961  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where will stop, the size of the database bitcoin. 1GB+ on: September 01, 2011, 04:30:08 PM
Remember that, due to the decentralized nature of Bitcoin, we need as many people as possible with the FULL blockchain, to relay all the blocks and transactions to others

1GB is almost nothing, you can buy 3TB hard disks for cheap... so as long as it doesn't become a real problem, it's better we keep the full blockchain
I see your point, and I raise you space detection. Smiley

If their HDD (the one that has Bitcoin Client on it) has enough space that will allow at LEAST 10% left on it, to go ahead and download the full blockchain.
Another option would be to ask the user if they would be so kind and help grow the Bitcoin economy by downloading the full blockchain.

How about payment monthly for having the full blockchain with a decent upload speed? Nothing HUGE, but something to make them WANT to have all the blocks.
962  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where will stop, the size of the database bitcoin. 1GB+ on: September 01, 2011, 04:15:21 PM
Yes, can't the client "trust" the network with the majority of the block chain as a default, and only download the whole thing when specifically requested to do so?
Personally, I could care less how big the client is. However, following this method would allow users with little space to start a new client and send all Bitcoins to it.
963  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where will stop, the size of the database bitcoin. 1GB+ on: September 01, 2011, 04:11:46 PM
Why not this:

If the client is ran for the first time, only grab the most recent block. And, from there on out...grab the latest blocks.
-There is no need for new clients to go back and sift through all the blocks to see if they have a transactions.

If the client has been ran before, only grab the blocks from when their client first started.
-Again, no need to go ALL the way back.

If the user so-happens to want all the blocks, they would easily just be able to do -rescan.
-Sometimes people want to have all the blocks.

^ How about that?

I think the URL changed.
Maybe just put bitcoin.org ?

After that, I'll buy Smiley
I did that to promote the forum. The ironic thing about it is that everyone hates it, but it is this forums loose moderation policy that has made it one of the most exciting places to come to. I will go ahead and make a second version just for you using the Bitcoin.org link. Thank you so much Smiley
Awesome, drop me a PM when it gets added.

We all just need to believe it exist, and it will exist.

No, no. The atheist pool is for the people who know that believing it exists won't make it exist and that to make it exist you actually have to code it yourself. STOP PISSING IN OUR POOL YOU GODDAMN CHURCH PEOPLE! Smiley
>GODDAMN
>GOD

You believe?
970  Other / Off-topic / Re: Athiest pool on: September 01, 2011, 04:03:51 AM
Will the atheist pool be open to agnostics as well? Smiley

I'm not sure.

The Atheist Pool might not even exist; then again, it might - there isn't enough evidence one way or the other.
We all just need to believe it exist, and it will exist.

I can't wait to see someone standing on the side of the road wearing dirty clothes and holding a cardboard sign with a bitcoin address written on it in felt pen.

Not that such an image has anything to do with this request, of course.

That photograph worth at least a few bitcoins

Out of curiosity who does host the forum?
The user on the forums (theymos, I think), or the server company (slicehost)?

978  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NEWEST HOTTEST CRYPTOCURRENCY! on: August 31, 2011, 08:21:19 AM
It's called FUCKEDCOIN !!!

It's coming out real soon on the tails of all these other Cryptocurrencies to compete to see if it can be the ultimate cryptocurrency to bring bitcoin to it's knees and lower the price by another 5 dollars each.

C'mon folks, let's all get behind it!

It means the downfall and complete ultimate destruction of bitcoin. Once we launch Fuckedcoin, we are going to launch Concoin. These are supposed to make sure all people who look at cryptocurrencies have that element of doubt in their minds.

That will be followed next by Fraudcoin. Fraudcoins will be great because you won't have to be hacked to lose them. They gradually diminish in existence from the time you first acquire them. Each time you check your wallet, a few micro-fraudcoins vanish into thin air.

And if that does not do it, we'll launch Nocoin. This one will surely finish off bitcoins because when you buy them, you will get nothing.

Then, we'll just keep launching nonesensical Cryptocurrencies until there are so many that the term bitcoin will be all but forgotten. Like Alpha Beta supermarkets or Thrifty Ice Cream.

Everyone on board? Programmeders...Technomorons...Huh

sick. k i need $$ for toys. saving my pennies. i appreciate the help Wink
No Problem.
You'd be surprised what you can do with a little bit of hardware and knowledge.

I've written 2 essays on war-driving (basically WiFi Pirating).
One of the main things I looked at was what do other people keep logs on your activities.

Anyways...drop me a PM or something, I'm going to get some sleep.

Watch discretely for cameras. (not joking)
I'm sure you've seen CSI where they 50x zoom and can see your username/password. (joking)
Apparently, FBI can trace you by MAC address. (joking)

Routers LOG MAC addresses, so when buying the VPN dual-boot into Linux (preferably Ubuntu, as it's simple...or Backtrack if you're a little skilled). (not joking)
I haven't found a way to mod my MAC address on PC, that's why I suggest Linux. (not joking)
