961  Other / Politics & Society / Re: At what point will one say that he or she has had enough money? on: July 19, 2023, 10:24:48 PM
you have to complete the question: When would you say is enough for ... what? That is the question that carries the answer in itself. What do you want your money for? To quit work, to enjoy a certain lifestyle or to create a fortune that goes on for generations. Perhaps the right advice is to set yourself a target and stick to it or else all the money in the world will not be enough for you, as it is human nature to always seek more.

Meanwhile, Ukraine seems to have lost access to the Black Sea. Physically, it is, but it is impossible or extremely difficult to use it. The naval blockade of Ukraine begins at 00:00 Moscow time on July 20, while nothing is known about the timing of the end of the blockade.

Oh, I see. So if an US ship and a Turquiyan ship decide to go to Odessa, the RF fleet in the Black Sea will go there and stop them / sink them? And then nothing will happen and no retaliation will take place because "the RF has decided to blockade". Is that what you mean? Is that how this plays out in your mind? So no more "smoking in the wrong place" accidents as a result?

Anyway, this is more a marketing campaign more than anything else, possibly to distract from the situation in Bakhmut.
963  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: July 17, 2023, 02:32:30 PM
If I were a Russian living in Crimea or other occupied territories I would start packing NOW.

Crimean Bridge is out of service, AGAIN. LOL.

Instead, crazy Russians seem pissed and volunteer for frontline in even bigger numbers

Story about wounded girl that lost mother and father in attack is as good as FSB could
ask for

Of course Branko, everyone is useful for the mission right?

I don't think the Russia-Ukraine conflict will end easily. Russia maintains war with Ukraine. On the other hand, Russia wants to take some parts of Ukraine for which they are continuing this war. Because if Russia can occupy some part of Ukraine then it is their own gain.

It has become a long term conflict, or at least it seems to becoming one, sadly.
The only thing about it which I would call positive is the fact that Russia alone cannot hold a long term battle against Ukraine alone, for now the Klemlin depends on the support of their biggest ally: The popular Republic of China.

If someone USA convinced or pressured Chine to stop their military and economical aid to Putin, then Russia would have it very difficult to continue their attacks, they already are getting in trouble economically being their cheap offer of energy a sample of it, in my opinion.

Id wish this non-sense stopped right now, if possible...

This caught my eye, think you have fundamental misunderstanding of the conflict, which puts you in a constant state of bewilderment as to why something is (or is not) happening. Your curios mind led you here for answers, but all the local clown "experts" (propagandists) can do, is to overwhelm you with irrelevant micro level information to sway you their way. Any macro questions are discouraged and just covered by "crazy orcs" or nazis, to dissuade any further questions.

Look at US/NATO military bases around China, looks where major military build up is happening outside of Ukraine theater, look at blockade of Cuba that's still going on for 30yrs+ any if anyone really cares for the right of sovereign nations or its people, and current justifications for it. Then ask yourself how long would the commie regime last after the fall of Russia and the sudden onset of democracy cookies (soft power) onto Kazakhstan. Then the question whether the nation that coined such phrases as "death by a thousand cuts" and "If you wait by the river long enough, the bodies of your enemies will float by" can be convinced or pressured into stopping aid to Russia, should becomes irrelevant. As well as shed some light on why this counteroffensive was so drummed up, how it's really going, what will happen in about 8 weeks, mid September, once weather changes and any maneuvering becomes impossible and we revert back to positional arty scorched earth advances. Might also look into who historically benefits from the winter season.

https://www.reuters.com/world/nato-open-japan-office-enable-indo-pacific-consultation-report-2023-05-03

Nah, CCP government has no more resilience than the USSR did - do you remember or were you busy when it collapsed?

China as any nation has interests and can be pressured and convinced (I think more convinced than pressured) if it is in their interest. China does not have any more attachment to the RF that it would to any other instrument, party, country or organisation.

What I think is that China needs a strong Russia, to balance the US, and a balanced Russia that does threat with Nukes as a system of living (e.g. North Korea). Russia is not helping at all in any of these.

China is relatively organised and is using the opportunity to look like a mediator and a country of peace.
964  Economy / Economics / Re: Should I Use Emergency funds or Sell my Assets ? on: July 17, 2023, 01:47:43 PM
Correct, once the situation got resolve you start again to save your money, for sure you learn a lesson from your experienced.
However, we need to be able to save money, learning from experience is important, and in times of economic uncertainty, the emergency fund has been set up again.

