5761  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion to reduce signature campaign spam posts on: November 12, 2019, 02:47:37 PM
I agree with members who, as one of the anti-spam measures point to "Report to moderator button", but one should not neglect also the available option called "self-moderated thread" which gives anyone who opens the thread the opportunity to be their own moderator.
Relates to self-moderation, I think users who have not yet thoroughly know about it should read the announcement of this feature from theymos, years ago: Self-moderated topics
In most sections, you now have the option of marking topics self-moderated when creating them. In self-moderated topics, the OP can delete replies. The option for enabling this is under "additional options". Topics cannot be converted to self-moderated topics after creation.

There are no rules to self-moderation. In self-moderated threads, replies belong to the OP. In other threads, replies belong to the respondents individually. Think carefully about whether you want to reply to a self-moderated topic, as your post may not be given due respect.

Tell me if there are any bugs. If this ends up not working out well, I might remove it.
Self-moderated topics? Can you say what boards this applies too? This is going to be bad if it is on certain boards, cause some people can edit threads to benefit them, I really hope it is just the off-topic board.

The excluded sections are Meta (except for this topic), Scam Accusations, Important Announcements, and Auctions. Tagged scammers can't use this feature. You don't have to participate in self-moderated topics if you're worried about manipulation by the OP.

I only got Vardy and Salah this time around, I don't know how I got so bad Cheesy I mean Salah was expected in a game like this and figuring that out is not really that weird, mane or Salah usually scores in every game so if you say mane you are half right anyway or if you say Salah same thing.
I am a fan of Roma club so it is very dissapointed to see Salah has grown to become one of the most valuable players on the market. In his time at Roma, Salah missed lots of great opportunities but he has improve his shooting skills very well. Within the last three seasons, after leaving Roma, Salah has never stopped making me surprised on his performance (mostly great scores).

Nowadays Salah has been on the top excellent players: L. Messi, K. Mbappe,  C. Ronaldo, E. Hazard, K. Debruyne, R. Sterling. The last four have some problems this season.

Survey: 13.5% of Americans Own or Plan to Buy Bitcoin, Equal to Entire Population of Argentina
From plans to real actions: buying bitcoin is too far. Sometimes people hesitate too much and go away from their plans. Anyway, the results give us the fact that bitcoin has become more popular, in the American in particular, and in global scale in general. Taking advantage of the popularity growth of bitcoin, the blockchain technology will do grow faster and we soon will see actual revolution from blockchain technology.

Demand on bitcoin increased as the result of the survey. It's good.

It took around 10 years for the Internet to change the world after its bubble and I think blockchain technology will revolutionize the world in shorter period (I predict it will occur next 4 to 5 years)

There is nothing new to fight against spammers. We already know how to do this as long as the forum releases new spam-fighting systems like bump score months ago.
In a nutshell, to effectively fight against spam, it requires strong cooperations among users (through their reports and their posts), admins/ moderators (how they handle reports from users), and managers of campaigns (how they manage their campaigns: choosing participants and kick out bad participants over time).
There are some good points you can find in my topics:
Since 2018, what did you contribute to preventing signature ads removed globally?
Cleaning up the house in Bitcoin/ Altcoin/ Gambling Discussion boards

Reporting bad posts is a good tool that officially provides by the forum. [Guide] Reporting effectively.
Beyond using the report button to report to moderators, you can report bad posts or topics to that one:

5765  Other / Meta / Re: Adding a ‘Use a brand new username’ sign on Bitcointalk sign-up page. on: November 11, 2019, 03:47:44 AM
Originally, whether people want to have privacy (from their usernames) or not, they should never use their real names for their forum account's usernames. Because they are almost unable to change their usernames in the forum. So if years after creating accounts with real names, they will struggle with their privacy if they want to change their usernames and have more privacy.

I am using my real name here, should it be a point of concern for me ?
I am unable to understand how the privacy is compromised if we used our real name as our username in the forum?  We use our real names everywhere like on trading platforms, Banks accounts etc so whats the issue here ?

It makes a little sense if you don't run your companies out there. If you run your companies, using your real name for your account in the forum or any other forums/ platforms will result in risks of damages on your reputation.

Someone can use your names to create fake accounts on different forums/ platforms and use those accounts to scam. Then if someone else want to find out basic things about you from Google search, they will fastly get so many negative search results.

Generally, I don't think using our real names for accounts on the Internet is smart thing to do. Maybe it does not a matter currently but in the long run it does cause bigger or serious matter.

