941  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: A few questions before I buy a Bitcoin ASIC device on: February 28, 2016, 01:46:29 PM
The idea of mining is very popular with newbies, it is like getting something for nothing.
In reality mining is normally a money losing, or at best a break even venture, unless you have free electricity and get lucky with the difficulty increases.

If you need the questions answered, I would recommend not mining bitcoin.  Try mining on an CPU alt like Primecoin, see how much you get and how much fun it is!  You will be happy you saved your money on ASICs.
942  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: EU Plans To End Anonymity For Bitcoin And Prepaid Card Users on: February 28, 2016, 01:42:10 PM
Its a bad news, i am using bitcoin because of the anonymous factor, if this really happen, i think i will try to look for other coin that can provides anonymity

It is typical, they find that bitcoin isn't being used for terrorism, but they need to control it anyway.
I don't mind having a KYC for a reputable exchange, but when I spend my bitcoin at a bitcoin accepting establishment, there should be anonymity.

We don't have to show ID when we pay in cash, it should be the same for bitcoin
943  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: February 28, 2016, 08:09:20 AM
I find it a tough one to call.  Man Utd are sometimes dreadful, but sometimes they reaise there games to an ok level.
Arsenal might have beaten Leicester last week, but that was with a lot of refereeing help, at home, and in the 93th minute.

I think Arsenal might enjoy the step down from playing Barca during the week, to playing Man Utd now.  I think they might have a bit of success against Man Utds poor defence, so I will take Arsenal to win, with more than 2.5 goals scored.
944  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: February 28, 2016, 08:05:55 AM
A couple of interesting games today in the Bundesliga.
Mainz have been good recently, or at least they have been getting good results.  They don't tend to do very well against Leverkusen though.
I think that Leverkusen will sneak this one by one goal, so 0-1 or 1-2.

Dortmund look like they are back to near their level of a couple of years ago now.  At home against Hoffenheim should be an easy win by 2 - 3 goals.
945  Economy / Services / Re: ★☆★ 777Coin Signature Campaign ★☆★ Earn up to .0007/Post (Newb-Hero Welcome) on: February 28, 2016, 08:01:38 AM
Maybe this has been brought up before, but is no one else concerned that the person hosting this signature campaign is not even advertising the service they are paying out for? Why is the original poster showing a Bitvest advert?

lightlord owns both 777coin and bitvest so I don't think there is something wrong if the owner adertise the other one. Cheesy
He never failed to pay anyway so advertising whatever they want doesn't bother them at all. The only downside of this campaign is the late payments.

In the original post there are two avatar links, one that doesn't work, and one for Bitvest!  I too thought it was a little odd that I should have 777Coin as my sig, but Bitvest as my avatar, but if that is how they want it, then so be it!

Seeing that the Bitvest avatar was used in the OP actually confirmed to me that I hadn't made a mistake.
946  Economy / Speculation / Why A Hedge Fund Manager Who Made A Killing From Subprime Is Buying Bitcoin on: February 27, 2016, 12:40:20 PM
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-02-26/why-hedge-fund-manager-who-made-killing-subprime-buying-bitcoin

This seems like fairly sound logic, and is very bullish for Bitcoin.  So little money would have to move into bitcoin to move the price into 4 figures. As they say:
Quote
sit back and watch as we witness the second coming of the bitcoin bubble, one which could make the previous all time highs in the digital currency, seems like a low print.
947  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: February 27, 2016, 08:58:25 AM
Every week Leicester are overprices as people expect them to fold under the pressure of being top.
Against Arsenal they probably would have won if it wasn't for a dodgy red in the first half, even then Arsenal just snuck it at home!

At home against Norwich, Leicester should easily win, unless they start to feel the pressure that it!
948  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: February 27, 2016, 08:55:12 AM
I think VfB Stuttgart will win this match against Hannover easily, it looking Hannover is on very bad streak and can't defend as away so that from my opinion VfB Stuttgart @1.51 is very safe for betting and helpful to make some good good profit.

Somehow and kind of unfortunately, VfB have become really good recently.  A friend of mine is a Stuttgart fan and I used to like to mock him after most weeks games, but since the break they have looked excellent.

The prices reflect that too, but I expect that they will win today. No bet for me, I will wait for my team, Mainz05 to play tomorrow.
949  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Spanish League Prediction Thread (La Liga) on: February 27, 2016, 08:52:46 AM
Today's pick will be from the game Eibar VS Las Palmas

The event can be found here:
https://vegascasino.io/sportsbook/pre-live/event/ZQRMcvpqa7XNsuLa4?ref=tipster2

Match: Eibar VS Las Palmas
Betting option: Las Palmas+0.5
Odd:2.14
Stake:0.015 BTC (15mBTC)
Win:0.032 mBTC (32mBTC)

Las Palmas showed some sparks of good play Vs Barca, and won 3 games ago a great team- Celta Vigo.
Today they will come to fight and get at least one point.

