The old qora.co.in website used to have a list of known stable peers that had been online for at least a week. You could add them to your wallet to help it sync. Putting a new list of peers on the new website would help the community.

http://qora.tech:9090 is up for a portal to QORA internet.

I'll likely add extra sites to this that will have all necessary information. Hopefully this new blockex being up will help polo.

I didn't know if my other link for the chain download was working... some people were saying they couldn't see the file in the folder... So here's a direct link to the new chain.

https://cloud.crowetic.com/s/IDzrYBiqXnhNCvg

I'll likely be reworking the OP here as well. I'll put together some tutorials on how to run the wallet, download the sync'd chain, and close the wallet the right way to avoid db issues till we get that resolved on the coding level.

I've messaged poloniex with both of my hosted wallets, hopefully that will be enough for them to unblock deposit and withdrawals.
644  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] -NEW BURST OP- MINE ANY FREE SPACE-(HDD MINING)- ATs, AE, P2P MARKET+MORE! on: August 26, 2016, 02:27:06 AM
Thanks!  Smiley

The reason for my "move miners"-comment was simply that I don't want to move. It took ages to convince myself that I'd live with the front-end, but now I even like it. And, sure, I'd support smaller pool with zero fees and contribute to a larger degree of decentralization, but I like to support dev's pool, hoping they get a bit of surplus and incentive to continue their/your awesome work. BURST has in 2016 become a household coin, that is evident in many ways but not least on Twitter. The number of hits you will get with BURST-related tags are manyfold compared with the times we struggled to get a single retweet. Another reason I didn't move was that my farm is far from what it used to be due to a redecorating of my apartment. My measly 50-60TB hardly have an impact on the network as such. When I'm back in business again, the second reason might me move - even if I'd hate it.

So my grumpy comment was an odd way of showing appreciation.  Wink

Regarding Twitter, I must emphases how great the use of the 140.charaters posts from the community have become! For me, who has been into BURST from the very beginning, the recent development just states that  BURST is here to stay.  Smiley Of course much is due to the dedication of the dev's, but the importance  of overall community effort shouldn't be underestimated. We are great together!

And that, I believe was one of the fundamental concepts behind why burstcoin developed and launched an HDD coin: Every single one with a computer can join in, make some money and thereby also strengthen the network - without loads of dedicated hardware and expensive power. Comparing genius inventions, POC is up there with satoshi's work.  Grin It has taken some time to establish such a novel idea, and we aren't at the end yet, but God damn has BURST proven that it's far more than a proof.of-concept idea!

BURST and POC are the future already here today. I'm completely convinced that this technology will have more than one representative at the Top-10 list of cryptocurrencies. It will be a battle between POC and POW, where the former have loads of advantages. Just give it two more years and we can all say that we were part of BU3ST's early days, just as bitcoiners active in 2010-2011 can say of their involvement.

Please note that the POC coin necessarily doesn't have to beBURST. The lack of cloins; with some added feature, is truly mindbogglingly. Clones will come but that's just fine: It will improve POC technology and display its superiority of POW (where POS et al. isn't even worthy mentioning).

Whatever you do, do not sell you long-term holdings.

Whatever you do, keep looking for clones. BURST isn't perfect but POC will be. We are dealing with a revolution far greater than Bell's telephone due to the disruptive effects it will have on the world's economy: an HDD in Kongo or in North-Korea does the same thing as in Northern-Europe, without POW's power/ear problem.

Simple as that. Or as hard as that. It does take some time to grasp the magnitude of what we are really are dealing with...  Grin

Congrats to the early adopters! And why not Tweet this to celebrate what's ahead of us - still so damn cheap Wink

Indeed, we appreciate the support. Smiley We will continue to do our best to make everything possible!

This is the final piece remaining until I can give polo a link to a 'working blockexplorer' since they can't seem to figure out the local blockex on their end.

They/we need an external Block Explorer, because the built-in one is self-referential (it shows what the node itself is doing).  It's helpful for quick reference, but if a forging node (like Poloniex) starts spinning away on it's own fork, their own block explorer can't show that.  They need the external one to check if their blocks are getting out to the network.