It is why careful people use random usernames and random passwords with supports from good softwares.
5766  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Some Telegram tips for newcomers in the crypto community on: November 11, 2019, 02:31:13 AM
It is a little off-topic, but the OP reminds me that I made my guide on simple steps to investigate and discover scammers on Discord.

It is nearly the same as on Telegram, where users can easily change their username, but each user has a unique user ID.
Be careful on Discord, because on Discord, there are two types of user ID. To get unique user IDs, people have to choose on for the Developer Mode.
Scammers can not self-change their unique user ID (unique, so it means unchangeable).
Discord & scammers. Check user IDs and user colors of strangers send you PMs

Telegram:

In my opinion, one of the best preventive ways to avoid scammers' contacts is manually change your settings:
in the Privacy and Security
Phone number:
Who can see my phone number: choose Nobody
Who can find me by my number: choose Nobody

Groups: Group invite settings: who can add me to groups and channel: Choose My contacts

I called those settings as preventive ways because of they will early prevent us from scammers'  invitation and contacts.

If signing a message like this.
Code:
----- BEGIN BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE -----
It's 9th of November 2019 and this is rhomelmabini from bitcointalk and I own this segwit address.
BitcoinAddress: bc1qsz5kheyuec6r008s5r6sj8z5slqsammq6rnft2

----- END BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE -----
The signed message will be very different, not that one.

HwuMjn9qGBLnbZhmFz1Vre23cupS5nc+nMvQWSVUyYMUXFJmUm9Fx4N6/SyAAHWwFntFhUzj5yY60Rz21ge/V3U=
I am not the owner of that address so I can not sign it but if he wants to test, he will do get a different signed message.

When signing a message, a line break, a comma, any minor difference will cause different signed message.

Fortune Jack is one of the oldest (since 2014), highly trusted casinos that actively run their ANN topic in the forum. It has run its signature campaign for years, and there are very legit good comments about Fortune Jack. I don't see reasons that can convince me why Fortune Jack is a scam one.

One of your screenshot (from your email) discloses reasons: multi accounts.
Do you read ToS or FAQ of Fortune Jack?
2.5. You are allowed to register only one Account. Registering and operating multiple Accounts (more than one) is strictly prohibited. The Company reserves the right to qualify the account(s) registered on anyone from Your family, household, relative, friend or otherwise connected person to be Your another Account and, thus, decide that You have multiple Accounts. In case of multiple Accounting, We reserve the right to immediately block and terminate all such Accounts and confiscate all monetary funds available on such Accounts.
Multi accounts or not, this part of ToS is important for you too because the Fortune Jack already asked you for KYC.
7.7. You are obliged to submit to the Company all KYC and CDD documents requested by the Company during 14 (fourteen) calendar days after the request is made by the Company. If You do not meet the set deadline the Company shall have the right to block and terminate Your Account and confiscate all funds available on Your Account.

I congratulate for the launch of TomoX's main net but I am worried about what will happen with TomoX's KYC in the future. What happened with the Crypto Bridge when they are a dex and asked for KYCs from their customers makes me highly surprising.

I hope that TOMOchain team have solid and transparent plans for their dex and KYC

Hi Bounty Manager: when will new slots be available?
If there are open slots, they will be announced on Thursday, the payday of the campaign. You should follow the topic on that day and see any potential announcement for open slots. In the meantime, please don't clog up the thread.
5773  Other / Meta / Re: Signature Campaigns causing lifeless posts in Gambling section on: November 08, 2019, 09:35:35 AM
Think of it like this way: a guided experience through gambling is almost certainly better than someone stumbling into their first gambling experience without any precautionary measures. /derail
In my opinion it's been steadily more difficult to start constructive topics in the Gambling and Bitcoin Discussion boards. Over the past year, I'd only thought up a noteworthy thread (that wasn't redundant) once, in regards to Bitcoin Discussion. In that sense, it's more of a survivor bias where you are finding solely spam posts because those that care about their posts seldom stoop to that level.
If the forum won't disable signatures in those discussion boards, I propose:

Stop counting posts made in any discussion board to users' postcounts and activities will stop spam-endemic. It is unrealistic to ask for more companies or managers of shit companies/ campaigns to control the post-quality of their participants. This is a very good solution, I think, because the forum and admin still want to give privileges to wear signatures (and get money) for good users.

