1081  Economy / Services / Re: [CFNP] BestChange Signature Campaign | Sr Member+ on: May 14, 2023, 08:56:55 PM
I just noticed that the payment for week 173 has been sent since May 10th, but unfortunately it hasn't been confirmed even though it was broadcast 4 days ago.

Mempool.space seems to recommend a 19 sat/vB fee for low priority [it has been lower than in previous days], but that transaction has a 12 sat/vB fee. Just wondering, apart from being patient waiting for the fee to down lower, can accelerator also help in this case?

Example: FREE/PAY BITCOIN TRANSACTION ACCELERATOR
It's because the transaction fee is at around 11.8 sats/vbyte. I think we should practice patience as a virtue, especially with brands like BestChange. They have been with us here through thick and thin. The mempool is slowly but surely normalizing. Today I had some of my 15 sats/vB transactions get confirmed, this was only a dream a couple of days back.

Transaction "accelerators" like the one you suggested don't actually work. They just rebroadcast the transactions into the network. Not including them, it in the next block

ViaBTC would work in this case, but the transaction is above the maximum transaction size (0.5KB) required for the free transaction accelerator.

1082  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Thomas! Check bugs on Electrum 4.4.2, please. on: May 13, 2023, 11:55:39 PM
Enable historic rates and the list will be reduced to 4 exchange rate providers
- Coingecko
- Coincap
- CoinDesk
- BitcoinVenezuela

I think the individual private key exportation feature was removed to encourage better wallet security practices. It's not a bug.
1083  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Wallet for Android / Re: Bitefinance.net android app advertised as Bitcoin Wallet is stealing Crypto on: May 13, 2023, 11:38:39 PM
There is literally a section on Bitcoin.org that is dedicated to helping you find a suitable and trustworthy Bitcoin wallet (https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet) but all you did was just rush to Google Play and download a random wallet without even looking at the negative review which are very many by the way.

You only have yourself to blame, and I hope you learn a lesson out of this unfortunate incident. "Do not just trust, verify!"
1084  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What happens if an algorithm used by Bitcoin becomes obsolete? on: May 13, 2023, 11:19:01 PM
I'm not necessarily talking about including this "new replacement code" in the Bitcoin code, but at least having the code on hand, ready to replace the current code. What do you think?
If you have a code in hand to replace the current code, then what's the point of trusting the current code in the first place?  Wink

I believe we would have a hard fork if a flaw was discovered and didn't course complete damage to the Bitcoin network. The world of technology keeps changing over the years.

1085  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: congested mempool & LN on: May 13, 2023, 10:53:32 PM
Well good thing is the fees are pretty low compared to what we has seen for the past few days so I hope this is the end of congestion.
I guess this is where we say there is always calm after a storm.

Maybe Ordinals and BRC20 showing up before the next bull run might be a blessing in disguise (The hype for the shitcoins will have died down that no sane person would want to even here about them)
1086  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Is anyone else glad Bitcoin is calming down? on: May 12, 2023, 11:27:22 PM
couldn't a mining pool just create  a block with only say 10 transactions which represented the highest fees of all the transactions in the mempool?
How do you suppose this could be done?

Having a block maxed out with a lot more transactions is an incentive to the miners, as they will earn some more Bitcoins from the transaction fees on top of block rewards.

Quote
thus having an effect of slowing down the network.
How?
It's not like one pool will be mining all the blocks. On top of that, difficulty adjustment can also help after very 2016 mined blocks

if they really wanted to mess bitcoin up just mine empty blocks then no one could get a transaction through... Shocked
With the current network hashrate? I believe empty blocks are rather something of luck and randomness?

Cause the fee system is flawed and they are attacking the flaws.

2 big pools that do not pay fees to miners is all you need to this attack.
And how long before those Big pools become small because different miners decided to move elsewhere, where they get paid?  Grin
1087  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: 10 usd in usdt erc20 on: May 11, 2023, 11:23:31 PM
You need?

