1241  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A hero or a fool? on: December 14, 2023, 04:48:42 PM
I was reading some comments on line today and a story caught my attention, and I want to know how possible this is.

A guy claimed he won $5000 on a poker machine and that's where his addiction began, and when it get to the point that he lost his rent money to gambling he decide to take matters in his one way.

He proceeded by going to gaming commission and had his name banned by himself, ( Someone please tell me how this is possible?) never seen such in my country before. he claimed he still go back to casinos at times and he knew he can't ever win big again, because his name was flagged in the system, and if he win big they won't pay him.

He said he was limited to winning $200, that anymore than this he would have to sign his name and be subject to prosecution for trespassing. He claimed his move took his joy out from gambling real fast, and now he haven't been near a casino in over 10 years.

What do you think? This is an insanely move on oneself to stop addiction, something done right? Would you do the same if such is possible in your country?

I always find it a bit odd when people have to do things like get themselves banned in order to fight a habit. Is it really that difficult to control your own actions? I understand people get addicted to things, but having to go this far in order to get others to keep your habit in check rather than just controlling your own behavior seems odd to me.
1242  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bankroll! on: December 14, 2023, 04:46:44 PM
I know there are bettors here who dream of investing in sports betting and hoping to consistently make money from it.

So, I'd like to ask the following questions:

1. How much bankroll can you afford to start with?

2. With your bankroll, how much expected profit do you anticipate in a year?

3. Will you be content with your profit? If not, have you considered increasing your bankroll, even if you cannot afford it?

I never really think of gambling as me having a bankroll to play with. I just make wagers appropriately for the event in order to increase my entertainment value. Sometimes that might be a lot or sometimes that might be a small amount, but I never have a specific pot to gamble away that I’ve set aside for it. That almost seems forced.

Looks like we don’t have any nationally televised games on tonight but there are a couple of good matchups I wouldn’t have minded watching. The Timberwolves and Mavericks should be a good one as a couple of the games youngest stars face off. Then later you have the Warriors and Clippers which should be a good game as the Warriors are struggling as the Clippers are finding themselves.

Called all my games right today. Always a nice thing. Funniest moment of the night definitely went to the Indiana Pacers who stole the game ball after their loss to the Bucks. Giannis wanted to ball to commemorate his 64 point career high scoring performance. Amazing night for him no doubt and he was not happy about the Pacers taking his ball.
1245  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: December 14, 2023, 01:28:33 AM
I turn on the Lakers game to see that LeBron is out. Information that could have been useful to me prior to placing my bets for the day. I did get the Lakers in a parlay with the 76ers and the Pelicans all winning. Hopefully Anthony Davis can come through and carry them to a win. The way the Spurs have been playing it shouldn’t be too hard.
1246  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 14, 2023, 12:57:58 AM
A lot of talk about Draymond Green’s actions vs the Suns and what is going to happen to him. The league is expected to make a decision tomorrow and according to analysts they are talking about a possible season long suspension. I personally don’t believe it will be that harsh, but he did get off easy on the last suspension so I imagine this one will be 15+ games.
1247  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jake Paul vs Andre August - December 15th in Florida on: December 14, 2023, 12:56:21 AM
A couple days out from this fight and I’ve seen almost no promotion for it. Surely this can’t be good for Jake’s career unless we see another spectacular knockout. Only reason I remembered this fight was even happening was that Jake Paul is on social media today saying he’s a bigger name in fighting than Conor McGregor, which is delusional.

It's probably because this is not a PPV, that's why almost no promotion on this fight. Although DAZN will be the exclusive platform for US and some countries and the Sky channel in United Kingdom.

And based on the odds, Paul is going to win this fight. What's interesting is that after this fight, who will be his next opponent?

This is just a tune up fight for him, maybe rematch with Tom Furry for bigger money.

I don’t think he’ll get another shot at Fury. KSI posted on social media today that Jake has fallen off given his event isn’t even sold out so KSI will not be fighting him in the future. Jake is about to pivot from fighting social media people to fighting real boxers, so I think this fight will be the norm going forward for a while.

ChartBuddy is about to post a $43K! I’m impressed with how fast the market recovered. All thanks be to the Fed it seems as they signaled rate cuts are in the near future and analysts are saying that they nailed a soft landing. I think it might be a little early to declare victory on the economy but I’ll take the stock market and Bitcoin gains.

So not one soul here got their hands on one?
What happened to this delivery event I thought I'd see em on the road this week so far nothing.

they offered a 1000 dollar discount and six months of free charging . to reward me for my preorder.

the catch is thats for taking a model 3 by dec 31.

I will keep waiting for the truck. 🛻

based on that offer maybe june.

A lot of the delivery date will depend on how they expand deliveries. Right now they’re only shipping orders to California and Texas, which is a bit depressing for me. I’m crossing my fingers they expand to Arizona soon but we’ll have to wait and see. Hopefully they’re seeing a lot of preorder cancellations with the new $1000 deposit.
1250  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Target your wins in a series of bets on: December 13, 2023, 05:16:10 PM
This is my approach and through it, I don't get depress over few loses. This method works for me and I feel it will also work for others. Your opinion are highly welcomed.
Can you explain better?