Opinions?

Value bet is high odd pick, with 66.6% chance of win( double chance) with considerable reason to win (Eibar isn't the 6th strongest team in LA liga and I believe their place should be balanced to about 10-12.
The bookies tried to set us up with those high odds on Eibar. They knew Las Palmas will win today and made 95% of this forum to bet on Eibar.
Small tip: The bookies aren't suckers, they won't let us get easy money. Always check before you bet on your money, or ask people who do it. It will help you in long run.

Utter rubbish posted after the result claiming to have prior knowledge, that's called after timing.

Football isn't rolling a dice, so a double chance isn't 66.6% chance.
The bookies didn't know Las Palmas would win.
Bookies generally just follow Betfair prices now + a certain percentage.  They Don't need to be clever about it.

Check with whom about what? How about you 'let us know' in advance, then we can judge if you 'know'.  I can predict results perfectly after the game is over too!
950  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Spanish League Prediction Thread (La Liga) on: February 26, 2016, 02:59:10 PM
Eibar v Las Palmas - Under 2.5 Goals @ 1.84
I see Eibar favorite for this match but Money line bets are riskier than over/under goals. I think we won't see more than 2 goals in this match so I put my bet to under 2.5 goals.
yeah i think there is a very high chance that the game will finish 2-0 or 0-1 for Eibar because i don't think that Las Palmas could keep up with Eibar

I don't think I will be betting on this one as I haven't really had much chance to watch either of them play against non-Barca or Real teams, but Eibar look like a fairly solid bet to win at home against a team 11 places below them in the league.

That and that Las Palmas haven't won away from home all season losing 9 of 12 games, and Eibar have won 7 of 13 home games. Makes an Eibar win look fairly likely.
951  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you consider trading as gambling? on: February 26, 2016, 02:53:48 PM
Trading and Gambling are both same for me, as both are risky and waste of time, both involves risk of your money, which you can loose at any stage, so its better to stay away from both.

stay away from gambling is good, but don't stay away from trading, it's not bad. come closer to it, it's not waste of time. losing money can come back in trading.
I consider some trading gambling, and some gambling trading.

I used to use betfair a lot, and you can really trade in play quite a lot.  As something like a tennis match evolves, you can trade positions and end up with a green book, or a red book.  That is as much trading as FX trading is.
Trading something like bitcoin or an alt is pretty much gambling, especially if you do it with leverage.  They are too risky to be considered real trading, and without any prior warning you can lose everything in no time (unlikely in FX trading, unless you were short the CHF!)

952  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Google don't care about Bitcoin ? on: February 26, 2016, 02:47:11 PM
Why should google have an interest in Bitcoin, or a positive interest anyway?
Google is all about collecting and sorting information, they could make a good blockchain explorer and follow transction webs very well no doubt, but they don't really have any pressing need to get into Bitcoin.

The only real reason i see why google would try to co-opt Bitcoin would be so that they could have an 'open-source' competitor to Apple Pay.  Even then, they wouldn't be able to control bitcoin well enough to really call it their own, so something like Ripple would suit them much better.  Then they could have a failed payment system just like Apple!
953  Economy / Speculation / Re: The reason for BTC drop on: February 26, 2016, 02:43:02 PM
The reason for the latest drop of bitcoin is that the block size increase is too far in the future, It might affect transaction time.
What latest drop? The price is 1% up in the last week and 8% up in the last month?
The price is holding quite steady, I think the next push will take the price up to $500 or so.

There is a lot of economic and political uncertainty at the moment, something 'could' happen, like a new Leyman Brothers situation that would shoot Bitcoin massively higher, but otherwise things are ticking over, and in the right direction from a strong base!
954  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: February 26, 2016, 10:03:09 AM
Today bundesliga only have 1 match FC Cologne vs Hertha Berlin. And i think over 2.5 goals seems good on this match and Hertha Berlin ML. both teams to score also good though.
Hertha have been rubbish so far since the winter break. Played 5 lost 4 1 draw!  Not that cologne are really good or anything, but it is well worth mentioning that Hertha are still in 3rd, just because they were really good before the break.

I am actually leaning towards Cologne given that they are ok at home, hertha have only beeon ok away all season, and Herthas form is shocking!

