1621  Other / Meta / Re: Modern Bitcoin Forum? on: September 26, 2013, 07:09:36 PM
Usually these modernizing projects begin with enthustiasm but end up miserably because everyone has ideas and no-one actually makes anything Smiley We built up a decent load balanced Discourse installation and will do our best to help build it a better home for Bitcoin related talk.

If Discourse is not familiar (it is pretty new), some of its key points:
1) Users gain trust by using the forum and behaving - helps in administration
2) One-page infinite scrolling
3) Quick and efficient
4) Modern, very much a work in progress (see http://github.com/discourse/discourse)
5) Safe and secure (see http://github.com/discourse/discourse)
6) Great UX, simple UI

See our FAQ at http://dbtng.com/faq

All development help is highly appreciated. Make yourself heard in General category. Welcome!

Quote
A = 0000000000000008f99787df6b147fc89a4936a275a5fe5be2bf58ee99ea54790000000000000016339390fe9925f0e0ee98e466ee4a95e7a2f3af274f07ae29etc...0000000000000008f99787df6b147fc89a4936a275a5fe5be2bf58ee99ea5479
Ensuite tu calcules ton nombre aléatoire:
Quote
NA = sha512(A)

1623  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Seeking a team to develop Bitcointalk 2.0 forums (apply within) on: September 26, 2013, 06:15:15 PM
I've been lurking around the bitcoin scene for some time already and feel you completely that we need something better than this forum. I decided to build a Discourse installation with some servers and try to make it the home for more serious bitcoin talk. Developer help is more than welcome and I suggest you come to http://dbtng.com, register and make yourself heard at the General forum.

I think that Discourse is and WILL be the best possible option for the second generation bitcointalk. It is currently still under heavy development but is stable and secure already. We will need more features and bitcoin-features for Dbtng for sure. We will set up a Github for plugin development as soon as we have the time. If you feel like participating, register on Dbtng.

Citing your competitor in your logo is not exactly the best way to promote your service

Tu as raison, éloigne toi de Bitcoin vite! Non PLUS VITE!
1628  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ON HOLD] 2^256 Deep Space Vagabond on: September 25, 2013, 08:49:04 PM
Hmm
The guy said "0% chance"
That means odds
So I assumed odds
1629  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ON HOLD] 2^256 Deep Space Vagabond on: September 25, 2013, 08:41:10 PM
you shutdown the project to maintain the "0% chance for address collision" myth?

I'm closing this project due to other priorities. Thanks everyone. It was fun!

Why remove .scr file? Some people started getting results and you shutdown the project to maintain the "0% chance for address colision" myth?
It's not a myth, it's just facts. 2^256 is a really really really large number.
2^160
2^160 for RIPEMD-160, but 2^256(-secpk256k1 max number thing) for the possible private keys that hashes to an address within the 1^160 address space.
He was talking about address collision
The odds of an address collision is 2^160
1630  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Storing coins in offline wallet on: September 25, 2013, 08:10:36 PM
I think he wants to 'store his coins' by copying over wallet.dat, not copying the whole blockchain.
Copying over wallet.dat works fine.
I understand that. But you can't simply swap out wallet.dat files. Doing so will cause the client to "miss" transactions that appeared when the wallet was not present.

Grue,

I think you are mistaken.

I've done this many times myself.  It works.
It requires a rescan but yeah it works

Never.
1632  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ON HOLD] 2^256 Deep Space Vagabond on: September 25, 2013, 07:15:31 PM
inb4 YOU SEE IT'S A MYTH IT'S NOT 0%!!

1637  Other / Meta / List of our bad reports on: September 25, 2013, 05:37:03 PM
Could we have access to the bad reports we made?
This would allow us to know what we think is reportable but is not
Or PM us to explain why the report is bad