I've successfully gotten two hosted wallets up, the first one may be slower than the second, I'm waiting on the DNS to propagate to the qora.tech domain.
I think I will also put it on qora.online

http://burstkore.ddns.net:9090/index/blockexplorer.html
http://qora.tech:9090/index/blockexplorer.html

I checked out the one at burstkore, looks good, nice work!

The other can be seen at http://216.126.198.26:9090/index/blockexplorer.html until the DNS propagates on qora.tech. Smiley

Thanks!
646  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Qora | POS | Assets | Names | Polls | Automated Transactions | Social Network on: August 25, 2016, 06:56:03 PM
Running the wallet in forging mode several days.
There are only ever 4 lasting connections (other ones show up transiently for a few seconds and go away).
For example  (from  File-Debug-Peers)

Code:
106.187.42.214   271687
188.166.16.64    271690
128.199.45.81    271706
5.230.145.31     271705

The number after the IP above is "height".    The heights are all widely different!!  And they generally stay different, all counting up or jumping ahead to catch each other, but never in unison.  I've *never* seen them all the same height!

Why, what's going on?   Is this right, or just a debug display issue?  It seems worrisome, and maybe indicates why there are syncing/forking problems.   If all of these nodes were actively forging, seems they'd all be chaining up different blocks.

Also, why only 4 peers?  I thought there were more other nodes active by now?   Anyone have active node IPs not shown in that list?

I would say your db is corrupt, maybe you were on a fork at one time. please delete it and download the one I linked above, and try that.

also, there's a new node @ 216.126.198.26

Here's a good copy of the chain in case anyone is having issues...

https://cloud.crowetic.com/s/3rUsS3CAEwc6Ze8

Also, some simple guidelines until we get the actual fix pushed...

1. ALWAYS close the wallet with file-quit to avoid db issues

2. The default settings.json file seems corrupted. IF you file-quit the wallet, wait for the db to save (don't kill it.) then DELETE the settings.json file, and restart the wallet, your settings will then save and be good.

oh yea, and now for a little showing off of what QORA hosting can do...

http://216.126.198.26:9090/2ndtest/nature

This image is hosted FULLY ON THE BLOCKCHAIN. Took about 300 tx to be there, but is now fully hosted decentralized via QORA.

I will be doing some more tests and putting up some more cool stuff on QORA hosting shortly!

So, um, is Qora.co.in gone for good or just down?

I would assume that site is down for good, but I've successfully gotten two hosted wallets up, the first one may be slower than the second, I'm waiting on the DNS to propagate to the qora.tech domain.

I think I will also put it on qora.online

So I figured I would ask this here while I'm waiting on developer reply, hopefully I can get the hosted wallet up sooner than later...

I've got a linux host running the wallet on a server in my DC. The issue I'm having, is I can't seem to allow it access outside the same 127.0.0.1, despite setting the settings to allow all...

Does anyone know the setting modification necessary in settings.json file that will allow access from outside the sytem? I am thinking that maybe if I set the setting manually in the json file as opposed to attempting to use the GUI (yes, this server I've setup running Mint, so kill me. lol. I will setup an ubuntu server version as well, once I've figured this final riddle out.)

If anyone knows what I need to add to allow access from outside localhost, i.e. the internet, please let me know.

This is the final piece remaining until I can give polo a link to a 'working blockexplorer' since they can't seem to figure out the local blockex on their end.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated. I'm sure I should have an answer by tomorrow, but I was just wanting to get it setup sooner rather than later.

Thanks!

Is there an online Qora wallet that's moderately reputable/trustworthy?

I'm working on it. Having some strange issues. talking with the dev about the issues I'm having, hopefully I'll have the wallet up shortly.

I'll propose the above issue as well, to the dev.

Have cloned a clone of the pool, and started that, it should be synchronizing now, sorry for the issues, the dev team is talking about a potential fix for the overall issue as we speak, and hopefully all this nonsense will be behind us. Thank you for your patience.

