8681  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: September 12, 2018, 03:42:26 AM
I would like to suggest DASH team, including managers of the ANN topic reporting to the forum admins, moderators to lock all spammers, fudsters.
Of course, anyone can raise their ideas here, but without evidence, they should not call any project as a scam one.

The ANN topic of DASH project should be remained as pure as possible, out of trashes from fudsters.

Once upon a time, Satoshi created the BT forum.
Once upon a time, Satoshi cooperated with Theymos.
Once upon a time, Satoshi dissapeared and left the forum.
Once upon a time, Theymos took over a important role of Satoshi maintaining both functionality and survival of the BT forum.
And so on.

To sum up, Theymos has not been Satoshi at any odds.
Let's just take a step forward and say, "Theymos is Satoshi"!!
In addition, I don't see reasons for Theymos to leave the forum after looking at his donation address, and its transactional history. Grin
8683  Other / Meta / Re: Issues with Changing Avatar on: September 06, 2018, 08:56:06 AM
Sometimes, it takes time and a bit delayed period for the forum to update users' avatar.
Your issues have been raised and solved here:

I Can't Change My Avatar
I believe all things will be fined some hours later for your case.
8684  Other / Meta / Re: 6 sendable merit left [regular merit boost feature needed] on: September 05, 2018, 02:03:28 AM
Unless regular sMerit refill is very low (1-3 sMerit/month, depends on rank with Full Member/higher as minimum requirement), your idea would be abused easily and there's almost no point of merit source.
I don't think your suggestion is a good one.
It might lead to massive abusements on merit system and current rank requirements.
Slowly automatic distributed merits based on ranks will not make any sense in terms of controlling spamming endemics in the forum.
It might only delay the pace of ranking up a bit slower, but I believe that if the new distributional mechanism of merits implemented, it will allow spammers ranking up much faster than current ones.

In a nutshell, I don't support your suggestion.
8685  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CatoCoin : The Next Generation of Masternode Coins with NextGen Technology on: September 04, 2018, 02:53:17 AM
snip all.
I am not sure where are you from and why you joined the topic discussion.
As I guess in my last thread, Catocoin actually fell to around 6k satoshi, and bounced significantly from the price range to around 11k satoshi for now, right?
I did not force someone selling their coins at any case. I simply raised my ideas after looking at 'real' orders in the market.

As I saw, you have not joined the topic since its start or at least its early stage, why you come today and created something like aggressive threads on others like this. I doubt on your purpose to do this.  Roll Eyes

Moreover, I am not a native English speaker, and maybe I missed something but in my understanding, it's a little bit hardly to get your ideas on your lastest two threads in the topic.

Only English threads here, please.
8686  Other / Meta / Re: 6 sendable merit left on: September 04, 2018, 02:36:55 AM
Honesly, I don't understand @vlom's ideas in the thread, too.
However, it's interesting to see rare situation when a Ledgendary member added to Ignore List of another Ledgendary member.
But users that most of the time just "chat" wont get any merit. Dont say chatting = spamming. There can be a big difference.
I don't even understand what you're trying to say here.  This is why you're on my ignore list.

If your suggestion really implemented, the merit system and current rank requirements will be destroyed due to merit distribution abusements.
I don't think forum users will support your ideas (of course, except spammers), and @Theymos will never implement it.
Automatically distributed merits for specific period of time. It also means that forum users won't have to contribute anything to the forum, wait patiently for a while before getting new merits and new sMerits, it will not make any difference with old rank system which only focuses on activity counts.
But i think that after some time users should get a new bunch of merit that can be sent. They dont have to count for the ranking up or dont have to be displayed.

