2121  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: You are NEW here? Start with this Video! on: March 08, 2014, 01:54:45 AM
Didn't watch the whole video due to time limitations, haha, but from what I saw it was very informative.
No complaints, good job. Smiley
2122  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Facts: Is Dorian the real Satoshi or Not? on: March 08, 2014, 01:52:14 AM
Why is it so hard for people to admit that we just don't know?
Throw out all theories you want, it won't bring you closer to the
truth.
2123  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=506167 on: March 08, 2014, 01:49:51 AM
please bring back the newbie section to atleast irritate the scammers for more then a 30 second registration process
This would solve soooo much. I know that I would've found it annoying to begin with, but why on earth are people given the same rights about posting when clearly 90% of the scammers on this forum aren't even committed enough to spend a couple of hours on the forum.
2124  Other / Off-topic / Qoinpro on: March 08, 2014, 01:38:58 AM
So, does anyone think Qoinpro ever will get out of their
"Beta" stage, and start to actually add an amount that
will let you withdraw your coins within the next 10 years?
Seems like there is no information about it whatsoever,
just continuous e-mails from them saying they're still in
the beta stage etc.
2125  Other / Off-topic / Re: 666 on: March 08, 2014, 01:32:49 AM

Oh my got, this made me laugh for at least a minute, where's that picture from originally?

2126  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos is taking illegal ads from a ponzi scheme - MakeBtc.org on: March 08, 2014, 01:32:10 AM
-Bitcoin?  Isn't it the weird money they use it for drugz and shit?
-No way bro, that's totally last year.  It's all srs and legit nao.  They use it to Ponzi!

Not only is advertising Ponzi schemes horrible PR for Bitcoin, it's also illegal for an American operating from American soil.

You had to make a new account to post this? Psch.
If you don't like it, get out. Simple as that. Bitcoin
already has a 'bad reputation' in mainstream media
cause people connect it to illegal actions.

Oic.  If I don't like people shitting up Bitcoin, I shoud stfu, walk away, and let the shittening continue?
Lol no.

*Try to understand that it's not just my coin that gets lousy press because of this stupidity.  The same press hurts your coin too.  The more bad press, the more excuses for regulators to jump in and regulate the fuck out of us.  I'm not here to stop people from pulling cons, all I'm asking is we take down the billboards that advertise those cons.

The day mainstream media writes about bitcointalk, and that it's advertising ponzis…
I don't see that day within the nearest 5 years, to say the least.
There are some reports about bitcoins in mainstream media at the moment, but
it's always outdated / half-wrong fact, and every single article connects
bitcoins to drug trade.
When we reach a point when mainstream media cares about a bitcoin ponzi or a
bitcoin forum, bitcoins will already have passed the stage of being just an internet
currency for a small % of the world.
2127  Economy / Goods / Re: buy beef with bitcoins on: March 08, 2014, 01:21:52 AM
I have purchased steaks, hamburgers, and roast from andelin in the past, and can attest to the meat being superb.  I realize that the knee jerk reaction to his initial post is to think scam, and if I didn't know him or his product I would say the same thing.  Truth is andelin is by his own admission not a tech guru.  He is a farmer who has an big interest in bitcoin, and raises awesome cattle.  What he is trying to do is see is it worth his time to set up a site and bitcoin purchasing or not.  He makes good money selling cattle the normal way, so if there is no interest then no point in putting forth the expense and effort on the new venture.
I also, realize that in looking how I am new to the forum and have no previous posts it is hard for skeptics to take my recommendation seriously.  I would say to wait for his site to come up with pictures and reserve judgement.  Answer his query with the perspective of "If there were a legit beef seller who took bitcoin would you be interested".  If the answer is yes tell him so.  If you are not interested then that is fine too.  Only time will prove that he is legit or not (spoiler alert he is).

I would give andelin one piece of advice and that is not to ship beef without payment.  As I said just please answer his original question of would you be interested.  It costs you no BTC to answer.

Agree with the shipping advice - to factor that into the payment of course.
Hahaha.
A 1 post account created today, that posted 6 minutes after being created just assured us that the other newbie account seller that refuses to provide any information whatsoever about his product is legitimate.
Thanks mate, I'll have some beef.
2128  Other / Off-topic / Re: loose != lose on: March 08, 2014, 01:19:25 AM
I think loose / lose is an easy mistake to make. It's definitely forgivable among grammar crimes lol.