We don't know when the emergency will come up, but with the experienced we will start to
anticipate and we will allocate a certain amount to save.
It always comes unexpectedly, so anticipating is very important, don't spend too much money the way you save and a little aside for investment then it's the best solution when there is pressure again.

It will help to avoid using your investment or your asset as you have dedicated savings
for any emergency it will cover the needs.
As much as possible it should be able to be separated between investment and emergency funds.
Emergency fund is the first layer and Investment is the second layer to use, but if it can still be overcome by the first layer then the assets in the investment will remain safe for the long term.

The key question is how expensive the lesson is going to be. Making mistakes is usual, part of life and will provide an example of how not to do things. However you need to calibrate the cost of making that mistake and learn the lesson and know what you don't know and how bad can it get in case you miss.

Regarding inflation, the topic, getting it wrong is usually a very costly mistake that may end up with you having no home.
965  Economy / Economics / Re: Should I Use Emergency funds or Sell my Assets ? on: July 17, 2023, 01:00:55 AM
Are you holding fiat? Do you not know that if you are holding fiat, it is like your government are scamming you, although it is not a scam, but it is a means to lose money as your fiat money lose value and unable to buy what you can use it to buy before.
Yeah, what is that saying?  Inflation is theft, taxation is robbery?  Can't remember if it's vice versa or not, but to your point I absolutely agree that holding cash for a significant length of time (and the "significant" part depends on the inflation rate) you're just letting inflation pick your pocket.

OP, I don't know what country you're in or what the inflation rate is or what assets you hold or, most importantly, what your specific financial situation looks like, but if you need emergency cash in order to live and you're not making enough money to pay your bills, that's what your emergency fund is for.  That's my opinion and others might disagree, but selling assets can be a taxable event in addition to you losing whatever potential profit you could make from holding them.  I assume your emergency fund isn't earning enough interest to beat inflation, so that would be my first choice to tap into.

And inflation is hitting us all pretty hard, no matter what country you're in.  Unfortunately, it seems like a lot of governments have adopted the same idiotic monetary policies and are digging the world economy into the same hole.  Best of luck to you, OP.

Inflation is robbery? Not exactly, inflation is effectively a transfer of value between people who own money to people who owe money. The other day I spoke with a guy from Poland that told me that in the times of hyperinflation, some people bought houses with a mortgage that after a few years could repay with "pocket money".

The key to let inflation play for you is to borrow in low interest times and fix the rate for a long time.

...

Science hides a lot of what they find. For example, they have found through the Voyager satellites that they almost don't have a clue as to what the universe is made of. But those who publish what the scientists say about Voyager discoveries, publish those ideas as though they were fact, even though the scientists clearly express them only as ideas.

Consider the Microsphere Nanoscope... a microscope that can see living things in color that were only formerly visible, dead, in an electron microscope. Yet few people talk about the MN, because what it sees is changing the whole understanding of how life works. And no scientist wants his pet ideas to be trampled on, even by the truth.

Part of the reason science is not finding the truth is, they fail to scientifically appropriately explore the foundations of the Bible, God, and the reason for Jesus... Jesus, Who was made to be equal with God, by God Himself.
...

This perfectly proves how people read things they do not have a clue about, they think they got it and get inevitably to the wrong conclusions. Science follows a method that provides some certainties under a certain context of the human understanding, nothing more.

Religion is based on pure dogma. Nothing is proven ever, it is simply said and people are just expected to believe it. As you can see, the "truth" bar is set to a zero level for religion, yet we still the same people who do not question that which is without proof, questioning science which actually does require proof for the conclusions.

I mostly try to keep my financial situation as private as possible and only share it with my parents, who are very discreet in those matters.
In my family we a re accustomed to help each other with money, we do not offer loans but rather give away when someone is in need, so there would be no future problems because there is no actual debt generated in the first place.

There has been many instances my mother has gave money to their sisters and even the children of them, without expecting any payment back. It is better that way I think, it keeps family closer to one another.

In my case, I would not hesitate to support my near family financially - I can trust them as they are "simple people" with "simple lives" which means they do not get into trouble and stick to a very boring, predictable and stable style of life. Perhaps that is the reason why they never had to ask me for any short of financial help. Speaking of me... I do not recall ever borrowing more than the equivalent of 20 usd, and that because I forgot my wallet or the like.
968  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: July 17, 2023, 12:36:31 AM
Out of your whole post, only true part is Finland and Sweden joining NATO
Ok, let's say it's all lies what he posted. But where is your real facts? You want to say Iranian drones is very effective and almost all of them reach targets, Patriot system isn't effective at all and Russia didn't lost huge number of their troops in this war?