This is a currency exchange board. In exchange for what? Don't even think you will receive free money here if that is your intention.
1088  Other / Archival / Re: Sinbad.io Mixer - secure, fast and easy to use on: May 10, 2023, 11:36:39 PM
Hiperlink stopped working after about 36 hours after the beginning of the mix, it returns 404 now. But just after the transaction was sent the page showed me my transaction though with 0 confirmations. After the tx was confirmed I wasn't able to check the status.
I've added the link and the guarantee letter in the letter that I sent to your email (from the site): support@sinbad.io. Why can't you just check the inbox? All the relevant information is there.
I've already contacted your support by telegram either and still nothing.
It seems that you're not really interested in solving this issue? My funds're gone
Hey, did your issue get resolved?

I noticed that the clearnet website is returning me a connection timeout error. Apparently the error is from the host (sinbad.io) but Cloudflare and the browser are just fine.

The Tor mirror is still OK though.
1089  Other / Meta / Re: offordscott - ban appeal on: May 10, 2023, 06:51:37 PM
Was this guy ever helped, or his case looked into by the mods?

I am not sure if he was ever unbanned, since he hasn't posted from that day. But I do a change of password on 18th April 2023?
1090  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: BRC-20 needs to be removed on: May 09, 2023, 10:59:53 PM
And the good thing is it may attract new investors to buy more miners. Meaning if more miner participants are joining they can find and solve more blocks that will help to speed up confirmation process.
Speeding up block confirmations?

No way. That would only be possible if there was no difficulty adjustment in place. More miners into the network would mean that the hast rate goes up to the roof and after every 2016 blocks, the network difficulty gets automatically adjusted to keep the average transaction time well within the approximate 10-minute interval.

Other Non-KYC exchanges for coin-to-coin conversions (lightning support marked):
https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/cd1fr8/list_of_nokyc_instant_exchanges/

The list seems to be outdated as it's about 4 years old

Some exchanges are no longer the same as they used to be, while others are now non-operational

For example, the following are all offline/non-operational at the moment
Code:
1. https://instaex.io
2. https://www.liquality.io
3. https://liquiditi.io
4. https://golightning.club/
5. https://ion.radar.tech/redshift#swap-assets
6. https://bitflash.club/
7. https://mercuriex.com/
1092  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: BRC-20 needs to be removed on: May 09, 2023, 10:35:24 PM
There is a discussion among devs here ------> [bitcoin-dev] [Mempool spam] Should we as developers reject non-standard Taproot transactions from full nodes?

I still haven't got enough time to read everything

But I think they should be removed.

What I think is that there is no going back.
Why not?

Quote
Taproot has already been created that Ordinals used to create what is happening now. It is better for bitcoin developers to look for more ways to reduce transaction fee.
How?

Increase block size? Go check out what's happening to BCH right now. Sometimes they get only about 40 transactions per block

Quote
Miners are happy very well this time because they are making more money from transaction fee and they are not going to agree on anything that will not make them gain.
So what happens when so many people abandon the network because of unbearable fees? What will the miner earn then?

Quote
Know that this has already been created, no way back that will not divide the community, but there are ways forward.
The BRC20 shit tokens are doing way far more damage to the Bitcoin network adaption than you think. Better to get rid of them early enough.
1093  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Kucoin Community Chain KCC on: May 09, 2023, 08:47:15 PM
Thanks for the info, I had never heard of Mempool until the previous post but have now seen it mentioned many times in videos as Bitcoin network fees have skyrocketed!

I definitely pre-empted something asking if it would be cheaper to send funds back to exchange than it is to withdraw them  Undecided

I STILL haven't moved my Bitcoin off exchange, was hoping to for the price to drop ($25k ish) so I could buy more and move it all together so the fee wouldn't burn as large a %

That's if I can afford to move it back in a bull run with ordinals clogging up the network  Grin
The skyrocketing Bitcoin transaction fees have definitely affected most of us who use the network. I used to make so a good number of transactions involving micro amounts but can't do it anymore since it does not seem sustainable.

All I can now do is wait and see if the fee rates can normalize after some time. The advantage I have is that most of my Bitcoins are in my noncustodial wallets and just a little in an exchange for day trading.
1094  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Coin Stats Alerts on: May 09, 2023, 08:34:45 PM
Maybe your mobile device has a problem.

