5981  Other / Meta / Re: Yeah! I am out of sMerits as usual: Merit source application @theymos on: August 24, 2019, 03:04:26 PM
When was the last time Theymos tapped any new sources?  I recall last September as when he last made a bunch of new ones, myself included, and some of those hadn't even applied.
In May this year, when Vod removed as a merit source, 9 new merit sources added, that made total merit sources is 131
If I remember correctly, there were 123 Merit sources yesterday. One dropped out:
Theymos has responded to my request to be removed as a merit source.  No more working for free.  Smiley

I think theymos took the opportunity to process new Merit source applications, there are now 130 merit sources with a total merit generation of up to 20605 sMerit per 30 days.
One of them is Coolcryptovator.
There are 131 merit sources with a total merit generation of up to 21045 sMerit per 30 days
Around 400 more merits per 30 days for 8 new merit sources, so each new source likely have 50 merits per 30 days.
Previous stats before that wave of new merit sources in May

There are 123 merit sources with a total merit generation of up to 20735 sMerit per 30 days

Those posts do not satisfy the rule
- Applied posts must be made before 22th July 2019.

I think that poster should give usernames of two accounts scammed him/her. Then people can learn better from it, how scammers do their works with nearly same usernames of two accounts. I will send 1 merit if that post edited. Not sure he or she will do it. Anyway, thank you for pinpointing that post.

Is writing a thread included in your qualifications?

Yes, posts / threads, all accepted.
Threads usually require posters spend more time, and more efforts to read documents, articles, and so forth to compose threads. Nevertheless, it does not automatically mean threads are better than posts, in quality.
5988  Other / Meta / Re: [CLUBS] Top Merited-Users Classified into 4 Clubs on: August 24, 2019, 06:12:10 AM
1) you are suggesting that low earning of merits mean that active users "have issues" with the post quality of members merely because they are not meriting them at a certain rate per period
I meant just part of them. People who run their services also have good odds to get merits, too. Good posters, and good service providers.
It means part of more than 93% (active users) have issues with their post quality.
Quote
and 2) you are indicating that there is some kind of basis that the number of merits earned should be higher depending on the rank of the member per period of time.
It is just my example, JJG. People can take advantage of those proposed requirements to attack Legendary users, by hoarding their smerits for lower ranks, and ignore Legendary users. But, there are big cycle of merits between top merit receivers and merit senders, so good Legendary users don't have issues with that. Only low quality users will get troubles. In the same time, lower rank users will struggle themselves to move up to Legendary rank or lower ranks, from Senior Members to Hero Members. In case they to the aforementioned attack, they won't get anything back, because they can not move up to high ranks, themselves.
Quote
Therefore a legendary member, because of his/her rank, should be earning more merits per given period of time, merely because he is a legendary member... Seems like a bit arbitrary reasoning, expectations and requirements.
Those proposed figures are not best ones, just example, but I think it is logically to say Legendary users will know better about bitcoin, crypto, forum, to earn merits than newbies, members, or Full members.

Sure Theymos might make a new rank, some day.. especially as the number of merits continue to increase.
Theymos might do it, but there are other things should be considered, besides new rank (might be only one, above Legendary).
What to do with old-era, grandfather Legendary? There are Legendary users who make good contributions since January 2018, and earned hundreds or thousands of merits so far, but they are limited. In contrast, there are more significant Legendary users who have not earned not many merits, that discloses their post quality, over last one year and a half (since the day merit system began)
There are about 7% (111/1602) Legendary users whom earned more than 60 merits within last 6 months. It means part of more than 93% (active users) have issues with their post quality.
Code:
Legendary:	111 out of 1602 (>= 60 earned merits in last 6 months) --> 6,93%
Hero Member: 116 out of 1865 (>= 48 earned merits in last 6 months) --> 6,22%
Sr. Member: 82 out of 3321 (>= 42 earned merits in last 6 months) --> 2,47%
Full Member: 116 out of 6167 (>= 30 earned merits in last 6 months) --> 1,88%

Congratulations for the integration of USDT on BetHash.io platform, but I would prefer to know that which blockchains used for USDT on BetHash.io. Currently, there are three available blockchains for USDT, Bitcoin-second-layered Omni, TRON, and Ethereum. Will BetHash.io support USDT on all three chains, or just some of them?

This thread will help you with another tool to fight against phising sites by using host-files
Host-file to deal with phising sites
However, it is also helpful for known phising sites, for new phising sites, it is your responsibility to protect yourself through careful behaviours and whenever you find them, you should immediately report them.
5993  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Use cryptocurrency wallet now in Browser w/out any Extensions! on: August 24, 2019, 04:41:27 AM
Basically, it is more secure to stay away from web wallets, that give temporary convenience but in the long run, you will accept and get lots of risks yourself by using those sort of wallets.
Using wallet apps from renowned providers is better, but it is better if sticking with wallets for computers, not mobile devices.
by the way, weren't they asking for KYC when you used cryptocurrencies in their network?
It is just matter of time, because Brave browser already ask for KYCs, to claim brave rewards. That step is kind of broken promise on their slogan. That is a shameless step of Brave browser.

