Yeah I guess you're correct, but when we uncover fraudsters nothing is done about them, IRL there is usually a governing body you can go to for help.  Look at the Bruce issue thats forming, people are white-knighting him without looking at any of the information.  Its almost like bitcoin users have their head in the sand when it comes to anything negative about the currency.
Each person spends LOADS of time learning a specific skills.
Not everyone has the knowledge to keep their data secure, know how stocks work...etc.

With having a government, you can keep your life as simple as you want. Go to work, make money, go home.
Don't have to worry about how much money your currency is worth.
1002  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Intrest-bearing Bitcoin Bank. on: August 30, 2011, 11:49:26 PM
How would you tackle the fraud issue? I wouldnt let anyone touch my btc after the Mybitcoin wallet thing, and now we hear Bruce our biggest spokesperson is very likely a long time fraudster, seems like everywhere you turn someone wants to steal your coins.
Nothing new there...
Look at all the scams that have been attempted over time through all currencies.

If you have a little bit of money, but don't want to buy a second server JUST for a firewall...check out http://www.d-guard.com/
I know the guy who made it. YES, I used "guy"...only one person.

We've tested 2x 2Gb/s and 4x 1Gb/s at the same time on a server with 1Gb/s ^, 1Gb/s v and it blacklisted the IP.
The thing is a little un-forgiving when people try to connect on odd ports like 3389 and 3306. Even if you own the server, it will block you if you connect with the wrong Username/Password.

Stop Bitcoin?

Yes, it was all a big joke in reality.  Shocked Wink

--- the end ---

That's all folks!
Did you like the scenario?
I think I did particurly well with the characters of Satoshi, Gavin and Bruce, but maybe I put a bit too much twists and turns to the plot.
The most difficult part was to package a large chunk of code that would compile and be too complex for anyone to understand before the scenario finish to unfold.

Anyway, thanks for participating to this internet-reality.
You'll receive coupons from our sponsor Groupon in compensation of the Bitcoin you thought you had mined.
>.>
At least give me something from a good site.

Did I miss something?
1006  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bitcoin Powerpoint on: August 30, 2011, 04:49:47 PM
I'd be happy to share the powerpoint with a few school presidents I know.

Actually, I even know some merchants at a mall that might be interested.
1007  Economy / Goods / Re: USER: THYDUDE IS IN THE HOSPITAL. on: August 30, 2011, 04:40:32 PM
This thread displays why I would not trade with someone anything over 10 btc. Simply cause anyone who has only been on the forums for less than a month cannot be truly trusted. Also someone who makes around 10 posts a day is suspicious also.

Your last point is rendered invalid.

And what about my mom?
I don't know your mom.
Look at my comments about your list of questions.
Do any/all of them concern her?
1009  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are you hiding? on: August 30, 2011, 05:26:02 AM
No the question was (rephrased):

When browsing the forums, are folks concerned about their IP and info being on here, and are therefore utilizing software such as TOR/VPNs/etc to hide themselves.
Only Admins/Mods have access to your information.
As long as you don't admit to doing anything immoral to the eyes of the staff, there is nothing you should be worried about.

This is a mix between Social Engineering (letting people know what you want them to know) and anonymity (what you want to brag about without getting in trouble).
A.K.A. one bad ass balancing act.

nice incognito is for tor. check on that. so multiple vpns are going to be so that it makes it harder and harder to figure out where the original came from? still confused on that part
It was a trick I used to use when hacking.
I used a stolen dedi to start the 7-proxie-party. xD
You also need to know exactly where the VPN's are located at to keep speeds at a maximum.

People know PayPal and "trust" PayPal.
I don't trust them. Tongue

Why do I decide to start using BitCoins (hypothetically speaking of course).
The idea is to get merchants to accept Bitcoins.
1014  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Intrest-bearing Bitcoin Bank. on: August 30, 2011, 04:50:26 AM
I'd offer some capital, but I don't want to bankrupt myself. I've got 3 BTC now with another 4 coming soon.
I've got 50 in cold storage, but I'm in the same boat as you. I don't want to loose everything and gamble on one board.
1015  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I need 300 bitcoins.... on: August 30, 2011, 04:49:42 AM
Thanks everyone for your patience. My post was in part trolling (because I'm making a new thread for this questions that I suppose I can find if I look more) and serious, because I do need some bit coins. 15 bitcoins to be exact.

I'm not planning to become a frequent bitcoin user, I just want to buy this particular thing that can only be bought in bitcoins.

nmat, one bitcoin per week would take me 15 weeks if I mine 24/7, which is a lot of time.

What do you guys recommend to get 15 coins in the most easiest and fastest ways? I also don't have the 15 bitcoins in dollars.

Thanks again and sorry for the ignorance.
Looks like you're shit out of luck.
1016  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are you hiding? on: August 30, 2011, 04:48:00 AM
so whats the best way to be secure? buy a laptop? hook it up to smartphone via rooted device on hotspot and use vpn? is that a good idea? all device purchases and services being purchased anonymously of course?
Buy VPN (1), use that VPN (1) to buy another VPN (2).
Connect to TOR (1), then connection to VPN (2).
Once you're good, connect to VPN (1) and buy and connect to VPN (3).
If you want to go further, force SSL and use incognito.

Who owns mtGox or any other such exchanges?

He's on the IRC somewhere, but I don't watch it.

Being told to not think about it isn't encouraging Smiley
The average Bitcoin user shouldn't have to worry about how public/private keys are exchanged when dealing with transactions.
If anyone feels like taking it further, it's open source. Smiley
1019  Economy / Goods / Re: What's Better Than a 6990? Bitcoin KEYCHAINS have arrived! BUY BUY BUY!!! on: August 30, 2011, 04:32:39 AM

I'll bump with you.
When are you sending the next batch out? Smiley

I send them out every day! Yours went out this morning. All in the hands of the USPS now Smiley
They give you a tracking number?
