Addiction is in the end just a word. Whether someone is addicted to gambling or they enjoy playing a game with their time is a fine line. I think as long as someone is enjoying themselves and the activity isn’t destructive to the rest of their life it typically isn’t referred to as an addiction, but not everybody has a life that can be so easily sabotaged so who is to say…

Bottom? Not downsizing that bottom… though I always hope bottom is in… Moonboy # 1Looks more like my view when we hit the top of you ask me. More seriously though, it does appear that this was a needed correction and so far the market has been building on that bottom instead of retesting it, so that’s a positive sign. With any luck we don’t see a lower low from here and can get back to pushing towards $50K.

I just read an article highlighting the growth of Coinbase’s app as a metric to gauge the crypto market. While seeing that more people are buying crypto isn’t a bad thing, I think we’re still a ways away from everyone having fomo and smash buying their way to a Bitcoin god candle. Seeing this much interest at this point in the cycle is positive though.

Some good matchups today and they’re being televised on TNT. First you have the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks which is almost certain to be worth the watch as LeBron James and Luka Doncic facing off never disappoints. Then you have the Suns and Warriors which have their own set of superstars facing off.

WHAT IS THIS?!
A DIP FOR ANTS???!!
At 10% and still going I’d call it a legitimate correction on its way to possibly being a major correction. Given the timing of it, I would say that this has perhaps been caused by the mtgox email that went out around the time of the dip. It appears that things are in place to begin distributing the gox coins and I think people are getting ahead of it. However the gox distribution will manipulate the price, Bitcoin's future is more or less mainly dependent on 1) time and 2) fundamentals. I may quote: "Anything else is just noise". EDIT: Seems like the Email is noise as well: https://www.reddit.com/r/mtgoxinsolvency/comments/18fngkx/new_email_mtgoxnotice_concerning_launch_of/EDIT2: In a separate document sent to creditors today, Kobayashi said that on Nov. 17, the rehabilitation trustee received the redemption of 7 billion yen ($46.9 million) from the trust assets to fund the repayment. The remaining amount of the trust assets following such redemption was 8.8 billion yen, according to the notice.
Repayments in cash? But not for all of the creditors, right? I think i remember some survey about how creditors want their refunds, either $BTC or $USD. So, does that mean that the trustee/trust already sold almost half of the gox coins? And the rest is going to creditor wallets "soon, too"? I never have been so much into that mtGox refunding story, so please forgive if i sound clueless I didn’t request a fiat payout so I can’t really comment on the progress of that. All I know is that my understanding of the gox email is that it is likely I will receive payment before another email, so I wouldn’t say it’s nothing. It could be the last gox email. The timing is mostly what makes me believe it had an effect on the market.

Conor McGregor seems to be making some public appearances these days. He looks a lot smaller now to me then just a few months ago when he was filming for his movie role. He’s taking some heat on social media for facing off with Peter Yan but it seemed harmless enough. Also a good story with the kid from years ago winning his first fight at the event.

A household where both husband and wife are gambling addicts sounds like a good beginning to a Hollywood movie. I can only imagine the kind of issues they would have. I’m not sure what the proper way for one of them to quit would be. Seems like it would be better if they both quit and were there for each other as a support system.

The great question about this win is this; do we think Lakers are good enough to try for the finals for real? Or did nobody cared about the title here?
The fact that the Lakers are the in-season tournament champions means nothing in that regard. I mean, there's a lot of competition in the regular season, and now there are teams that have a better chance to be champions than the Lakers. Nevertheless, I don't rule out that the Lakers can go far in the playoffs if Davis and LeBron are healthy. I’m a little surprised the Lakers won the tournament but they had a few factors going for them. First being that it was obvious LeBron wanted this more than anyone else and it showed with him getting the MVP. Secondly, they didn’t face any of the elite teams in the NBA. This is a good sign for them, but a playoff run will be much much harder.

I’m not sure if I would say that loneliness is a cause of gambling addiction itself, but more that being bored or having free time can cause someone to begin looking for ways to keep themselves entertained. I imagine lonely people probably have a lot of free time, which is why they are lonely. I could see this causing them to use entertainment more frequently than others, possibly opening them up more to addiction.

Congrats to the Lakers for winning the in season tournament (down to the final 2 minutes). LeBron seemed like he wasn’t going to let this honor slip away from him as it was his chance to do something Jordan never did. You have to give the credit for this one to Anthony Davis though who had a monster game. Looks like he’s going to end up with around 40 points and 20 rebounds.