Ninja and burstmining.club are back up. I will send a bonus payout to ninja when I get back from a lunch meeting.

Thank you for your patience.

is nilnja still not fixed  Huh Wtf, why...? you want it dead and move miners, than say so  Angry Angry Angry

Don't you think that if it were a super simple fix it would have been done already? it was running fine until 100 or so blocks ago. Now it is having db corruption issues... I'm working on it, but there's nothing else that can be done currently.

I have already said if you feel like moving your miners, do it. There is an issue with the wallet causing forks, until that is resolved this will continue to happen, we are ALL working on it, thanks.
654  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Qora | POS | Assets | Names | Polls | Automated Transactions | Social Network on: August 24, 2016, 05:05:35 PM
If enough people have not been staking for a long time, it is a fundamental problem with the coin. Needs fixing. Maybe go to POW or tweak the POS to encourage staking.

I think building a plan for Qora 2.0 and allowing people to buy into it with Qora should work. That's the only way this coin can have a bright future imo. Temporary measures such as paying people to stake are not going to work when there are fundamental issues with the coin itself, there's no funding and no dedicated marketing manager. It is best to create Qora 2.0 with a LONG TERM vision.

Thinking on the lines of Verium, Nxt 2.0 (Ardor)

Also, Qora is such a bad name. Qora 2.0 should have a better name

QORA is a great name, I doubt we'll change that, but I will say that your thoughts are pretty much exactly in line with ours... Also, I'm not personally managing all of the coins, we have a team broken down into smaller groups that are focused on individual projects. My focus is BURST and QORA right now, I'll be focusing more on assisting the others once we've gotten things squared away here. As far as the marketing, our team has the ability to handle this, and we will start doing so once this immediate problem is handled.

To the people asking about forging, yes, it will take you a very long time to find a block with the small amount of coins I gave you.  This isn't the point as it was brought up, this is to help make the network stronger.

Once it is to a point where it is strong enough I can tell Polo to stop forging, then the rest of us will have more of a chance at finding a block, but the network needs more use before finding a block will mean much.

My main goal here is to just get to the point where I can explain what we're going to do in the future, and release the QrowdFunds, get things really moving...

Polo hasn't replied to me yet, and we're synchronizing some hosted wallets as we speak to send them a link to the blockex that they can use as the 'official' since they're asking for that. Once that has been completed, and they unlock deposit and withdrawal, I will tell them to stop forging if we have enough people doing so. Then we can talk more about the future.
655  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Qora | POS | Assets | Names | Polls | Automated Transactions | Social Network on: August 24, 2016, 12:59:12 AM
Nice!

Where can I find more info about the Social Network?

If you load a QORA wallet, there is a decentralized web host setup, decentralized blogs, profiles, and blockexplorer... I'm working on getting a hosted wallet up now, so that it can be used to link people outside the wallet, to the wallet's hosted information.

This will also allow me to send an outside link to polo, and hopefully get them to unfreeze deposits and withdrawals, which will then allow me to post the roadmap, and the QrowdFunds to get development rolling faster.

Thank you everyone for your participation and enthusiasm about getting everything back on track with QORA. Your efforts will not be in vain!
656  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Qora | POS | Assets | Names | Polls | Automated Transactions | Social Network on: August 23, 2016, 11:34:56 PM
Qora got higher score on the hopefulness index now I think Smiley

I think we should get more people on Qora slack. We could ask people on Twitter to help out with staking. Everyone can retweet. Is there a twitter account talking about all that is going on in the thread?

Instead of slack, we have our own version. I will create a QORA team on that chat that people can join. This is the same location where our collaborative effort communicates. Also where the new Federated project has their team.

Our slack alternative has no message limits, so it will not delete our history, it is hosted on one of my personal servers in my DC in North Carolina. We really like it, we're not completely finished with it, but it works really well.