That's the point. Merits and sMerits only worthy for ranking up. Real contributors will not pay their attention on Merits and sMerits. They will mainly focus on their ideas when composing threads, when joining disucssions, when help others with their unique ideas (only sometimes), helpful ideas (most of the time).
You don't need smerits to chat.
8687  Other / Meta / Re: I've just awarded this guy with 3 merits on: September 04, 2018, 02:17:47 AM
lol, I don't think so.
I don't know there are rules related to low-quality threads as one of violations on forum rules, at least with all current rules of the forum as I known.
Furthermore, let's think of it neutrally, sometimes all of us can fall into wrong directions, fall into off-topic ideas. So, it's really strange to ban someone due to making off-topic threads. It is likely extremely strict criteria, in my point of view. Applying such criteria might lead to banning massive bans on forum users, including non-spammers.
In contrast, I agree with you that most of spammers fall into off-topic discussions with their shit-shows.
we can only report the post as low-quality (because text spinners are not perfect yet, so there will be some words and expressions that are just not right in that specific context...) and you can't ban a member because of the low-quality posts, can you?
Restricting users at specific ranks and above can enable to wear signature, increasing required merits to rank up, especially for Junior member and Member ranks, might have considerable effects. The approach has been disccussed somewhere in the forum over months, as I known.
As I suggested in my other threads, the forum should have new rank requirements, which specifically focus on lower-ranked members (because those sort of users are the most annoying ones in the forum, have dominant contribution to spamming endemic):
- 10 Merits to rank up to Junior Member.
- 50 Merits to rank up to Member.
I strongly believe that if it implemented, big difference to come for sure.

You are welcome!
Thank you for sharing useful information. I predict you come from Viet Nam. Me too.
I am from Vietnam, too. Glad to see you here.

I predict you come from Viet Nam. Me too.
I don't know but there are many events, conference on blockchain which was held recent months, presented by Vietnamese guys and international guys.
You can join those ones, which are helpful for your interest.

I join in this market almost 1 year but the basic concepts of blockchain often make difficult for me. Can you recommend some document or some group can provide basic knowledge about blockchain in Vietnamese ?

Really?
Where are you from? China? I guess so by looking at your username.
Currently in my country only teaching blockchain, there is no teaching of any cryptocurrency, I think this may have a relationship with the policy!
8689  Other / Meta / Re: I've just awarded this guy with 3 merits on: September 03, 2018, 02:44:19 AM
Good to hear your merit give-away tactics like this.
I decided to give my merits to persons of lower ranks, from newbie to senior member.
I don't think so.
Deserved threads are deserved ones, for sure.
I doesn't make sense if you have a opinion like "Wow, this is an excellent thread, deserved merits but I don't give that guy and his/ her thread merits because he/she has stood at higher ranks already". It sounds really weird, in my point of view.

Another reason is, giving your merits away to deserved threads from higher ranked members will help them having more sMerits to give away to others, including lower-ranked members.
I don't see any conflict of interest here!
Quote
I think it's not fair to give merits to high ranked users. I do not say that they do not deserve to, but what for they need it? But low ranked members really need it to raise. Unfortunately, posts I like and found informative and interesting in the most of cases belong exactly to high ranked members.
Plagiarism is one of the worst behavior in human society, including the BT forum.

This guy is pretty good, but the case of plagiarism made me to change my opinion about him.
8690  Other / Meta / Re: I've just awarded this guy with 3 merits on: September 03, 2018, 02:38:12 AM
Oh dear, that will teach me to jump to conclusions without doing enough research. I only checked the post I merited.
The fact is long thread which focuses on bitcoin or altcoin discussions might come from articles by plagiarism.
It doesn't not right all the time, but during my time I experience in the forum, most of plagiarised threads concentrate on those sort of categories.

Personally, I will spend a little time to check whether that sort of thread plagiarised or not by using Google search.
8691  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Merits in bitcoin on: September 02, 2018, 02:02:26 PM
How will you earn merit in bitcoin?
For the OP,
I don't answer your question directly because there are lots of available answers for you.

Firstly, if you know how to use Search function of the BT forum or Searching Tools like Google, you can find available answers for you.
Then, you won't have to create a new topic to ask for help like this.
This is a topic which created to help using Search Function more efficiently.
[Tips] Guide for forum search

These ones will help you to discover essential things of the forum:
- Newbies – Read before posting (Lauda)
- Unofficial list of (ocfficial) bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ

There are several helpful topics:
- Different ways to earn merits
- TMAN's guide to getting merits
- Full Member thanks to merit system (iasenko)
- etc. There are obviously more helpful topics, which you can find them by yourself.

Bonus:
It is a collective topic from @LoyceV. You should spend minutes or hours to find out:
[GUIDES] on Bitcointalk. Index thread (until there is a dedicated subforum?)
There are also different approaches to 'legally' earn merits:
- Contributing to the forum discussions with constructive, helpful, on-context uniqe - if possible - threads. (sounds boring, right? I believe it is one of the most boring recommendations because you can see it many times in the forum).
- Making statistical analysis on many aspects of the forum. For example: Merit distributions, merit abusements, data storage sources for later use, etc.
- Etc.

