To all Gigaminers:

I still have not heard anything from GLBSE. I continue to work with counsel to understand all of the options to continue Gigamining.

When I know more, you'll know more.

Best,
gigavps
Best of luck sorting it all out.

Hope GLBSE come through with information soon.

When they do I expect that they'll send it twice Grin

@fizzisist many thanks for the 1Private solution link
2183  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanity Pool - vanity address generator pool on: October 23, 2012, 09:53:57 PM
VanityPool still lists 1Private but refuses to accept solutions (one of my rig found the solution and all of the ones I pointed at VanityPool tried to submit new ones several times).

I am sorry to hear that. Did you double check that the solution is correct? There have been cases of the miner coming up with incorrect answers. You can check your answer here: gobittest.appspot.com .

I will look into the issue.

That's one of my bounties & hasn't been sent to me as solved as yet.
2184  Economy / Gambling / Re: [BITLOTTO] Oct draw over! Next draw Nov 2! on: October 22, 2012, 04:37:57 PM
Handing them over to a cashier takes a lot of trust as there have been cases where they just say you didn't win & then get someone else to cash it in & split the proceeds, I'll link to a big one in France in a mo, so the story you linked to does look very suspect of just that having happened but with so much time elapsed hard to prove anything. Some retailers you can see the amount of any win on their ticket reader display but better still is the bar code readers where you can just scan them yourself, or to check online/newspapers for the results or watch the draw live.

hmm, no surprise seems very common http://www.lotterypost.com/news/167801

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/9154969/Newsagent-stole-winning-156000-lottery-ticket-from-pensioner.html

can't find the French case as yet, it was big & the guy always played the same numbers & the lotto company wondered why he kept doing so after he had won with them & I think there was also trouble between the newsagent & the stooge he got to collect the winning from the stolen ticket
2185  Economy / Speculation / Re: wow, bitcoin's astro birth chart is full on! on: October 21, 2012, 07:23:39 PM
An important conjunction of transiting Venus (outer ring in green moving anticlockwise) with Bitcoin's natal Saturn in Virgo going on right now, maybe a time to take stock of just what Bitcoin loves, appreciates, values & enjoys once again in the realm of day to day operation, service & attention to detail especially.

The week ahead

The annual conjunction of the Sun and Saturn happens this week. Saturn/Sun conjunctions are all about facing facts, from next Thursday one can now make commitments with more certainty. The fact that this happens in Scorpio which the sun moves in to on Tuesday will highlight these trends - emotional, intense, possessive, secretive which we have already been seeing plenty of with the GLBSE fiasco.

So for those who need to get stuff sorted out next week could seem rather serious, even somber at times with setbacks & requiring perseverance, but necessary & by month's end things should look brighter and more back in control as hurdles are gotten over & one can be getting it all together again. Just in time to prepare for the challenges of next month's eclipses where one will need to be open to adapt to new & different ways of doing things.

Isn't what counts the sum total of bounties that are offered by any one public key, it would be worth trying for a low probability say 9 digit after the 1 vanity if there were sufficient potential reward by the same PUB in 8's to 6's?

Oh yeah, this makes it even more complicated. It's an interesting puzzle...

indeed, firstbits: 1puzzle = 1PUZZLESWrLbh5HTdMFY7y1tintsxQtWmL solved here earlier today

No dividends were paid for the last 2 weeks because GLBSE went tits up before they became due, when giga gets the holders info (number of GM units, email address & bitcoin address) they'll be sent & also hopefully some way to upgrade to tera as all of us still involved here need the chance to recoup some of our losses for backing giga's enterprise.

Bitcoin's horoscope for the week of October 18, 2012

http://www.freewillastrology.com/horoscopes/tarot_cards/tarot27.jpg   Everyone has some kind of power. What's yours? In the coming days, I suspect there will be some crisis and opportunity regarding how you use it. Maybe you will be invited to assume more authority or exercise greater influence. Maybe your ability to wield your particular clout will be questioned or doubted, and you will be challenged to either stand up and express it with more integrity and purpose, or else relinquish it. For best results, take a moment right now to visualize the precise power you would love to command.
2191  Economy / Speculation / Re: When the price will booom! on: October 15, 2012, 07:57:55 PM
There seems to be some consensus around 5 years which is also what I've been predicting on other threads, by 2017 I think we will see very wide spread awareness of bitcoins & hence a critical mass for adoption by both people & businesses, this will happen in America first imo, by then I would expect to see a price of over $60 per coin which would give a $1 B market cap, but there is going to be a lot of controversy before we get there so plenty of buying opportunities. I also see Litecoin with 4 times as many coins & faster transactions, ideal for Starbucks type TX getting over $1 before then & plenty growth potential too also as a Bitcoin backup currency when the heat gets on to BTC.
2192  Economy / Speculation / Re: Poll :: When will Bitcoin reach $1 Billion total value on: October 15, 2012, 06:42:35 PM
Updated the OP & summary post above to show the prize coins set aside for this, I'm thinking now we'll see this happening in 2017 with a price of over $60 per BTC then & not just a bubble either.