I can get people confusing your and you're because they sound alike when spoken, along with their/there/they're, but lose and loose don't even sound alike. and the meanings are completely different. so how is it easy to confuse. I just don't get it, man.

and I swear this wasn't a widespread problem until a few years ago. I used to rarely notice it online. and then, maybe four or five years ago, it seems that everyone agreed to start screwing it up. is it something in the water? some kind of chemical children were exposed to in the immediate years preceding/following Y2K?
I think it's called the youth of today that expect spell checks to correct everything for them ( note that it won't notice if you type loose instead of lose as it's not technically spelled wrong ) / the education system failing in the world's former leading countries.
2129  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Does FreeBitcoinz pay out? on: March 08, 2014, 01:17:24 AM
Hm, I've had no problems getting the 2000 satoshi per day added to my balance. However I have no yet reached 100k so I haven't experienced their payouts. Is there any problems with it? Do they not pay out at all or is it just taking a lot of time?

2132  Economy / Services / Re: NEW! bitcoin-scratchticket.com | Earn up to 0.1 BTC / Month | Up-front payment on: March 08, 2014, 01:05:24 AM
Hey everyone, looking for some feedback here on signature programs:

Do think there is an opportunity to differentiate ourselves from the gazillions of other signature programs by instead of trying to attract high volume (and sometimes spammy) members, design the program to attract low-volume posters, but pay them for any day that they posted?

Also, if you're referral link (which is in your signature, but can also be posted anywhere) results in another person registering on our site, and then signing up for the signature program, you will get paid every day that referred person posts as well.

Theory is that we won't get the high-volume guys, but we will get a lot more low-volume folks. What do you think?
The only way I see that working is if there are a lot of people on this forum who would want to be a part of the bigger signature programs, but simply can't manage to do the minimum posting required. Then they could use this one instead. About the referral system, it is a good idea, however it might end up with people spamming anyways to get as many referrals as they can.
Never underestimate what people will do to get money.

2136  Other / Off-topic / Re: loose != lose on: March 07, 2014, 09:07:03 PM
Lots of people are simply not good enough at english or care enough to correct their mistakes.
With that said, it sure is annoying to read.
2137  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie here on: March 07, 2014, 09:05:03 PM
Hello!
I'd suggest you get multibit if you're just starting out, to store your coins.
If you're looking to start out by getting some 'free' btc, there are a lot of sites out there. Be aware of those asking for your phone number however. Good luck.
2138  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What to call 0.001 BTC? (5 BTC Bounty) on: March 07, 2014, 08:24:47 PM
hey ,am new here,,

What is still valid ?

I have an idea that might be considered
This word is very famous in my country Indonesia
gilacoin might be an alternative coin
GILA which means CRAZY
because people are so crazy about bitcoin

1 gilacoin (GLC) = 0.000001 bitcoin (BTC)
10 gilacoin (GLC) = 0.00001 bitcoin (BTC)
100 gilacoin (GLC) = 0.0001 bitcoin (BTC)
1k gilacoin (GLC)  = 0.001 bitcoin (BTC)
10k gilacoin (GLC)  = 0:01 bitcoin (BTC)
100k gilacoin (GLC)  = 0.1 bitcoin (BTC)
1000k gilacoin (GLC)  =  1 bitcoin (BTC)

possible donation from you all would be helpful

Haha, check the date when the thread was started mate.
I think we've all already come to terms with what the different decimals of a bitcoin are called.
Thanks for the effort though. Wink
2139  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos is taking illegal ads from a ponzi scheme - MakeBtc.org on: March 07, 2014, 08:16:21 PM
I'm all for viewing banner advertisements to support the forum, but the moment I saw a known Ponzi scheme was being advertised was the moment I disabled ads. Regardless of the common libertarian and caveat emptor ideals on this forum, it's still concerning that anything can be advertised so long as Theymos is paid. At the very least, it's bad PR for the forums.

So with this on the table, I've got a question:
If a person were to create a piece of malware that does a drive-by install by clicking on a link, would they be able to advertise that link so long as they put in the disclaimer "Clicking on this link gives you malware"? If not, why not?
I absolutely think they would have every right to advertise it with a disclaimer.
Without one? No way. But if you're stupid enough to click it, it's your fault.
They're not the ones giving you the virus, your stupidity is.