Essentially, it's for local privacy only, not online privacy.
Got the important point.
Thank you for your help, @o_e_l_e_o
8693  Other / Meta / Re: Why don't DuckDuckGo and Bing show bitcointalk results? on: September 02, 2018, 01:17:37 PM
Really? Even if I use Google Chrome Browser with Igconito window?
Chrome is one of the worst in terms of privacy and tracking.
Are there serious reasons which made you hesitately using Brave browser?
Quote
Firefox is generally a better choice. I've also heard some good things about the new Brave browser that is integrated with BAT on Ethereum, but I've never used it myself.
I tend to use officially browsers and their built-in private features. Because using add-ons from third parties probably more risky, personally.
Quote
Regardless of which browser you use, there are many settings tweaks and add-ons you can install that will improve your security and privacy.
Anyway, thanks for the link, which I will discover about it later.

Obviously not as good as Tor, but certainly better than nothing. I'd suggest taking a look here for starters: https://www.privacytools.io/#browser

Thanks @Coolcryptovator for creating this helpful topic.
By the way, I would like to give link to another topic on designing signature, text with many sorts of effects. I believe you known it, but I suggest to add the topic here to help others who might have intention to find out more on BBcodes and want to design by themselves.
[LEARN] BBCode Lessons & Tutorials [+tutorial videos!] by @roslinpl.

Hope it helps!
8695  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [GUIDES] on Bitcointalk. Index thread (until there is a dedicated subforum?) on: September 02, 2018, 07:38:45 AM
I would like to suggest the topic, which created by @Coolcryptovator
How to make your signature/post colorize easy and free.
In fact, the topic is not a guideline, but inside the OP, readers can find a helpful link to the following website: www.stuffbydavid.com which is very helpful, convenient for someone who are not familiar with using BBcodes.
It's very easy to create BBCodes for readers' own interests.

As the topic author warned, "Never try over-using text effects".
8696  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Prevent your bitcointalk account from hacker- prevention is better then cure. on: September 02, 2018, 07:33:06 AM
Thank you. I have never deeply thought of it before finding your recommendation.
For now, I understood that setup secret question is one of the most risky way to secure BT account.
* Setup your secrete question on your Bitcointalk account profile.
Don't do this! As it says on your Profile page: "Using this feature is not recommended.".
Social engineering makes this insecure, it's very likely somebody else can answer your question too. And for that reason, your account get locked if you try to regain access by using the secret question.

A little bit additional suggestion:
- Never using same password on different services, platforms, etc. Especially if someone use same email on different places.
Quote
Best thing to do: don't set a secret question, set a strong password.
8697  Other / Meta / Re: Why don't DuckDuckGo and Bing show bitcointalk results? on: September 02, 2018, 03:15:09 AM
~
You will need to know the domain address to find a keyword on duckduckgo
To be honest, it is much complicated.
I just tried using TOR Browser after @LoyceV give me link to Tor Browser, which developed by DeepOnion project.
Got the same issues as the OP author and all of you.
It's too complicated, required more time, more efforts when searching on duckduckgo. Consequently, I might consider stop using Tor and switching back to Google Chrome, which is much more convenient.
8698  Other / Meta / Re: "Incorrect captcha" with Tor, getting worse? on: September 01, 2018, 12:46:44 PM
It's probably much easier than you think: download Tor Browser, and run it.
Wow, thank you for your help, @LoyceV.
I downloaded Tor Browser and enjoy it with my own experience now.
8699  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Available courses on Bitcoin and Blockchain Technology from colleges and Univers on: September 01, 2018, 07:03:15 AM
The topic looks silently over weeks.
Today, I would like to give you all (current guys who joined the topic discussions and someone will join later) a helpful topic, which created by @LoyceV:
[GUIDES] on Bitcointalk. Index thread (until there is a dedicated subforum?)
Of course, the topic is not a course on blockchain, but inside the topic, you can find lots of helpful Guidelines on blockchain in general and on bitcoin in particular.

Enjoy it, everyone!

I use Tor a lot
It is not relating to your question, but I would like to know how to use Tor.
Can you give me links to your most favorite documents related to Tor and how to use it, please.