Prizes:

1BiLLioN
1GramAu1
1x2wins

Note entries for the prizes are closed.

As for profiting I have done nothing but lose a ton of bitcoins since joining any mining interests, so making a profit doesn't come in to it even - I would just like to lose a little less bitcoins which can only happen if Giga gets the ASCIS earlier than others & hashes them out for us as he'd proposed before.
2194  Economy / Services / Re: Gigamining / Teramining on: October 13, 2012, 12:29:52 PM
Another way to look at it, when ppl bought a 'unit' of Gigamining they were paying you to do some computer hashing work on their behalf just as if they had paid you to do some graphic design work for them, ppl then sold/passed some of these 'units' on to others & now they get the rewards of the contracted hashing & these rewards are in bitcoins as was what was paid to you for the work, I can't see this as being a problem for anyone, it's like paying someone in an in-game virtual currency to level you up or farm game-gold for you - ie it's nobody else's business.

Bitcoin's horoscope for the week ahead, October 13, 2012

Things aren't the way they used to be. If that statement makes you feel sad or sorry, there may be some aspect of a recent change that you have not yet got used to - or that you don't fully understand. You are leaving nothing behind in the past that you need to take with you. All you're moving on from is a frustrating situation that you should feel blessed to be free of. It is time to review your list of things that won't work/can't happen/aren't viable. Now Saturn is in a new sector of the sky, you've got a whole new set of powers!

Incoming Smiley

Most astrological aspects are very predictable for thousands of years in advance, but every so often there comes literally a bolt out of the blue, one such is the comet C2012/1 ISON that should be very visible around Christmastime 2013, imagine something in the sky that's brighter than the moon, visible by day and more impressive than anyone alive has ever seen, it may well be & I feel that it will be a very hopeful sign for those of us that do see and experience it.

2198  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: Starfish BCB - Loans and Deposits on: October 11, 2012, 10:17:05 PM
If Patrick had only classified his investment thing as a managed hedge/mutual fund, with returns based on his investment skills as opposed to fixed interest "savings account" style returns, none of this would have been a problem. Losses would have had to be taken by the customers instead of Patrick, and his returns would have been consistent with the average hedge fund (lesson: don't invest in bitcoins, people. You'll save time by just flushing your money down the toilet).

the "average" hedge fund managed by a well-educated, certified professional typically grow at 3% per year.

Bitcoin "investments" claim to be capable of 5-7% per week, then typically collapse a month later with the 'manager' disappearing with all the 'investors'' money.

Truly, it's the dirty fiat currency that has the problem here.

Although Moody's and S&P were hammered in 2009 for not downgrading US debt sooner, they do a very thorough review of a company's financials  before issuing a rating.  I would be shocked if Patrick's review was more than a couple of PM's.  "Hey man, is your investment going to collapse?"  "No, dude."  "Good enough, AAAA+++ rating for you!"

His ratings were focused on those offering them & not their particular offerings & the first thing to ascertain by him would be a real life ID I assume, with passport, driver's license, SS for US issuers, utilities bills in the same name & all confirmed by a rigorous Skype proof of docs recorded session, for those borrowers who are now in default I expect he would be prepared to release this info to those who lent to them so that ppl can take action against them if they wish otherwise what was the point, I will request this for those who ripped me off soon.

Bitcoin's horoscopes for Thursday October 11, 2012

In countries where there is often a lot of snow, drivers carry chains to place around their tyres. This gives them the traction they require to stop slipping and sliding around. Saturn's arrival in a new sector of the sky has effectively begun to bless you with a greater grip. You understand more about how to deal with a difficult situation and you feel less as if you must be constantly on guard for unexpected and unnerving developments. Today's events will do much to increase and strengthen that sense of confidence.
2200  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: bitfloor needs your help! on: October 11, 2012, 11:45:13 AM
ACH withdrawal was enabled on my account, it took a while but implemented earlier this week & just when I planned to test it out Wells Fargo go & break it, oh well I shall look at doing this in November now, I hope that Bitfloor will find the US banks more cooperative than the UK ones have proved to be for other Exchanges up until now. I guess that this explains why there's a 139 btc bid there atm for $12.20 while Gox price is just under $12 now, a nice arb op for someone who doesn't mind waiting to get the $ out.
