What do you guys think about this new name for a coin?  It actually stands for something, its not just a name or number but that's not so important Right now, I'm curious what people's reactions will be to the actual name cause it is a but different than any other coin.

The name is:  District314

And at second look I love the fact it has God numbers.  Lol, but that's not the reason for these numbers, it's just a nice bonus.

What say you?

ಠ_ಠ

I'm not sure what that means.

While on Crytsy chat today I thought of another sweet new coin name for which I own rhe domain.

ZionCoin.

Man,  I know you guys love that one.

You should contact r3wt, those are great coins

Actually r3 has his own coin now, I don't know what took him so long.  It's OCoin.  It's some kind of OpenSource coin.  Great idea.  I think I inspired a lot of people to start their own coin.  They thought if this guy who doesn't know what a block chain did it then why don't I.

See, a lot of good came from this coin.

But the best part is that so many people on Cryptsy have heard about nuggets and about this guy Vlad and lots of them think that I was some real serious DEV.  Lol, man, I had a blast over there the last few days messing with those people.

I've bought a few core positions in a number of coins. If one of them pays out then I'll have money to start upgrading NUGGETS.  And maybe kickstart my 2 mining rigs.

1822  Other / Meta / Re: BitcoinTalk++ script - v0.2.0 on: September 12, 2013, 08:23:12 PM
I just downloaded the new version @ the library. All set! Please work on the settings being server now that you have something to host it on. It is annoying to change it every time I use a different computer.
Done, look at the settings page it's pretty straight-forward I think.
Thank you because I would never have done it without some reminders. And it's a hassle to change all the settings again each time I delete/reinstall BT++ on my dev PCs...
0.2.0, finally...

Going to fix the unicode bug now
Done. The € symbol is inside the script itself, I don't get why sometimes it becomes this mess... I'll try to check that each time to find out what happens.

BTW, look at this link: http://imgur.com/QXSxMg2
It gives the filename and the name of the uploader. (both could be manually modified though)
Should I change that?
I already put an "anonymous image upload" setting but I'm not sure whether I should put it on Yes or No by default.
I do not really care, but it might be smart to set the standard option to No. Just to avoid tinfoil people ;p
Yeah seems better. We never know.
I guess you meant Yes though? Grin
1825  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BitcoinTalk++ script on: September 12, 2013, 06:32:04 PM
   Does this script automatically update itself? Or everytime there's an update am I suppose to reinstall it or something...?
Auto update depends on what you use. Greasemonkey / tampermonkey checks (and if needed updates) once a hour or so. If you use the .crx file, it check (and if needed updates) every 6 hours.
This.
Except if you have a "strange" environment it should auto update.
1826  Other / Meta / Re: BitcoinTalk++ script - v0.1.41 on: September 12, 2013, 06:21:07 PM
Auto hide would be pretty bad imho. It might just be another opinion. Coloring would be nice.
It would be opt-in and configurable

There once was a rating system on this forum for a short while. The problem was that people who got -1 got pissed and randomly -1ed everybody....  Maybe with only a few members it will work but with everybody only +1 makes sense imho unless your system makes  votes from -1ed people not count or something. probably -1 would still create a bad climate.
People can't -1 everybody here. The lists of votes are public so if someone doing this is spotted we can talk about that here and I can ban him. This is not a democracy.

I like the Perlmonks voting system a lot. Users get a limited amounts of votes per day and get experience points (XP) when spending those votes and when others upvote their posts. People massively downvoting is punished with a loss of XP.
I don't think it would fit here. The BT++ voting system is not a trust system and I think your link describes something that is more useful about trust.
I don't mind people -1ing all the scammers/beggers/spammers/etc even if they don't +1 the "positive" users.

does not work for me Sad
I always get "website not available" after I uploaded and inserted an IMG. strange
What happens? OS? Browser? BT++ version?
Where is "website not available" written? In the Upload button?

Testing Upload Image.

Works Grin
Good to hear that

I see
Maybe it's not a pool
If it is a pool, maybe it pays its users assuming 100FLO as a block reward

If not, yes, the users should be concerned

I believe the next.afraid.org pool wrote an incorrect coinbase transaction into the blockchain. The transaction ID is a9a799594ab5e9b7729aaaacf2dd2bd55c878e693e2bc00c9cb46331ca6d9fb5.

http://florinexchange.com/explorer/tx/?txid=a9a799594ab5e9b7729aaaacf2dd2bd55c878e693e2bc00c9cb46331ca6d9fb5