I can't actually put my hand around it, OP was saying stuff about the detailed report on Cyber Truck and how he Pre-ordered it way before it got to manufacturing point and at the end of it all he stated price of Bitcoin.
May I ask, is it ideal to state the price of the Bitcoin as a concern?
When it was ordered, the price of Bitcoin wasn't the same as it is now so its not a concern to me. For all we know, OP may have converted Fiat to Bitcoin few seconds before he ordered it.
I had to add the Bitcoin element for the thread to be relevant to this forum. The comparisons of BTC when ordered to now was the expectation that the price in BTC would go down over time, which it has. I haven’t converted anything in relation to this order yet. My expectation is to convert BTC to fiat when making payment if BTC is not being accepted. I also need to update the OP with the new pricing…

How about this for a daily parlay today…
Orlando Magic beating the Detroit Pistons Brooklyn Nets beating the Washington Wizards Minnesota Timberwolves beating the Memphis Grizzlies Denver Nuggets beating the Houston Rockets Dallas Mavericks beating the Portland Trail Blazers
Maybe also the… Clippers beating the Jazz Celtics beating the Knicks … but I’m less confident over those two.
Man, the Denver Nuggets really screwed my parlay by dropping one to the Houston Rockets. They made a valiant comeback in the fourth but it wasn’t enough to make up for the massive deficit they found themselves in going into the last quarter. Luckily I bet the individual games too, but it would’ve been nice to hit a 7 game parlay.

Judging by their past matchups, I find the Pacers to be the better team as they defeated the top two teams in the East. First, they beat the Celtics, and now the Bucks, so they should not be underestimated just because the Lakers are the popular team. The Lakers, on the other hand, beat the Suns and the Pelicans, which are not even in the top 3 in the West.
I understand that it's hard to predict, but I suggest you follow your own intuition as this should be a close match.
I think it is quite the opposite, Pacers are a fine team there is no doubt about that, but Lakers are doing wonders at a stacked Western conference, and that's a very good thing for them, they are looking like they are one of the better teams in the league. I think Pacers will lose and I think Lakers will win this one. I am sure of just one thing and that is the fact that there will be a lot of betting on this game without a doubt, it is going to be quite obvious and we are going to see a lot of changes for sure. I think it should be important to remember that we are talking about Lakers and Lebron here, when it is the finals Lebron may not have wonderful record, but he does have plenty of rings to show how he plays much better on finals. I'm on the Pacers side and honestly I have a side bet on them winning the finals. Going to put some dough on Haliburton taking home the MVP. Can't believe the Knicks passed on him taking obi, still eats me up especially because they needed a point guard back then. Dude is gonna be a monster. Only thing that can stop him is if playoff Bron is in full effect. It's going to be a good challenge for the Lakers here, I also agree that Haliburton might win the MVP finals as the main offense of the Pacers will be executed from him, I mean he's expected to bring everything on his shoulder to win the finals. Though, from the other side of myself, I also see Lakers to bring everything in, LeBron and Davis combine plus everyone who also needed to provide whatever help they can give for both superstars. And for sure lebron wants to win the first play in tourny no doubt. He wants to be the best player ever he needs to have all of these things under his belt. This would just be another cherry to go along with the rest of his accolades. I still think Pacers take it but I'm gonna throw some money on the over for lebron points. He gonna shoot a ton. I think you’re right about LeBron and having additional motivation. I think this is a case of him simply wanting it more than everyone else. I wouldn’t bet against him either as he’s playing at an elite level. I think he takes home the win and probably does it in superstar fashion with a big game. I might have to follow you on the points bet.

I don’t regret ever gambling. I’ve had a lot of fun doing so. Whether I’m up or down money wise is an unknown to me but I don’t ever gamble large amounts so I’d imagine I’m probably +/- $1,000. Given the amount of fun I’ve had with poker nights and sports bets, it was easily worth the price of admission. Just be responsible and gambling can be fun.

Well, this prediction is looking real good right now. I’m a bit surprised we moved up so far so fast but I guess there’s been enough cycles now that the big boys have it figured out and are stacking all they can before the big god candle hits. My question to AI now would be, what will the price be 2 years from now.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Count down to Bitcoin halving.
|
on: December 08, 2023, 06:59:01 PM
|
I've seen so many bitcoin halving countdown on different sites and it shows that they have a different time on every each of them. I guess that they are all estimates of the bitcoin halving. I'm personally not much exited about the halving to be honest as I experienced it a few times already, the thing that makes me exited is the possibility that bitcoin price can drop after the bitcoin halving. I know that it would be the last chance to accumulate bitcoin as much as I can on it's lowest price possible before bull run, so yeah, I'm anticipating a price dump after halving and I'm currently preparing my moon bags to be filled.
I’m sure different countdowns have different methods of trying to predict the exact time of the halving. It isn’t an exact science though. Things like luck and network growth play a little part in determining exactly when it will happen. I think like you it is also possible the price will drop immediately after the halving when people realize it takes a year or 18 months for the market to peak once the new supply is halved.

Bitcoiners seem to have this argument where they’re against using the blockchain for purposes that they don’t seem worthy while ignoring all other opinions. If Ordinals are banned from the blockchain, I think Lightning should get the same treatment. I never signed up for giving block space to some other layer of privately patented transactions. The fact one company pushing their patents is making these decisions is the single worst thing that has ever happened to Bitcoin.
