921  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Want to quit? Here's how on: January 16, 2019, 04:07:34 PM
Im hard to quit a gambling, you know, I was fascinated with it and co-friends, thanks for your advises.

Well, I think you need other people to help you to get out from gambling because the longer you quit gambling, the more money you will lose. Besides that, the big risk you should face later when you feel difficult to quit gambling is you will become addicted in gambling and in that time, it's hard to solve the addiction so it's better to quit gambling while you can.
Quitting gambling does not require someone else so you can get out, the only thing that can get you out of gambling is just yourself. A strong desire to gambling because you have become an addict will be difficult to let go and the help of others is not the right way, IMO. Maybe someone else can give a gambling addict with advice that might help, but if a gambler still doesn't have a strong desire to quit, then the advice will be useless.

I think it is a bad idea to forcefully get someone to quit their addiction.  They need to be ready to do it themselves, friends can only do so much and they may end up destroying their relationship.  I've seen my own friends turn to drugs before and they were not going to quit until they were ready, it didn't matter what the people around them said.
922  Economy / Economics / Re: what should consider before investing in a coin? on: January 16, 2019, 03:51:13 PM
The game of investing in new coins is a bit risky and for one to make it you have to be smart and lucky this is because if you don't choose the right ICO to invest in your found may never yield any profits and may even be taken away from you by scammer all in the name of ICO.
Absolutely true. For me, it's like magic to foresee 1 project out of maybe 100 others will go to the moon. How could that possible? I heard guys who noticed Tron or others in the right moment. But how? Do you have recipe or formula for this?

People aren't going to share their secret sauce to getting rich.   They simply do the research required which means a lot of hard work going through different companies/projects.  Those that invest during the stealth phase come out on top, they are the ones dumping while the newbies are buying near the top.
923  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lots of doubt on on: January 16, 2019, 03:39:28 PM
I see more and more people are starting to doubt Bitcoin because the price doesn't go up in this new year. Honestly, I am always optimistic and continue to wait for the increase even I know that the price increase cannot be timed. So what and what should I do now?

Lol, its only 14 days into the first month of the year and people are already losing hope?  These people need to be more patient and wait till the end of the year if they are waiting for those big gains.  If you can't handle the pressure yourself you can sell now and just forget about cryptocurrency entirely.  Some of us can handle the dips but others aren't strong enough mentally to stomach it.
924  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Indian Banks Closing A/cs of Customers Who Buy BTC on: January 13, 2019, 06:52:47 PM
If enough people leave this bank then they will change their policy.  The power is held by the customers if enough of them are united.

Credit card companies tried to do the same thing with coinbase and many customers left their service and signed up for a different card instead.
925  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I'm against progpow on: January 13, 2019, 06:45:22 PM
It shouldn't matter to you, only support the projects that you believe in with your hash power.  The community will be the one that decides in the end.

We need multiple algorithms anyways, it is too much of a security risk to have everyone coin be too similar in case of a major security flaw.
926  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum 40$ in 1-2 weeks on: January 13, 2019, 06:40:22 PM
This thread was created in December and almost 1 month ago. I think it's natural that people speculate about the market. this is a natural thing but indeed ethereum prices are still above.

It has gotten ridiculous, we see new threads every time it moves up 10 percent or down 10 percent.  I swear some people on this forum have no attention span and they only think short term.  They are the types that would of sold bitcoin at $5 after buying it at $1 and thinking they made out like bandits.
927  Economy / Speculation / Re: The market is looking boring 2019 on: January 13, 2019, 06:31:53 PM
Boring isn't a bad thing, this just may be the calm before the storm.  Things should really start picking up and this temporary dip won't last long so use this opportunity to buy in cheap.

I don't think the ETF matters either, bitcoin already hit 20k without an ETF or institutional money.
928  Economy / Economics / Re: why are you sure the bitcoin will be make economic freedom? on: January 13, 2019, 06:25:49 PM
Bitcoin may not be the best system in the future but right now it is the only one we have to break away from the bank's stranglehold over us.  A lot of people that have invested over the past year have claimed to care about decentralization but they only came here for the quick money and to quickly cash out their profits in fiat.
929  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Where we are now with Gambling on: January 13, 2019, 06:20:51 PM
It is the gift and curse of online gambling.  We all have much easier access to games but you miss the social interaction of going to a real life casino.  Also people are getting paid less these days so they don't have as much money to spend on going out and buying expensive drinks and paying for shows.
930  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BCH fork on COINBASE on: January 13, 2019, 06:11:23 PM
They got greedy and sold off the BCH SV to line their own pockets.  I'm sorry to say this but I wouldn't trust Coinbase anymore.  They used to have a really good reputation but they started adding shitcoins and will do anything for money at this point, stay away.
931  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 10 years ago Hal Finney called first... "Running bitcoin" on: January 13, 2019, 05:57:44 PM
A lot of people wish they got into bitcoin back then but I doubt anyone would have thought it would reach any substantial value and most would probably dismiss the whole thing as a scam.

