4662  Economy / Speculation / Re: We going back to $30 on: June 11, 2013, 09:59:24 AM
I can't imagine the price landing past 80 usd for any serious amount of time.  To be clear I don't suspect we'll go that low.

what's your reasoning for this?  what if the winklevoss twins decide, 'fuck it, lets dump this, we made a mistake.'  then clicks that sell button.

an unlikely scenario, but the thing is dont go into that line of thinking. cos right now anything is possible.

I used logic and my viewpoint of history to make that call.  We had a fairly big dump not long ago and the price held strong.  That tells me that people are not easily scared by the price on a day to day basis and are less likely to panic sell.

I watched the price hover at 80 usd on the rise of the "bubble" which makes me feel comfortable making that call.  I'm not worried about the twins selling coins,  I think there is a growing number of people that will gladly buy them.  If they did sell I suspect they wouldn't dump all instantly IMO.
What makes me worry is that if the price is steadily and slowly declining (like this seems to be the case) the psychological consequences are unpredictable.
People are now used to sudden drops in price but they all feel it will be up in the long term - if this gets shaken...

(While a sharp rise of XRP -it is x8 since mid April when BTC 'crashed'- may accelerate this trend)

Man, panic buying going on. As soon as it hits 120, I'm shorting like crazy...

Smiley

apparently manipulators want the price to keep high for a wile.. Smiley
the drop will be massive. ..
we might hit real bottom this time
there's not enough bying power yet to turn trend imho.

been watching orderbook .. the real buy power isnt there yet..  but it's definately bigger as last weeks..

even when i'm having a little loss..  i rather have moving volumes then boring trading as last weeks..  so i can correct my mistakes

+1
The increase in volume is mainly due to traders scalping on higher volatility with some isolated big buys and lemmings following. The trend is still downward currently.

+2 unfortunately, I don't see a bullish market now. despite some efforts It's sad that the price tends to move down... The big buys were isolated efforts from big buyers but I don't see collective push towards the 110's yet... if this week stays in the 105 range, next weekend will be devastating...
Sad
I like the way you analyze - a rare serious voice in this thread lol

Divide the amount with xrp too - diversify as you can!

4668  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin - game over on: June 09, 2013, 06:59:58 PM
it was at 87 a few weeks ago and bounced back to 130.  I'm sure you said it was "game over" then too.  If you say that every time it drops, you will be right eventually but wrong every other time of course.

this!

this!

And we touched $89.00 - more lows to come
Should 79 break, the technical picture will be completely damaged.
We will hit 50$ and stabilize around 70-75$ I predict

timeframe, timeframe
Today (or tonight it depends where you live - I am European).

@ JoelKatz

As far as I know Bitstamp is not yet FinCen compliant.
How does this effect your business with them?
4674  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the best country to start an exchange in? on: May 31, 2013, 05:18:55 PM
Pakistan - no FinCEN shit!
4675  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is there a Hashing Bubble in the making? on: May 28, 2013, 05:30:52 PM
note how they are closing the money transfer to the exchanges, one by one. The underworld crime association with crypto has to stop and fast or there will be no crypto coins with any value whatsoever very soon . People investing 10's of thousand in equipment should be aware of this. On the other end, the crazy difficulty forecast will have big ASIC miners run them to cover the investment. The promise land of fat profits (AKA greed) will not be there.
But what if the recent events sky rockets the price? At least in local traders...

So any arbitrage opportunities here?

Just like a gateway in ripple, this is the point of weakness for all the P2P exchange design: That escrow/gateway must be able to communicate with banks through an authorized channel and that channel is controlled by banks

Yes, as long as you have to communicate with legacy bank systems, you will have to follow their rules and regulations KYC etc...
Do not expect this to make proper exchanges obsolete all of the sudden. You need to take the commerce completely out of legacy bank system to not depended on whims of the banks. Or we could just buy a few banks... and have them run some OT servers.

This or commodities to cryptos..
4680  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Holy Grail! I wish I could kiss the author of Bitmessage on his face. on: May 22, 2013, 08:57:01 AM
From that pastebin:

"9. Alice's Escrow awakens in 1-5 minutes, and starts periodically checking (via SEPA calls) to see if BOB_SEPA has received the Euros. If so, she automatically releases the Escrow to Jorg's silver account on OT."

This escrow must be able to check the banking transaction via SEPA calls, and I suppose without a formal contract with banks, he won't be able to listen to those calls

Just like a gateway in ripple, this is the point of weakness for all the P2P exchange design: That escrow/gateway must be able to communicate with banks through an authorized channel and that channel is controlled by banks

The core problem is, all of the exchanges today still operate inside a banking framework (the exchange must have a bank account to operate). In order to bypass the existing banking system, there should first be a P2P bank that stores fiat money, that bank could in turn carry its exchange without the involvement of traditional banks

Voucher safe solves this -why don't you people forget the whole cryptos<->fiat thing? It will be a point of failure unless a P2P bank is established (dream on)..
