Using Mt.Gox (for example) is trusting Mt.Gox that they will secure your transactions so you get what you pay for.
It's just like using PayPal to buy products from e-bay. You'd be trusting them to make sure your transaction goes smoothly.

Luckily Mt.Gox has a good history.

Don't worry about thinking too much into it, it's good to find exploits so they can be patched.
1022  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Intrest-bearing Bitcoin Bank. on: August 30, 2011, 04:25:39 AM
I guess you could use the deposited money to buy mining equipment, just as a traditional bank uses money to make loans.
Isn't that what GLBSE is for?

GLBSE is far superior for that.
I was thinking about getting a few FGPA boards to mine with.
Would need some money to start as they aren't the cheapest start.
1023  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are you hiding? on: August 30, 2011, 04:19:02 AM
Most people are with day to day post, but I don't really see the point.
SMF keeps logs of every IP you've ever posted with.
1024  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I need 300 bitcoins.... on: August 30, 2011, 04:16:35 AM
So, you're wanting to get 3k USD worth of Bitcoins?

1025  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BitCoin on: August 30, 2011, 04:13:59 AM
One doesn't need to know how it (bitcoins/encryption) works, just would need to know how to send/receive money.
From there, it works like any other bank (as far as sending/receive money). Just a bit easier and LOADS faster.

I'd be interested in hosting a site like this.
Wouldn't be able to pay much, maybe like 0.01% interest. Grin
1028  Other / Off-topic / Re: prepaid credit card generators? on: August 30, 2011, 03:28:26 AM
lol scary... so the "bad" guys could be draining the fiat system n laundering them through bitcoins? im buying gold...... and more bitcoin rigs Smiley
I've known people for years to screw with the system.
The problem is it's not just the USA currency, it's all currency.

As for this money moving to Bitcoins, I am going to put my hands down on this one.
There is no way for anyone to take a stolen credit card and convert it to Bitcoins.
Now, selling credit cards for Bitcoins is a whole new conversation.
1029  Other / Off-topic / Re: prepaid credit card generators? on: August 30, 2011, 03:23:01 AM
Yes, there is a place where groups will dump left-over cards that they need to get rid of to make money. Smiley
Long story short, there are some private sites (not forums) that have these random cards.

Ranging from USA, Germany, Euro...etc

Highly Illegal.
1030  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Under 150 Posts and No Rep from 2 people, DON'T BUY on: August 30, 2011, 12:53:20 AM
EDIT:  of course it's my own damn fault for never setting up a Bitcoin-OTC profile, so I'll never get any positive rep from the transaction, but oh well.  Such is life.
I never setup an OTC profile, nor do I plan to.
Unless...someone wants to do it for me. xD
1031  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Custom FPGA Mining Board: X6000/X6500 on: August 30, 2011, 12:03:29 AM
We are very close to a final price, the only remaining issue beign how much Paypal money we have access to. I really wish I could tell you what the final price is, but the other team members would be angry if I did. In any case, I will push them to publish the final price ASAP.
I'd be interested in a rough price, even if it's not finalized.
50 USD - 500 USD? Tongue

I'll bump with you.
When are you sending the next batch out? Smiley
1033  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are ATI faster than NVIDIA for graphics? on: August 29, 2011, 11:59:34 PM
I'm going to stay with thinkpads i get epic performance out of the workstation class machined and they hold their value well(i sold my thinkpad for half what i paid for it 3 years later when i bought my w510) and docking stations let me have all the ports of a desktop while being able to carry it around, the big thing i stay away from is anything consumer oriented they're hard to work on and gernally built down to a pirce in obvious ways
My main intention is to have at least 3 desktops in my room, 1 desktop in the kitchen and 1 laptop to walk around with.
There will also be a media server, and a firewall in the closet.

I've got the media server and the firewall implemented at my parents house, so I don't see it being too much in the way.
1034  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are ATI faster than NVIDIA for graphics? on: August 29, 2011, 11:51:51 PM
i have a i7 720 in the 510 it gets hot under load but not uncomfortable TS needs some better design people lately
I'm 110% done with laptops.
Only reason why I kept getting laptops was for portability.

Now, I'm going to be moving into an apartment soon...I'm building a bad ass series of desktops.
1035  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are ATI faster than NVIDIA for graphics? on: August 29, 2011, 11:41:45 PM
NothinG who built your laptop? i have no problems in either of my thinkpads(w510 w520) with the quadros thermally (based on 330m and 460m respectivly)
Toshiba

I don't think it's my graphics card that's the problem, it's my CPU.
2x 4 core i7

Too much for this Laptop.
1036  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Merged Mining - Bitcoin Namecoin Solidcoin on: August 29, 2011, 06:25:25 AM
I might see where you are going with this...

So, instead of mining for bitcoins with 100% of your shares; you send 80% of your shares for bitcoins and 20% of your shares for namecoins?
(^ example)

Failed.
1038  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mandatory transaction fee? on: August 29, 2011, 05:59:17 AM
I believe there's always a fee in every transaction.

No. You can set it up to send a transaction, but will have to wait for the person who finds the blocks to accept the transaction as-is without the fee.
From what I've gathered...unless, I've lost the concept of transaction fees.
1039  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are ATI faster than NVIDIA for graphics? on: August 29, 2011, 05:48:55 AM
I personally have a nVidia GeForce GTS 360m...
My problem is heat.

These stats are from personal experience with max settings for that game.

CSS ~250-300 FPS
TF2 ~150-200 FPS
MW2MP ~50-100 FPS (~15-20 FPS w/ FRAPS)
BF3 Alpha ~50-60 FPS
Brink ~35-50 FPS
Homefront ~20-30 FPS

All I can remember is that when Homefront FIRST came out, it was love with HIGH (65-80 on max settings) FPS. Now, I can't get anything higher than 40 FPS with the lowest settings.
1040  Other / Off-topic / Re: What music do you listen to while programming? on: August 29, 2011, 05:42:29 AM
I can only code when I'm cold.
I usually listen to Trance.