There are a lot of people that think Hal was actually Satoshi and the communication between the two was all just an act, who knows.
932  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What? Where? How? on: January 12, 2019, 03:18:56 PM
Sometimes casinos hold special promotions that are similar to what you are talking about but it is usually not in the best interest of a business to just be handing out free money.  I wouldn't even waste your time with faucets anymore, you will get a few pennies at most.
933  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We are the 15% on: January 12, 2019, 03:14:19 PM
https://cointelegraph.com/news/long-dormant-bitcoin-whales-resuming-activity-could-rock-price-action-analysts-say

According to this, 1000 addresses own 85% of ALL the bitcoins out there.  If that is true, then bitcoin is a scam.

centralised coins are quite common,

its same with ethereum (vitalik)

or ripple (garvin)

the true scam comes from the cryptocurrency index system that defines "shitcoins" and "nonshitcoins"

this distinguishinsation will weaken in time

You can say the same thing about every currency to have ever existed.  Eight people own more than the entire bottom half of the population.  Whether it is USD, Euro, gold, or crypto the majority of the supply will end up in the hands of the few that own capital that creates the actual wealth.
934  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Merit "trading" - buying and selling Bitcointalk merit on: January 12, 2019, 03:02:51 PM
Honestly most people that were already a Hero or Legendary member like the merit system because it makes it difficult for new users to rank up to their level so they feel more special to be in an exclusive club.  Of course not everyone is like this but it is sort of a screw you I got mine mentality that we see in the world today.
935  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: the house always win???? on: January 12, 2019, 02:56:10 PM
New gambling sites often go out of business, they have to compete with many other casinos and spend money on maintenance and advertising. Don't assume it is some easy business that allows you to make easy money.  Since most bitcoin casinos are operating with a very small house edge they can be decimated by a few whales hitting it big.
936  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: A good Debit Card for BTC? / Is UPayCard working? on: January 12, 2019, 02:44:56 PM
I thought the point of bitcoin was to cut out the middlemen? Roll Eyes

If you can look for stores that accept bitcoin directly without using a middlemen that is essentially making your payment in fiat after taking their cut for very little work.
937  Economy / Economics / Re: How to wake up a bear? on: January 12, 2019, 02:32:24 PM
Friends, what are you doing now, when the market situation continues to deteriorate, in your opinion how to take advantage of such a serious decline in order to win at least something? Did you manage to wake up the bear and get at least a small profit? Have you bought any coins in the hope of growth in the new year? I  am only waiting for the market to wake up.

You have to do something else to make money for your own and try to make regular trades that could give you a winning trade. But do it carefully in a market like this.

There are some good threads in the "Trading Discussion" section with people showing their exact trades and what strategy they use to make a profit even in a  bear market.  It is worth checking out if you are a beginner at reading markets and day trading.
938  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How the Satoshi looks like? on: January 12, 2019, 02:27:05 PM
A lot of people assume he is Asian because of the Japanese sounding name.  It could just be a misnomer to throw us all off the trail though.

Most people I have talked to think Satoshi isn't a single person but a group of people that worked to bring bitcoin to life.
939  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Bitify Escrow is Scam | bitify.com on: January 11, 2019, 06:42:08 PM
I never had a problem using Bitify and I have purchased many things on their website.  As long as you only deal with reputable sellers you should be fine.  If the situation is escalated to a dispute it may get messy and it is up to a third party to decide which is the same as using ebay or Amazon.
940  Economy / Marketplace / Re: $1 Billion Dollar’s Worth of Cryptocurrency Stolen in 2018 on: January 11, 2019, 05:27:20 PM
This my seem like a lot but think about how much fiat money gets stolen each year from identity fraud and other means.  Central banks are the ones that are robbing us blindly in more ways then you can imagine.

Also a lot of these exchange hacks are really just inside jobs, they use the hacks to keep all blame pointed at others.