Spammers will stop spam if their posts won't be counted. When they stop spamming (posts, topics), constructive posts/ topics will appear consequently.
5774  Other / Meta / Re: Is it legal to send messages to bitcointalk users? on: November 08, 2019, 09:22:46 AM
Doing this surely will put your account under reports from users who send your advertising PMs to. Some of them (not all) will report your PMs, that are considered as rule-breaking (rule quoted in the previous post).

After that, reports on your advertising PMs will be handled by moderators or admins. You will likely be banned temporarily but there is no fixed temp ban period.

The temporary ban period depends on your case, on some root causes that moderators or admins will consider before banning your account:
- How many PMs you already sent
- How many reports PM-receivers report to moderators
- How seriously fast you send those PMs. The higher the number of PMs you send within a shorter period, the higher the chance your account will get a longer temp ban period.

Read this ban appeal, 30-days ban.

That user - BitcoinFX - is one of the very first users of the forum. So I guess you know what will happen with your account if you PM-spam.
5775  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ToS, do you read it before using new platforms? on: November 06, 2019, 09:50:06 AM
I usually only read the "Terms of Service" when I want to know something specific. I never read the whole thing, because I know it is a waste of time.
The fastest and easiest way to get very important things on any platform is to read its FAQs. FAQs contain most common questions and of course most important things for customers.
After reading FAQs, if there is something unclear or need more details, let's jump into the ToS and find the section of things you are interested in and want to find out more.

As I see, Wolf.bet signature campaign has paused. I think the campaign was very successful.
I saw the growth of Wolf.bet recent months that partially supported by its two waves of signature campaign.
Quote
I am sure there isn't any problem regarding the money they should pay to participants. Because they are spending huge money on contests. They paused the campaign just because they think that's not needed now.
From what I saw with the past two campaigns of the Wolf.bet and the announcement on the pause of the latest campaign, I think the Wolf.bet team has plans to upgrade their platform and they will come back with a new signature campaign when upgrade finished in the next several weeks. In reality, their upgrade might take more time (weeks) than they initially planned.
5778  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: November 05, 2019, 06:36:12 AM
It is clear that to comply with the legislators' guidelines, as licensed exchanges, they had to comply with legal requirements or guidelines from legislators in the countries where they are registered and operate, in this case, Korea and Japan. It's hard to believe that this happened in Japan and Korea because I thought these countries were very cryptocurrencies friendly, especially Japan.

This is good that has only impacted XMR on a relatively small "regional" scale and still, interested traders from affected countries can buy Monero on other more decentralized and P2P exchanges  Wink.
You made a point that cryptocurrencies will survive and develop further over time. Of course, privacy coins like Monero will act in the same direction but there are different levels of developments and acceptance from authorities and locals. Basically, authorities always want to control as many things as possible so it is very normal and understandable to see them trying to control privacy coins.

Fortunately, I have a belief that people always want to be private as long as they don't have to self-set-up so many technical steps just to get privacy. That is not what they have to do with Monero. For things related to authority regulations, locally and globally, who knows but like I say I believe Monero is strong enough to survive over any type and level of regulations.
5779  Other / Meta / Re: fillippone Merit Source Application on: November 04, 2019, 02:19:56 PM
fillippone is a very real asset of the forum and of his local board, Italian, I guess so despite the fact that I don't know Italian. I watched some useful topics on bitcoin forecast, especially before the massive explosion of bitcoin in June this year. It means fillippone spent decent time to collect those analyses as well as clearly and neutrally presented his opinion.

I also see his in the list of very top merit receivers and senders.

From all above reasons, I support the application.

I still think my support does not make lots of sense because admin has his very complicated rules to accept or reject merit source applications and there is other reasons that affect his decision too. The need of merit sources at each period affects MS applications, definitely.

Oh, hey Cryptohunter is back! This must mean altcoin season is not far off.
Really?  Huh
I have never had any experience with altcoin season and the activity of Cryptohunter in the forum. Can you clarify a little bit about that correlation between altcoin season and Cryptohunter, please.
Quote
And I believe Obyte is in a position to rally among the first coins in the new season. I would forget about Bittrex, the listing there doesn't help spread awareness. The better exchange would be Binance if someone would just introduce Obyte to the exchange owners.
First or not, I don't care. What I care about is how many percentage Obyte will rally when it does it, that's all I need for my investment with Obyte.
Binance is a great exchange for Obyte even their total daily liquidity has fallen recent months and I would prefer to see Obyte on Binance someday.