It seems the coin amounts have been divided by 100, and there is a nonstandard vout listed as well (I'm not exactly sure what this means):
Code:
"value" : 0.00000000,
"n" : 6,
"scriptPubKey" : {
"asm" : "9aab71e536d19d4eac0d5fa897e143ffaf2fb9546017023fe3812a036e711f1c03000100",
"hex" : "249aab71e536d19d4eac0d5fa897e143ffaf2fb9546017023fe3812a036e711f1c03000100",
"type" : "nonstandard"
}

I'm wondering how to contact the owner of this pool. Maybe I'll send a Florin message to F83dw8jJ5Gh2tPhStesEJZMoVsAL2Qyg91? Cheesy

What do you mean incorrect?
If it is accepted in the blockchain then it's correct
1830  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Generate an address on: September 12, 2013, 04:19:21 PM
A private key is just a 256-bit random number. (Well, a number between 1 and hex value FFFF FFFF FFFF FFFF FFFF FFFF FFFF FFFE BAAE DCE6 AF48 A03B BFD2 5E8C D036 4141.)

Where did you get that God awful number?  The actual value of p for secp256k1 is:

p = FFFFFFFF FFFFFFFF FFFFFFFF FFFFFFFF FFFFFFFF FFFFFFFF FFFFFFFE FFFFFC2F

I got it from the Private Key page on the Bitcoin wiki. I don't know whether the number is right or wrong, but feel free to update the wiki (perhaps it should have a citation, even?) if the value there is wrong. I apologize for not checking my sources more thoroughly, or at least citing where I was getting my info from.

In any event, it's rather unlikely that a random 256-bit number won't be in the range. If somebody gets heads a ton of times in a row, they may want to double-check the upper bound before using it. (Or, perhaps more likely, check that their coin is fair…)
The integer p specifying the finite field Fp can be found here:

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Secp256k1

which is really just copied from section 2.7.1 "Recommended Parameters secp256k1" on page 15 of this document:

http://www.secg.org/collateral/sec2_final.pdf

I will verify this and then fix the wiki if I am correct.

I just answered to your post in the dev&tech forum
It's n because G^(n+1) = G
By the way a private key above n is valid, it's just that it will equivalent to (private key)%n
1831  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: NSA and ECC on: September 12, 2013, 04:17:05 PM
While everyone is gathered here I have a quick easy question.  I always assumed that the private keys came from the finite field defined by the parameter p specified here (and secg of course):

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Secp256k1

However, this wiki page states that the valid private keys are specified by the parameter n:

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Private_key#Range_of_valid_private_keys

Either I need to be fixed (ouch!) or the wiki needs to be fixed.

The correct number is n as G^(n+1) = G

Running the roulette again of course Grin
1833  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Generate an address on: September 12, 2013, 01:27:21 PM
Is there a better source of entropy available to the average person that could be used to mechanically generate a private key?

For i<52:
  • if 0->31: add the corresponding 5 bits to the private key
  • if 31+: run it again
Remove FOUR random bits
1834  Other / Meta / Re: Images on this site on: September 12, 2013, 01:19:19 PM
FWIW BitcoinTalk++ now allows uploading images to internet directly from the posting forms. It uses imgur.

Cool! Is it possible to drag and drop images like on imgur?

No but that's something nice to add! I'll look at how to do that.
1835  Other / Meta / Re: BitcoinTalk++ script - v0.1.39 on: September 12, 2013, 09:27:39 AM
From what I understand the +1s are per user? Or per post?  Per post would also be interesting.

IMHO it is better to only have +1 and not -1. A system with -1 failed a while ago because people were so pissed about the -1. So I think it is wise to only use +1
Yes per user.
We are not enough (~25) to have meaningful scores per post. It will be interesting to implement that later though. With something like auto-hide if a post is below -5 or -10.

Why do you say -1 failed? What are you referring to?
1836  Other / Meta / Re: BitcoinTalk++ script - v0.1.39 on: September 12, 2013, 08:56:42 AM
image upload. fuck yeah!
Did you try it?
1837  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BitcoinTalk++ script on: September 12, 2013, 06:22:31 AM
Added the automated image uploader
1838  Other / Meta / Re: BitcoinTalk++ script - v0.1.39 on: September 12, 2013, 06:16:28 AM
There is a bug with the new update. The ticker constantly says 'Contacting ticker...'
This bug should have been solved nearly instantly (0.1.39 was published a few minutes after the buggy 0.1.38)
Could you check the version you're using? If it's 0.1.39 and the ticker is still broken tell me what is your ticker source

You should have Chrome, I forgot to create the crx file for 0.1.39
It should be working now

New version, only one change
Hope you'll like it
I, for one, will use it a lot