I will create a team and put up a link for that here shortly. I'm also uploading both data and databak folders from QORA so if people are having issues syncing the chain, they can download it. I think that will help certain people as well. I'm getting this all together as we speak.

Also, I have access to the main QORA twitter as well.

Soo, why dont write some code to have a slack service embeded into QORA client?? And pay like 5 qora a month for a user?

This is in the realm of possibility, but right now QORA's webRTC is only p2p, only 2 participants can use it.

In the future, however, we do hope to make a slack alternative in a decentralized way.
657  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Qora | POS | Assets | Names | Polls | Automated Transactions | Social Network on: August 23, 2016, 10:53:07 PM
@crowetic
If people continue posting addresses here crowetic, the whole Qora team, and anyone who posted an address could get banned, and this thread could get locked.
Giveaways were banned in Alternate cryptocurrencies boards years ago by theymos (the forum administrator).
The moderators won't mind people sending addresses to crowetic by pm, but posting any address in this thread is not allowed.

The moderators can speak for themselves if they have a concern, which is unlikely.

It's not a giveaway, per se.  It's trying to solve a compelling urgent problem, in the only way possible.

In case you weren't following along:   A huge percent of the Qora coins have been locked in Poloniex exchange for several months.  They disabled dep/wd,  so noone can get their coins out.  They say the network wasn't stable enough because not enough wallets forging.  But the wallets can't forge *because they have no coins*  !   We can't add new users, because noone can get any coins from the main exchange!

This is the only way to solve the problem, untangle the knot.

The so-called "giveaway" amounts are relatively small, and for people pledging to actually do work (ie. get the wallet installed, synced and forging, which is not very easy at the moment).

That said, crowetic, we probably do need a smallish cap on the number of added forging wallets here, to avoid a giant string of 'me too' posts  (which is really the only point of that restriction).   And maybe use another word like 'bounty'.

Absolutely correct, if the mods feel the need to ban me for helping to fix a coin with an issue that can only be resolved in this fashion, that is their prerogative, I already realize they don't like the fact that altcoins are even on this forum in the first place, which is why I have already developed an alternative. Which we will be releasing shortly.

But yes, just in case, anyone interested in helping the QORA network, please send me a PM with your address (and only if you haven't already, please...) and I will send you some coin to forge with (only to help the network out of the current state, for anyone who is wondering, this is NOT a giveaway, it is a move that is necessary to revive the network while the largest exchange with 90% of the coin has their wallet on maintenance without good reason.)

Alright, I've finished the upload for the 'data' folder from the QORA wallet location. I believe this should help with the people who are having sync issues. You shouldn't be getting no connections, if you are, I will find a solution for that as well, but I have yet to see that issue, try restarting your wallet.

Also, if you're having issues on wallet close (which is an issue I've already reported to main dev and we're going to talk today in the meeting about a solution) please let me know, and I'll give you a few options that will hopefully help.

Here is a download on my cloud (I will have a more 'official' download coming soon, still working on domains and such.) - https://cloud.crowetic.com/s/wecM2rDvqIIFAPl

Hello,

Installed the client again, got to sync just fine (in under 2 hours). But Im always "no connections" so I cannot forge. I have a couple more wallets that are forging other coins on that machine.

I will download your files to see if they help, thanks.

This link has both data folders zipped. But if you're not getting a connection, make sure your windows firewall isn't blocking QORA. I don't believe that the lack of connections issue is caused by the db, it doesn't make sense to be that way.

Make sure you use this link, which has both...  https://cloud.crowetic.com/s/3rUsS3CAEwc6Ze8

Also, here's an invite link to the newly created QORA community team on our slack alternative platform.

Right now the email for password reset isn't setup, so if you forget your password I will have to manually change it for you.

Also, a lot of the administrative links aren't fully functioning, like help and such, those will be functioning soon, but the overall platform works great and has no message limits.

Feel free to jump in, and we'll get the slack setup there instead, if I get access to the slack channel I could even port over the data from there to here, we have that ability within our platform.

It is individually themeable and really responsive, it's a really cool platform. Hope to see you there soon!