If you like showing scary stuff you may want to have a look at a full artillery column being HIMARsed. but I am not particularly a fan of these, I rather look at the wider picture and that picture speaks of Russia not advancing, Ukraine making some interesting positional gains and a clear factor of attrition in RF logistics.
I'm not sure you did it intentionally or no, but this video was uploaded more than year. Anyway, HIMARS is still doing their job very effectively despite that Russia destroyed all of them long time ago. In recent days there was at least several videos about successful attacks against Russian Air Defense systems.

Thanks for point that out, there are a few more recent yes, showing coordination between drones and HIMARS that show awesome coordination and combined arms in practice (to a point, since there are few planes and choppers).

It seems that Ukraine has adapted the tactics and are trying to find the right "grinding" process. Speaking of massive advances at this point would not be realistic, but what is happening in the background is as important in terms of getting to artillery attrition in a location and then going over demining, trench clearing and digging in. Looks slow, but also looks like the process is being refined.

969  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you expect to go to Heaven, when finished here on Earth? on: July 15, 2023, 11:54:29 PM
I have no expectations about afterlife, mainly because I have no evidence of any short of afterlife whereas I have plenty of evidence of people not being able to "communicate" after death. Also, most of the organised religions and faith books do not really make any sense beyond requesting fait.

Having said that, there are many things that we do not know about life and nothing we really know about anything after, so I guess anything is possible technically.

You forgot also to mention that most probably that 200.000 soldiers dead now is much more with these reservists that just had 3 weeks of training barely and they were sent straight to Ukraine in the front line as cannon fodder.Of course you will have much difficulty in swallowing this information as your brainwashing sources will tell you that a mere 20.000 soldiers have been killed and that no reservist is risking their life in the front line in Ukraine, personally I have no problem what you want to absorb from my posts as long as you agrees to even a certain amount of the truth it means you are not completely brainwashed yet by Russian propaganda.

Yes, I'm brainwashed by Sky News  Grin Grin Grin

https://news.sky.com/story/ukraine-war-irish-fighter-rambo-describes-terrifying-russia-tank-chase-all-of-us-were-screaming-12919142

You are not brainwashed by any external source. I think it may be related to your own hormones, probably the Stalinistina and the Ruzzzisina that you seem to naturally produce.

971  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What is happening in France? on: July 15, 2023, 11:35:52 PM
All political systems have winners and loosers I am afraid. It is quite traditional in Frances to protest, strike and make abundantly clear to governments that layers and groups of the society are not happy with their situation. France is a democracy, the government is elected by a majority, thus the protesters are really protesting against what was voted by a majority, so... too bad.

Anyway, France has a serious racism problem among others. There is no middle ground = you are French or you are something else, even if you have been born and educated in France you will be treated very differently opportunities or jobs wise depending on your origin.
972  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: July 14, 2023, 11:45:54 PM
The US and Nato lost, even if things drag on for a while.

It depends...
Russia lost more than half of its military. It can retrain soldiers, but most of its modern armament has been lost. Analysts say they've lost its offensive capability for 10-15 years.
They did not reach their goals like taking Kiev, assassinating Zelenskyy and planting their puppet government.
They lost trade deals with Europe and some military deals with countries who saw Russian jets and helicopters being decimated by modern missiles.
The counteroffensive isn't going well, but let's not forget that Russians were surrounding Kiev and now they're hiding in the trenches hundreds of miles to the East.

IMO there's no clear winner or loser here. The war is ongoing and it's not going to stop just like that. This conflict is going to continue for years, pretty much the way it is in Gaza.
Russians effectively pushed Ukraine into the arms of the EU and NATO. If that's a win, I wouldn't want to be the winner.

The trolls in Youtube, forums and Twitter are calling game over and have been doing so for quite a while...yet everyday there are clashes, minor advances - sometimes no that minor compared to the RF offensives last year.

This is obviously targeted to the US and EU population since the RF believes that people are actually as ignorant and stupid as they are and the support from NATO countries will fade if they cry  loud enough about non-existent claims of "offensive having failed". It is very easy to spot since they were first questioning the offensive and then stated calling it a failure from day 0.

