841  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We all love Blockchains on: March 31, 2016, 09:46:30 AM
It has kind of been building for a while now.  For a long time everytime there was news about Blockchains, I thought it was a good thing for Bitcoin.

Now there seems to be a disconnect, with other Crypto currencies that shouldn't be names be associated with blockchains, whereas Bitcoin is THE blockchain.

I am not sure if it is directly a good thing for Bitcoin, but I don't think it can be a bad thing, so I am undecided overall.
842  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is not investment! on: March 30, 2016, 05:22:11 AM
I would say that Bitcoin is money, but it isn't accepted enough to be easily used as a currency.
It is probably used more as an investment, but then the US dollar is used as an investment in lots of 3rd world countries, so that doesn't mean that it can't be a currency and/or money too.

I see it much more like Gold at the moment though.  It is money, but places don't accept it as currency, so you have to go through steps to trade it for currency before spending it.  That makes it harder to use, so people treat it like an investment.
843  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: March 30, 2016, 05:16:16 AM
I love stories like that.  The guy probably didn't really think that Leicester would win the league, but just wanted to bet on them as a kind of sign that he is a fan.  I've done it before when you bet on something that you would like to happen, but don't think really will.

In my case they don't win, in his it looks like they will!  Congrats to him, just don't bet it all on Leicester again next season!
844  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: International Games Prediction Thread on: March 30, 2016, 05:12:33 AM
I am pretty sure about England it will beat Netherlands in tonight match, i have my bet on England ML on this match, Germany vs Italy both teams to score will be wonderful pick there.

Of course I'm also confident England ML yesterday England beat Germany at home whereas German better than England
and today England  playing at home ground they have no trouble against Netherlands

Usually England wait until a tournament to let us all down by losing when expected to win!
Still think they look quite decent, but really they were quite lucky against Germany, then lost vs Holland.

I won't be backing them to win the Euros, in fact I bet they don't get to the semi finals.
845  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The "Azure" Effect on Altcoins..................................... on: March 29, 2016, 05:27:09 PM
I think the game is up now, Azure bounces will be much smaller and more controlled.
Really the first few were the big ones, or very small coins being added.

The next moves will be banks ro big companies testing out blockchains, that should help Ether or other smart contract basis coins
846  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: International Games Prediction Thread on: March 29, 2016, 05:24:24 PM
Oops somehow when I looked in livescore, I could only see the south american games, so I thought there were no European games.
Now I see that there are loads of friendlies.  I reckon England will beat Holland and Germany will beat Italy.

Germany were better than England at the weekend, so shouldn't lose heart, but England also look pretty dynamic and should beat a struggling Holland.
847  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: International Games Prediction Thread on: March 29, 2016, 08:49:27 AM
Well I guess today will be Columbia against Ecuador, given that there are essentially no other games going on!

Ecuador are leading the qualification group with 4 wins from 5. Columbia are a decent team, especially at home.
I would take a shot on the draw, seems the most likely result.
848  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NYTimes Article - Ethereum, a Virtual Currency, Enables Transactions That Rival on: March 28, 2016, 05:16:38 PM
It came from VC funding from people like Goldman Sachs.  They now want a return on their investment and need somebody to dump on, but the ship is sinking due to lack of fundamentals:

http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1361602.0

It is hilarious to see Peter Thiel, Larry Summers, Blythe Masters and their gang of thugs trying to compete in hi-tech where they are not sufficiently knowledgeable to know whether the BS they are told by the geeks they hire is valid.

I think it is about time to wipe their corrupt asses with the technological floor.

It required 3 years of research to become deeply knowledgeable about block chain technological and economic issues. You can't just scratch the surface and expect to not make dumb mistakes.

I have essentially no idea how Bitcoin works.  I also don't really know how SWIFT really works, or a credit card payment.
I am an end user.  As long as the product works for me, I am happy.  If Ether offers me advantages over Bitcoin, I would use it ahead of Bitcoin.

I guess these hi-tech guys are the same, they have tech guys to work out the details, they just want a nice GUI for the end user.
849  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [RADS] Radium - Bringing Advanced Utility to the Blockchain on: March 28, 2016, 04:01:42 PM
Downloaded the qt and bought some Rad in Poloniex.
I find the project interesting, I am not 100% sure I understand it, but the premise sounds good!

I do like a good PoS coin too.
850  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SFR SaffronCoin will jump in price very soon :) on: March 27, 2016, 08:08:11 AM
i have info from sources that its gonna rise it may be a pump but it will happen and its will get to at least x10 , look at the books on bittrex and check how many bitcoin it gonna take to reach to reach 5k sat!