So for me, Cologne or no bet.
955  Economy / Economics / Re: Will EU regulations on BTC change? on: February 25, 2016, 02:00:48 PM
I am happy with the current situation, as I understand it, in Germany.
If bitcoin are bought and held for longer that one year, then there is no capital gains tax due.

For me that means that half of the bitcoins I have I could sell now at a profit, and not have to worry about the taxes, the other half I have to hold a little longer, or pay tax on the gains.  1 year is a long time, but I don't anticipate selling out completely unless the price skyrockets stupidly, in which case I could also live with paying tax on the huge profits!

As long as the EU rules don't change to make all profits taxable, I will be happy.
956  Economy / Gambling / Re: I turned 1 BTC into 41.5 BTC! Now I want to withdraw... on: February 25, 2016, 11:02:00 AM
Really it is not a bad thing that they only had 7 bitcoins in the hot wallet, that is obviously the wallet that would be hacked or somehow stolen if they were to be hacked.
They must have more in a cold wallet, and I should arrange the transfer to you either offsite or at an agreed time.

Nice work on getting up to 41.5 bitcoin, and getting out before you lose it all!  The 2nd part is often the harder part of the equation.
957  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC FIGHT NIGHT 84 Prop Bets - 2 Picks for AS vs. Bisping on: February 25, 2016, 10:57:02 AM
I haven't watched UFC for quite a while, but should Anderson Silva not either be an absolute certainty to beat Bisping, or retire?!
I know he got done for PEDs, but for several years he was essentially untouchable.

Bisping is just a loud mouth with a punchers chance, but if it goes to the mat he is in trouble, standing, he is in trouble. Generally, he is in trouble!

If not, then please Anderson, retire!
958  Economy / Economics / Re: Long term OIL on: February 25, 2016, 07:50:28 AM
Recent news is that the oils long term fall is not over. It is expected the price of oil once again goes low by the coming weeks.
This looks to be a very bad situation for the countries whose economy is completely dependent on oil wealth.
In the short term yes, but if the price really does fall further, which I think would be unlikely, it will result in a real oil shortfall in the coming years.
Brazil have said that they won't auction any more exploration areas, as at $50 oil is far too cheap.  The major oil economies are all in trouble.  Investment is falling off a cliff, drilling of fracking wells is stopping.

The amount of money needed to restart will be much more than the running costs, so once they are closed, it will take time and investment (by those with burned fingers) to get them back up and running.  That along with the lag time associated means I think there will be an oil shortage in the next 10 years, with oils prices rising greatly.

I predict the return of $100 before 2020.
959  Economy / Economics / Re: Loans too risky? on: February 25, 2016, 07:44:32 AM
I know that people give out loans but what's up with people no returning what they borrowed?? I want to know this because I might give out loans myself and I want to know what to watch out for... I have ~800 BTC at the moment and would it be a bad idea to start loaning? I bought my BTC back in 2010 mid August January(when it was about $0.07 per BTC) and I noticed the price went up a ton! Also what would be some other way to grow my BTC? Any ideas on what I should do?

So your 800 BTC only cost about $56. If I were you I would even bother to think of way to loan it just to obtain little interest like 2-4% per year- the risk is too high. Convert half into cash and hodl the other half. Use the cash for a holiday or just keep the cash in the bank for the tiny interest (hopefully it is not negative interest in your country).

Use half of his bitcoin for a holiday? Half would be $170k, as he has a total of $340k in bitcoin.
I too strongly doubt that this is a serious question, but if you want to loan, you need to be picky, ask for collateral and be prepared to lose sometimes.

Also, unless you are seriously wealthy, I would suggest diversifying, rather than increasing your holdings!  Real estate and PMs would seem a good idea for someone with so much in Crypto.

Congratulations on buying and holding for so long, if what you posted is actually true.  I would guess that most who bought at sub $1, also sold at sub$10.
960  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Govts want crypto they can control on: February 25, 2016, 07:39:54 AM
sadly for them any crypto coin was especially designed to not be contorlled, contorlling a cryptocoin, goes against the fundamental rule about what crypto is in comparison to fiat

aside from this there is no real 100% decentralization, in fact bitcoin is a bit controlled by the most powerful entity that are mienrs and merchants especially, or at least they have a better position than a simple node

I am no Alts expert, but Ripple, Nxt and ETH are all centralized, along with I am sure many others.  Ripple especially could be easily controlled by someone who chooses too.
The question is, if a controlled/controllable cryptocurrency starts to take off, as ETH has been doing recently, will the bitcoin community buy into it and abandon bitcoin?

I expect most would use both, but greed would move many into the newly expanding currency, so that would fluorish, just as the government want.