The fact is that Ukraine has barely used 10% of the assault forces, US and Europe are supplying materials to replace the losses and it is clear on the battlefield that the technical superiority of the US artillery systems is demolishing the RF arty positions. Not to mention the recent declarations of a well-known RF general point out the serious issues that the RF army has to hold the lines with a very limited supply - and getting demoted immediately. This is to be taken with a pinch of salt, but still credible.

https://edition.cnn.com/2023/07/12/europe/russian-general-treachery-accusations-ukraine-intl-hnk/index.html

Quote
A senior Russian general in command of forces in occupied southern Ukraine says he was suddenly dismissed from his post after accusing Moscow’s Defense Ministry leadership of betraying his troops by not providing sufficient support.

Gen. Ivan Popov was the commander of the 58th Combined Arms Army, which has been engaged in heavy fighting in the Zaporizhzhia region. He is one of the most senior officers to have taken part in the bloody Russian campaign in Ukraine.

Popov said he had raised questions about “the lack of counter-battery combat, the absence of artillery reconnaissance stations and the mass deaths and injuries of our brothers from enemy artillery,” in a voice note published on Telegram late Wednesday.

That is not a coincidence - Ukraine has been targeting supply lines and depots well behind the enemy lines since they got the stormshadow.

The fact is that nobody would be surprised if Ukraine liberated Bakhmut - just 10 times faster than the RF took to invade it.

As I have said many a few times, fronts do not collapse on frontal blind assaults, but after a period of attrition, diminishing supplies and general low morale, it can happen at pretty much any time. Oh, and as a clue, some sources are saying that Ukraine has more active tanks than the RF as of now.

973  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How do you handle borrowers? on: July 14, 2023, 08:08:41 AM
How do you deal with the situation where people who you are close to like family and friends are constantly demanding for one kind of financial assistance or the other. It is not possible to help everyone, so how do you handle it and make sure that giving and trying to help people do not turn into a problem for you. How about people who borrow money from you and never return it or even show any effort to make payment back to you, how did you go about the situation?

I guess you don't give money and the problem shorts out itself eventually? The question is asking yourself why are you lending or giving that money away? Is is a religious matter? Is it your family? Friends? Perhaps you need to consider restricting the amount progressively so they understand that it will eventually dry-out so they start looking for alternativess.
974  Economy / Gambling / Re: How does AI gambling sound? on: July 13, 2023, 10:31:44 PM
-snip-
We may not yet know what it will look like because it is still in the development and integration stage, so we are still wondering. But casinos will integrate it into their business, especially if their users also use AI to beat the casinos. The emergence of new casinos that claim they are AI casinos still looks the same as the other older casinos, and I suspect they interpret this by calling their casinos AI casinos. Perhaps, it is more likely Web 3.0 casinos, as you say. So let's just wait for AI's presence in the gambling field so we will know what it will look like in the future.

If casinos are expected to be as fair as possible from the user's point of view, then AI should not be applied more deeply to gaming machines because AI in casinos is after all meant to "learn to beat".
AI should only be applied to analyze overall user activity to detect cheating, abuse, suggest games, auto-run promotions, etc.

Why is AI not fair? do you think it is unethical to use it for gambling but what would you say about it is already been used in other domains like marketing and targeting ads or in strategy or war? Perhaps is more a question of how is it being used and what purpose it servers the true question - e.g. it could enhance the user experience or make good suggestions to a player.

The OP describes a situation but the problem is just the problem not a solution. I would be interested in anyone that sees a path from point A - countries ruled by an elite that is not interested in development, particularly in social development, to point B, a country that is mostly ruled by the people of the country and is seeking in general a way to progress.
976  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Unprecedented political raid on Trump/Redacted affidavit/etc. on: July 13, 2023, 12:59:06 AM

Doesn't matter if they were classified.  Here's the law he's being charged with for the 31 documents he refused to return, attempted to hide, and lied to the government about.

(e)Whoever having unauthorized possession of, access to, or control over any document, writing, code book, signal book, sketch, photograph, photographic negative, blueprint, plan, map, model, instrument, appliance, or note relating to the national defense, or information relating to the national defense which information the possessor has reason to believe could be used to the injury of the United States or to the advantage of any foreign nation, willfully communicates, delivers, transmits or causes to be communicated, delivered, or transmitted, or attempts to communicate, deliver, transmit or cause to be communicated, delivered, or transmitted the same to any person not entitled to receive it, or willfully retains the same and fails to deliver it to the officer or employee of the United States entitled to receive it;

In other words, if you have have government documents about nuclear capabilities of the US and foreign countries, and the government asks you to give them back, then tells you to give them back, then subpoenas you to give them back, you can either give them back or be indicted on federal charges.

