearly two years in the crypto market, I have not seen congestions on Dogecoin network. It's amazing, honestly.
Even bitcoin, Ethereum congested sometime.
Yes, you are right dogecoin will not die in the market due to because it blockchain confirmations are very fast compared to others.

Gambling sites tend to use Dogecoin as one of their basic payment gates.

Now, most of the gambling sites are using one of the payment methods for betting, so there is a huge chance for the Doge to increase it's price once the market starts recovering.
8396  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Be careful of not getting red-tags by advertising a known scam in your signature on: January 30, 2019, 03:01:09 PM
I have one question in mind.

Is it considerable if someone's been away for a week not touching his account and within that timeframe the signature campaign he's been wearing is being accused as scammer. After getting back from his account he received a negative trust from a DT member, can he prove it that he's been away around that time and too late to know that the campaign he joined is scam?
Yeap, I think that DT members will check last active days of applicants before dropping red tags on them.
Applicants who still been actively in the forum, but simply ignore warning should be tagged, whislts in-active ones should not be tagged.

Having a rude and impolite behavior against DTs, Admins, and the current System
Nice suggestion, but I would like to know original post of this quote. Where is it?
I will think of it more before adding into the OP. I need more information.
Thank you, cabalism13.

You should change the title to passive phrase like "Guide to avoid getting red tagged before joining sig. campaigns". It is more appealing to read.

'GUIDE TO AVOID RED TAGS
DUE TO PROBABLE LACK OF KNOWLEDGE, CAREFULLNESS, AND ABUNDANT GREEDINESS'

I find this phrase incomplete and lacking of something.
'Due to lack of knowledge, carelessness and greediness...' you need to add something at the end that points out what to finish your sentence. I also fixed some of the words you used.

Hope this helps!

Thank you, fella.
I have still thought of relevant tittle for my topic.

Due to my own mistake by apply to join DuckDice.io campaign, I made the topic:
Guide on avoid red tags by supporting already known scam projects. (The topic's tittle might be changed later).
If you think that this one is relevant for your topic, please add it into your list.  Smiley

Edited: I edit it with more relevant title.

Promoting a project which turns out to be scam is not worthy of a red trust (this is my opinion), except it can be proven that the user had information about the scam, or found out at a later time and did not expose the developers.
It's possible to unknowingly enter a promotion campaign for a scam project.

The topic has been under construction.
Anyway, thanks for your contribution.
