MicroGuy approves this warning:

That's not bad nor good, it's just something people need to know before investing in GLD

I agree that investors need to do their due diligence. That is a good point. But this coin is still extremely cheap and greatly undervalued.

This botnet is an abomination to human kind (and crypto miners Wink )

We need to find:

1) Who it is
2) What it is
3) Where it is

ANd then KILL IT !!!

Why? The botnet is helping to secure alt coins, so good for us

They are a plague and must be stamped out.

WTF do you see 'good' about stealing people's processing power ?
WTF am I reading?

If there was ever a case to use Bitcoin I think this takes it!

They shot themselves in the other foot a few weeks back:

unfrozen now, but lots of bad press for such ignorant draconian behavior.

Last week PayPal blocked the account of GlassUp, a Google Glass competitor that was raising money on Indiegogo. GlassUp had raised $100,000 of a $150,000 goal and PayPal informed project founder Franceso Giartosio that he would only release “a tiny amount of the funds” until final delivery of the product — funds that Giartosio needed to deliver the products.

Wow, I can't believe they would do that. It sounds like a greedy thing to do.

Same here

  • Raise money for a project
  • Paypal refuses to give you the money until final delivery of the product
  • wtf

... The special form itself may ultimately turn out to be weaker... but the performance impact is considerable and this does matter for our usage.

Is this related to something you responded to me in another thread, when we were talking about brute-forcing bitcoin-wt wallet.dat's, that the time taken for each brute-force was relatively high - what I am asking is, is this a result of choosing these magic numbers?

AFAIK wallet.dat is encrypted using AES

Can an account be recovered if we've posted a PGP key and can sign a message stating it's been compromised?

Yes.

That's great

When will satoshi spend his hoarded coins, any idea?
Never, he can't.
But I'm sure he is close to one Bitcoin business that make him earn some.

I'd like him to withdraw some of his coins though. The mass panic would be epic.

How else do you think paypal is such a big & rich company?

Because of big success of their service. But what goes up must go down one time

read the story where paypal store 700k from mojang :-)

For those too lazy to Google ;-P

Hopefully he'll have better luck than Something Awful did during its 2005 run-in with PayPal: After raising over $30,000 in nine hours to aid Red Cross efforts following Hurricane Katrina, SA's PayPal account was frozen for suspicious activity, ultimately resulting in all donated funds, minus service fees, being returned to donators.

Beware ! Thanks for the link  Wink

Why would you beware of us fixing the code?

The original design of the coin was to produce 100 million coins. After assuming development responsibilities, we found a bug in the code that was causing "unlimited coin generation" and lowered the block reward to return the coin to it's original total coin output.

We didn't think the World wanted (or needed) another infinite coin.

That's not the point
What worries people is that new comers will earn 10 times less GLD with the same hashpower
It also means that early adopters are fucking loaded

That's not bad nor good, it's just something people need to know before investing in GLD