Im not telling to bank your money in it, but just giving some friendly advice Smiley enjoy your trading my friend.

So your 'news' is that the price will rise, not that they have an announcement, or will be added to another exchange or something?

This thread belongs in the Poloniex troll box, it has no information, it just blindly predicts that the price will rise, and you are obviously posting because you have bought in cheap.  Thanks for the 'info' though.
851  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Litecoin will see 10$ and above 2016 on: March 27, 2016, 08:04:57 AM
People buying and/or promoting Ether over Litecoin have very, very tiny brains.

I am not sold on Ether, but why litecoin?

It really offers very little that bitcoin doesn't, the new Alts, or even the old ones like Primecoin or Peercoin, are/were innovative.
If someone released litecoin in 2014 or 2015, it would just be another crappy alt, but as it is older it has some respect from many of the community.

I just don't see why!
852  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Digital Ocean supports blockchain campaign on: March 27, 2016, 08:01:24 AM

Check out this:

Your title says that DO supports blockchains, but what you mean to say is that DO don't support blockchains but you think that they should.

That is very different! I could write - eBay accepts Bitcoin with 10% discount, but it doesn't make it true!
853  Economy / Goods / Re: Silver Coin at Spot Price on: March 27, 2016, 07:46:02 AM

i have gold caoin, and want to make duet with silver coin,so i can put that on my room on couple case.

Coin has been sold to me.... here is a picture:

Nice one, a Koala at spot is good value, they tend to go for $4-5 over spot.

I had expected a round or a maple leaf.
854  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: International Games Prediction Thread on: March 26, 2016, 07:48:39 PM
As it's a friendly game and before a major tournament, I think England will win today.

We generally like to build up expectations before big tournaments, so we can let everyone down even more when the important games starts!

1-2
855  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mens World Half Marathon Championships on: March 26, 2016, 03:09:55 PM
no football today, or not much interesting stuff anyway.

Is there any crypto bookie that is offering prices on the world half marathon championships?
I would like to bet on Kamworor, though I think him and Karoki will battle it out.

I don't think Farah will be an issue in the race, unless they stupidly run a slow race and let him out kick them at the end.

Pretty much exactly as expected!  Mo should never have been favorite in the Half Marathon, he is a sit and kicker, but when they run 59 pace, he isn't going to be nearby to kick at the end.

A good effort from him anyway, but Kamworor is just class.
856  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: These are the biggest names in bitcoin and blockchain tech on: March 26, 2016, 01:27:32 PM
Bottom of the biggest names in Bitcoin, isn't really bad though!

The names at the top are generally foreign to me, Blythe Masters I though was just a big pump and dump merchant, but maybe I have them mixed up with someone else.  Satoshi Nakamoto obviously should be number 1, I guess they might mean the biggest active names today.

858  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Was the first PoS coin Peercoin...? on: March 26, 2016, 09:03:09 AM
Shouldn't peercoin be big by now? I mean people could have invested and be staking constantly for years now.
It is easily tradeable, was once popular, mine/stakeable by all.  I don't understand why it has been relegated to the lower levels of the Crypto world.

It was once in the top 5 cryptos, now it's 11th between Emercoin and Stellar!
859  Economy / Economics / Re: Platinum as an Investment? on: March 26, 2016, 08:59:33 AM
I am quite interested in Rhodium.  I generally like to stack silver, and I would go for more gold but it is so linked to Silver and I get much less for my money.

Rhodium seems to have had a bitcoinesque bubble and now be on the other side. Does anyone know why that happened?

Supply shock.  Geopolitical unrest in Russia led to a constrained supply.  Meanwhile the automakers had all designed their production process to use only rhodium in catalytic converters (it was the cheapest of the PGMs at one time).  Because of the very small amount of rhodium used per vehicle and the cost of switching to another catalyst such as Pd, they were willing to pay nearly any price.

Thanks, it seems like there have been a few supply shocks over time, the price seems very volatile.

I have also read that there are some strange rules when buying Rhodium, i.e. you can't just pay x% over spot price, it is a bit dodgier and relies on what people are willing to sell it to you for, and if they choose to.
860  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Halve the block generation interval now! on: March 26, 2016, 08:56:42 AM
could you technically have a block every 5 minutes, but only half of the block are rewarded?
That wouldn't change too many of the general principals of Bitcoin, but would speed things up a lot.

Orphans aren't a major problem with 5 minute blocks, with 30 second blocks yes, LTC seems to get by ok.
