1221  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 17, 2023, 10:20:51 PM
I saw an interesting stat about the Lakers playing without their stars...  They are 0-2 now after the recent loss to San Antonio without Anthony Davis.  At the same time, they are 2-0 without LeBron James.  This certainly leads one to believe that Anthony Davis is important to the Lakers, maybe even moreso than LeBron James.  Interesting to note that in both scenarios they played the Spurs and even in the game they won (without LeBron James), they barely squeaked by with a win.  This makes me think the problems with the Lakers are less about talent, and more about motivation.  The win in the tournament also supports that.

Low Priority
202 sat/vB
$11.89

I was actually waiting for it to be going down in <20sats/byte considering that it did really
go below <40sats/byte but here we come again into this situation which it do really sucks big time.
To be honest, I would not pay $12 for just a transaction. It's just too much for me. I would rather let my funds sit on my wallet and let it be until this shit ends.  It's just not worth it. If I could save even $2 per transaction, I would happily save it. Imagine how much would it sum up in a year.

That is completely understandable. I’ve had a lot of people lately tell me that they don’t want to spend Bitcoin to buy my goods because of high fees. I’ve started accepting pretty much any major altcoin as a result, which has left me with an interesting mix of coins, but it shows that high fees are most definitely punishing Bitcoin vendors and customers alike.
1223  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 17, 2023, 12:12:43 AM
It's painful to watch this Pistons. Bucks made 30 points difference in just 14 minutes. I know I should've bet for them at -20.5 handicap but I couldn't. There's no place for emotions in that. Meh, let's enjoy the game. Beauchamp started good, now Portis is feeling himself. They don't even need Giannis tonight.

It’s hard to imagine that a team of professional athletes can win so few games and lose so badly. It’s like they’re not trying to win games…

I was bummed to see that Bradley Beal was injured again yesterday. Looks like he only got 4 minutes on the court with Durant and Booker. I hope he gets healthy soon and there was some silver lining as he shot 2-2 for 6 points while draining a 3 and a free throw for a 4 point play that left him injured.
1224  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] 2011 Series 2 Casascius 1 btc brass coin on: December 17, 2023, 12:10:14 AM
Why is it the rarest among the Casascius?

It is the rarest among the brass Casascius coins because it was originally released with an error in the hologram. Once the holograms were corrected, the remaining stock was switched over to the new hologram but there weren’t many left compared to other releases. That makes it more rare than even the first error coin, which you might think would be the most sought after.
1225  Economy / Collectibles / Re: WTB ANACS CASASCIUS on: December 17, 2023, 12:06:17 AM
CASASCIUS IN ANACS HOLDERS: .1, .5 (brass), 1 (brass or gilt). Something of decent quality - no big black spots on brass coins. Willing to pay fair but not "pry it from your hands" price. Your coin, you set the price. I'm not afraid to be patient if this inquiry is not fruitful.

I have a few 1 BTC Casascius coins that I’d let go for the right price. If I’m setting the price it would be 1.35 BTC for the latest brass Casascius coin, but of course there’s always room to negotiate. Smiley Any idea what you’re willing to pay for the right specimen? I’d also require payment up front. Good luck with your hunt. They’re out there.
1226  Economy / Gambling / Re: tell me the best online casino on: December 16, 2023, 07:00:25 PM
I’m going to say while your wishlist is full of great things that casinos can offer to attract users, the only thing that really matters is #1 that it is of course not a scam casino. All the bonuses and benefits in the world won’t mean a thing if the casino isn’t reputable and lets you withdraw your funds. For that reason I suggest Stake, who I feel is the most reputable casino in the space.

This year is ending with a bitcoin price $60k?

Doubt.

Same. I don’t see us even hitting $50K this month/year. It would require breaking through some pretty long lasting resistance levels. $45K or maybe even $47K I would see as possible, but it would take a great deal of buying to get us to even $49K, let alone breaking the psychological barrier of $50K in such a short time.
1228  Economy / Reputation / Re: Goodbye, world! on: December 16, 2023, 06:41:37 PM
Lauda was a pretty significant member of the community. Former staff I see. Yeah.. I don't think Lauda is going to be impossible to contact. Maybe difficult, but not impossible. It'll take alot of time though

Significant how? As far as I could tell Lauda was directly involved in one of the largest ICO escrow scams ever pulled here who lied about multisig and stored funds on an exchange. Plus HE was a constant troll who is responsible for chasing countless members from this forum over the years and always seemed to support the wrong side of every argument. Not to mention a confirmed extortionist who was fired for doing so… I guess that’s “significant” in it’s own way.
1229  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: December 16, 2023, 06:32:50 PM
A lot of evenly matched games today but none that I particularly want to watch. There are a couple of easy wins on the table if you wanted to get a parlay victory but I’m not sure how much you’d win. The Bucks should easily beat the Pistons today though and likewise for the Mavericks beating the Trail Blazers.
1230  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 16, 2023, 07:44:22 AM
I think we’re seeing the Santa Claus rally due a little as people start window dressing their portfolios for the end of the year and taking profits or rebalancing. This might cause a stall in the price for a bit but I suspect we’ll see the rally resume once tax returns start making their way to the market. Too much positive news for it to end here.