Are you receiving the alerts as mobile notifications or as email notifications? If it's the former, then it's very likely there is a battery or power saving setting that shuts down your apps from running in the background, and therefore you won't be able to get notifications in real time.
1095  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Dont receive password reset email from freebitco on: May 09, 2023, 08:22:20 PM
Okay. I think what you need to do is either you post this message on it's official ANN freebitco or send a personal message to it's forum representative Freebitco, as he will likely help facilitate you getting access to your account once again, only if you could prove that the account you gave above is actually yours.

freebitco.in PR is more like an account used to make announcements and promotions.

I think OP should try contacting TheQuin via PM if the information he is to share is sensitive. He's very helpful he and he will get him sorted as soon as possible.
1096  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Off-chain mixers on: May 09, 2023, 07:51:16 PM
However I wonder  Huh  why service like ChipMix was so popular since the chip appeared to be just a private keys.
There we so many factors why it was so popular
1. It was one of the kind
2. The fee (It was the lowest, If I recall well, they weren't charging any mandatory service fee)
3. Obviously exposure, they were one of the biggest advertisers here in the forum

We all know what happened when the mixer was seized. Some people lost money because, for some reason, Chipmixer did not delete the data logs as promised.
1097  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: foundry is playing a power game screwing with bitcoin on: May 08, 2023, 11:11:40 PM
https://mempool.space/mining shows block 788837 is F2Pool, not Foundry as your post suggests. Am I missing something?
1. BTC.com says Foundry USA - https://explorer.btc.com/btc/block/788837
2. Blockchain.com says Foundry USA - https://www.blockchain.com/explorer/blocks/btc/788837
3. Blockchair.com say Foundry USA - https://blockchair.com/bitcoin/block/788837

Not sure what's going on with mempool.space
1098  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bittrex to shut its U.S operations on: May 08, 2023, 10:40:01 PM
I'm wondering what does this mean for the users and their funds?
So the once famous Bittrex got Bittrekt?

I guess the customers or users will have to wait for several months or years before they can get their back funds if things work out according to plan.

This is a little light on the bankruptcy filings they made;

1.  Chapter 9

The purpose of chapter 9 is to provide a financially-distressed municipality protection from its creditors while it develops and negotiates a plan for adjusting its debts. Reorganization of the debts of a municipality is typically accomplished either by extending debt maturities, reducing the amount of principal or interest, or refinancing the debt by obtaining a new loan

2. Chapter 11

Chapter 11 is named after a section of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code. Companies that file Chapter 11 do so in order to obtain time to restructure their debts and make a fresh start. The terms are subject to the debtor fulfilling its obligations under the plan of reorganization.
1

During a Chapter 11 proceeding, the court will help a business restructure its debts and obligations

3. Chapter 15

Chapter 15 is a section in the U.S. Bankruptcy Code that was added in 2005 to provide for cooperation between U.S. courts and foreign courts when foreign bankruptcy proceedings touch upon U.S. financial interests.

The section was added in response to a United Nations recommendation for cooperation among nations on what it calls "cross-border insolvency."
1099  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How Bitcoin Ordinal will waste block space? on: May 08, 2023, 09:53:13 PM
With time, with demands, with developments and upgrades, Bitcoin must serve more people, more use cases.
The only demands I would love to see are its use as a peer to peer electronic cash system and maybe store of value. Anything more than that like some stupid scam NFTs or Memes kills the purpose completely.

Quote
Ordinal NFTs are one of use cases and like it or not, it is your personal choice but other people have their freedom to like it. Like people are freely to use Bitcoin for many use cases and as people who support freedom, we don't like censorship.
With current high fee rate, how do you convince someone down in El Salvador to pay for a cup of coffee worth $2 using Bitcoin with a transaction fee of $30  Roll Eyes

Let all agree that the ordinals or BRC20 have no use case, they are just scams.

Bitcoin was for the ordinary person, not a dozen of scammers willing to spam the network at a higher fee rate by creating shitcoins on it so that they can rip off newbies.

Ordinal NFTs can bring more new people to Bitcoin network like some of them can come from Ethereum network and I see it is a good thing.
Sure! Because paying $30 per transaction makes people abandon traditional financial instructions for a BRC20 laden Bitcoin. Great Vision!  Lips sealed

>>snip<<
You did it the wrong way. When you make a scam accusation here, not so many people are going to see it and perhaps send red tags to the perpetrators.

You are supposed to make a fresh topic in the scam accusations board, including all the details showing how you were scammed. Follow the scam report format in this topic