Serious question: did you agree with Trump when he said these things:

It is quite ridiculous all the argument about the hearsay when speaking of secret documents, but look, I am not saying Trump is guilty, I am saying that he is being indicted for acts that are actually quite serious and certainly illegal. That is not hearsay, that is the nature of the charges.

Now, if these can be proven or not is a different matter, but this is not about which hunting, is about not being fit for holding an office - in other words, you can do whatever politics you want, but not convert facts in a partisan issue.
977  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Cocaine in the White House. on: July 13, 2023, 12:52:36 AM
My personal guess is that cocaine belonged to some visitor and dropped out their pockets in the wrong place.

I doubt this is actually some cocaine which belonged to Hunter Biden, though I must admit it is rather unfortunate to Biden's family, because whether one is the son of the president or just a regular citizen, the stigma of being a drug addict who has dealt with such substances in the past seems never to go away.

Curiously, Fox News lately has been testing very closely with the line between information and slander, by implying the drugs are Hunter's but also being careful enough not to commit the same mistake which cost them a lot of money in the defamation lawsuit they had to face with Dominion.

They have to feed the pigs. Last time Fox attempted to go to anything near facts and truths they lost more than 10% of their audience in days. They have now learnt the lesson - people in their audience are not about hearing facts and they choose leaders that have a distant relationship with these. To be honest, that is nothing original from the US, it is just that it is more influential in how other countries play the game.
978  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: July 13, 2023, 12:48:51 AM
As for charitable assistance, Russia has repeatedly stated that it is ready to deliver targeted supplies of wheat and fertilizers to the most needy African countries in the required volume free of charge. No grain deal is needed for this, Russia again had a record grain harvest last year.

Except "russia" is not doing that. Why?
For example, in order not to sabotage the grain deal. Do you have any idea what it's all about? How could Ukraine sell its grain under this deal if Russia would supply it for free?

Let's go again, Russia is ready to supply free wheat to countries in need if the grain deal is not extended. In other words, the starving countries of Africa will receive for free from Russia all the volume of wheat that fell from the closing of the grain deal. How many tankers Ukraine sent to Africa as part of the grain deal, Russia will send as many tankers free of charge after the cancellation of the deal. Is it clear now?

Your words are clear. But these are words, not facts - nothing surprising. The RF is going to make many friends blocking the deal if that happens, any grain that goes to countries with regimes that care more about the cash than about their people will end up redirected to the highest bidder. It is one of the cancers eating Africa.

Well, it seems that trolls are insisting on how bad things are for Ukraine and Zelenski and calling this over. The latest package from US says otherwise.

979  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: July 11, 2023, 11:09:53 PM

So now hunger in Africa is created by "your ways", Africans have nothing to do with it? The fact that many countries in Africa wage war after war and those who do not are under kleptocratic rules is all due to "your ways".

Look, it is time that African countries take responsibility for their own destiny and their situations. If you cannot feed a family of three, why do you keep going until they are seven and then have to live on subsidies from "the evil capitalists". Why people cannot look beyond the "tribes" and try to build countries where they can progress instead of killing each other?

But anyway, if Russia blocks the grain deal and no matter who you choose to blame (Russia cannot do wrong for you, I know, it is all somebody else's fault) the end result will be a famine, mostly in Africa, but not only in Africa. Again, a great diplomatic win.

Through neocolonialism, former colonial powers created situation where they continue to occupy Africa through economic means (read John Perkins
book "Economic hitman")...IMF, USAID, weaponized dollar are all neocolonial instruments.
Few countries managed to claw away from such situation, just for their leaders get killed by west, either directly or through
sponsored coups

Examples:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muammar_Gaddafi

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Sankara

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruben_Um_Nyob%C3%A8

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrice_Lumumba

Gaddafi? Seriously? Is that like your role model for pacifying and creating progress in Africa? Are you also somehow suggesting that Russia is not colonising where ever they can?

I guess you are too eager to prove your point and do not consider that Russia is a fantastic supporter of dubious characters -simply because they currently do not have any other ideology than raw money. You accuse "you", whoever that is, of colonising, when the former USSR has been keeping half of Europe captive and Putin is now trying the same.

I fail to see any moral superiority whatsoever here.

Certainly responsible gamblers understand the importance of managing risk. They set limits on their wagers, allocate a specific gambling budget, and avoid chasing losses - throwing good money after bad money in business and gambling alike. Additionally, understanding the odds and probabilities associated with different games can help gamblers make more informed decisions.