Sometimes, it looks like dust on computer screen, and most of us don't realize it. It is very risky, especially for careless guys. I remember there is user whom wear animated avatar of an ant, and at first time I saw that avatar, I thought there is an ant on my computer screen. That's weird but funny when I discovered that is an avatar.

I am not sure about real intention of that site owners, but just be careful. If that site is a phising site, it is good to not create account on their platform with same email and same password of your account on Sportsbet.io.

Sorry, one shot is not enough  Tongue. I think you need at least two shots. Just kidding, but it is not qualifying enough, you should try harder and come back next one month, with better posts.
Looks good, but you made it around two weeks before cut-off time, so you will get 1 merit with next round of the contest. Sorry.
5998  Other / Beginners & Help / Host-file to deal with phishing sites on: August 23, 2019, 10:01:00 AM
Phishing sites are one of the worst things, the you never want to be trapped, because you will lose your identities and money too in case you use same emails and same passwords over different platforms, includes phishing sites.

Rules to fight against phishing sites:
- Never click on links in emails or any groups sent by strangers.
- Never create accounts on newborn, strange sites/ forums if you do not make your own research about those sites.
- For already known phishing sites, there are steps to add them into host-files to avoid probability that your browsers will open those sites, by you, your wife/husband, children, whoever.
BTW, I appreciated the post of o_e_l_e_o.
Another one to be added to your hosts files then.

On Windows, navigate to "C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\", and open the hosts file in a text editor.
On Mac, navigate to "/private/etc/", and open the host file in a text editor.
On Linux, open terminal and write "sudo nano /etc/hosts"

Add the following two lines to the bottom of the hosts file:
Code:
0.0.0.0 bitcointalk.to
0.0.0.0 fonstavka.com

Your browser will now be unable to open those two phishing sites.

So, what is new in this thread?
Steps to add phishing sites, and turn them off are above, what we need is list of phishing site.

So, if you know any phishing sites, please leave them here, I will add them to the list. I hope that we all will make a long list of phishing sites.

Disable punny coded phishing sites

Source: https://winaero.com/blog/enable-idn-punycode-firefox-address-bar/
What is punny code?
Punycode is a special encoding used to convert Unicode characters to ASCII, which is a smaller, more restricted character set than Unicode. Punycode is used to encode internationalized domain names (IDNs) as a defense against address spoofing. Firefox allows enabling IDN punycode instead of non-Latin letters and Unicode symbols. This can be very useful, as you can find out if the currently opened web page is a phishing site or just a non-official mirror of some web site which you would like to avoid.
Ex: A phishing site of Binance that use punny code

At first glance, the addresses look very similar. Some users may not pay attention to the small dots below the "n" letter, which are there because it is a unicode symbol 'n with a dot below it' (U+1E47). This way, phishing web sites may trick you and make you believe that you are visiting the official genuine site.

For advanced protection, you can enable IDN Punycode protection in Firefox. With the option enabled, the address becomes like this:

Obviously, it doesn't look like the right web address any more.

If you find this feature useful and would like to enable it, here is how.

To enable IDN Punycode in Firefox Address Bar, do the following.
Read more here

Punnycode attacks

1. Be cautious if the site presses you to do something quickly. This is a classic strategy by hackers to rush their potential victims so that they are less likely to notice anything suspicious. Often they will offer a ‘limited time only’ deal, and make it difficult to exit the page with ‘are you sure you want to exit’ pop ups: these are all tactics to make you stay on their site longer and give them your details.
2. If you are being offered a deal, go to the original company site and check if it’s available there as well, if not it’s mostly likely a scam doing it’s best to mimic the established brand and trick visitors into handing over their details.
3. If some of the letters in the address bar look weird, or the website design looks different, rewrite it or visit the original company URL in a new tab to compare. The letters in the address bar looking strange is a key indicator that punycode is being used to trick you into thinking you are visiting a well-established brand site when in fact you are being taken to a malicious site.
4. Use a password manager; this reduces the risk of pasting passwords into dodgy sites.
5. Force your browser to display Punycode names, this option is available in Firefox.
6. Click on the padlock to view and inspect the HTTPS certificate.

Dogecoin
Well, I think that will be a great idea.
Dogecoin will reduce tx fee when we make any deposit or make a withdrawal, isn't it?
Furthermore, dogecoin can be used for minimizing loss at the game.
Some rumours from veterans said the dogecoin is gambling coin with low profit but useful.
Dogecoin is very popular on casinos, so I agreed with mitchr4's suggestion to list Dogecoin on Playbetr.com.
Transaction speed is fast enough, and transaction fee is cheap.
I don't think why you mentioned Dogecoin as low-profit gambling coin. Profits from gambling depends on strategies and luck of gamblers, not on which coins they use to gamble.
