1241  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OFFICIALLY I GOT BACK 49% OF BTC FROM MYBITCOIN on: August 11, 2011, 05:20:57 PM
Just asking, are you feeling positive having lost half your coins?

trollish... but I had the same thought.

On the bright side, it's 49% more than 0 which is what he thought he had.
49% more than 0 is 0 Cheesy
49% is 49% more than 0%
0 * 1.49 = 0

Let's say we have 100 bitcoins.

0% of those bitcoins is 0 bitcoins.

49% more than 0 bitcoins is still 0 bitcoins. You don't simply "add" percentages together.

So are you saying 2% is not one percent more than 1%?
49% of 100 = 49 and 0% of 100 = 0 (Given)
49% + 0% = 49 + 0(If a = b then a + c = b + c)*
49% can be added to 0%(If 49 can be added to 0 and 49% + 0% = 49 + 0, then 49% + 0% is a valid equation.

This direct proof states %s can be added.  The flaw in your logic is in sentence three (49% more than 0 bitcoins is still 0 bitcoins.) 49% (this is 49% of 100 thus it equals 49) more than 0 is 49 bitcoins.

*basically this states you can replace something in an equation with something of equal value and the equation will still hold true.

I'm happy to see some of you guys agree with destroying Facebook!  I mean after all who controls the internet ? how are we sure its not the governments ?  And after watching the social network why would anyone trust zuckerburg ( bloodsucker) with ur personal info?  Oh the tragedy come November 5!
So, is it just going to be some bad-ass DDoS attack?

I remember when The Social Network (2010) came out; there was a small DDoS for a few days.
1243  Economy / Speculation / Re: Quick math question. on: August 11, 2011, 10:23:49 AM
I know this question might seem a bit dumb but how much does the price need to go up on mt. gox before I can sell at a profit with their normal fee.

Say I bought one btc at 10, how much would it have to rise.  6 cents?
It takes a buy at $10.00 and a sell at $10.12 to break even.

Commission is (normally) .65%, so:

I buy 10 bitcoins at $10 each, cost is $100 plus $0.65 commission.

I sell 10 bitcoins at $10.12 each, I get $101.20 and pay $.55 commission.

Sell-Buy: $101.20 - $100 = $1.20
Total Commission: $1.20

Result: Breakeven

Hopefully I did this right Tongue

Hm, isn't the very last bitcoin expected to get mined at year ∞?
The coins generated per block are suppose to half-life (or something) until 2033 (~ish).

So, $500...let's go!
1253  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 7,000,000 bitcoins ... on: August 11, 2011, 04:00:41 AM
The second the last block is uncovered, a lot of people will probably be cashing out. Once that happens, we'll see a lot more action, provided Bitcoins are still viable.

The second I can pay rent with them though, I'm golden.

There will never be a "last block." Blocks will always be generated, because that's where new transactions are processed/confirmed. However, after the 21m coin limit, there will no longer be coins created in the block. Instead, those still mining earn money from transaction fees... which, if Bitcoin is successful, will be very large in the future because each block will represent tens of thousands of transactions.
Would the difficulty still be high?

I wont apologize to you, as I did nothing wrong.
I said take the ones with fruit on them.

1256  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Wiki: Looking for administrators (step 1/2) on: August 11, 2011, 03:25:59 AM
As an Administrator, would we get email notifications on modifications to the Wiki?
If so, I'd be more then happy to help out.
If you want notifications on modifications, just subscribe to the recent changes RSS feed
I had forgotten about RSS. I figured there would be a more instant way.
I'm currently using https://www.feedmyinbox.com for free RSS->E-Mail, but I only get them once a day.
