Yup, that pchmessagestart seems to get forgotten quite often, it actually defines the protocol message starts. Its also written in blockchain etc as block separator
WAT

YUUUUP
hexdump -n 300 -C blk0001.dat
if you wanna read a good comprehensive article about blockchain and other stuff around it
http://james.lab6.com/2012/01/12/bitcoin-285-bytes-that-changed-the-world/

Quote
"Notably, the magic network ID is not part of the block. It is used solely as a delimiter between blocks."
blk0001.dat is not part of the blockchain, it's only one of the files that one client, bitcoin-qt, uses to store it
The blockchain doesn't have such things as block delimiters, it's only a list of blocks

Happy birthday vite!

Though I have this image on my Flickr, I went to Google images to retrieve it only to learn that many other sites, many not Bitcoin related, took the liberty to embed said image onto their own sites, of which I don't mind.
You should mind, imagine if one of them is Josh's blog

2164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Regulate my ass on: August 26, 2013, 06:53:24 PM
If a bank gets robbed, and this happens all the time, your money is still in your account, when a bitcoin exchange, online wallet, whatever bitcoin gets robbed, your coins are gone!
Yes, this is Bitcoin. And regulation won't change that.
Of course regulation works with banks as payments are far from instant.
2165  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] [OBC] Obamacoin, strongest coin in the world on: August 26, 2013, 06:24:01 PM

there simply will never be enough of them for this ever to become a true currency, or to be used in any major way for currency exchange.
This has been addressed a thousand times
2167  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk++ script - v0.1.23 on: August 26, 2013, 04:50:35 PM
Btw. My script still hasn't updated itself and a day has passed since the "*" appeared. Is that a problem on my side or your side?
I think it's on your side
If you want to check go to chrome://extensions and click "Update extensions". If the version doesn't change for 30 seconds then it may be on my side. It works in my Chrome though.

Nope. I tried the plugin on Firefox Mobile v23, said Installation Failed. I tried to compile the script itself, and it said it wasn't Compatible.
I'll try to figure this out but it looks like compiling a userscript to an XPI is not trivial
I just registered to addons.mozilla.org, hopefully I'll manage to create an XPI

Doesn't seem to work for me on Chrome, says it can't be installed from this website.
You need to drag it into the Extensions tab. It's a security measure by Google.

Ah, thanks! That was it.
Yeah that wasn't clear, I changed the OP

Wow
Consequences will never be the same
2169  Economy / Gambling / Re: Any sympathy for an ex-gambler who lost 2.15 BTC? on: August 26, 2013, 04:34:14 PM

Yes, its completely possible to lose 5 times in a row at 50/50. There's been much much math done about it and you can find it anywhere on the internet.

do you even know what will be chances of happening that on a gamble site.

Ps: fuck math use common sense.

0.5 ^ 5 = 0.031 aka 3.1%

its possible.

Bitcoin address collision:

1 / (2^160) = 6.84*10^-49 aka (6.84*10^-47)%

its possible.

Already created
So now that coin creators don't even check the name, what could they possibly do apart from fork+used?
2172  Other / Meta / Re: Advertisements on: August 26, 2013, 06:33:38 AM
just ban advertisements altogether
It's really funny how 100% of your posts are only one sentence long

People trusting Goldman won't ever buy a crypto
People using crypto don't trust Goldman
2175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: August 25, 2013, 10:54:36 PM
I wonder why and how?
Because a bunch of people suddenly bought ixcoin because they thought that ixcoin would be valuable in the future

And besides myself I have yet to meet just one other person to have bought and accumulated ixCoin over the last 30-60 days.  Someone was competing with me for the 1%, but I don't know who.

Could it have been Goldman Sachs or JPMorgan?  Lol, maybe.  I'm sure they have the inside track on the Bitcoin ETF license.  If I were them I'd be accumulating the next crypto ETF now.

It's pocket change for them.  They can buy all the Cryptos right now for 10X their value for pocket change.

And that is exactly the mentality I'm expecting to drive Cryptos through the roof.

Can you imagine seeing a CrapCoin (i.e. NUGs) going to $1?   Hahhaaaaa.

I can!

Yeah I'm sure people will want to buy a coin that is also bought by Goldman Sachs

Donation or paid work?

Done in 0.1.23

While lurking I found this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=266608.msg3006919;topicseen#msg3006919
That gave me an idea: a list of super useful posts or threads
The first that comes in my mind is the Activity thread on Meta
Thoughts?
Paid work.

A list of super useful posts or threads sounds good, but I don't think it suits the purpose of this plugin.
Wow I hope it wasn't too long!

Why? Wouldn't that ++ BitcoinTalk? Grin
2179  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Checkpoints Enlightment on: August 25, 2013, 08:34:50 PM
Imagine a guy is mining a second blockchain since block 2
Now imagine he manages to make it longer (by mining or by finding a flaw in the mining process) that the one we currently see and he releases it
Result: all transactions are reverted and the only one to have any bitcoins since block 2 is him

By adding a checkpoint at block n, you force your client to refuse chains if the hash for their block n is not the one of the checkpoint, so the guy can't revert the blocks older than n
2180  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk++ script - v0.1.22 on: August 25, 2013, 08:17:35 PM
Tysat offered me to use his server for BT++
That will allow me to more things server side
For instance saving settings (if wanted) and those lists that were discussed earlier when I have some time

Many thanks tysat!