I have a bad feeling about the Ferguson vs Paddy fight. Obviously as a fellow Liverpool fan I want Paddy to win but I dunno, I think it will be a big test for him. Ferguson is a seasoned fighter, a real yard dog.

Weigh in video - https://youtu.be/hVceH46XUHk

I’m excited to see Paddy fight again. I don’t think he would stand a chance against Tony in his prime, but maybe now he can… We’ll see. I think Paddy might struggle with Tony’s speed and endurance but if it goes to the floor I think Paddy can get him. It’s a good fight matchup and definitely Paddy’s biggest challenge yet.
1232  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 16, 2023, 04:23:13 AM
The Lakers have been playing so well lately and then today they mess up my parlay by losing to the now 4-20 San Antonio Spurs. That should’ve been a gimme. They need to work on keeping the same energy they had in the tournament. Also news, the Spurs are attempting to trade for Bol Bol to create an insane twin tower situation in Texas.
1233  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jake Paul vs Andre August - December 15th in Florida on: December 16, 2023, 04:19:55 AM
You gotta give props to Jake Paul when they’re due. He knocked that Andre dude out in the first round with a wicked uppercut. Even the clip made it seem like there wasn’t much hype in the building but you have to consider this mission accomplished if you’re Jake Paul. A brutal knockout on a real boxer… That’s what people said he couldn’t do…
1234  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RTX 4090 and others on: December 16, 2023, 12:30:36 AM
It will be interesting to see what demand is out there for these cards. I don’t think many people are mining alts yet but they are profitable so I would imagine it will be difficult getting your hands on one of these cards. Might have to watch Best Buy inventory and hope to get lucky. I know I’d like to grab one of these for testing in January.
1235  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 16, 2023, 12:27:45 AM
The interesting thing to me about Draymond Green’s suspension is that it is indefinite. I can’t recall ever seeing the NBA do this type of suspension before. I think it’s a good thing as long as he doesn’t come back next week and I think it shows the league actually cares about his mental health a bit. I also think if they suspended him longer for the Gobert choking, this may have been avoided.

Corporations will now be able to report btc gains on their asset if they hold it, pumping their overall stock price value for EOY reporting.

Funny how a major barrier to corporate bitcoin holding adoption is changed right before the coming Bitcoin ETF approvals?

What amazing timing! I'm shocked, shocked I tells ya! /s  Roll Eyes

https://twitter.com/davidmarcus/status/1734974716505649531

This is indeed a big deal but it’ll be another year before it goes into effect so the timing of it being announced right before the ETF approval doesn’t mean much. What it does mean is that a perfect storm is once again brewing for the 4 year ATH to get set in mid/late 2025. Exciting for people who are already happy with the $40K price.
1237  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 15, 2023, 12:15:33 AM
Also bitcoin is also touching back again at $43k so guess we have another round to try out if bitcoin could able to reach at $50k this month.

That's a tall order in my opinion.  It would have to take out a great deal of old resistance to get above $50K.  I don't see it happening, but I've been wrong before with how bullish this market is.  I personally think $48K is about as high as we can hope for in the near term.  Maybe if an ETF does get approved in early January we'll see a candle take us up near the all time high, but to me it seems too early in the cycle for that.  I would be expecting a heavy correction at that point, but maybe FTX holding down the market caused more built up buying pressure than I had assumed.
1238  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Quickest way to earn merit? on: December 15, 2023, 12:12:56 AM
I'm new here. What's all about this merit count? How is it earned? I'm assuming it's linked to the quality/usefulness of your posts/replies? Their originality maybe? What are usually the subjects you'd get the more merit for posting about?

You got quite a bit of merit on your first post here so I think you probably know more than most of the posters on this forum how to earn it.  You displayed that you had some knowledge and were actively seeking a solution, which brought out some good replies and merit.  I think you'll do just fine if you continue using the forum like that and don't worry about trying to earn more merit.  It will come as you post, regardless of what the topic is so long as you display that you're honestly presenting knowledgeable information on whatever you're discussing.
1239  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Craze for Meme coins never ends? on: December 15, 2023, 12:08:56 AM
As long as there is somebody telling a story of how they got rich easily, there will be people willing to try it for themselves.  The entire meme coin industry seems built upon the back of the greater fool theory, so I've never jumped into that pool personally, but I do know quite a few people who got involved with crypto after wading into the pool with dogecoin.  Elon Musk seems to have generated quite a few crypto people with his involvement and promotion of dogecoin.  Hopefully we can see him promote Bitcoin by getting Tesla to start accepting it again soon.
1240  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How exactly do you find new tokens before they blow up. on: December 15, 2023, 12:07:05 AM
I've only found 1 coin before it hit "blow up" status and that way Ravencoin.  I guess I started buying it because I had heard about it from Patrick Byrne who was at the time the CEO of Overstock and had a history with Bitcoin and alternative investments.  I believed his vision that it could help people run organizations transparently on a blockchain and that he may even get legitimate offerings like Overstock stock on the platform.  I ended up scoring a big return getting out during a bubble and I don't think Ravencoin has seen much success since, but I guess sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.