You can give the name of the games you are playing to win 4 times and lose 6 times and get you profit. You can let us know the odds that you are selecting also.

I read it as advice to always hedge your bets. For example, me personally I like to do a lot of multi-bets to get good odds on games I think will turn out a certain way. However, I also bet the games individually, so if a single game doesn’t go the way I expect it to, I still have a chance to make money on the rest of the bets.

Next Chartbuddy >42K

It does look like the worst is over and the market is moving back up again. I don’t know if chart buddy is ready to be back at $42K but it’s certainly getting close. Maybe we haven’t seen the yearly high just yet. I know I feel better when we’re going up instead of down so maybe we have a little more steam left in this Santa Claus rally.

Lucky for me chart buddy didn’t strike when we were above $42K momentarily. I thought for sure this would be the fastest I’ve had to eat my words on this thread. Still, it looks very much like we’ll be hitting $42K on our buddy before day’s end. I’m very glad to see the market not continuing to slide. I got Christmas presents to buy.
1252  Economy / Goods / Re: ~ Buying a TESLA CYBERTRUCK with BITCOIN ~ on: December 13, 2023, 05:10:15 PM
eBay is getting flooded with so many cybertruck preorders that Tesla has started requiring a $1,000 deposit (non-refundable this time) to convert your preorder to an actual order in hopes it gets some people to cancel who aren’t intending to actually purchase for themselves. I hope they keep this up. Gotta weed out preorders from flippers.
1253  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 13, 2023, 03:30:52 PM
A bunch of games on today including a few mismatches that might be worth tossing into a parlay. First you have the 76ers playing the Pistons, who are struggling bad. Then you have the Pelicans playing the Wizards, also struggling bad… Finally you have the Lakers playing the Spurs. Very likely the Pistons, Spurs, & Wizards will all lose.

-10 Boston (They are 10-0 at home, 7-3 ATS, while Cavaliers are on a back to back game. All the advantage is on the Boston)

-7.5 Denver (Both teams are on a back to back game, so let's go back to 1. Since Denver is the better team, I'm choosing them)

LAL vs DAL and GSW vs SUNS.. These games could be a close ones, it's hard to choose that way, so I'll pass.

Just a break even day, won on the Denver bet but was short on the Boston bet.

Currently watching the game now, enjoy the Warriors vs Phoenix game,  and I think the Warriors will take the win.
It's the undermanned Phoenix, Lakers should be able to take advantage on it. Let's just hope this game are not gonna go to OT as Warriors seemed to have trouble in OT games ( speaking of  2 L from OKC)

It was a great ending but the Suns were able to hold on to beat the Warriors. Booker definitely hit the over with a 32 point night and he held on to the game down the stretch as Durant looked on from the bench. Curry did get a chance to tie it at the end with a quick shot off the inbounds but he wasn’t able to pull off a miracle.
1256  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 13, 2023, 05:02:33 AM
The Lakers seemed to be having a bit of hangover after winning the championship in the in season tournament.

They are down 10 points now against a Irving-Less Dallas Mavericks.
I hope they will comeback in the 2nd half and win this game.

BTW, I've taken them live with an odds of 3.06. Good luck to me!

They came back and even take the lead, but the Mavericks also have a big 4th quarter and was able to outrun the Lakers. It was just a 2 point game( final result), if you had taken the handicap instead, you'll likely have the win. Anyway, gambling it is, we sometimes go for bigger reward but big reward does not win most of the time.

I thought LeBron and AD both had good games. Looking at the box scores you have to really dig to see how the Lakers lost this one. In the end I think it boiled down to turnovers. The Lakers had 15 while the Mavericks only had 10. Give the Lakers and extra 5 possessions and I think this game turns out a little bit differently.
1257  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to Get Free Bitcoin: A Beginner's Guide on: December 12, 2023, 07:04:23 PM
Another way to “get free Bitcoin” is with rewards programs. For example, Fold and Coinbase are 2 companies that will give you BTC just for suing their credit cards. I’m sure spending on credit cards is nothing new to most of the people reading this. Make sure you’ve looked into what reward programs are available for stacking sats with your spending.

1259  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Interview for sports bettors. on: December 12, 2023, 06:11:48 PM
I’ve been gambling with sports for as long as I can remember. From simple schoolyard bets to casinos, I’ve done it all. I can’t say I’ve ever had a bad experience either. Sure, nobody likes to lose especially when there’s money involved, but it was always entertaining. I never had a refuse to pay situation or anything to hurt a friendship, so I’d say my experiences have always been positive.
1260  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Google is preparing for Spot Bitcoin ETF on: December 12, 2023, 06:09:21 PM
I think we’re quickly transitioning from Bitcoin being the Wild West to it being a recognized and legitimate currency.  This no doubt will cause others to follow suit in relaxing some of their policies towards cryptocurrencies as they become legitimate products to be advertised instead of fly by night scams to enrich their founders.
